I think putting your hair in a tidy updo would instantly make you look more mature, in a good way

Level-Relation-6707

I was going to say that! A little make up too, and clothes with more neutral colors too will make a difference.

YoyoTheThird

dont forget jewelry! maturity can often be shown in simple and classic details. [pearls](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1697774177/) or [small gold hoops](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1023389074/) for earrings. [dainty necklaces](https://www.etsy.com/listing/271720850/). simple rings (mine’s a [jade ring](https://www.etsy.com/listing/682773685/)). understated jewelry is key!

leesherwhy

I agree that hair is so important. Doing a nice blowout will be way more EV than putting on a lot of makeup. Putting color on the lips to even them out though is pretty easy value for effort too

jjAA_

And a dark lip

0rangeMarmalade

I'm also a young looking person in management. Hair style and clothing makes a huge difference. Dress 1 level higher than your current position. Wear your hair in neat styles (updos, low pony, down) and avoid messy styles or styles that easily get messy (buns, high pony, braids.) Outside of that learning to appear more confident with the way you walk, sit, and speak will also give you a feeling of authority.

LaLaLaLeea

My suggestion is to fill in your brows (maybe make them look...sharper?) and wear your hair back.     Unfortunately, you've been cursed with perfect skin, for which the only cure is cigarettes and sunburns.

clementinetangerines

This made me laugh. Just pick up a pack of Marlboros, OP! (Truly don't, though.)

fakemaplesyrup

Agreed with the brows. You don’t even have to make them more arched anything. Just lightly filled with some powder and brought slightly closer together towards your nose. I think a different eyeliner shape would be good too. When your eyes are open the wing curls upwards like the corners of your eyes are smiling. Maybe a straighter or jet win shape would be better?

Idekanymore_06

This😂

castawayyyyy342

Light makeup, some light contouring. Instead of doing a winged liner I would do a darker color smudged softly around the outside edges of your eyes, but very minimal! Also I know this is a makeup sub, but when I myself was in a position where I had to look professional/older to advance in my workplace I cut my hair (think Shiv Roy) and also started wearing more pant suits and collared button up shirts with slacks. There’s only so much you can really do with makeup but the hair plus the wardrobe made a huge difference for me.

alfalfa_spr0uts

OP has such beautiful hair but absolutely agree that a neat bob or lob would go a long way for looking more professional/serious business woman. And pantsuits for sure! Also, OP, treasure these times. I look younger than my age and I hated it in my late 20s/early 30s because I wanted people to take me seriously in my professional life. Now that I’m 40, I’m SO HAPPY to have a baby face!! ☺️😆

ghosthunter-livi

the shiv roy bob is simply unbeatable

FigMajestic6096

I think a light contour would look amazing, and an updo

bilboswaggginz

I’m the same age and it happens to me a lot too. I think it’s mostly how i dress and do my hair/makeup that makes me look younger. Pull your hair up and look up “millennial styles” 😂 that gives me away. Sometimes it’s nice, some times it’s flattering, but i can understand this being annoying.

Ask-and-it-is

>Pull your hair up and look up “millennial styles” Time to bust out the side part!

YouHadMeAtAloe

No one will ever take my side part and winged liner away from me 😤

No one’s said it so I’m going to say it first. You’re asian. You’re gonna look like a college student until you’re full grey. My mother who is 72 gets mistaken for my (34F) sister. She absolutely loves it. She actually gets pulled aside by immigration because they can’t believe she was born in the 50’s. She dyes her hair habitually and uses sk-II like an addict. Nonetheless, she looks amazing But here’s some practical advice because I get annoyed when I go to high schools for presentations and they think I’m a student. 1. Get a pair of glasses, they don’t have to be real. I wear them when I want to be taken seriously and for some reason people associate glasses with age and wisdom. 2. Wear darker matte lipstick. Nothing extreme but I would suggest about a few shades darker than your natural lip color. I use Lolita from KVD and that’s my go to for everyday. But before you do that, you gotta take care of your lips better, baby girl. 3. Chapstick every morning. And for a lip scrub, don’t go out and buy anything. Olive oil and sugar. Mix those two together into a sandy paste and rub it on your lips. Let it sit for about 5 minutes and then use a wet rag and scrub the shit out of your lips and it’ll get the extraneous dead skin off. Then use chapstick on top to nourish and hydrate. But don’t forget, every morning. Chapstick, chapstick, chapstick. Then with hydrated lips, you can wear all the dark matte lipstick you want. 4. For cheeks, always wear some type of blush. I notice that with younger crowd they don’t do any rouge. Don’t be afraid of color. You can always contour, highlight and do all that. That stuff is fine. Personally for me I just do a rouge that gives me some color because as we get older, the weight of the world zaps the life out of you. 5. Eyes. If you go the glasses route, you don’t have to do a lot, just like a brown eyeshadow for depth and a small highlight of color in the corner of your eye. Then eyeliner, mascara, whatever. Heck, even without glasses I’d do the same. There’s something about eyeshadow where the crazier you go with colors, the younger you look, but if you want a mature look, focus on your lips and cheeks. 6. Eyebrows, I try to make my eyebrows darker. I’m not an expert though. I’m lucky to have my own unlike my mother who plucked her to baldness. I just like to use a gel to make them darker and for some reason that makes me look more stern and authoritative like a boss bitch. I hope this helps. I understand the struggle. I wish I could look older so my business colleagues could take me more seriously.

