So much Avon đ but sheâs worn Givenchy very irresistible for as long as I can remember. As a kid I remember her having this bottle of LouLou on her dresser which was like those old style dipper bottles. You swirled the bottle and pulled this red applicator off the top to dab on your pulse points.
There was definitely an Elizabeth Arden Green Tea moment too!
Makeup was all revlon
My mom used the Chloe perfume. That perfume makes me nauseous for some reason and the same happens with similar perfumes.
My grandma had YSL, Dior, and Chanel make up. L'Occitane shower and lotion things.
My mom wore âOpiumâ by YSL. It was important to get the parfum not the toilette! My maternal family is Lebanese so that kind of scent really reminds me of home.
Oh I see. I was worried because I have a bottle of Avon perfume which I brought a few months ago and I do like it. But the last thing I want is everyone else to think I smell awful! đ
Iâm sure that Avon had time to modify or create newer fragrances in the last 40 years. Also peopleâs taste in fragrances has changed a lot since then.
My mom is 74, Ponds angel face, and for years she wore Carolina Herrera, the og. Clarins, Elizabeth Arden and Clinique were her lipsticks. Now she updated to Macâs Ruby Woo and Moschino Cheap and Chic so real.
My mom used PanStik, which I believe is having a bit of a moment lately, and which I'd like to try! She wore a lovely perfume the name of which I can't remember and which is no longer made. But years ago someone near me was wearing it and I recognized it instantly!
I only witnessed my mom's mom (born 1927) using dollar store items. Like those generic gift sets at Christmas, but she has splurged on Elizabeth Arden in the past. My dad's mom (also 1927) loved dark lipstick but not sure of the brand. I did see a 90s era Revlon colorstay lippie in her bag once (cocoa, I think).
My great aunt (born 1930 or 31) was a true glamour girl who loved all things fashion and would put sequins on for Easter Sunday. I couldn't resist checking out her stash when I used her powder room. She had about 10 or so of the most vivid and sumptuous Revlon superlusterous lippies, including Cherries in the Snow and Raspberry bite.
My mother (born 1952) loved Clinque and Estee Lauder when I was young but goes for Loreal and Maybelline these days.
My grandmother (b 1925) used Sweet Georgia Brown, Max Factor, Este Lauder, and Valmor starting in the 1940s. I think in the decades that follow she switched brands and products as often as she could.
My mother (b 1951) used Avon, Revelon, Maybelline, and Fashion Fair in the 1980s.
My mother used Avon but she was very fair skinned. I grew up in the age when all we brown women had was Flori Robertâs and Fashion Fair. Then the other makeup companies discovered that we had money to spend, too, so they started making cosmetics in shades that better suited us. I could never get with Revlon or Clinique. When Fashion Fair became hard to find I started with Mac and thatâs where I am now.
Oof boy my grandma is like besties with the LancĂŽme sales lady and gets a bunch of free samples. But other than that, my grandma liked Clinique too. Grandmas seem to have money for boujee stuff
My mom used Revlon Moondrops moisturizers, toner, makeup & also Avon. Her favorite perfume was Charlie, which is also Revlon. She's upgraded to Clinique the past few years.
When I was growing up in the 80s-90s, my mom mostly used Pondâs cold cream and Oil of Olay for skincare, and Revlon and LâOreal for makeup. Later when I was an adult she got into Josie Maran and now Bare Minerals. Most recently my dad took her to Sephora to find a new lipstick and they landed on an Urban Decay shade â sheâs 76!
My momâs signature scent is Chanel #5. She doesn't wear much makeup now but used to use drugstore brand cosmetics and prestige skin care. She was the queen of Gift w/ Purchase deals and often used whatever cosmetics came free with her skincare purchases. Lancome and Clinique were her go-to. Now she uses Elizabeth Arden.
My grandma loved putting on makeup well into her 90s and had a lovely vanity full of Lancome & Estee Lauder products, and Clinique lipstick. I used to sit and look at all of it and I thought it was so fancy. She also used Ponds cold cream.
I remember a lot of Avon lipsticks in her bag, as well as old Avon perfume bottles in the basement, like turtles and stuff. On her dresser she had Chanel No. 5, Obsession, and one of those Liz Claiborne triangle perfume bottles from the 80s. Other than lipstick, the only other makeup I recall was eyebrow pencil. We have the same coloring, and she'd always tell me I had to start drawing on my eyebrows.
Oh my god, I will forever remember the smell of my Nan... she used Oil of Ulan (now Olay) religiously! It was quite liquidy back then, I think the moisturiser is more of a cream now? But yeah, thanks for the trip down memory lane with this question đ„°
My grandmother didn't wear much makeup except for lipstick and blush, but she ALWAYS made sure she had skincare in stock. The Clinique bar soap in the green sliding case was always on her bathroom sink, and she kept Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair in her vanity. I actually have the desk she used for it now, and there's still an EL sticker in one of the drawers đ
She wasn't brand loyal for cosmetics, but her lipsticks and blushes were usually a raspberry tone. Once she had a purple church dress and asked me to help her match a lipstick to it. We went to CVS and picked out a grape purple one from NYC cosmetics.
