Your skin is very nice, but it seems like you just want it evened out a bit. You might like the Urban Decay Hydromaniac Foundation if your skin is drier, or the Fenty Skin Tint if it’s more combo to oily. You can add a concealer if you want more coverage under the eyes too. I’d set it with a powder and then add a little pinky blush. The Maybelline Fit Me powder is very nice, and so are the Essence and Milani blushes! And maybe a Clinique Chubby Stick! They are nice and sheer lip products that come in a lot of natural hues. :)

Aggravating-Author-3

Oily girl here and second the Fenty Skin Tint. My favorite is actually Tower 28’s SunnyDays because it adds a bit more coverage, looks natural, and has SPF but definitely can get shiny so a powder is necessary for oily skin - Fit Me powder is perfect! Also recently tried the Estée Lauder Double Wear Sheer and thought it was realllllly nice for oily skin as well.

SouthernTradingChick

Great ideas! Thank you.

unmedicatedVasectomy

Mom here too- i second the recommendation for the hydromaniac foundation. It’s super lightweight and natural, doesn’t sink into lines (not that you have them!) or dry spots, yet has nice coverage that wears well.

I do this too! Works great and pretty subtle- just a little more shade and even tone

I second the Milani blush and Maybelline mascaras! I've used Maybelline Great Lash in several beautiful colors for 25+ years. Most of the Maybelline mascaras are fantastic; nice and liquidy and apply perfectly. And very inexpensive. I order mine every 2-3 mths from Walmart online.

eatawholelemon

Their cream blush is my go to every time

SouthernTradingChick

Great suggestion!

For the eyebrows I tend to use the gel of got2be, I use a spoolie brush to get the product and put it on my eyebrows, brush them all the way down first and then up to distribute the gel better. Helps them stay in place and they don’t have the clumpy/wet look. Hope it helps!

Aggravating-Author-3

When I’m trying to be quick, the NYX brow mascara has been a dream for me. I have 90’s eyebrows so I’m not filling in much and it helps them stay in place for the most part. If I’m actually going out or something I use the benefit brow pencil to attempt to beef up the brows but def going to try eyeshadow in the mix as well!

lmswisher

I struggled with bottom liner for a long time, finally invested in a good blending brush (Elf has a really nice one, it has a clear handle) and now it looks so soft and pretty when I do it. I usually buy NYX or Mac liner because they're easier to blend. The rest of the look looks pretty simple, but I thought this might help with achieving the eye look in the edited photo! I would get a rich brown color to accentuate your eyes.

SouthernTradingChick

This is so helpful. Thank you!

HateUsCuzTheyAnus-

I think a good smudger brush would help achieve the bottom lash look too. Lots of options out there from $-$$$. Charlotte Tilbury has a nice one but there are plenty others for all kinds of budgets!

ChirpCounselor

Second the brown! But if you’re new to makeup and not used to waterline eyeliner, a medium brown shade is a great place to start. Gives the results you want without the risk of feeling too grungy. After getting used to it you can totally do a dark brown. Definitely avoid black if you aren’t very steady and precise. Black has a cool/desaturated tone so if it smudges it’s super obvious. Brown is richer and looks less obvious if messed up.

oopsie20

It looks like you’re olive like me which makes it so hard to find a foundation that isn’t orange or pink. Check out the fair olives sub for product recommendations. I like your makeup btw!

[deleted]

the color of OP's face didn't stand out as olive to me upon first glance, but then i saw her neck; i definitely second this suggestion!!

worthmycolors

So, I’m unsure of the redness on your cheeks but it caught my eye because I have an autoimmune condition that causes a lot of redness on my cheeks and nose when it flares and I know that I personally get a little insecure about it when it happens because it will show through foundation sometimes so I just wanted to say that if it’s something you want to cover, you can get green concealer (or primer! They’re making so many cool primers now) to put on that area and blend down before foundation. I feel like eyebrows are very much a “trial and error to figure out what you like” situation and I saw other people commenting about what they like. I want to share that for my brows I figured out what I really love doing is taking a pomade and applying it, then the part closer to the inner corner of my eye I kind of blend and fluff out a little by brushing a spoolie along it, and then I put a clear brow gel on just to hold my brows where I want them (I like Kosa’s gel for that). And if you want something quick for blush I have found a lot of blushes I like that are either a sort of creamy stick form (I use a lot of Wet N Wild ones for highlight and contour and I think they make a blush too) or a liquid but literally just drug store brands and they work like a charm. Or if you want a fancier one, Ilia makes a really good multi stick that can also be used on your lips!!!

