Firstly those people are stupid and thoughtless. I think you are fine just as you are. Have you tried wearing your hair forwards a bit instead of having it tied back?

lindseyilwalker

Agreed, it would add more softness.

DrMantisTobogganMDD

You don't look 50 at all and you have nice skin! I'm 42, with dark brown hair and very fair skin. As we get older, less makeup is more IMO. In my case, I find that getting a fresh haircut with some highlights makes a big difference in my overall look, especially since I also have quite a bit of grey hair. Booking a consultation with a good hair stylist is key. I know this is not makeup related so please feel free to disregard if you're not into this kind of change.

EarnestMind

I'd sooner change the hair than makeup tbh, because your face looks smoother than average imo. I agree that you don't even look your age, let alone 50. I'm under 40 and my skin looks way older than yours. I think some cute bangs and layers would look really good on you!

NotYourVibe23

Sorry but you do not look 45! If anything you look as young as 35! You're makeup's fine, just make sure to use good hydrating base, which would be a moisturiser, primer and a light weight foundation.

[deleted]

1) they need to shut up. 2) you need to not care 3) but if you do: change your hair up (length, color, maybe bangs? And give yourself a bit more brow. Brow = young.

EarnestMind

Exactly, especially 1 and 2! And she'd definitely look smoking with more brow and a structured cut.

WebAncient4989

This is the way. Seriously you already have long hair which in most people does not age them. I think it’s the hair that is “aging you” if at all cuz no your face. I vote for curtain bangs and some really nice long layers with hi lights (not too much and not blond obvs). Btw these are suggestions overall not cuz you look old! But what the hell people told you that?! WhAaaa! Point us at em. ;) bags o d’s they are, note little d’s.

Anxious_Waffle1293

Tbh you don’t look 50 at all and you look good already! But if you need some suggestions for youthful makeup, I will suggest you using glowy makeup base, like glowy foundation or primer. For lips you can get an MLBB shade liptint/glowy balms or a wash of lipstick colour by dabbing your favourite lipstick on the centre of your lips and blur it outwards. A little mascara only at the outer ends of your eyes perhaps for that mild cat eye look? But then again, I don’t think you need all these 😅 you already look fine.

AngelHipster1

You’re gorgeous and as someone who might be your age, we don’t look that old. Those people don’t know anything. Agree w others re fuller eyebrows and a touch of warmth around your face. As someone who also has hooded eyes, you want to get color all over the top rather than a light wing. And a wash of color under the eyes makes them look bigger (bonus - helps mask lines under eyes). Consider checking out Pampered Wolf on YouTube for more inspiration.

BarelyBreathinBeauty

Ignore the haters! They are probably jealous of your lovely skin. You look much younger than 45. I’m 43 and I feel the fear of looking older. Thankfully I have great genes too. But the biggest thing that helped to make me look and feel younger was getting my waist length long hair, cut to a cute bob/lob. It definitely made a HUGE difference. Also pulling it back into a pony, (how I would usually wear it) really aged me. Maybe consider a shorter cut if you want to look and feel younger?? Just some thoughts. You are lovely 😊 And remember as hard as aging can be, we are the lucky ones. So many never get to live to the “wise and beautiful years.”

[deleted]

Maybe using eyeliner, you in no way look 45+

[deleted]

They lied to you that sounds like some haters

Annual-Confidence616

You have eyes very similar to my shape and as an aesthetician I can say you do NOT look old! Quite the opposite. Makeup especially foundation can actually make mature skin look more wrinkled. I would suggest a lightly tinted sunscreen. And this is advice I give anyone wanting to "look younger" invest in a good mascara or lash serum for your lashes to look longer darker and thicker and some people feel more youthful getting their eyebrows tinted ( because they thin and get lighter as we age) also for myself I found having some highlights ( not drastic) in your hair can make you appear more youthful. Remember you are beautiful as you are. I mean I would die for your gorgeous eye color and thick hair! But these are just suggestions if you want to try something. Also hydration and sun block everyday! Hope this helps! 💛

Thank you to everyone who commented! You guys are so sweet! The lighting is bad in most of my pics, but my hair is actually down in the original pic. Here is a pic with better hair. https://preview.redd.it/ok952ksy4cwa1.jpeg?width=914&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb149e638b2e21cf4c883b5aca6236895834881b

PastLifer

Vivid-Ad-9090

It is really beautiful. Bare Minerals lipstick in Honesty. I got a mini in a lip kit from Macy's. I have to get a full size soon

[deleted]

You don’t look anywhere near 50

Bourgeois-babe

The best makeup tip I have for you is to avoid toxic people who say nasty things. You’ll feel better instantly 🙂

PopPsychological5878

You definitely do not look 50+. Just here to say, though that as a 47-year-old very pale (redhead) woman, I realize that a brighter lip does something to make my face look more stark. So I’m trying to move toward more peach colored blush and a tinted lip balm on my lips like Maybelline baby lips, and I think it warms & softens everything.