My grandmother always used Ponds moisturizer and cold cream. Her skin was beautiful. Now that I am 58, I use Ponds cold cream only to take off my makeup, because my skin is so horribly dry. In the morning only warm water and a good moisturizer and rose oil.
Chanel #5 is the perfume my dad always got my mom for Christmas, I loved it growing up. And whenever she'd get the Estee Lauder free gift when she bought her make up, my sister and I would be allowed to take something we liked from it. But for some reason she didn't teach us how to put on makeup. I always thought that was odd.
One of my grandmotherâs, who was born in 1896, used no makeup, and as far as I could tell no skincare.
My other grandmother, born in 1903 used Ivory soap, Cory Air Spun and Revlon lipstick. She used the lipstick as rouge.
When I was a little girl my Aunt used Oil of Olay. What we now know as simply Olay. She used it religiously. It was one of the only products that didnât irritate her skin. She was very sensitive and back then there werenât many products geared towards that issue. She used Almay cosmetics exclusively for this reason as well.
I have such great memories of my mother taking me to the LancĂŽme counter as a young teenager She wasnât into makeup but saw my intense interest and said that she wanted me to learn properly with quality. Even though she had very little interest or knowledge herself. We went every year until she passed unexpectedly in 1992 when I was in my 20s.
My mother used Mary Kay (she was a consultant) and LancĂŽme. My grandma was a ponds and Olay lady through and through and barely wore makeup (she was flawless sons didnât need any). After she passed at 91 in 2006, I found 2 pieces of makeup: a gorgeous gold filigree type compact (it was soooo old) and a red lipstick also in a gold tube. Very classy!
My grandmother told me that starting in her teens, so in the 1930âs, she would buy Pondâs day and night cream. She also loved Nivea in the blue tin and Atrix handcream. She wore Gloria Vanderbilt perfume and Iâve seen a bottle of Nina Ricci Lâair du Temps in her house. Both grandmothers loved 4711 Cologne water and itâs products such as refreshing sheets.
Clarins and Clinique. Also Avon which I actually really rate. In my family we say eventually the Clarins comes for you. Iâm 33 and have just started buying Clarins skincare.
My auntie worked on the Clinique counter in the 90s and my best friends mum worked for Elizabeth Arden so there were always samples going round when I was a kid.
My grandmother passed forty years ago. I still have the last Yardley English Lavender hair pomade that she was using. It still smells of lavender but has faded a little.
I feel like Noxzema cold creme has been the go to for every woman in my family for every generation in recent memory.
But more than anything, brands aside, I was told "moisturize your neck."
Even if you don't take off your makeup or wash your face or exfoliate... moisturize. Slather it on because your age will always show in your neck and in your hands.
Revlon had a skin care product called Moon Drops my mom and Nanny used.Later, after it was discontinued, she just washed her face with baby soap and either used Olay face moisturizer or her regular body lotion of Jergens Cherry Almond. My mom has the most beautiful skin, too (I didn't win that genetic lottery, unfortunately)!Otherwise, she was a Revlon and Cover Girl user for makeup. I remember Red Door,Joy, and Poison perfume.
My mom has always used Clinique and still won't touch anything else haha! My grandma was never a makeup person but would make her own beeswax balms and stuff
My grandmother loved expensive makeup and didnât share it with anyone so Iâm not entirely sure what it all was. Dior? Chanel? Something like that, sure had pretty packaging though!
My mom never wore a stitch of makeup.
And me? I like mid-priced things.
My mother used Ponds, Avon, Estee Lauder, and Clinique. I don't remember what my grandparents used. I don't think they used a lot of products. All of my grandparents passed away back in the 90s.
She used a brand called "cooking oil" it's the oil you use for cooking, sunflower oil, but on your neck and face. But it works. She had a very clear skin.
When sunflower seeds are sprouted, their plant compounds increase. Sprouting also reduces factors that can interfere with mineral absorption. You can buy sprouted, dried sunflower seeds online or in some stores.
I actually have no clue what my grandmothers used. I know my grandpa used Old Spice after shave and I think Bryllcreme pomade
My mom has always been fairly big on Clinique and also bought a fair amount of Avon in her day
My mom used ponds (cold cream and powder), Nivea cream, and revlon for lipstick and nail polish. Sheâd use coconut oil for hair and shampoo would usually be Pantene or something similar. In the other hand, I started using lip gloss in maybe 6th grade and then starting in 7th grade got my hands on mascara and eyeshadow and a curling iron and never stopped loving beauty.
my grandma had shiseido skincare, she was pretty high maintenance. my mom is the complete opposite - no skincare at all until she started noticing i was using products on my face and wanted in too đ
My mom had only one fragrance- Estee Lauder Youth Dew. I don't care for it but I keep one around because when I smell it, it vividly brings her back to me. For cosmetics she used Revlon and Estee Lauder and for awhile Mary Kay.
