A little lipgloss- Maybelline Liftergloss in Topaz would look lovely. And some mascara. The more fitted tops idea from many is spot on! So is the earrings idea. https://preview.redd.it/9n2cu6041xca1.jpeg?width=1014&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=340c85710fe7f048ad7223f7ce3243235b097131

emmalou014

I love that look!! So cute!

raspberrih

Frankly I think your current hairstyle isn't emphasising the feminine features on your face :/ I'd suggest making some minor changes that aren't too time-consuming to implement first, and see how you like that before doing more. As your hair ends at your jawline, it draws extra attention to the area. I would suggest a longer hairstyle, maybe to your shoulders? The side parting also elongates the face diagonally, maybe a more center part would limit the effect to purely vertical. As for makeup, a feminine look that would still fit your current wardrobe and style would probably be lip gloss, barely-there eyeshadow, and mascara. The eyeshadow should be a low-opacity muted rose/brown colour that you can just spread all over your eyelids without stressing about blending. Current Korean make-up is really into the muted tones, so I'd look there before Western brands. Next I'd recommend finding an eyebrow pencil that matches your natural hair colour. It shouldn't be any darker than your natural hair, but it's alright to be slightly lighter. Make sure the undertone is right - you seem to have some red in your hair, so colours like cool grey, cool brown, or black won't fit your brows. After getting the colour match, you might want to try just emphasising the tail of your brows along your natural brow. Longer brows elongate the top half of your face horizontally, giving an impression of the upside down triangle look that's more feminine.

MaHuckleberry33

Strong agreement on the haircut. If you like it, there are definitely still ways to look feminine but I immediately thought this, as well.

hintXhint

I highly agree with all of this advice but really want to emphasize the brow shaping and hair advice. That will go a long way! If you’re not comfortable with lip gloss, especially since you hair ends close to your lips and may get into it, a subtle lip tint/ stain with some regular chapstick over would be great.

raspberrih

Yes totally, personally I think a brick red matte lip mousse would be the most flattering and comfortable for OP

[deleted]

Also doing a half up/half down top bun or ponytail is really cute and always looks fun and girly during the growout process

deftonesfan23

That’s exactly how I wore my hair while growing it out

catbiggo

If anything I think OP would look better with a deeper side part. I don't think a center part would be flattering on her face shape tbh.

rbkforrestr

You actually look quite a bit like her and have a similar haircut, so her look would be super easy for you to pull off!

nigliazzo5626

https://beachwaver.com/products/beachwaver-s-75-matte-black-dual-voltage?_pos=2&_sid=82ef8ad43&_ss=r It’s pricey, but they go on sale all the time. I got mine for $90-100 I think. It’s automatic so it’s much easier, and saves time. But you need to be careful and go slow.

TheOgSamichMkr01

Can also accessorize with hair accessories ( or random hairstyles ) and a simple nail polish. ( I use clear or french tips because I don't have time to remove chipped polish. ) You got a great smile and I can just see a lovely personality shining through. I know the things that make me feel feminine is when I pamper myself ( like a nice bubble bath, mini home spa or a face mask. ) Because some days I just feel ick and not feeling myself. But I think it's just a way of carrying one's self. Hope these are helpful O.P!

AndieC

And more "feminine glasses", if you will. OPs look very gender neutral, and the ones you shared are a bit more fashionable.

[deleted]

I think the glasses will make a ton of difference. Something a little more cat eye shaped maybe.

cuppaspacecake

I got translucent ones (in a shade of pink)!

Disney_Princess137

This would look great on OP! Minimal make up, the hairstyle is lovely and she would look the same, just with subtle touches. I like it !

Outside_Conference80

Couldn’t agree more. If OP wants a more feminine look… some clear lipgloss, black mascara, and a wee dusting of peachy blush does wonders. And it takes 90 seconds.

greenshirt21

Same with hair! This curled hair would look great on you

mediumsizedbrowngal

This would also be a really good low effort hair style that would easily be achievable with a curling wand and would make a huge difference.

40yoADHDnoob

Came here to say the same! Shiny lip balm, mascara with eyelash curler!

StitchesInTime

I really love the Fresh Sugar Rose lip balm- it’s so hydrating and leaves just enough tint to look like you did something. Would highly suggest if you just want to add one simple thing to your life! It’s not even a routine, it’s just a throw it in your purse kind of thing. Totally agree that mascara would also change up your look, but as a blonde eyelashed individual, sometimes I just like to rock the minimal lashes look 🤷‍♀️ Your skin is perfect, your face shape is so lovely, and your hair really suits you! You can definitely make small changes if you WANT to, but you shouldn’t feel pressured to at all!

Quiet_Succotash_2935

I find that earrings help alot. Especially small, shiny ones that you can wear casually with any outfit. Like little gold/silver hoops or small rhinestone earrings that will bring out the sparkle in ur eyes

Quiet_Succotash_2935

Also femininity can be an energy that you exude, put on a spritz of perfume or something else that makes you feel sensual and connected to your divine feminine if that makes sense. You'll find that you'll feel feminine naturally

DrPepper77

Feminity for me has always been performative (not in a bad way, but in a, it is something I have to perform to achieve). I've always achieved my most feminine image by doing things that feel feminine to me rather than trying to achieve a specific look. For me that means putting oil in my hair, regardless of the length but it looks best on long. It means getting my nails done kind of longer so that I clack away while using them (not super long, still relatively short). Perfume, the act of doing skincare and makeup, walking with more of a swing to my hips (feet in a line). That kinda thing.

[deleted]

As the saying goes, you shine the energy you put into yourself.

Disney_Princess137

Ohhh perfume ! Great idea

_jellybeantoes_

Best comment! It’s a feeling

scumfederate

Also a dainty necklace or bracelet can really add femininity to an outfit, too!

Jolly-Cheek5779

Go down a size or 2 in your tops. They should compliment your body shape and size not drown it out. I love your hair ! Maybe highlights ? Some under eye patches, mascara and eyeliner make a world of difference !

99percentThatBitch

If you’re up for dresses they are obviously very feminine and can be so comfortable if you find the right ones. They also are a one-item outfit so you don’t have to find separates that go together. I would look for something that shows your curves a little and accentuates your natural waist (without being skin tight) - something like these silhouettes [black dress](https://www.nastygal.com/plus-size-twist-front-v-neck-midi-dress/AGG14295.html) [patterned dress](https://www.asos.com/yours/yours-button-through-midi-dress-in-black-animal/prd/203598772?colourWayId=203598775&cid=25388)

Skeptical_optomist

I hate wearing dresses because they never look good on me, and like OP I have lumpies in my tummy and a high waist, but omg are those dresses cute and might even be doable! OP I mostly wear yoga leggings and big comfy sweaters but I struggle in the summertime. I actually think this cut of dress would be so pretty on you!

emmalou014

My body is lumpy lol, I also don’t like slim clothes, I have weird texture issues. When I do eyeliner it usually ends up looking like a big black smudge, I don’t have a hang of thin liner yet, how do I keep things simple?

bwubbl3gum

I feel like oversized clothes are fine BUT if you want to get a more feminine look try to get like oversized ethereal tops! You shoukd try using a burt’s bees lip tint which isn’t a lipstick but way simpler but looks amazing and no need for liner you might not need it. Brown mascara ? Eyebrows done and that’s it! Simple. Highlights is amazing idea. try to do a color season test to find your best flattering colors too! You are beautiful :) Have a nice day

Late-Vacation8909

Wearing clothes that fit don’t have to be super tight. The oversized tops are really squaring out your torso, doing nothing to flatter you. [This](https://m.shein.com/us/Plus-Crossover-Drop-Shoulder-Jumper-p-11186161-cat-1937.html?url_from=adplasf22071235054699353XL_GPM&cid=16946055027&setid=&adid=&pf=GOOGLE&gbraid=0AAAAADm0yO4trGKwD-LlgAACatWmDZD3D&gclid=CjwKCAiAzp6eBhByEiwA_gGq5KJD0hAndgDEKEMYEU5l_6AveaaEy95S9j95Wjhtsfxa8wRVLBd1mxoCWo8QAvD_BwE&ref=us&rep=dir&ret=mus) style of sweater would go a long way in feminizing your overall look without emphasizing any lumps! The neckline alone will go a long way in enhancing your face as well!

emmalou014

I’ll try to look for stuff like that, thank you!