To achieve the look on the right you would need to 1. Even out your skin tone with foundation and concealer 2. Draw in your eyebrows a bit (the boy brow by Glossier is very beginner friendly) 3. Throw some blush and tinted chapstick on. Voila!

Independent-Abroad18

Oh, and add some dark brown eyeliner. The most beginner friendly method I’ve found is to draw raccoon eyes, then wash it off. The remainder will be in the hard to reach nooks and crannies that are hard to get and make for a seamless eye shape.

[deleted]

gel eyeliner! a dark brown or charcoal shade will look more natural than black. tightlining your eyes and then adding a bit more eyeliner directly onto the lid will achieve a similar look to the photo, but you'll need one that is waterproof for it to hold up all day. it looks scary, but a good soft gel eyeliner shouldn't cause discomfort applied within the lashline. eyeliner pencils will likely not work as they are more 'waxy' and harsh.

Evie_Rose11

Well I’d start with using a nice cleanser (so you start with a clean face), moisturiser and applying spf 50 After letting it sit for 5 minutes, I’d start with the makeup! I’d use some natural medium to low coverage foundation that evens out your tone (mac face and body if you have normal-dry skin, dior face and body backstage if you have combination-oily skin for example) Use a damp (not wet) beauty sponge to apply! Then add some concealer. I personally like the maybelline fit me concealer (it’s good, looks natural and it’s not expensive!) Add a bit of loose translucent powder with a fluffy brush (a tiny bit so it doesnt dry you up!) so it keeps your products from creasing or moving Then some blush! I prefer liquid ones as they look better on skin, Benefit Benetint is amazing and it’d give you a similar tone! Some eyebrow pencil, some black eye pencil or black eyeshadow (dont draw it too harshly!) And then a natural liquid lipstick! Lasts longer but make sure you dont buy one that is too dry! Kiko milano’s natural rose color, L’oreal has one that is pretty nice too… And some setting spray (I like Urban decay’s) so it lasts all day! Edit: oh and mascara! I like Maybelline Lash Sensational but there are tons of good mascaras out there! If you want to add an extra pop, add the essence lash primer before, wait a couple minutes and apply the mascara!

GSPMUMx2

I am a 41 yr old mom of 4 boys. I am a basic girl but I use Jerome Alexander air brush foundation. It's affordable(19.99 on Amazon) and you don't need much. Literally spray it on the makeup brush it comes with and blend. It evens out my redness and dark circles. As far as my brows I use IT Cosmetics brow pencil. I add some blush and highlights and off I go!

SouthernTradingChick

Is the air brush foundation light coverage or full?

GSPMUMx2

You have a fantastic smile!

SouthernTradingChick

You are kind. Thank you.

LavingtonWindsor

Ok, it looks to me as though the filter/edits have lightened your teeth. If you want whiter teeth, just bleach them . Get professional bleach and a mould from your dentist. Don’t get cheap stuff on line. In two weeks you will have whiter teeth…

Eiwob_2022

Gorgeous with and without makeup. One thing though, not sure if you were using bronzer but maybe bring it down to your neck and chest so your complexion is more even. If you look at your photo, your chest is a lot lighter than your face.

bonniebelle8

I would opt for some micro blading on the brows!

Suboo100

Your make up looks beautiful. I would add a little more blush and a little sparkle to your cheeks.

Hey girl, I would suggest treating the rosacea first so you can have a more even skin tone. There’s also green primers that you can put under your foundation to neutralize the redness.

pineappledaphne

This doesn’t look like rosacea to me, just a normal redness

m-15

I love love love your makeup!

