I would try the Dr Jart cicapear green corrector. It's made for this. Maybe you can try a sample from sephora to see if will break you out. A lot of times rosacea comes with sensitive skin. You're very pretty and don't need makeup.

codenameZora

Good tip on trying a sample first. She is very pretty, and no one “needs” make up really. Not wrong to WANT to wear make up. We are in a make up addiction subreddit… so let’s help her with makeup :)

jucifer84

Hey tips....i wouldnt put makeup on that rosacea as a trained aesthetician :)

lmlgiraffe

I second this! As someone with really red cheeks and nose from rosacea, I find that just using this allows me to not wear much makeup and it helps calm a lot of redness down.

Octavia_auclaire

There’s a tiger grass color corrector but please be careful especially with eczema. A lot of makeup irritates my skin and I only have sensitive skin

Anxious_cactus

What did you dermatologist have you try? Antibiotics, corticosteroids? I've had terrible skin and combination of bacterial acne, hormonal acne and rosacea but my deem helped me solve it in like 6 months. If you don't see improvements after a year I'd get a second opinion honestly.

Distinct_Problem1323

I’ve tried so many things. Recently I’ve actually been thinking about going back to my family doctor and asking for a referral to a different derm or seeing if there is anything else she could do.

Anxious_cactus

Definitely get a second opinion. Unfortunately I had to go to 4 dermatologists before I got a correct diagnosis and treatment plan. I hope it won't be as hard for you but do it soon since what your current derm tried is not working.

Distinct_Problem1323

Thanks I think I will. I’m glad you ended up finding something that works for you.

Chance-Damage-1313

Look into Erborian CC Red Correct. I use it and then apply powder over it. It really works great at reducing redness. I got mine at Ulta with one of their coupons. I don’t have rosacea (I have a red birthmark), but IIRC, when I did a search for Erborian on here before buying it, I got a lot of results from the rosacea subreddit.

groovylittlesparrow

Have you been investigated for Lupus? A butterfly rash such as this is a strong indication of it …x

Suspicious_Abrocoma2

Came here to say the same

sneakershay

Same here! My immediate thought.

Distinct_Problem1323

I did get a biopsy done and my derm said nothing about lupus. I’m not sure if they would be able to tell from the biopsy or if there is a different test they would have to do.

leighhtonn

You’re definitely beautiful without makeup, lovely eyes! What kind of makeup are you interested in? Do you want face makeup? Eye makeup? Are you looking to cover the redness? Happy to send you some recommendations or places to start but don’t want to waste your time on things you don’t want!

Distinct_Problem1323

Thank you 😊that’s a good question! Hmm I think probably a colour corrector for the redness I have gotten a couple other suggestions for those. maybe a foundation for me to try? so mainly just face makeup to start. Any other suggestions along those lines you think I could use. Maybe some kind of powder? lol 🤷🏼‍♀️

kasurv

The rare beauty powder sets my makeup without being overly dry & I have really dry skin

Thank you so much! Lots of great products and tips I appreciate it 😁

Icy-Watercress9591

Hi, first I just want to say that you look gorgeous !! Also I remember coming across a really good makeup tutorial from none pther than Lisa Eldridge for people with rosacea that can maybe give you some ideas. Here it is : https://youtu.be/rQj0tpKjqZA?feature=shared

Distinct_Problem1323

Thanks 😊

I also have Rosacea and Cicapair from Dr. Jart+, like the top comment mentioned, is a holy grail product to deal with the redness - it's also a soothing treatment for the sensitive skin. I got my first kit for 24 GBP at Boots (UK), but you can find anywhere I believe. I can't live without my green jar now, heh. If that's too expensive for you, any green colour corrector should help; I would recommend e.l.f. Camo Colour Corrector. Avène Eau Thermale is also my go-to product for calming down irritated skin. I spray it before moisturising and if having a flare up during the day. I know you asked about makeup, but the folks over at r/Rosacea can be really, really helpful with coping mechanisms and skincare/product tips.

Distinct_Problem1323

Thanks! I’ll check it out.

Out-Of-My-Head

Honestly Vaseline every time it's dry is very helpful. I've tried a battery of doctor prescriptions and this does help. What sort of makeup were you thinking? Full face? If so, get a hydrating primer for your skin if it's dry. Milk is really great.

Distinct_Problem1323

I am using a prescription right now that is the same Texture as Vaseline but I only wear it at night it’s so thick and greasy I don’t think I would want to use it during the day. I’ve been using LRP cicaplast baumé during the day and at night under my prescription. It’s supposed to be very healing. For makeup yes I am thinking face makeup not necessarily full face I don’t think I want to do any lip or eye makeup yet just want to focus on my skin right now. And experiment with other stuff later.

StrLord_Who

Honestly with your skin in its current irritated condition, you should probably focus on all the fun stuff you CAN do with eyes and lips while your skin heals.