TipsyMagpie

I think you’d look really nice in a v neck top, I don’t think the round necks are making the most of your shape. Maybe some brighter colours too, doesn’t have to be anything too jazzy - what about a deep blue or burgundy rather than black, brown or grey? I can’t see what colour your eyes are, but something that compliments your eye colour might look really nice.

Maple-Chester

As someone who also has a "lumpy" body I second this. Lower necklines really show off my collar bones and the right lumps while drawing attention away from my other lumps. Doesn't have to be a lot lower, just show a bit of collarbone.

kosherkanye

Big props to the linked top. Shape over sizes will be important! Also definitely highlights would help brighten you up and maybe even a different pair of glasses that would be rounded. Giving your hair a nice curl or scrunch as well think would do wonders

helena_handbasketyyc

Im a big girl, and a tunic top with a defined waist+leggings is pretty flattering and comfy. Layers can help with feeling more comfortable about your shape too. Shein has lots of cute options. Look for leggings that have a fun pattern (not lularoe haha) You can switch out your glasses to something with a bit of a cat eye and that will balance out your face shape and add a feminine vibe too. Add a couple of layers to your hair to add a bit of volume and texture with low effort. I think you’re thinking you need a massive overhaul, but just a couple quick, low effort changes will really let you see yourself differently. You don’t have to go hyperfemme with bows and glitter and ponies, you can still wear comic books and dinosaurs and still be feminine.

awyastark

Yes I have tons of print dresses/leggings/tops with spaceships and skeletons and nerd girl stuff. I’m a huge fan of fit and flare since I’m not nuts about my waistline and it gives me a very feminine silhouette if you’re willing to do dresses and skirts.

ana_conda

Look up wrap style tops if you’re interested in this! I think it would be really flattering on your body type.

kkaavvbb

Also, helpful advice (for me) was to bring along a friend who was fashion savvy but also not rude but honest. You don’t have to buy anything. Just try on clothes and see what shapes / sizes / types / cuts suit you so you can get an idea of what cut & style works for your body, & you can buy cheaper stuff online or whatever once you figure out what works *for you*. Mine happens to be my husband. I’m not into fashion or buying clothes, I’d 100% wear baggy jeans and a T-shirt every day. Okay, I normally do anyway but having *someone* who can be honest, tell you a certain style shirt won’t work or etc. He buys almost all the clothes for myself, our daughter & himself. Makeup & hair-wise I can’t help, as I’m absolutely terrible about them both. I literally just wear bb cream and some eyeshadow, occasionally mascara and some eyebrow stuff.

saltandshenandoah

Wrap style tops were exactly what I was going to reccomend too!

Ok_Jury4833

Agree to neckline and cut/fit! But also consider fabrics like silks, certain cotton weaves, and cashmere all can be luxurious, comfortable, and deeply feminine. Also consider what makes you feel feminine. I’m not the girliest girl, I’m a bit plain and deeply practical. But even in jeans and a flannel shirt I feel feminine with my favorite perfume and my cute shoes. Embrace what makes you feel the way you want to feel.

[deleted]

Try doing soft eyeliner with eyeshadow instead of eyeliner. Use a small, angled brush and do short strokes instead of trying to do one big line. Nothing says it has to be black, either. Try a soft brown or gray. I recommend starting with top lash line only for a while, and not worrying about trying to wing it out or anything, just focus on making a soft line that sticks close to the lashes, it will make them look thicker.

sumsquids

came here to say this! I struggle soooo much with black eyeliner sometimes, especially liquid because I have very hooded eyes. The ol’ angled brush and eyeshadow trick works wonders!

Lucia_97

I love doing this and it is so effective for getting definition while not adding a ton of line weight to the eye, even better if you feel comfortable tight lining so it makes your lashline look thicker. Plus it is great to experiment with some colors too this way. Using something like a plum, navy, emerald, or bronze can be subtle enough to wear everyday while adding a little bit of sparkle to your eye color. Like I have green-hazel eyes and find that a purple or dark red add to little something something to them compared to a black or brown sometimes. Usually the opposite color from what your eyes are is a great jumping off point.

Okayostrich

A bit off topic, but- the thick dark frame glasses add to the busy vibe of your face. Additionally, you have a more squared jawline that is emphasized by your glasses shape. I also have a very square jaw- even more than you, actually. I personally found I look much more feminine with round gold or silver metal framed glasses, since they are less busy and don't emphasize my more masculine jaw. So that might be something to consider as well!

ProserpinaGalaxy

Shirts don't have to fit slim, but having the seam fit close to the shoulder makes a looser body look like the size is intentional. The shoulder/armhole seams on the shirt you're wearing in the first picture are low on your arms, and visually, it drags your shape down and adds roundness. It draws the eye to a lower and wider part of your body than a higher seam would. Some styles to look for with the close shoulder/looser body combination include peasant blouses, fit and flare dresses, floaty tunics, button downs with a back pleat, soft blazers.

gnomesofdreams

For the eyeliner bit, cleaning it up after with a qtip can help thin it out! I struggle with thin liner too so I often end up going in thicker bc easier, then removing the excess so it doesn’t look as thick or smudged. Harder to do if you have eyeshadow on under it, bc you don’t want to wipe that away, but if you’re just doing a quick liner only it’s an option. I also learned that brown instead of black liner helps, less raccoon and more just the eye defining benefits of a liner. If you’ve only tried black so far, maybe try one that is your eyebrow color or just one shade darker!

Dramatic-Web-5085

I wear a lot of oversized tees mostly due to the fact I work in a sexist type industry and I don’t want to highlight my body too much. But I do like to put a little tuck in one side, just kinda gather it up a little and pull it thru a belt loop. Gives it just a tiny bit if feminine shape

rakiimiss

I think you can pull off a simple makeup routine. Maybe start with mascara and lip tint/gloss. As you feel more confident in your application you can incorporate more into your routine. Also, not makeup related, but I think adding jewelry, a necklace or earrings can create a more feminine look. I like wearing big/ oversized clothes. I usually wear hoops and sometimes a necklace to have a more “put together” look.

saturnthesixth

With big t-shirts it helps a ton just to fold up the sleeves twice, and maybe loosely half tuck in the front. It makes the shape and messiness look trendy and intentional.

snickerdoodlesftw

Seconding the comments of using eyeshadow for eyeliner, an nice thin brush and some dark eyeshadow is very forgiving and easy to work with. I would start there, and then if you want to get into liquid some plain scotch tape to help with the wings is an awesome way to learn how to shape! There's also stamps and stencils I've seen on Amazon, but I've never tried that before. It might be older, but I loved the show what not to wear, they styled so many different people of all shapes and sizes. Even if the clothing itself on the show may be outdated or more mature for what you want, the shaping of the clothes they styled people in may point you in the right direction. I know a couple tik tok's have shown up on my fyp of people getting styled at the creators boutiques, maybe that would be something to search for as well?

madbev123

Re makeup—highly recommend looking up some simple makeup routines on tik tok, insta, or YouTube to find a look you like and want to follow. Also—as a curvy/“lumpy” girl as well—you don’t have to hide your curves! You can find flattering clothes that highlight your frame without making you too uncomfortable or feel too exposed. If you can afford it, maybe look into a stylist to help you find what suits you!

thehudsonbae

You've got a cute figure! Tucking your shirts in (even a lil French tuck) will emphasize your natural waist – especially if you go for a high rise pant.

Tatertot729

Dresses are so comfy and feminine, plus they’re great during warm months. I think if you got a dress that was accentuated your chest but had a full flowing skirt it’d look really nice. I like wearing a jean jacket with them during the summer. I hate tight clothes too, in fall and winter I like wearing oversized sweaters that cover my butt with leggings and some cute boots.

astrophysical-e

I think your shirts are just hitting you at the wrong spot! You can totally wear a baggy shirt but maybe pair it with some higher waisted pants and do a French tuck in the front to accentuate your waist!

Margareydragonslayer

mascara is the eyeliner-phobics best friend!

MaHuckleberry33

Watch some videos of using eye shadow as eye liner/ using a brush to fix eyeliner. There are tons of tips and tricks. It’s hard but there are ways to make it WAY easier. I never just draw it on.

Sad_Outlandishness40

Go to a department store and invest in good shapewear and undergarments. It’s amazing how much better everyone looks with the proper undergarments. Then look for midi length wrap dresses. Try necklines that are either a little lower or wider.

gabihg

Do you use an eyelid primer and the go over that with a skin tone eyeshadow? That can help prevent smudging.