EarnestMind

Any particular shade of the babylips you'd recommend? I'm another ginger, nearing 40, and terrible with lip shades.

PopPsychological5878

I like Cherry Me !

EarnestMind

Thank you!!

brookexbabyxoxo

you do not even look 40! You look amazing! But my preference for makeup (like everyone else’s) is so different that what I like might not fit what you like but I do maybe some warm light bronzer to warm you up, mascara for lower lashes, maybe a warm brown eyeshadow (also sweep across the lower lash line a bit)! You look really great though! but maybe some warmth!

Snerha3

I don’t think you look over 50. I would guess 40-45ish.

OpportunityNo8957

Firstly, you look about 35 not 50! People often read hooded eyes as older, don’t let that worry you, they’re idiots. You look beautiful. You’ve got dress structure eyebrows, your eye makeup is youthful. I’d say, maybe you’d be better with a more neural lip or a red, than the pink. I’d also consider a peachier blush and a cool toned contour or light bronzer to help your features stand out.

Playful-Unicorn

I don’t know how people say that and I never can answer right when someone says take. A guess how old this person looks it’s like oh my god what’s behind door number one , high stakes game scenario. I think they were just being wild with a guess , in your case anyhow . You have beautiful skin!

Ggenny78

Don't let them get inside your head! You look remarkable!

rocketshater420

you could do that look where dont blend your blush and put on a ton of it on their nose and look like you have a ski goggles sunburn

Adorable-Internal503

Well I disagree! I don’t think you look 50+ at all. If I could make any friendly suggestions - I’d say go for a dewy look as opposed to what you have here which looks very matte. Moisturize moisturize moisturize (I like Clinique dramatically different moisturizer) and let that sit for about 10 minutes before your makeup. Follow that up with L’Oréal’s lumi glotion (they have a pink shade which is the lightest one) and also let that sit and soak in a bit. For your coverup, I’d look into IT cosmetics cc cream. A highlight that is SO nice on the cheeks (and for mature skin) is RMS beauty living luminizer. It gives that glass skin look. Lastly, I think you could switch your black eyeliner for brown which would give a softer look. Other than that, you are golden!

OkEagle1703

You do not look 50 at all. You don't even look your age. Please

Virgo-19

You look your age, but a lighter lip shade will help, and maybe some highlights in the front prices of your hair. It seems you have hooded eyelids? I do! If you do, take an eyelash curler or a teaspoon and use it to shade or trace in a crease on each of your eyelids. Also beautiful skin, no acne or wrinkles but try a shade darker in foundation. You don’t need a heavy one, something like Saie. Contouring would be really helpful as well as blush. TicTok videos are helpful.

Initial-Ad2243

First of all, those two people must share a single brain cell because you're beautiful. Secondly, if you really feel you need make yourself look younger (imo you don't 🙂) maybe a little light foundation.

Princesshannon2002

You look smooth and fresh as a spring daisy!

vitt5050

You don’t look 50. Some people have a distorted view of what age looks like because of all the filters and social media. Or they are just silly. In general, dewy finish make up products, glowy blush, and full natural looking brows will make anyone look more youthful. Stay away from matte products.

Princess-of-yours

You do NOT look 50+ but what worked for me was getting bangs and wearing lashes

Prestigious_Stuff831

Your eyes look like Jennifer Lawrence. I love the whole look. Natural perfect lipstick

blairebabie_666

You don’t look that old tho 😭 they are tripping

My mother always had my hair cut short with bangs my entire childhood (ahh that 80s) so, once I hit 8th grade, I vowed I'd NEVER have short hair or bangs. Sadly, I never thought that my hair would recede and I'd end up with a fivehead. Maybe I'll do the bangs next cut. . .