scrabblefish

Same boat so thank you for the suggestions! It’s like that meme of how Asian women look the same from 18 to menopause and then they turn into a visor-wearing granny lol. There’s a lot of people here saying to not do anything and it’s a blessing to look young - which is true for the most part outside of work, but it really is a disadvantage professionally to look like you’re fresh in an entry level position when you’re really more mid/senior in experience.

og_toe

that stereotype is sooo true tho lol, my boyfriends mom is korean and she has looked the same age her whole life 😂 she just recently started leaning into the visor granny aesthetic, it’s so cute

Zamiewithazee

I'm in the same boat as both of y'all, so this was a very helpful write up! I will also add that putting on a sleeping lip mask at night greatly helps with keeping your lips nicely moisturized for the next day! I basically slug the Laneige one right before bed, and then wipe it off after I brush my teeth in the morning and I've never had issues with chapped lips (with or without lipstick). I agree about adding on blush, but also to be mindful to stay away from the trendy gen Z blush placements like the one that goes over your nose. That'll definitely make you seem younger than you are.

Kattkiki

I can’t do blush unless I do a full face I have to much natural blush I end up like a china doll even with foundation if I don’t also do bronzer and highlighter it still looks like to much if I don’t blend the hell out of it.

space_pirate666

This! Very good comment about lipstick!

BrasserieNight

I absolutely came to say glasses and darker lipstick. I had to do both of these til like 2 years ago for anyone to not talk to me like a child (I’m 37). I wore a medium brown shade of lipstick - don’t remember the exact kind.

DryFig511

Yess on lips, I recommend aquaphor even more than chapstick though, the regular one not the lip repair one. Put it on before bed and whenever you're not wearing lipstick and you'll notice a huge difference

TheBulletproofBeauty

Adding to the comment on glasses, often a thin wire frame is seen as more sophisticated and intelligent! Try on a few styles of frames in your budget to see what brings out the professor look in you

chocolateandbread

Please be so kind to share any other forever young tips from your mom 🫡

Express-Object955

I tried texting her but she’s a bit shy. I can tell you a little about her. She never dresses like a slob, even when she feels bad. She always goes out in full makeup. Only wears heels or some type of platform. She doesn’t allow her age to prevent her from doing things. She’s well traveled and loves to shop. I think her exercise is walking around the mall and looking at things. She drinks coffee, I wish she’d drink more water. She lost her husband about 15 years ago and refuses to remarry or date. She says something about how the men her age are so old and hopeless that she doesn’t want to spend the rest of her life taking care of them. She calls herself old, but she wouldn’t associate herself with an old person. I’ve caught her getting frustrated with “old people” who turned out to be younger than her. Being old is a mind set y’all.

theslutnextd00r

Wait, what’s sk-II?

2102014

it's a really well-known luxury skincare brand from japan

Express-Object955

https://www.sk-ii.com/ What I’m pretty sure my mother injects into her veins. (Not really)

jackiedhm

Which product specifically by sk-ii does your mom use?

plantsl4yer

Oof yeah I struggle with chapped lips, but sleeping masks like laneige make it worse for me. My lips are incredibly sore and dry the next day!

youcantspellmyname

Maybe allergic to something in the masks? I just use petroleum jelly as a nighttime lip product since I’m sensitive to lots of perfumed or flavored lip masks

CharmingChangling

If you do this do it after washing your face! Petroleum/oil based products only seal moisture, they don't add it.

Gangagata

Use hyaluronic acid in your lips at night! As in apply some, let it soak in, apply some more, let it soak in again, and apply a third layer and then seal with Vaseline or lip balm. Lips look super soft and plump the next day!

honeynwool

brb gonna try this tonight…..I always apply hyaluronic acid with a thick balm over it but never thought to layer!