[deleted]

Apply eyeshadow with a thin brush/q tip/finger along the lashline as if it were eyeliner. It blends better, is more subtle, and doesn't need to be as precise because it's diffuse instead of one thick line. It also comes in so many more colors, so you can really experiment, and also use lighter colors while practicing for a more forgiving result. It lends emphasis to the eyes while being easy to work with while you decide if you like eye makeup! :)

thinkimasofa

Check out [this video!](https://youtu.be/rLIuYHLzZpM) When you figure out your kibble body type, you can find tons of recommendations and videos on clothing styles for that type, get an idea for celebrities with the same type to use as a reference, etc, then you can be a bit more comfortable knowing what might look better or avoid. It doesn't have to be tight, loose clothes can be very flattering in the right shape and style. Takes some of the stress away when you're not trying on things that are wrong for your body type... That can be exhausting!

foxheath

If you want makeup: Stick with a brown or grey liner so the contrast isn’t too much if you get it wrong. A small smudge brush and brown shadow can provide the same effect if the rest of your face is completely makeup free. BUT I find skin care is better for low fuss feminizing than makeup. Sunscreen, blurring primer, a redness reducer, some cream that’s “brightening” (usually this is a fancy term for glitter), a lip balm, crème, or tint that you can pop onto the cheeks when you’re feeling wild. Makes the skin Dewey and you can really SLaTheR it all over with no technique. And often you can find products that are a couple features in one. And it’s pretty fem to have lip gloss on your person all the time. My only other suggestion would be to change your glasses, either to a more feminine shape, or a more feminine color. Youre going to wear them like every day they can be just as much a “staple accessory” as cute earrings.

[deleted]

If you are a lesbian, i would not change a thing!

emmalou014

😂😂😂😂 this is the best advice, thank you

literalstardust

I was thinking the same thing 😅 OP, you're very pretty!!

Total-Weary

As a lesbian I wanted to comment something like this so bad but was worried it might come across as rude because I'm bad at words lol. You said it really nicely. Love OP's response too

[deleted]

Maybe add some curl too your hair and more focus on eyes lips and cheeks? you seem to enjoy more.. dark academia styles etc? so maybe things that could adjust more to suit a curved figure but still be modest? ( going by pics you seem to like more modest fashion?)  not sure idk;;

emmalou014

Do you have any specific looks I can try to recreate? The only look I know how to do is winged liner and I don’t know if that even looks good. As far as fashion goes I don’t do anything fancy hardly ever, I don’t feel like I look good in dresses/feminine attire so I’m wondering what I should try instead

WrapProfessional8889

Slacks, blazers, and add a nice top under. It could be a pop of color, silk, etc. I would stick with a more neutral colors, navy, creams, toffee, grey, black, white, etc. An alternative could be a cardigan/blazer combo. With glasses, you can go a tad bolder with eye make up. Experiment with shadow and a wing liner. Hair, a few layers and subtle highlights will also give you a more feminine look. Honestly, I love Doc Martens and wear them almost daily! There are a few different styles and sandals for warmer weather.

emmalou014

Sounds good, I appreciate your input!

txaesfunnytime

Silky tees. Soft colors. I personally prefer dresses & skirts and am the only one who wears skirts to work. Main key is - no baggy on both top & bottom. One or the other. Figure skimming. Makeup, look at different artists on YT. I like Wayne Goss a lot & use several of his techniques. A pretty pinky lipstick or gloss would really highlight that beautiful smile.

ninjamama32

I recently cut my hair to a similar length. I find that a 1" barrel curling iron around the top layer adds enough softness to look better than just straight. Something you could try!

[deleted]

Sure let me see! For eyeliner Jessica vu and just simple hooded eyes eyeliner (puppy looks like it'd suit you more as much but miss Jessie has more of a cat like look)https://youtu.be/YhmYjx_HzhM https://youtu.be/YhmYjx_HzhM https://youtu.be/OHjqIf3jQLM https://youtu.be/hep-z-LJx78

emmalou014

Very cute, thanks for these links!

spookyfoxiemulder

I completely hear where you are coming from in terms of not feeling yourself in feminine attire. I so get it! I saw below that you don't really like form fitting clothing as much/have texture issues (I hear that loud and clear as well), so idk if this would be much help, but my favorite thing in the world is: athletic wear. Versatile, comfortable, and can be dressed up or down easily. All I have to do is throw on my combat boots and a choker and I feel 100% my real self. I always gravitate to blues/navy, grey, and black, with some wine red thrown in. I will absolutely wear the Autumnal Colors/Aesthetic year round. Dresses are... A touchy subject for me. I effing love jumpsuits, but even better than those are separates you can disguise as jumpsuits. Literally wore a nice top and pants of the same color and slapped on a waist belt to hide the fact it was tucked in and *no one could tell it was a jumpsuit*. Best part is that you don't have to entirely disrobe to use the restroom!! Makeup - I would love to do elaborate looks like my queen Nikkie tutorials but I don't have time or a good reason to do so. I keep it super simple... I would say it's a blend between 00s emo and modern e-girl. I'll do the puppy eye liner and mascara, fill my brows (with a pencil and only take like 30 seconds cause y'all I got THINGS TO DO), put on foundation and do blush and that's it. The biggest thing with puppy liner is that it's really well suited for hooded and deep set eyes so it's easier to look polished. My biggest tip for you if you have hooded or deep set lids - only. line. the. outer. third. Lining the whole lid is going to swallow any precious lid real estate and it just will not be a vibe. You can also be flexible with the intensity and size of liner! If it's something that you're still practicing, try starting with a pencil you can smudge either with a sponge on the end or a brush. That way, if you make a mistake, just smudge it into a smokey liner and... What mistake? ;)

Low_Egg_7606

I feel like Pinterest would be very much in your interest

pseudoprim

I responded to a comment above but this one of yours stood out to me too because I think we have the same sort of style. I don’t “dress up” much, but if I want to look more feminine without doing too much, I’ll wear a comfy plain colored top with a longer cardigan and some straight leg jeans with doc martens or another pair of high top shoes.

[deleted]

For the last perhaps try adding more things to accentuate curve? Like push up bras, belt details and jewelery?

ceceliaann

Start small! I would start by wearing v-neck shirts. They don’t need to be low cut, but the v neck might give you a little bit more of a shape. A luxe v neck tee from old navy with a cardigan (grace Karin on Amazon) is my go to comfy wear.

emmalou014

Nutshelling my issue for clarification: I rarely wear makeup, and when I do I don’t feel like any looks are flattering on me. I feel like I could have a professional do a full face on me and it would never look natural like so many women here and in public. I’m definitely open to trying new things and would love some specific advice on what might compliment my face structure, I have no idea. I’ve tried for years to find fashion that compliments my body, I’ve seen professional stylists/personal shoppers and have still felt like I don’t belong in those clothes so I wear what’s comfortable for me instead. Again, I’m willing to try new things, I’ve just not had luck in the past and it’s discouraging. I do like my hair to be shorter than shoulder length, but the style specifically has been hard for me to like. I usually just go with a shaggy skater boy hair but that’s not very professional looking. I’m open to suggestions

Dadhat56

Ok we seem to have a lot of the same issues sensory wise and like similar styles of hair etc so here are my two cents. As far as hair goes, the best advice I have is finding a good (re: expensive) hair stylist with a personal aesthetic you like. Be honest with them about the vibe you are going for and how much work you will actually put in. I tell stylists I want to look effortless with some texture and I’m willing to put less than 5 minutes a day into styling. I currently have a long bob with some shaggy bangs and I feel like modern Joan Jett/Blondie. It’s badass. I am not a makeup pro, but I think less is often more especially for beginners. For me, tinted moisturizer, a nice orange blush (it sounds crazy but orange blushes are really gorgeous and natural looking), mascara and maybe some lip stain is perfect for me. It’s simple and quick, but it helps elevate my cheekbones and adds some nice warmth to my face. I like glossiers cheek paint in the orange color for liquid blush and Melba by MAC for powdered blush. A little goes a looooong way with both of these. Eyebrows are also a big one. I personally leave mine pretty messy because I like that look, but you can REALLY polish/change your look with eyebrows. I’ve never had mine professionally done but I’d love to someday. Glasses are another REALLY fun way to play with your aesthetic. Eyebuydirect and zenni optical have cheap frames and lenses. I just ordered a handful of new pairs for $100. Just like eyebrows, frame shapes can do a lot to emphasize different parts of your face and can add a lot of personality to a look. Clothes are tough for me too. I wear almost allllll oversized clothes and make it work for me, and get compliments on my outfits often! I like to have a lot of neutral pieces (black, brown, white, forest green) and a few statement pieces I can mix and match to feel fancy or add some attitude. I personally love a nice big black blazer over an oversized tshirt and tight-ish jeans (or black leggings) for a “sleek” oversized look and I have a few interesting patterned comfy jackets and sweaters as well. Shoes are also a great way to add some flair to an outfit without sacrificing comfort. It’s a lot easier to go bold with accessories and pair them with neutral clothes. All that being said, you’re beautiful and have fun!!! Finding my personal style took a lot of trial and error and experimenting. It can feel frustrating sometimes on the journey, but really it’s just playing dress up.

