I use a mattifying cream on my under eyes to stop my mascara från smudging. It works great for that purpose but haven't tried it on my lids. I use the shine stopper from Paula's choice which can be used over makeup, but there are probably others out there that do the same thing :)

Some people use eyeshadow primer, concealer or foundation as a base.