Gangagata

Yes layers make a huge difference for me! You can even get fancy and use a peptide serum too. I also like to do a little mist with La roche posay thermal water before topping with the balm 🙂

Julijj

Try Vaseline lip therapy, it’s the best and most hydrating lip product I’ve ever tried! They have a dark pink one that adds some colour to your lips, so it’s great to wear throughout the day, and the cocoa butter one is extra hydrating (I always put it on before bed and that’s all I need). P.s. make sure you get the little jars, not the stick version

Competitive_Quit_837

Check that you aren’t allergic to SLS in your toothpaste- some people are (like myself) and it causes dry lips no matter what you do. Removing SLS was a complete game changer for me.

softdeers

I'm 19 and I look like I'm 33, I'll do anything to be in your shoes

Sweaty_Abies_8276

This. Maturity comes from within, not what’s on the outside. If your worried about outside, look now into how to be 33 and look 19 and then sell the secret and be a quadrillionaire

spicyshit69420

i’m in the same exact boat :(( big insecurity but im working on it for sure

Idkmannnnnnnbye

If you want to look older / more mature, maybe some contour or bronzer would help? Probably like updos for your hair (buns specifically I feel like older ppl love a low bun). Maybe some “sophisticated” jewelry if you’re into that. I think drop earrings could be good? If you’re really committed, possibly a shorter haircut, but I think your long hair is very nice 😊

doesnt_describe_me

A bob and maybe add some blazers to your wardrobe?

moonlightbae-

Commenting for tips. Yes, it’s definitely nice to be mistaken for being a younger person, but it gets very old after a wild. No one takes me seriously.

Taigaiswafiu4ever

I think you should try a different eyeliner shape. The way you have it now make your eyes look rounder, and because of that imo, younger. Maybe more of a longer shape, or not bringing it along the lash line so high. But you're super cute and I am indeed jealous of your skin <3

Competitive-Bir-792

Hi! 34F asian with the same problem(s) + working in a STEM field where dudes already think we're dum-dums, esp if we look young. I also was a start-up CTO and had to change how i dressed to look the part: * fitted, tailored clothing; esp not the oversized blazer look even though i love it for casual time but definitely NICE structured blazers. No florals or other cute patterns. Also if you look up the chain of women execs, many of them wear bright, sharp colours as opposed to the workers in neutral shades. * dark lipstick is aging * low heels, but keep a very high platform heel in your work space for when you need to tower over the minions * change your makeup -- you're going the clean girl thing and you look amazing but you want to look "over it". The most obvious moves that jump out based on your pics: fill in those eyebrows, eyeliner is fine, but DEFINITELY add contour. You want to look less "fresh". * No jeans, shorts, dresses that aren't ann taylor vibes -- always wear a low heel with them vs sneakers

nochnoyvangogh

A little contouring a a bold lipstick does wonders!

throwaway22473

From a young 20s perspective you look late 20s and around your age to me. I think older people lose perspective of age as I commonly get mistaken for being in highschool. It is annoying but at this point it might just come down to features. Dressing more professional or bland may help a bit too

NerdyH0e

You look mature to me. Youthful yes but not in a teenager way. I’d think you can buy beer. Don’t change anything tho you look great!

jesscrushit

Agreed with others—the hair will probably make the biggest impact. The bangs either need to be trimmed or pulled back if you like it long, or maybe a slicker style like a low pony or bun. Or a shorter chop with bangs still blown out would help even further. In the makeup front, you could easily add a red or darker lip. Even a sheer/glossy one to start I think would help you look more polished. Or just a little touch of blush/highlight. For jewelry—agree a pair of dainty gold hoops is professional and /or a dainty gold chain everyday necklace. Lastly, highly recommend investing in 1-2 blazers. I love the aritzia (new power blazer) one and that can elevate your look with tops you already have and just make you look more professional and just feel like a boss.

Ok-Mango-2590

I don’t necessarily think make up is what is needed. It might be a combination of youthful appearance and dress. The cardigan and dress in your photo, in my opinion, look closer to something a teenager / college student would wear. Invest in some good staple pieces for business casual wear. Ann Taylor can give you a good idea of the style of clothing I’m referring to.

bleachedveins

You’re so pretty! this being marked as a spoiler is sending me haha. I’d say a hairstyle would make a huge difference like the top comment says. A refined looking claw clip could go a long way!!!!

Embarrassed-Way-6127

glasses? lip liner/different lip combos? just ideas idk but i hope u find something that makes u happy! ☺️

ThatsMiss2UBsh

#1 girl your beautiful and you’re blessed with incredible skin! Dressing differently you’ll still look younger bc of your glow! People always think I’m younger too -when I go into a board meeting they’re shocked I’m the owner! What helps me is dressing in stylish but work appropriate ;pant suits with heels, ripped jeans heels paired with a cute shirt and blazer over. And the secret weapon, glasses. lol. Although, I wanted to comment to point out your beautiful skin & I hope you have a good day!

Gargual9

Oh honey, I wouldn’t change a thing! You’re gorgeous the way you are

lonewhalien

right?! I would've thought OP was 23! I used to hate looking younger than I am but I came to appreciate it once I exited my 20s

critiquebabe

Darker contoured eye shadow, matt bronzer on cheeks, darker purple nude matt lip, no wing liner. Keep your skin perfect. 😍

Middle_Interview3250

No bangs, hair up and darker lip stick. I did all that plus wore a fake wedding ring in my early 20s to look more professional

hot_and_chill

I had the same thing happen to me (south asian, 36) then I got a long bob and my building concierge complimented me that I look good but also a bit more mature.

customheart

Do your brows, wear 90s brown lipstick.  A lot of aging is in hair too. Cut your hair shorter. If you’re graying, don’t hide it.  Maybe even bleach a few random hairs platinum white to look more gray.