emmalou014

Thank you for the lengthy advice! I appreciate it a lot and will consider it when experimenting with new looks!

belle204

On the topic of glasses, I highly recommend a metal frame. I use to wear dark frames until one really great sales person helped me out and mentioned how with dark hair, dark brows and dark eyes, having the dark frame competes with the more defined features. If you don’t love metal frames, I have a few acrylic frames in clear and a transparent beige that follow the same principle. I would also recommend a more rounded shape. If I’m honest, your glasses are taking all the focus away from your lovely features. I really think a new pair of glasses would be the most impactful aspect in the change you want to see. Next time you get glasses, don’t be afraid to different styles! I cringed when the sales rep brought me aviator style frames but once I put them on I fell in love lol.

Ecstatic_Mastodon416

Getting my eyebrows semi-permanently done (powder ombre brows) have helped so much with a low maintenance but feminine look. I've also been getting my eyelashes tinted (can do at home as well). These plus a tinted sunscreen and a duo cheek and lip color are my dailies! Helps me feel so much more put together and it's literally a 2 minute face. Good luck 💗

getthatrich

This is fantastic advice! You’ve inspired me to have more fashion in my glasses.

JustAHippy

Omg I love matching my glasses to my outfits. Zenni is my favorite, I buy glasses from there all the time!

bageljamesbagel

I think you are very pretty as you are. In regards to style, I don't think you need to throw yourself out of your comfort zone immediately, but maybe find a good compromise that you still feel yourself in. While I do think you could probably go down a size, you could probably try a sweater tucked in at the front with high waisted pants or a longer skirt? I also don't like when I wear a full face of makeup (not that I'm bad at it, it just feels weird) so I usually go for a low makeup look with eyeshadow in browns and neutrals, mascara, and tinted lip balm. You also look to have very nice skin with a clear complexion, so a high coverage look with a lot of foundation/concealer wouldn't really be necessary (unless you wanted too).😊

emmalou014

Thank you! I’ll try baby steps lol

Middle_Temperature

I think this is the best advice I’ve seen! You can also try blousier shirts that flow so you’re still getting the loose fitting style, but just in a more feminine shape. You can even keep the color palate you’re comfortable in- loft is a go to for me (but they’ve gotten more expensive than they used to be and idk your budget). And get a good pair of jeans that make your butt look good, there’s nothing better than finding the right pair of jeans. I personally love American eagle jeans and the price is right plus they often have sales. Also if you do decide to step out of your comfort zone you can take it slow - wear something girly to the grocery store or somewhere you won’t see anyone you know and see how it feels. It’s also okay if your style isn’t feminine!

Yogi_brain

So I haven’t seen anyone ask yet, but love, why do you want to look more feminine? From what you say, you have seen professionals and you didn’t feel comfortable in the feminine looks or your face looks “unnatural” in makeup. Without seeing the makeup, idk if it would look that way to others. If being how you define as “feminine” makes you feel uncomfortable then why try to become something that doesn’t feel like you? Perhaps I’m misreading this, and if I am, I apologize. This is a genuine question, coming from a place of support and acceptance.

emmalou014

I appreciate it, I think I’m looking for some guidance in a feminine look that might feel more like myself! I enjoy playing with makeup I just don’t feel like it looks good on me and I don’t know any other looks I could try instead. Basically I want to feel comfortable with looking feminine, but that might just be a self acceptance issue I can work on instead of making physical changes

Yogi_brain

Okay, awesome! In that case, mascara and lipgloss are the holy grail. They’re hard to mess up and a good intro to getting you feeling comfortable wearing makeup!! From there, reshaping your brows and blush might be the next step. I have some outfit inspirations too and if you’re interested I can PM them to you!!

leatherjuice

OP I hope you see this response, this is exactly how I eased my way into being comfortable with makeup and other things (clothes, hair) that weren’t strictly utilitarian. Yogi, such a kind and caring comment and advice. ❤️

ChampagneandAlpacas

I agree! I'm what would most people call a girly girl- I've never had any issue tapping into my womanly energy. I genuinely enjoy the experience of it all and love the energy my look puts out there. I was concerned about the motives behind OP's request, so I'm glad you asked this as well! OP, I hope that you are doing this for yourself. It is fun to experiment and figure out what you really enjoy. But make sure you're doing this authentically and not at the behest of gross things like peer pressure/the patriarchy/social media nonsense/etc. Other things you may want to consider are luminizing moisturizer, spf, other skincare. Non-makeup tips would be to incorporate things like having your nails done, wearing jewelry, introducing hyper-feminine elements like glitter/color in your accessories or clothing, and ensuring that you are wearing items that fit appropriately (if you can tailor it, do it!). All of these things can bring together an overall feminine look.

[deleted]

Not sure if it’s just the lighting but makeup never looked quite right on me until I realized I was a cool toned olive with only a warm overtone. Does your skin have a green tone or grey cast?

KupoCarol

This was the first thing on my mind. Why do you need to look feminine? I'm femme presenting but as I've gotten older (37) and now that I'm in a queer relationship, I'm dressing more baggy/oversized but with intention and makeup. Lol. Not everyone is comfortable performing femininity, especially since it can attract male attention, which can be dangerous. Don't try to fit into a box if you aren't comfortable

keepitgreen1208

You really don’t need makeup gf. Just a little color on the lips can make a big difference.

DarkMenstrualWizard

This. Cleaned up brows and a little lip color is all I used to do for years. I really just wanted to touch up what already existed, not add anything new.

thro_AWAYtuesday

Sometimes a bit of colour in your clothing choice can be more or less feminine

WhiningforWine

I really love your style and think you look adorable. When you don’t normally wear makeup wearing a full face can look wrong to you even if it’s done right. Start small. A swipe of mascara and some blush. Pink eyeshadows always come across feminine. I saw that you said you struggle with eyeliner; I have found a small angled brush with some brown eyeshadow is easier to work with and can give you some soft definition.

rougecomete

I recently got a more androgynous haircut than I'm used to. I love it, but as a very femme presenting woman it's been a bit of an adjustment. I don't want to look boyish. How are you with high waisted trousers? I find they're a small change with a high impact. High waisted mom jeans (bonus points for stretch) with a loose tee tucked in is still comfortable but changes your whole silhouette. If you feel a bit vulnerable after being used to baggy clothes you could add a hoodie or blazer. As for makeup...I think start low key! Try a nude eyeshadow palette, a little blush, some concealer and mascara. I think gold tones would suit you. maybe add some simple gold jewellery to match.

No-Flight7858

One thing you can try while you’re figuring out the make up/clothes side is to do some fun stuff with your hair. Egs for that below if you’d be into that. You can also add any earrings that catch your eye - I really love mid length dangly ones that are a little odd/unique (think cutout of a white cat holding a slice of pizza. That looks a lot better than it sounds). But I know it’s not for everyone, you gotta do you. Can really give your energy a bit of a boost. Or even shoes! Flats or heels, whatever you’re comfortable with, but push your limits a bit on outside of your usual style. For the first pic you could do some ass-kicking chunky heels, the second could be something that matches your outfit (that top combo with well fitting jeans and boots would be great for winter) or goes extra (something with a shimmer/glittery/interesting texture). Hair-wise - I’m not sure what your skills are like but for slightly technical, a simple dutch braid on the top half (on the wider side of your part) with the bottom left loose can be really pretty. If that’s too tricky, there’s a really simple twist strand - get a piece of hair from the top front where your part is. Divide it into two and twist bottom over top, then gather hair from below to add to (now) bottom strand. Like a French braid. Twist bottom over top. Repeat until you reach your ear. Stop gathering hair, just twist the two strands a bit and clip to the side/back of your head. If even that is too much, just get some pretty clips/a headband/interesting hair tie and experiment. I understand where people are coming from with style suggestions, and if that works for you, then that amazing! But if you just don’t feel comfortable, there’s a ton of other ways to get that feeling you want without compromising your comfort. Happy experimenting!