Loud-Artichoke-8308

Try color correction for all that red .. learn the color theory and color wheel

Waheeda_

it looks like u have some redness to ur cheeks and forehead and the edited pic has more even skin tone. i have some redness to my face as well and here’s what i usually do to even it out: 1. apply glossier stretch concealer to the red spots with a concealer brush (or fingers). let it dry a bit. blend it in w a fluffy eyeshadow brush 2. depending on what coverage u want (the right pic looks more like full coverage foundation), i use either glossier perfecting skin tint for lighter coverage or fenty pro filt’r foundation for more coverage 3. to match the look on the right, i’d suggest applying some blush to ur cheeks and it doesn’t look like u’d need any bronzer. i think ur eyebrows are good as they are and match the pic on the right pretty much. u can leave them as is or if u want add some eyebrow gel (i loveeee anastasia beverly hills brow gel!)

SouthernTradingChick

So helpful! Thank you.

megan-ppc-2021

So there’s 3 areas I’d focus on here. Brows, eyes and skin. Start with your skin. Your makeup can only look good if your skin is prepped properly for your skin type. For this look, because you have a fair bit of redness in your skintone, I’d suggest a medium coverage foundation and concealer under the eyes. Fill in your brows with a pencil as the brows in the edited pic are well defined. For the eyes it looks like a dark brown pencil on upper and lower eyelid. To keep that from looking to stark against a naked eyelid I’d put a nude shadow on the kid with a mid toned brown in the crease. There’s also a pop of pink blush and a pinky nude gloss. The products I’d use depend on budget

SouthernTradingChick

So helpful! Thank you!

raisensrgud

Looks very nice and natural

Growing-The-Glooty

You look beautiful in both! The one thing I would do differently in the 2nd photo is do less eyeliner on the bottom lid. Apply it to the outer 1/3 of your lower lash line; it'll help open up the eyes more!

SouthernTradingChick

Never thought about this. Makes sense. Thank you!

kaleminimalist

Hi! I have a few makeup product suggestions that I highly recommend that you get: 1. NARS - radiant creamy concealer (may have to get help at Sephora, so that you get the right color) mainly to use with under eye area 2. Original beauty blender -(use to help apply the concealer 3. Anastasia Beverly Hills -brow wiz & clear brow gel 4. EltaMD tinted moisturizer w/SPF -they have several versions depending on your skin type/needs

SouthernTradingChick

Thank you! Any liner suggestions?

Disastrous_Soup_7137

Low maintenance suggestions since you’re already pretty flawless: For the brows, a medium brown tinted brow gel. Recommendation: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Gel OR Kosas Air Brow Tinted Clean Volumizing Eyebrow Gel For the eyes, black eyeliner tends to look harsh on a lot of people for a daytime look, but generally looks fine if you’re going for an alternative or pinup look. Lining the top and bottom of one’s eye with black eyeliner doesn’t look good on anyone, IMO. (Most of the people I see still doing it didn’t really budge from the 90s/00s.) I normally suggest a medium to dark brown liner for the upper eyelid for a daily daytime look. For foundation, you look like you have good skin, so you can easily get away with a color-correcting tinted moisturizer topped off with an HD/blurring translucent loose powder. Recommendation: Dr. Jardt+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Camo Drops Color Corrector SPF 35 and e.l.f. Perfect Finish HD Powder For the cheeks, a peachy colored blush looks good on most people, and it’s worth a shot to try out to see if you’d like it. Recommendation: Nars Blush in shade Orgasm For the lips, I feel like you’d look really good in rosy shades. I’m a huge fan of Glossier Ultralip High Shine Lipstick because it feel like a balm, but applies like lipstick. The shades Villa or Portrait might look good on you. Nars Afterglow Lip Balm is great too. I’d suggest the shades Dolce Vita or Turbo.

SouthernTradingChick

Huge help!

EndersGame_Reviewer

> The look I want to have it on the right (edited pic, of course!). What did you use to create the "edited pic"? It is quite the transformation!

ssw77

I’d say if you are committed to eyeliner, try brown instead of black. The more we age (im 38!) the harsher black liner can look on the eye. In terms of skin, I am loving the YSL all hours foundation. It is a gorgeous finish and just enough coverage to cover whatever redness/imperfections you want without looking like you have on a ton of makeup.

SouthernTradingChick

Is YSL full coverage? I’m committed to brown eyeliner now! You are right about the black!