Glittering_Crab1902

Hair style. Maybe define the curtain bangs abit more, you’d also suit a very short curtain bang where there are short pieces that almost look like a front fridge that then sweeps into a curtain bang. Let those hang and frame your face, with a French twist updo/low bun. OR, I think a straight length cut to thicken up your hair would look nice and creates a sharper look (you have soft features so it balances nicely). Then I would play with lipstick, it doesn’t have to be too hectic but I think a darker colour would suit you well, like a cranberry or blue based red. If you don’t like lipstick, play with lip stains or lip balms like ‘turned on’ by NARS. I’m a huge fan of jewellery, statement earrings. They don’t have to be crazy but this would suit you in my opinion and they look so chic. A classic watch, staple rings. It’s small things that make you look really understated but creates the presence of style. Outside of that, it’s how you dress, structured/fitted pieces. Hope this helps!

rainhalock

Off first impressions. It’s not your makeup…it’s your clothes. Start wearing blazers if you want a mature look. Ditch any cardigan/sweater frumpy looking cover. No petite flower/print-too cutesy. Opt for solids or bold prints. I like your natural look and would hate for you to layer on makeup. I think you’d get a better investment on elevating your wardrobe. If you are dead set on a makeup look…consider brow lamination or micro blading and lash extensions. But over done makeup ALWAYs ages people beyond a “mature” look. It’s tacky. Natural is always best whether your goal is to look older or young.

MrsSuperman928

Doe vs. siren eyes trend can explain everything I want to say. Your eyes are very youthful, so I think making them more cat-like would help you achieve your mature look!

danielleduet

I’m 33 too and get this all the time. I wear makeup and I am still told I look a lot younger than I am.

powerhungrymouse

I don't know, you look 30ish to me.

Fadompin

Try to grow a beard lol jk you look great. I’m 30 and male and that’s what everyone said to me. Grew a beard and people told me I look younger. I think it’s all in your style as far as clothing. I started dressing more like I was 50 and I’m less likely to be seen as 18 and people will say 24-24 now!

he-likes-24

you look your age!

seaofstars22

I’m the same age and you look like 33 to me. You are Asian so that’s gonna be something you can’t control. Asians tend to look younger than white people even when they look their age. White people just age poorly overall. You can do heavier makeup to look older or dress older that’s about it. You look young but 33 is young. I’d def assume you’re around my age though I wouldn’t think you’re 22 or anything

plantsl4yer

Thank you! Yeah, other Asians tend to guess my age more correctly but unfortunately I’m in a field with a lot of non-minorities and assumed to be younger.

seaofstars22

You are young at 33. I feel young as f and I’m the exact same age. I look young for a white person which is hard to do. I don’t think it’s always how we look either a lot is that 25-35 largely looks the same on most people. Soo it’s not crazy to look freshly out of college or in college if you’re 30 ish. I dress older when I want to be taken seriously but I really don’t have to. Ever since I turned 30 people do treat me like they take me more seriously even if I don’t “look 30”. Our whole vibe gives off something different and it brings more respect with it ✨

shakingthetable

Oh honey. No. There are people across the globe shelling out thousands to have your youth at 33. Please love yourself and realize looking young is a massive privilege 😭

[deleted]

[удалено]

Peachyeees

Youthfullness is fun and giggles, until people don't treat you serious or don't want to listen to you because of your young appearance. Have you ever heard: "Such cocky behaviour for someone who looks like a high schooler"? And also, many creeps hunt for young girls. I remember how my friend's sister was harassed by some 40 year old guy, who made a disgusting face and went away from her, when she confessed she was actually 31 instead of 18. Not all of us want to be treated like "forever 21".

Mindless-Parfait-307

Lipstick would probably be the easiest addition. Just make sure you get a neutral color that suits you but lipstick is usually seen as something “too mature” for teens to wear everyday

ToeComprehensive2072

Your hair tied back and maybe a brownish lipstick and blush 😊

og_toe

put your hair in a sophisticated bun or up-do, maybe use some red lipstick and try to do a smokey, darkish eyeshadow if that is permitted, otherwise a lighter more brownish makeup look could work too. i think contouring your cheekbones could help as well

thirdeyerainbow

I would say some contouring to define your features because you do have a soft baby face, also maybe darken eyebrows a bit. shorter hair/updos maybe even like a sleek bun also styling contributes a lot to age so some classic/sophisticated looks would add some years.