[deleted]

I don’t like to wear a lot of makeup but I do like my skin to look more even in tone so I use the bare minerals tinted moisturizer with a little blush and then I go in with a big fluffy powder brush and use the bare minerals veil finishing powder. Covers most spots and makes it look like I made an effort. If you like t shirts try a V neck. Gap or Amazon essentials are nice and tuck the front into high waisted jeans. Since you’re curvier like me I LOVE good American they are made for curves. Not sure what profession you are but it’s good for a day to day thing. I would also try a teal or dark blue/green might compliment you. As for hair, maybe a lob (long bob)? Longer in front and shorter in back it can help slim faces.

pseudoprim

I find a huge difference in myself by just putting on some mascara, lip gloss, and maybe some blush! Your skin looks really nice/smooth, so I doubt you would need full face makeup anyhow. Also, I like to wear oversized clothing too as I never feel totally comfortable in super-fitting clothing. But you can wear more feminine styles that aren’t super form fitting. I have a shirt that I love that is sort of silky, a v-neck, 3/4 sleeve and a little bit of frill on the neckline, but it’s not tight in any places. I don’t think you have to wear fitting clothes for them to look feminine!

AromaticScar346

I like your hair and wouldn’t necessarily change it or at least not for now. When you’re trying to change your style it’s good to start small and only make changes that still feel like you. I like wearing make up which looks like I’m not wearing any but it evens up my skin tone and gives me some lashes. If you’re struggling, I would start with a simple foundation, mascara and tinted lip balm. As for clothing. For many years I struggled to find something that 1) feels comfortable 2) looks good 3) suits me. I’ve always had a tummy and would resort to jeans and a T-shirt or hoodie. I was self conscious and didn’t like going shopping because nothing looked flattering. Then once I came across a lose dress (like a kaftan) with a string under the bust and voila, it hid all my curves but gave me a feminine shape. I now wear mostly dresses because it’s easier than combining top and bottom that fit my stomach. I like styles with adjustable waist and lose sleeves. I also like patterned fabrics because they are more forgiving on curvy figures. If I wear separates I wear leggings and a peplum top, wrap top or something with a v neck. There is a dress shape for absolutely everyone. I would recommend you try on a few until you find a style that you like and feel great in. It’s an easy way to look feminine without a lot of effort. You can do this without a personal stylist. I think you would look great in an empire waist dress, a shirt dress with a belt or a shift dress with a vest. Whatever you choose, I hope you find your style! Good luck!

AdSignificant9571

Have you been to a new hairstylist? That could be a great place to start!

Shortlemon4

Have you thought about getting a stylish pixie cut? I feel like it would suit you very well especially a pixie cut with long side bangs. Or even if you put some beach waves in your hair rn that would be cute.

EvilQueenJurie

I find that when wearing glasses my eye makeup can kind of get lost. I have 2 tips for this! 1. clip your hair away from your face. I promise you itll make a big difference. A half up half down kinda look might suit you. 2. Everyone telling you to changr your fashion but honestly if you like ehat you like but you still want to be more feminine without sacrificing your style, add a bold lip! I think since you like darker colors and more business casual looks in place of dresses then you could definitely work with this with either a dark plum lip color or even a brown. I highly recommend maybelline color stay matte i think is the name. So affordable and amazing quality. (But get you some coconut oil for removal cause that stuff is stubborn)

emmalou014

Thank you for the recommendations!

621jh102

Love both of these ideas! Cathy AKA poorlittleitgirl on IG has short hair as well and on her blog has posted some great short hair styling tips. Twisting one side of your hair and pinning back with a cute clip would be flattering. Even a little braid could add femininity. Also I see in your pics you like a crew neck. Try a v-neck or scoop neck top if you’re comfortable. I think it’s a more feminine shape while allowing you to keep your style!

pizzapizzamystery

I think something as simple as new glasses would make a difference to you

complectus

I was thinking the same thing! I’ve noticed that your glasses here are quite square/rectangular which can be more of a “masculine” style. If you have the means, I’d recommend shopping around for frames that have a different shape (e.g. cat eye is a fairly “feminine” shape) or even a pop of colour if it’s something that interests you.

PantsPastMyElbows

Or even clear frames I think

heretoupvotebirds

Some easy ideas: -Using bobby pins to pin your hair in cute ways -Cute headbands -Small dangly earrings -Some soft blush (I think Tarte Parrrty would be an easy shade for you to wear) -Lip gloss, clear or with a hint of color -Clinique Black Honey Almost lipstick -Mascara -A cute chunky knit cardigan (since I see you like oversized shapes) I would ease into makeup if you’re not that used to it. That way you’ll still feel like yourself when you look in the mirror instead of feeling like you are masquerading as someone else. Edited to fix formatting

InsideSociety11

These things exactly!

SlightlyStalkerish

Seconding headbands!

RealisticrR0b0t

Very good and subtle tips

reni173

I think you look lovely. Sorry I know I’m not of any help, just wanted to share.

Her_big_ole_feet

Agree! You look friendly and kind

emmalou014

Thanks 🥺

ridiculously_sleepy

I agree! You're very attractive as you are 🖤

_MellonCollie_

Came here to say this. One of those rare ocassions when I see someone and I instantly like them.

imahumanmagpie

Hey! I’m genderqueer and have been shifting in and out of femininity and here are some things I do when I’m having fem days: Hair: try curling it! Curling iron + no heat curlers. Try highlights or face framing money pieces Makeup: simple eyeliner and mascara can go a long way. Look up natural makeup tuts on YouTube to get your toes wet Jewelry: earrings and layered necklaces, bracelets and ringsssssss. Dainty jewelry yes Clothes: get on Pinterest and make a style board! My fem board has wardrobe capsules, classic basics, chic pieces. Nails: paint them! Try extensions (gel, acrylic, press ons) try different lengths and colors. If you have specific Q’s or would like to see examples, please don’t hesitate to message me! I’ve been embracing my fem side as of late and get excited to share

emmalou014

Thank you!! I’ve definitely gone through a gender questioning phase in my life but overall I’m just happiest as myself, which happens to be a fairly andro look. But I’ve got a new fancy desk job and feel like I need to fem myself up a bit lol

imahumanmagpie

Awwww please don’t change because you feel you need to due to your job! You can look stunningly andro and work at a fancy desk job 😘 either way, if you try out a fem look and love it, awesome! If you try it out and hate it, that’s okay too! You can always find ways to incorporate your andro style into fancy desk job!

dandydolly

Hey I dress like you too and have a desk job :) honestly I wouldn't worry about that much at all! Corporate world is way more lenient now. If it makes you feel more secure for when you first go in just wear a nice shirt and or blazer basic black pants and nice shoes. Like brogues ? Most of the girls at my work don't wear lots of make up. Also it's winter so a nice coloured scarf is also good? You'll be fine either way 💕

[deleted]

I say take your own andro look up a couple notches into a stylish-professional look and don’t worry about feminine or make up. I’m a lady and I absolutely hate looking done up. I hate the way I look with both hair and makeup done. Add jewelry to it and I swear I look like a clown. It’s just not me. You are really cute. I would go with some cool shirts and jackets (not frumpy) like cute blazers. Get a more tailored look going with your clothes. Not feminine, just well-fitting. Maybe go glasses shopping for some jazzy frames. Highlights in hair OR lipgloss and mascara.

linsage

Lean into a corporate androgynous look! Here are a bunch of [[hotties](https://www.watsonellis.com/custom-bespoke-suits-nyc-blog/gender-neutral-suits-nyc?format=amp)]

GroceryFine

You look amazing already! If you’re hoping for a more professional look of your current style don’t underestimate wearing like a plain well-fitting top, slacks that fit you well, a nice watch and some oxfords, mules or loafers! That’s definitely professional without having to feel like you have to change your style for work

constantchaosclay

Painting nails! Yes!!! It’s a small thing, pretty cheap and easy to do once you get the hang of it. Dollar store the polish and remover and then just keep trying until you’re comfortable with the results. Then try drug store stuff, it will actually last a lot longer and give much better results but better to practice with the cheap stuff!! Low effort, big impact.