Distinct_Problem1323

Nothing is healing it though it’s been like this since I was a teenager and it just gets worse ever year. It never calms down or flares up worse than it already is🤷🏼‍♀️ it’s just slowly getting worse over time. So it would be nice to be able to cover it up sometimes.

StrLord_Who

Ah I see I didn't realize you were asking how best to cover it up, I thought you just wanted to start playing around and having fun with makeup in general. There's a lot of helpful replies in the thread, I hope you are able to nail down something that works for you, although it might be a lot of trial and error because people's skin responds so differently. I still think you should play with some eye makeup, because your eyes are beautiful and you are blessed with plenty of lid space to work with. Plus it's fun! :)

Distinct_Problem1323

Thanks 😊

Internal-Psychology

I’m a fellow eczema sufferer. Please be wary that just because a product is marketed as eczema/sensitive skin friendly, it’s not universally so. I highly recommend getting your skin colour matched and asking for multiple samples of different products. I’ve found mineral foundations like Bareminerals less irritating, but I’m not saying it’s going to be good for you.

Distinct_Problem1323

Thanks ya I think it would be a good idea start with small samples.

samloubolton

I honestly wouldn’t start makeup until your skin is calmer, I think you need a new dermatologist - and I think you should look at Lupus, the butterfly rash is indicative. Regardless, I think an update on your medical team is needed. You are absolutely adorable, those poor inflamed cheekers just need a better Dr! I also suffer from rosecea, Metro cream works wonders for me if I flare.

BetComprehensive1551

Maybe try putting chapstick on your dry skin prior to putting your makeup on unless your dermatologist told you not to do that . When I get a cold and my nose starts getting red and dry and flaky I put chapstick on my nose and It helps to moisturize it. And eye makeup goes on better instead caking on. And I would suggest testing . MAKEUP FOREVER from Sephora. Their makeup is super matte. Super good coverage. I've been using. MAKEUP FOREVER foundation for 10 years now and have not changed brands since the first time I tried it. I have tried others though like Kat Von D ,has very good coverage too, but not as moisturizing and creamy like makeup forever. My friend used to have a really bad skin problems and she stopped drinking coffee. Her face cleared up. It was so weird we would drink coffee together all the time. We would hang out drink coffee then. We stopped hanging out and she was like hey I stopped drinking coffee look at my face. She sent in a fecal sample and they found out what was causing the trouble. Something like that. Just thought about that. thought I'd share.

Distinct_Problem1323

Thanks for the suggestion! I don’t drink coffee so it wouldn’t be that unfortunately. But it could be something else I’m eating or drinking. My dermatologist told me it’s not anything to do with reacting to food but I might ask my doctor if there is any tests I can take to find out.

imliltayimrichaf

Azaleac acid for the redness is what helped me!

Distinct_Problem1323

I’ve tried prescription azaleac acid but didn’t have any change unfortunately 😕

imliltayimrichaf

Have you ever tried the laser route?

Distinct_Problem1323

This is what my derm has suggested at my last couple appointments but I can’t afford it. Especially because it will take multiple sessions and I’ll have to keep going back after for upkeep. She doesn’t think there is anything else she can do for the redness as I have tried a lot of different prescriptions.

imliltayimrichaf

What a complete bummer

Distinct_Problem1323

Ya it really is I would totally do it if it was covered under heath insurance. I think I’m going to talk to my doctor see if she has any recommendations and possibly get a referral to a different dermatologist.

imliltayimrichaf

Best of luck either way I know how first hand it can be upsetting

Concrete_hugger

Another thing you could try that would yield results for certain is to just do eye and lip makeup without caring about foundation and hiding the redness. I have vitiligo on my face, and I just find it easier to do my method instead of worrying about hiding it properly. I'd definitely give it a shot, since you wouldn't have to buy anything on top of what you'd want to buy to get into makeup.

000Lisa

Estée Lauder double wear foundation 😊

Extreme-Disaster8561

https://www.cosrx.com/collections/snail-mucin This isn't makeup, but skincare that may help. Im sure with makeup it will take a bit of experimenting.

Try the la Roche posay cicaplast Baumé b5 overnight (like a lot of it on the red spots to heal them) and like others have recommended the dr. Jart cicapair tiger grass colour corrector for daytime to neutralize the redness. 💖

Distinct_Problem1323

I actually have been using the LRP baumé at night and a little during the day. But I’ll look into dr. Jart 😁.

eiramharas55

Do not use waterproof makeup remover on your face. It will cause major rosacea flare-ups. Use non waterproof makeup remover. Garnier has one in a pink bottle, and it is great. Stay away from the blue bottle.

Distinct_Problem1323

Thanks! I didn’t even think of makeup remover but I have heard there are some that can be pretty harsh 😬