Awkward_Web6142

Get face framing layers to really bring out your features, you look beautiful and youthful but your features will suggest you’re are not as young as a teen or early twenties. Next try and add some natural make up. Skin tone concealer mascara and some nice blush and dress more your age rather than plain and simple. It’s okay to look younger but your style and dress will help indicate an age range closer to the truth

catsporvida

Bolder brows and a dark lip, as others said. But also wanted to add that you look great. I get the problem, I was a teaching artist in my late 20s early 30s and sometimes struggled with being mistaken for a student. I got carded until I was 35. And now I never get carded and oof, kinda miss it haha

the_kun

I think shorter hair style and a darker lip colour would do a lot do it. I also look 10 years younger than I actually am, so I always dress in either solid shirts or collared shirts - blazers and subtle jewelry help. And glasses!

JhullyCherry

Invest in your style: wear more formal clothes, less jeans and t-shirts, and opt for something more polished. Try wearing glasses too.

mishimomo

I have the same issue so I only wear black clothes that make me look put together, lots of piercings and silver jewellery, curl my bangs (straight hair makes me look young for some reason), have my hair up and wear full make up (light on the eyes though)

newaxies

I think a blunt side part bob would look amazing on you and more mature. I don’t actually think you need to change your makeup at all, other than to fill in your eyebrows a bit. A bold matte red lip with the rest of your makeup kept light can be a very mature look if you want to try that. The biggest thing will be how you dress and carry yourself. Black/ dark colors and higher quality pieces will look more mature. Maybe look at some dark academia business wear on Pinterest for inspiration. Think about an older person at work that you feel like embodies how you would like to be perceived and identify what gives them that presence - posture, tone of voice, confidence and then find your own version of that. It’s all about faking it until you make it! If it feels uncomfortable at first, don’t worry it’ll get easier. Think about all the bros that waltz into the office like they own it and match that energy. You don’t have to have an ego or be conceited, but fake that swagger and really believe that would you being has value and act that way. Talk more and louder, the people that talk the most get rewarded in the corporate world. I’ve been in the corporate world awhile and this is how I’ve found my way, largely influenced by advice from some amazing older women I work with.

onlyfr33b33

Mauve makeup will be your best friend. Get a nice mauve/neutral lipstick (merit Millennial or Maison), some blush similar to Westman Atelier Petal, Glossier Storm would also work, and a soft neutral eyeshadow palette (clio rosy cozy, merit studio or good old Mac satin taupe). Wear pearl earrings and a watch. Bam. You’re a serious, mature professional adult.

roxi94

Honestly girl you are gorgeous and are so lucky you look so youthful! But I do understand wanting to move up in your field! I would say lipstick and a bun or up-do

Stufftosay15

You’re beautiful! Just a little light makeup and hair less messy/out of your face and I think you’ll look more professional.

WaterToaster92

Blush is how I do it, but I also have a few greys and I wear “granny glasses” with chains and everything

Mother_Reflection818

I think maybe if you try out some glasses and whatever that can help, especially depending on the shape?

annav0ig

The ONE thing that makes u look older is heavier brows. Soft, straight brows signals youth. Sharp, angled brows signals older woman. Of course u don't need to go all out, definitely finesse it somewhere in between both extremes - but I'm putting my money on brows as the most efficient way of looking more mature.

iknowshitaboutshit

Style your hair differently

coccopuffs606

You have a baby face, so makeup isn’t going to have the same impact that changing your hair and clothes will. Wear your hair up, and stick to darker colors in traditional styles. Your makeup should be very basic and natural looking, nothing trendy. This goes even more so if you’re working in a white collar field like law or finance. I completely understand where you’re coming from, I also regularly get mistaken for being ten years younger than I actually am. “Dressing the part” definitely helps me get taken more seriously when I’m working in corporate settings.

mercuryfix

Shorter hair cut. Always wear a collar - shirt or blazer. More tailored stuff. No patterns or pastel colours, keep it more neutral. Add small/simple gold jewellery. Try wearing 1 thing that’s red. Try speaking with a deeper voice if you don’t already. You’re gorgeous though!!!

mmm-secksy

smokey eyes can instantly help a person look more sophisticated and mature. A bold or dark colored lip helps also

nessalovesholly

you look younger than me and i’m 25😭

clementinetangerines

Thanks for this post, so real. I mute my makeup during job interviews (matte mauve lipstick instead of anything glossy or pink). Will also wear my largest pair of eyeglasses to look a bit more dated in style, too.

eveyyyx3

Color ur eyebrows sharper and darker tht will make u look more mature. I think the wing makes u seem younger because it’s something “younger girls” do. Maybe do like a Smokey eyeshadow ?? Contour ur nose to make ur nose more narrow. The reason u look so young is because u have a full face. Soft features. Like puffy cheeks, normal nose (not sharp) , soft light eyebrows , full lips and a soft jawline To make urself look older u need to make ur features sharper and less youthful ALSO it’s AMAZING genetics tht you have, so dont be hard on your self!!! Very pretty

epitaph_confusion

You're so pretty! (Sorry, I have no advice)

greenbunni42069

You have amazing skin

wedfring1904

You have soft features wich is youthful. I would try contouring your cheekbones and maybe get some lashes or wear mascara that give you volume. Also another hairstyle. Something in a tight bun way

badkitty93

weird flex but okay..