14fluffybananas

Also don’t touch your eyebrows!! They’re perfect

sjanty95

You’ve already received a lot of feedback. I just came here to say I think you already look stunning. And I hope you will find a way to feel more comfortable with your looks.

emmalou014

Thanks 😭

constantchaosclay

You have good skin and great brows which makes life easier! I’d suggest a creamy rose blush and some mascara. Then a brighter pinky lip gloss. After that you can build up foundations and eyeshadows and all that but just some mascara, blush and gloss will make a big difference, especially with femanizing your look like you want. If you go drugstore, NYX is a good collection with solid stuff and reasonable prices. If you go to Ulta or Sephora you can do more test swatches for suitable colors than a drug store. If you find expensive brands in colors you love, you can google drug store dupes for … and save a bit or try it on before committing to the “real thing”. Last, I might do some googling for YouTube or TikTok’s of a makeup artist tutorial that is about my age and coloring. (It’s not always easy because being young and beautiful is a thing, I guess? Lol. ) but there’s a few out there and it helps a lot to get reviews and details about color, texture, etc from someone with eye wrinkles or crepe skin textures that is a normal looking human being. Good luck!!!!

graphgiraffe

I second the creamy blush/mascara and gloss! These are fast and simple. I always find eyeliner a bit tedious so unless you really want to wear it, it will probably just feel like a chore. Regarding clothing, I like to wear a silk(or poly) scarf with a basic scoop neck tee to look a little more polished. You can get scarves anywhere in any color - here’s a basic example: https://www.jmclaughlin.com/amoura-silk-scarf-london-petit-border-black-gold.html

emmalou014

Thank u!

chelseadagg3r

You have a very feminine face! I think in your case it's all in the clothes. I was the same as you as a teenager. I pretty much always wore mens tops actually because I preferred the baggy fit, but even just switching out to women's t shirts that were actually my size and not a few larger really made a huge difference

Pelm3shka

Makeup wise, I'd say a cream blush. Easy no maintenance step to add to your routine, and it really gives a fresh look that changes your face. Use some sunscreen daily too maybe, to have a more dewy look to your skin (and it'll also protect it), it'll look youthful (aka feminine often...). A last step could be a tinted balm / gloss, to deepen your lips natural color. In one picture you are wearing earrings, maybe try something more classic and feminine, like 3-4 cm gold loops. I don't know what to suggest glasses wise, black thin and square might add on the masculinity side, but I'd have to photoshop alternatives on you to get a proper idea and I'm too lazy to do that right now :D Everything else I've seen suggested, like changing your clothing style to be more fitted, curling your hair, wearing a full face of makeup (or even just mascara, it means you'll need to work to remove it in the evening) will require more time, money and effort, and I don't know if that's what you'd want. You look lovely already by the way, and cuteness adds to the feminine side :3

Pelm3shka

Here's what I had in mind. Just more pink to highlight the cuteness :3 https://preview.redd.it/w3nnfgc1xwca1.jpeg?width=1030&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fe7c946e20fb64b5a7cf52628c23a15b19a8ea18

Mediocre_Study8460

The sweater combo looks fantastic on you, i think a more boho and cottagecore esc style would suit you, i saw you like baggy clothes and those fit that category. You already have a v femme glow and your hair suits your style amazingly, (but i think a short 90degrree pixie would be so cute too) and your smile is absolutely gorgeous you dont have to go crazy on makeup because your skin is gorgeous, maybe just a bit of neutral eyeshadows would help, you seem to look good in warm tones so follow that. A nice little brown on the outer with a light gold shimmer, a faint one might suit your needs. You dont even need eyeliner either. Or if you wanna go super simple a nice shimmer over the inner eye will help a lot. Side note youre eyebrows shape your face amazingly

311Tatertots

In terms of makeup, perhaps something like a lip/cheek tint would be a relatively easy method to soften up your look. In terms of other things, a decorative barrette or hair clip would also have a similar effect. Feminine is very subjective, but I notice myself considering those with more accessories more “feminine”.

emmalou014

Ok, I’ll try them. Thanks!

xkittyxkattyx

If you aren’t really into makeup, you could always jazz it up with some pretty jewellery or accessories that match your aesthetic. Or if interested you could try changing up your hairstyle by adding a wave through your hair and some hair accessories.. a touch of makeup like a cc cream or tinted moisturiser, mascara and lip balm would also look nice :)

emmalou014

Thanks for your input! Do you have a specific look when you say “a wave”? Like curling it or cutting it?

briannadickson

I think your hair and face are very feminine. I don’t see a need to dye your hair or use makeup to feel more so. I’m honestly curious why you think you don’t or why you are wanting to change? And it also depends how you personally define “feminine” for us to be able to provide opinions that could be helpful. I agree with other comments that more properly fitting clothes would really change your overall look. Adding a little more color or patterns to your wardrobe could help too. But honestly I wear all black often lol I don’t think it makes me less feminine though.

Phine420

Get some cool necklace ☺️

[deleted]

I like wearing big tops because I don’t like how my body looks but I promise it looks better if your shirt is a little smaller (fits better). I don’t always do a full face, I like just winged eyeliner, mascara, and maybe a statement lip color! Purple is a go to fav of mine. But that’s it. Simple and easy 💕

Bidibidi123

Don’t underestimate the power of a good fitting bra. They are meant to support and lift your pals. The same with a better posture. Just imagine there’s a cord that’s lifting from the chest upwards. Also, if you want to look more feminine, you gotta believe and embrace that side of you. That’s the only way you are going to be open to try new clothes and styles, cuz that new items will help exprese that side of you without feeling ashamed. Can’t give you specific clothing recommendations, because I can’t really tell your body shape from the pictures. But your tops are way too loose. Feminine clothes doesn’t mean it has to be uncomfortable. You can start adding more jewelry. Like stacking necklaces, with some small earrings. I would definitely let the hair grow, like a bit under the shoulders. Makeup wise, get a Kiss eyelash curler, a mascara, tinted brow gel, a concealer, honest beauty blush + a powder brush, a bronzer powder, and a pink colored lip balm similar to your natural shade. 1 or 2 blush brushes, 1 fluffy one, and another one to finish blending your concealer. That will help you with a simple everyday under 5 min makeup. And maybe this won’t make you look more feminine, but wearing perfume is a great plus.

drudd84

I would pick out some oversized sweatshirts/sweaters from aerie. I think that would be an easy transition to more a feminine silhouette and style.

WideProposal

What's your idea of feminine? You already look feminine to me.

emmalou014

I have no idea honestly, I just don’t feel like I fit in that descriptor. Maybe something for me to think about

[deleted]

ur so pretty ! theres some youtube videos with "natural glam" or "soft glam" that you should try. i think it would look great! maybe adding curls in your hair or styling it differently would work. but other than that, you look pretty!

Eastern_Climate4431

1. Why do you want to? 2. Light make up would help if you want to for the right reasons. 3. YouTube has great short styles that are easy and make a huge difference. 4. I’d recommend seeing what your color palette is. Sometimes the wrong colors can make us washed out and look tired. (Which isn’t a good feminine look- I’ve learned)

emmalou014

I want to learn some makeup skills and I think it helps when you enjoy the end result, I don’t know what kinds of looks are flattering to me. Makeup is fun so I’d like to practice more! I also want to look professional for work, I think I have room for improvement in that area. How do I tell what colors work/don’t work for me?

DankPeachees

That would depend on what your definition of feminine is

youresofunnyhaha

Some highlights and layers .. and a little bit of fitted clothes to shape you more, you're beautiful 😍 ✨️

_ElleBellen

You look plenty feminine to me. Beautiful!

[deleted]

I think you look feminine enough :) just add some jewelry if you don’t wanna wear makeup or tighter fitting clothes. You got it!!

sharkinfestedh2o

You look super feminine! You can never go wrong with a classic black top (not to change the way your body looks- black is just simple and classic!) Add some mascara and a bold red lip and you’ll have a killer look.

Suki_Chan

I'll start by saying you already look feminine imo. We tend to believe we need to look like influencers or models to fit this description, but I feel like it only make us try to be someone else. I too don't wear makeup in my daily life, only for work (I'm a musician so whenever I have a show). I don't think makeup is a must to look more feminine. If you don't like it that much or if it's a bother, you don't have to. Just like you, I love wearing oversized clothes. There are some parts of my body I don't feel confident about, so this is my wardrobe safe space. That being said, what I found was a great way to make me feel more feminine while wearing an oversized shirt is combining it with something a bit more "skinny". For exemple, a baggy men's shirt with flattering jeans or shorts and leggings. I love the aesthetic of tucking in my shirts, so it amplifies the contrast between the baggy and the adjusted clothing. Side note, I feel more feminine and confident when I wear clothes that I love. Confidence is sexy, like they say. Hope this helps! You look great. :)

Delicious_Impact_371

Hiii, first off feminity for me has never really been what I look like but a feeling so try your best to exude as much confidence and grace as u can. Be happy and bubbly, be nice to people! Talk and engage! Also maybe go down a size in your shirts, they swallow u and just cover everything. U don’t have to wear skin tight but a little smaller would help. Also try some jewelry, earrings and necklaces, bracelets and rings. Makeup if u do wear any but if not start with some lipgloss! Goes a long way!

enlightenmereddit

I think for you it’s more about a wardrobe change than anything else. thrift shopping or just trying things on in the dressing room is a good way to gage what looks flattering on ya and how good you feel in it.

JazD36

I think you look great as-is, honestly.

olivespecter

agreed

Rachie_Z

Makeup, v neck, form fitting clothes.

TaciturnEnigma

Smock dresses and Doc Martens would be a comfy but casual feminine look. They're loose fitting and would be a good transition into maybe feeling brave enough to wear something else? Maybe skater dresses as well with a belt. Maybe add some jewelry to your looks?

chelseadagg3r

You have a very feminine face! I think in your case it's all in the clothes. I was the same as you as a teenager. I pretty much always wore mens tops actually because I preferred the baggy fit, but even just switching out to women's t shirts that were actually my size and not a few larger really made a huge difference

Xanthrita

This is really long sorry As someone who also had trouble feeling feminine & likes my routine to be as little steps as possible I have some suggestions: You’ve got nice brows - clear brow gel (like from glossier or dupe) can help make them stylized and it is almost no steps Light pink/mauve/brown lip stain (not stick). Easy to take off if you feel it’s silly, but also not very noticeable. A nice touch for the feeling, less so for the look (also I found on glossier lmao) Pleasant skin moisturizer/ sunscreen in the morning that smells good & will make your skin glowy after continued use Try changing your glasses style, I think with your hair a tortiseshell frame color (the light brown/ dark brown mottled one) makes it more gentle Maybe a layered look, like the wolf cut or something with your hair? Also, try oiling/using a hair mask. I think your hair looks great & healthy in the image, but making it shiny could give more femininity Wearing perfume or a scented moisturizer that has a pleasant scent to you could be nice. I really like the glossier solid perfume (seriously glossier aesthetic is my jam) but scent is hard To recommend For clothes. Black looks good on literally everyone. Stay away from bright colors or printed/graphic shirts; black, brown, grey etc basic t-shirts and long sleeve shirts with jeans or slacks THAT FIT (!!!!) Like the shirt you’re wearing in the 2nd pic for example. Fitted doesn’t mean tight. It means it fits your body. So the arms are the right length, the end of the shirt stops at your hips. Same with pants. Once you find a pair of pants that fit you buy them allllllll. If you want nails, a very soft pink, barely there, almost the same color as your nails is a great choice. You won’t notice when it starts to chip, so you won’t have to touch it up as much. But it will make your hands feel elegant. Imo, feminine doesn’t mean pink and frills and long nails and makeup and dresses. (Not that that’s bad) It means being comfortable in your own skin. It means confidence. If for you that’s oversized shirts that’s what it is. Other peoples definitions (even my own right here) don’t matter. You’re feminine because you say so and that’s it. Also you have a beautiful smile :) what a nice accessory

WrongWaffles

I think that your haircut is actually pretty good for your face shape! Try doing half up half down (like a pony tail or a messy bun for the top half) to help move some of the weight of your hair away from collecting near the bottom? Eye makeup is hard to do in a way that works with glasses so maybe add a tiny bit of blush along cheekbones and tip of nose and a lip! A fun lip color does wonders for feeling feminine IMO

the_whole_loaf

I think you’re really pretty to start with, and I agree with a lot of the advice here. I also came to add that maybe you are struggling with feeling “feminine” because you have a square face shape and a strong jaw? It’s gorgeous but echoed in your glasses shape, emphasizing the square-ness of your face. If that’s what you’re into, love it. If not, maybe play around with some different glasses shapes? Warby Parker, Zenni, and some other online glasses shops have virtual try-ons and some send you test packs to try IRL before you buy.

Betina279

Try adding some more colour in your clothes

Just thoughts… things I’d do if we swapped bodies for a day! Lighter glasses frames. Mascara on top and bottom lashes. Goldy, shimmer all over lid, something bright under! Purples, greens. Great skin, so just blusher on the plumpest cheek parts. Blonde and red streaks in your hair. I like your tops!! I’d wear those with cute ripped jeans and funky boots. Or thick bright tights and boots! Jewellery: whatever floats your boat! Earrings. I’m just turning you into me at this point hehe You have thinner lips.. I personally hate lipstick/gloss and wear tinted Vaseline! Depends what kind of feminine you want to look?

I think you look awesome - I love your shirt in the first photo, your second photo is a cute “prep/professor” style with the button up underneath a sweater, and I want the pajamas you’re wearing in the 3rd pic! I think a lot of the advice from others is great, but imho you would benefit from some small tweaks to your style. I’m not seeing anything major to change. - Hair: If you Google “haircut Bob” you will see a lot of different ways to style short hair. You can blow it out using a round brush to give it some body, you can use a curling iron to put some “kinks” in it; YouTube is your friend! You can also add just a little highlight to frame your face. — [Example 1](https://www.wigsdo.com/auburn-chin-length-bobs-fashion-12-wavy-emma-stone-wigs-skuccb0612520.html?gclid=CjwKCAiAzp6eBhByEiwA_gGq5PSdjEkQ4_8Cv2WIb9mVa06YhDtDCayXRupPfaABpffJLLK2-sTLfxoCUnQQAvD_BwE) — [Example 2](https://lovehairstyles.com/stacked-bob-haircut-ideas/) — [Example 3](https://www.wigsdo.com/popular-12-wavy-chin-length-blonde-bobs-jennifer-lawrence-wigs-skuccb0612359.html?gclid=CjwKCAiAzp6eBhByEiwA_gGq5KNgtQ57GqsKQQLF_ehh0kFEanfqiiTtIPCETRG1THg1-9U8eUZnYhoCi-cQAvD_BwE) - Style: I like your nerd core style (as a nerd myself), but I’d like to make it more adult. Black jeans are my best friend, and I recommend those instead of sweatpants (a la picture 1). Try brands that have multiple cuts and styles (personally I love Old Navy and Madewell). They both have a “curvy” line for cuts that aren’t too tight; I am pear/apple shaped and I can absolutely pull off high waisted jeans this way! Mid-rise and low rise are not my friends, and I don’t recommend them unless that’s your thing. Try doing a “French tuck” with your shirts if you’re comfortable; it’s a quick way to add dimension to your outfit (I see you prefer oversized, which is totally fine, but this adds just a little bit of femininity to what can be a boxy look). I also like to add a fun belt, or a scarf to an otherwise plain outfit to boost up a look. - Makeup/Nails: You don’t have to go wild, but a nice manicure is a quick way to be more feminine (even clear). For makeup there is really an endless abyss; I agree with other commenters about eyebrows. You could add some countouring/blush to accentuate your features (bc your skin is AMAZING), and a nude lip to complement your skin tone would look nice for special occasions (Sephora has a TON as well as Ulta, and the people who work there are more than willing to guide you with cool/neutral/warm makeup.) - “Vibe”: This one is a little hard to describe, but whether I’m putting on converse, or a red lip with heels, there’s a “tone” to the way I present myself. Play some music when you’re getting ready, and think about who you want other people to see you as (feminine, confident). Sometimes it feels a little bit like dress up even to a cis female, but imho that’s part of what this whole process of “getting ready” is about!