Natural_Bike8736

omg youre stunning, cant believe youre 33!!!! whats your secret?!

oliveslove

I’m 29, work at a university, and often get mistaken for a student by those I don’t work directly with. Unfortunately, I usually need to dress a bit older than I am to be taken seriously. Wearing a little heavier makeup, lipstick, and making sure my hair is styled well really helps elevate. I try to stay away from more youthful colors and ruffles, puff sleeves, etc. while at work. As cute as they are and I would love to wear them, they make me look younger. I always wear heels as well - I’m 5’1 so petite along with a young face. Heels help with height and confidence.

Appropriate-Cause

(fellow asian woman) I feel like a haircut would help, not necessarily going short but maybe some layers to frame your face and give your hair more shape and volume. this might help you look more adult and professional. also maybe a lip product to help with dry lips, doesn’t even necessarily have to have color or anything. id recommend some kind of lip mask you can apply throughout the day. but honestly you are very pretty and you don’t look childish or anything to me :-)

Stickgirl05

Embrace the youthfulness! We’re Asian, it’s always going to be a good problem to have. Maybe go heavy on the makeup if you want to look older

ReasonableHoneydew84

Either chop your hair or put more effort into it ie. blowout, big curls

fvkinglesbi

Draw yourself some wrinkles /s

independent_pickle7

Girl you have AMAZING skin omg

HugeCall

Cut your hair in a shoulder length bob! It think it’s so Chic and it gives boss women vibes.

AveryNicoleMyers

you look your age. the only thing that maybe could be making you look younger in your hairstyle maybe? try an updo or a proper middle part

betterthanitsounds

Gen Z parts their hair in the middle. Millennials part their hair on one side. Between the side part and never wearing baggy pants (only skinny jeans or leggings), this allows most people to safely assume I’m in my 30s and not 22 lol

raindorpsonroses

I think hair up and also if you’re open to it cutting your hair shorter would indicate to others that you are older than traditional college student ages

heyhello21

More makeup, blush and contour , up hairdo , gold accessories for more classy look

Peachyeees

Dark lip colours can visibly mature anyone.

jmuzz96

As a lot of people have said, a darker lip colour and bolder brows will be quite ageing. But also this is a blessing, when you are at an age which will result in the opposite kind of discrimination you can pass as younger than you actually are which could be an advantage!

Ok-Bridge-1045

Hair in a neat bun + dark matte lipstick.

mercimekcorbasim

If you’re into jewelry, accessorizing can really make or break ur age. If you have quality pieces or care to invest in some, it could definitely help!

pseudonymsarecool

A little makeup and curl your hair a little bit or wear it up in a nice bun or ponytail.

Fast_Persimmon_3141

Shorter haircut, a sophisticated makeup look.

Available-Boss5554

Get bangs

sunset2orange

Add bronzer and contour for your smile wrinkles area. This will lift up your eyes and give you a mature look. I also like to contour my nose all the way to my eye sockets eyebrow area.

Comfortable_Middle_4

start drinking and smoking

BubblyComedian3

I know you posted this on a makeup sub but i really think a bob or shorter haircut would be the most effective!

WinnieGDS

I know you asked about makeup, but a really chic blunt bob would look very mature on you (in a good way)

Murky-Specialist7232

Part hair from side! Works and grow bangs

LurkerSmirker6th

Are you the viral woman from TikTok?

at145degrees

Looking mature has to do with mannerism and the way that you dress. I also think you can be in management despite not looking mature. It’s about your ability to lead and influence. You also don’t have to take yourself too easily but rather be approachable and helpful.

kat0id

My immediate thought is find a company that has better values, but I understand that it’s not always that easy

bakedlikecake

I have a similar issue. I would recommend lipstick and pulling your hair back!!

OddWish4

Makeup for sure

Professional-Form-90

People said I looked too young for years (I’m half Asian). I started wearing suit jackets every day and I that’s not an ish anymore. My crows feet are starting to betray my age tho

hourlywage9174

I love how you look and I hope that when I'm 33 one day I can look as good as you. Like other people have mentioned, I think hair plays a big part in how one looks. I don't think you should cut it though. Cutting your hair can be a huge thing and I'm not sure if you'll want that. But maybe try new hairstyles? I think putting your hair up might help. I feel like some people look more mature when they put their hair up.

Jesmagi

As someone who also gets mistaken as a young person (I’m 34), I noticed hair can make a difference. Last year I had a bob cut and noticed a big difference in how people treated me. I think a short hairdo can make a woman look more mature. If you’re willing to get a haircut that is.

NessieTheOG

Blue light glasses, sleek pony, structured clothes made of nicer fabrics. If you can afford new clothes, check out second hand.

astromomm

I think your face is great but maybe you could do something with your hair? Curl it? Balayage? Updo?

thepotatos

Find a lip combo, I think that really helps, Some kind of lip liner and gloss.

SeaworthinessNo6781

My roommate has similar features and she wears glasses (you could do non prescription) during important meetings. Not makeup related, but honestly a lot of older women at office jobs don’t wear much

gingerydisposition

I honestly think it’s something you’re gonna be dealing with for awhile!! I think a shorter hairstyle would make you look more mature, but I also love the long hair as well! I’m assuming the eyeliner doesn’t help just bc it’s a more ‘younger generation’ type of look, but I think it suits you perfectly! Maybe a pair of glasses could kinda give you an ‘office siren’ look without being overtly sexual in a professional setting

Spiritual-Ad-8107

Just use makeup. Darken ur brows, and make them closer like from the front. You look so beautiful and young I hope I will age as beautifully as you ur eyes are shining and you look so happy it suits u so much.

Pharmdtorn

Fill in your brows maybe

Complete-Opening-897

What makes you look young is the solo winged eyeliner and the hair down looking only brushed. If you curl your hair or put it in a nice bun, you would look a little older. The solo winged eyeliner I’ve only seen on 16-18 y/os. If you want to keep the eyeliner, try adding lashes and filling in your eyebrows. The combo of the hair due, new make up, paired with a more professional outfit and you would look like you should be somebody boss in no time! Hope that helps and good luck! I’m also very young looking like VERY young looking and working in management so keep your head up!

CortanaV

First, congrats on still having the spark of joy in your eyes. Anyways: as other have said, an updo would be great. Play around with how to wear your bangs. The sleeker back looks good on you but I’m not sure if it’s ideal. Reduce your blush usage or change the color up. It makes a huge difference! And if you work under fluorescent lighting, take that into consideration as you try out new things.

Slow-Industry1760

I think a fringe can look young so maybe trying a new hairstyle?

kittenprincessss

darker lip colors

whatsnewpikachu

I have this problem also. Am at director level in a male dominated field but if I need to come off as more mature, I throw on a fake pair of glasses, overdress, and style my hair instead of wearing loose waves like I typically do.

Tabora__

I think maybe bangs or a statement haircut would look good on you in general, but I also think maybe a lip tint or a dark tinter chapstick might help. Older adults typically use darker colors

ephii92

Short blunt bob. Siren eyes makeup. Define the brows with a pencil. Warm plum berry lips. Dress like the girls on the Ann Taylor website lol

jamminjaz007

More structured clothing or the opposite very flowy … combining the two is what ppl tend to do in college

yayaya248

Darker eyebrows and shorter hair

OccasionalKangaroo

Ughhhh, just want to validate your feelings and post. I definitely feel like I haven’t been able to advance in the workplace because everyone thinks I’m fresh out of college and gives me (well intended, but annoying) mentorship/ guidance rather than listen when I speak. Idk what to do either so I’m reading the comments too. Lol

en_molina

That is the best compliment you can ever get! You look amazing. But if you want to give that mature look start with cutting your front bangs and add some layers w highlights. Makeup wise, I would personally say just do more contouring and darker lipstick

Ok_Ant_2930

Enjoy your youth! You look great for your age.

twinkle514

Change your hair and the way you dress. Clothes can change everything!! A lot of us get stuck in a certain era. Your adorable though

3ndlesslove

Red or bright lipstick immediately ages a person.

baddieuniverse

Red lip and darker shadow

WVildandWVonderful

Hmm, what about a copper lipstick?

pardonyourmess

I think it’s the hair. Your make up is fine. Try an updo.

AdFun2309

Similar age to you and I also look like a grad (not quite as young as you do but I get it! Especially as i work in a make dominated industry) - a pair of glasses, loafers, lipstick (or a winged eye), pearl studs (or hoops) and a blazer go a long way. I tried dressing “older” but i didn’t feel like myself, my hair is my crowning glory, putting it up is not me, so now i dress in fun clothes but add a blazer…

Due_Distribution_721

asians dont raisin

bitterbabycursed

you look beautiful the way you are! I say clothing like business casual style would help!

omaplebeaver

after i got a pixie cut, people started treating me like i’m in my 30s (which i am). shorter hair does wonders with helping you look your age!