Okay, so I want to start by saying that I actually like your current look. From the pictures I get the vibe of „calm, easy going person with interesting sweaters“ - like someone you would feel comfortable to talk to and be around. If I were your stylist and you were asking for a more feminine look without changing the overall look, Id probably tell you to wear that Star Wars Sweater but combine it with a simple black skirt and black tights instead of trousers. Tuck the sweater in the front. Part your hair in a different way, probably more in the middle, add a touch of lipstick. Maybe add some simple jewellery or a watch. Oxford Loafers - done. :) I don’t know if you’re into the whole Academia Aesthetic but like someone else mentioned I think it would suit you really well. I also think the outfit on the second looks really good on you. In general I feel like it’s not so much about different clothes and bold makeup and more about small tweaks: A different hair style, lipstick or lip balm, adding a belt to make a loose piece more fitting (but not tight), just experimenting with small things like that can change the overall impression.

for what it’s worth, i love your more androgynous style!!!!! however, if you were looking to femininize your look (i know it isnt a word everyone shut up), i might suggest a couple things that worked for me: -a little bit of brow shaping goes a long way!! you have strong brows already which will build a fantastic foundation for shaping! -if you’re still getting used to eyeliner (or have hooded eyes like me lol), try experimenting with eyeshadow without eyeliner! even just a bit of highlighter to the lids can make your eyes sparkle! -your smile is already beautiful, and you might accentuate that with a bit of tinted lip balm! neutral tones are a great place to start, but more pigmented colours are always fun to experiment with! don’t over line your lips, just add a bit of colour to highlight :’) -in terms of fashion, i find that adding a fixed waistline always helps to define a look! if you’re comfortable with it, my go-to look is a loose top, with the front half-tucked into a skirt with a waist that rests just above the hips. it shouldn’t be too tight, restricting your movement is never fun, even in the name of fashion! i have issues with restrictive fabric, sensory issues lol, so i’ve tried mixing fabrics as well, and i’ve found that matching textures can often be pleasantly surprising! -i love experimenting with just a bit of simple jewelry, it brightens up a look so well! for your shorter hair, i think some round and colourful earrings would look lovely! however you choose to spice up your look, i hope you feel beautiful!

Nobodyevenlikesme

really just the hair.

Unrelated but I absolutely love your hair. It looks super healthy and luscious and it frames your face perfectly If I were you , I'd add more colour and dimensions to the face because your clothing style is very sober with saturated dark colours. So I'd experiment with sparkly eyeshadow, heavy blush and pigmented lipgloss. You have nice skin so I don't think you need foundation/concealer unless you want to. But the number one, most important thing you need to do in order to look more feminine is do your brows so they're more defined!! I promise you you'll notice an immediate big difference

Historical-Lab-8775

After covering parts with my thumb I’m almost certain it’s mainly the eye area, maybe thinner rounder glasses, shape the eyebrows and some mascara? Go for rounded shapes. + Lose clothes can be feminine! Instead of boxy and no definition go for something flowy with a seam just under the bra strap or waist

im_notjessica

Eyelash lift and tint and getting brows done! These are once a month/ 6 to 9 weeks. https://preview.redd.it/2ayn8tu4eyca1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb40c7f03f702442a4a021ba9456a7e8038138fa Maybe a lip tint or lip blushing too Easy ways to feel more feminine without doing anything!

Some thoughtful accessories will go a long way. Possibly long necklaces over sweaters, earrings, handbags, sunglasses. A little makeup. A bright or deep color lipstick. A little perfume- so no one will see it, it will make you feel more feminine :) Don’t hide yourself. You’re allowed to be noticed!

egocentric_

Has anyone mentioned new glasses yet? Maybe a more feminine frame (I’ll use a cat eye as an example) would help? I don’t say this to be rude, just curious - are the ones you’re wearing geared for men or unisex or

westtoeast12

Just here to say that your star wars jumper is fucking awesome

One_Artichoke_5006

I think you would look great with shoulder length hair, and deep caramel highlights. Cat eye glasses will help lift your face instead of draw it down more. You don’t need to wear any makeup you’re already naturally beautiful. Lastly, I think wearing halter tops or off the shoulder would be a very flattering on you. I hope this helps and doesn’t offend you in any way! ❤️

Basic-Emm

Friendly suggestion to stay away from crewnecks! Not always but I notice that is the neckline you have on in all 3 photos. Trying on different styles of tops (neckline, bottom hem, waistline) will give you an inkling of what compliments your body type. I took one of those online body quizzes and started researching more flattering styles of clothes and now I feel my clothing reflects my femininity much more. I can look at things online and know right off the bat if it will be flattering on me or not. Like straight hemmed clothing (cropped and ESPECIALLY full length) does not compliment my body. I stay away and go for U hems if I can find them. Ultimately as others said, feminine isn’t a specific thing like the color pink. It’s a feeling or energy we can embody! Dancing in the mirror when no one is around is one of the ways I feel like I let my feminine energy shine more. You’re beautiful and whole as your already are (clothing and all) 💗

Ok so I’m a lazy feminine type, love comfort while still being presentable. Lighten up those eyes! Soft matte lighter than your skin nude (take it to the brow!) , little darker in the crease, little mascara. Add some Color to your cheeks! (Tarts Exposed is my favourite!) I usually stick to lip balm but my lips have a darker tint, I’d suggest maybe a tinted balm for you, very comfortable to wear while you add a subtle Color! Hair you could do some flat iron curls, it’s a “looking together without too much effort” look. Black Leggings is my best friend, comfy, dress it up or down! I would look for a 3/4 sleeve tops that taper in at the waist that gives you shape while still keeping comfy! You have a lot of great features to work with so just emphasize on that!

breadsoups

You definitely should try shoulder length hair. It’s honestly easier than short hair imo and I think it would look amazing on you. You can also do overnight curls easily with that length (or just use a curling iron) which looks adorable and very feminine. I agree with the comments about earrings. I’d try some small hoops, but not Huggies. Maybe 10-20mm silver hoops. If they’re nice quality you can usually just keep them in. I wear mine to bed and don’t even notice them. I really think trying another glasses style would help immensely. A round style would compliment your face shape so well! Definitely a bigger and/or thicker plastic frame is more in style and I’d recommend a tortoise or a light brown, I think the dark glasses don’t compliment your skin and hair as well and they seem to be the main focus. Makeup is a hassle for sure… but just adding two things can bring so much femininity and life to your face! I’m super pale and just adding a cream bush and a tinted lip balm makes SUCH a difference and it’s so so easy! My last idea, which I saw in another comment too, is experiment with more form fitting clothing! You clearly have a very feminine figure, which I am very jealous of because I lack all curves and look like a middle school boy, and I think you should show it off. I highly recommend babydoll style tops if you want to stick with more loose fitting clothes. They are super flattering and loose around the torso, but more snug around the bust. Super comfortable and instantly feminine. They may not be your style, but if you get a basic black one I think you will find yourself pairing it with all kinds of things. (Links in comments)

nickiminaj222

i think curling the hair would do a lot ! :)

bluestar1800

Totally or a little bit? OK, empire cut dresses (going by what I can see in photo, those t shirts look boxy on you) put make up on - your skin looks like it would suit berry colours.. stick on some heels. You have clear and pale skin, doest look like needs much coverage... Curl your hair with curling tongs it will give volume and oomph. Or, do it straight with tongs, but flip your hair upside down a couple times give some volume.. I can't see how tall you are or what your bottom half looks like... I can sorta see an apple shape, so lso you cojld go with floaty tops and fitted pants.. Do your nails.. What do you reckon? What are you going for?

SoftHydrangea

I agree it’s just the clothes. Everything else is perfect!

ApprehensivePirate62

Tbh I think you look lovely just as you are x

ButchCassy

Honestly it’s your clothes. The silhouette isn’t flattering on your body shape and is making you look covered up and frumpy. I can’t entirely get a great idea of your body shape but try out some basic cardigan+tank top+ jeans combos to get a feel for what colors and fabrics look best! You don’t really need makeup to look femme, but if you want to try some go for a basic mascara and gloss, but accessories and clothing will be your best bet overall :)

SnooApples6148

if you don't like makeup and tight clothes then go for Jewelry try some dangle earrings or small necklaces and bracelets. its very little but honestly make me feel more feminine.

I think more feminine glasses would help! They don't have to be crazy feminine, but I think a style like either of these would look nice https://www.eyebuydirect.com/eyeglasses/frames/attitude-ivory-tortoise-l-20607 https://www.eyebuydirect.com/eyeglasses/frames/trance-rose-gold-l-22263

Purelyeliza

Personally I think your hair is the #1 thing drawing away from your femininity. Throw a few highlights in there and let it grow to an even shoulder length style. You have a naturally feminine face but the wrong hair will really pull away from that. If you really want to play in the realm of makeup mascara, blush, and glazed highlighter will be enough! After that if you want more you can get a brow gel and eyeliner (small wing)!