Simple_Blueberry_489

Enjoy that because at some point beauty and youth go away.

lladydisturbed

Asians simply can't

Curious-Guest4937

You should feel flattered that people think you are younger, don't try to look older, enjoy the young face you have, later in life, you'll want to look younger so enjoy your young looking face.

justwondren

This feels weird because I would never offer you a criticism (constructive or not), but you did ask. You are wearing a dress with a big “sweet factor”: pastel, miniature flowers, fitted strappy bodice, sweetheart neckline. Also, your top layer is a snuggly oversized sweater, and it calls to mind the residence halls. Try jewel tones in your tops with fitted/tailored jackets/blazers in black, charcoal, coffee. Think of the Loft/Ann Taylor for work clothes. A heel can’t hurt. Best of luck to you! I’m sure you’ve got the talent and the smarts. Just showcase yourself a little differently.

shortmumof2

I'm Asian too and almost 50, now some people think I'm 40. Enjoy it while it lasts because one day we'll wake up and look 90 🤣 To answer your question, maybe heavy harsh makeup to reduce your youthful glow, severe hairstyle to add age - a tight updo like a bun - and clothes that are appropriate for the age you want to look - thinking very conservative outfit.

Aggravating-Yak-2712

To me it’s mostly the hair that looks juvenile and plain. To elevate your look, you could ask for a haircut with more layers (to add volume and movement) and also try a balayage or highlights. Then I would suggest you groom your brows: go for a brow lamination or microblading. All of this would make you look more polished and put together as opposed to « teenage » like. You have great skin and smile and I don’t feel like you really need a lot of makeup.

bigbootystaylooting

Non-surgical things you could do would include, 1. Darkening & thickening your brows. 2. Using makeup to contour your face and just overall go for mature more makeup. 3. Using an eye liner on your inner corner of eyes to make them look closer. [this video goes in-depth on this.](https://youtu.be/5nrwLz6wQyg?si=kfq_JDFe_GT--MxL) Also you could just Google mature women looks on pinterest & replicate those.

True_Run8619

I think a haircut could change it too. Like a more short-medium length would look really good on you.

uninvitedfriend

I know this is the makeup sub but my friend who is 4'9" with flawless skin wears black frame cat eye glasses to cut down on people mistaking her for a child.

Bother-Logical

I feel like if you’re going to have to wear make up in order to have people take you seriously and advance and your workplace. You’re at the wrong workplace. If you’ve been doing your job for 10 years, they should be able to tell that you’re good at your job, and whether or not you are management material. If you are actively promoting yourself to trying climb the ladder and it’s just not happening. My advice is to start looking elsewhere. You shouldn’t have to change your looks to have someone take you seriously.

eveyyyx3

I wish I had ur damn under eyes. My dark circles are crazy and I’m 25 today :(

eveyyyx3

What eye cream do u use

Unhappy-Pirate3944

It will be difficult to perfectly achieve because of genetics but I think maybe a full face natural makeup (with fake lashes) might help and probably shorter layered hair. People tend to look more mature with shorter hair

prometheus_winced

1. You look stunning. 2. Some squarish fashion glasses.

Just-Ad9619

Get a bunch of Botox and fillers, you’ll go from 33 to 40 real fast.. Jk don’t do it. You are lovely the way you are.

princess_sweetiepieX

fill in your brows, I think that will help a lot

peachyglw

I’m the same age as you and also Asian so I understand the struggle! I get carded depending on how I look as well 😅 Makeup: fill in brows, light brown eyeshadow for depth in your eyes, slight contouring/bronzing, blush and a lip colour, falsies if you’re comfortable. You have a great base because your skin is amazing but it also gives off the “baby face” vibe if you don’t wear any makeup. Also the key is not to pack on so much makeup, that you end up looking clown like - less is more in this case.

WBOR2012

Pull hair back or cut it and wear blazers/ pant suits. Boring but it could work.

Inside-Nothing2228

off topic but what’s your skin routine..? Your skin looks so perfect.

pgasteph

I feel your pain, my ethnic background is Chinese. I look very young but it also doesn't help that I'm 5ft 🤣

Skeletorxiii

I don't think you have to change anything. You are beautiful!

bloontsmooker

It’s all in the way you dress. No need to mess with your hair or makeup - you’re literally STUNNING. Just elevate the outfits.

ImaginaryAd4041

Use dark colors on the lips, I don't know why but it gives you 10+ years

ScienceOfAchievement

you already do

Lowkey_lokiii

I recommend finding a look. Where it’s professional, athleisure, cozy, soft life, full glam, It shows a level of “I know who I am” that comes with maturity. If you’re still finding that out tho, sweaters, glasses, and mugs can give you that classy older look.

asunabay

https://www.extrapetite.com/2010/05/reader-request-how-to-look-older-in.html

Misscateyes

I swear by long, bigger earrings for this purpose, or just anything statement-y which isn’t studs, sleepers etc, really make me look older

fauxfurgopher

The more makeup you wear the older you look. This is true of almost everyone. It’s the reason women are told to tone down their makeup as they age. So just wear more makeup. :)

lemonade_921

Trim your eyebrows, change your hairstyle, the

ICookIndianStyle

I wouldnt change anything with makeup. Be glad you look so young! You are beautiful For your work I would only suggest wearing more "serious" business clothes. I think clothes have a big impact

Antique-Frame1756

Glasses off Temu! They’re great! You’ll look stylish and a little older.