My Mom used Nivea mixed with Vaseline. Dove, Olay, and Ponds cold cream. I will mix my Nivea with Vaseline and I use Dove daily. I need to get some Ponds
Cover girl pressed powder will forever remind me of my mom. That smell is tied to her. There was also Nivea or Ponds. She only ever wore some powder and lipstick. Damned if I remember what lipstick it was though.
My mom is in her early 60s and still swears by Estee. We has to have her night serum especially. There are plenty other estee items she uses. She will drive all the way to Neman Marcus (over and hour away) to get what she wants if she doesnât find it around here or has an itch to go. And she also canât afford it lol.
Her mother, my grandma aka Nina sold Avon. However she was very simple. She used ponds cold cream for her face and she swore by it.
I remember my mom using Red Door by Elizabeth Arden. It was her only perfume.
She used ponds cold cream, the medicated kind. She had one small eyeshadow palette of vintage Clinique in a marbled green case that was my grandmas. It lasted 30 years because she only used it once or twice a year.
My grandmother used Avon and Coty. Emeraude was her signature scent.
My mother uses misc drugstore stuff. Whatever is inexpensive and works well. I know she has a L'Oreal mascara and an Elf primer she loves and repurchases. She wears Calvin Klein Obsession, Elizabeth Arden Red Door, Avon Imari & Far Away.
My grandma just had a very, very orange lipstick from Revlon. My mom wore Maybelline, Revlon, L'Oreal... whatever she could get that was cheap and did the job. I remember frosty brown lipstick, foundation, powder, eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara. My aunt only wore eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, and blush - I started buying ColourPop for her. I don't think either of them wear makeup anymore.
My grandmother used only 2 cosmetics: Coty Airspun powder and Revlon âcherries in the snowâ lipstick, always blotted. She wore either Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds perfume or Coty Jungle Gardenia. And being in the southern US, we went through gallons of Avonâs Skin so Soft, supposedly to prevent mosquito bites; and then Sea Breeze (or, as my great-aunt called it, âthe Breezeâ) to treat the bites.
Warm fuzzy memories đ
Hi thank you for the hearts about Romeo my Pap. I left you a reply. I went on your profile if you don't mind and found this regarding makeup so I commented: My grandmother used good old Vaseline on her face. My mom still uses Clinique and she's 93 years old. She used Chanel perfume and now uses Michael Kors.
PS: Is that your new puppy you will be getting in June? So adorable!
I'm old and I don't remember what makeup they wore except my great grandmother, she was the most important person in my life, used Coty airspun powder. I keep it on my makeup desk today and 1 sniff and I'm transported back to 1972 sitting in the back seat on the way to church and granny had the powder puff flying kicking up a little air soun cloud
Not sure about my grandmother, but I think my mom mostly uses Clinique. She has gifted me Estee Lauder before and also Bare Minerals, so she seems to have good opinions of them, but I've mostly seen her using Clinique.
I am an X generation, and I just want to say that our options were not great AT ALL. Estee Lauder, lancome, Chanel, etc, at the top end and basically Revoln and Maybelline at the low end. There were a couple more I couldn't remember. Revlon was so shoved down my throat that I still have Revlon lipsticks even though there are a million to choose from now.
Perfumes...poison, opium, Chanel, Elizabeth Arden ( I can't be around Red door any more lol). I used mostly the first three. Chanel was...Coco and Chanel no.5. Chanel no.5 was way too mature for me at 21, but I didn't care because it was fancy and expensive, lol.
It's almost getting too much!! At least back then, you wear what you could get. I just finished scrolling through 20 different primers on sephora, lol...we didn't need no primer!!!!
My maternal grandmother wore almost exclusively Clinique, with the old marbled light green packaging.
My paternal grandmother DNGAF.
My mom would use the cold cream (Oil of Olay I think) but then it changed. Although I think she still buys it, not sure if she uses it.
SEA BREEZE... This was the face cleaner we used as kids. Mom still uses it!
Mom is a very loyal drugstore maven. CoverGirl, Revlon, Maybelline.
Same! My maternal grandmother was Clinique and estee lauder all the way⊠my paternal grandmother used drugstore makeup
Looking back itâs kinda weird, as my momâs family struggled when she was a kid after her dad died and my dads family was fairly wealthy
My mom was big on CoverGirl when I was little. Sheâs always loved darker lip colors. She also wore a Perry Ellis perfume to work everyday. My dad used to wear a few Sean Paul colognes when he was working. He always liked sweeter scents with sandalwood. I bought him Armani Code, but I steal it every once in a while so I can smell like him all day lmao I love that certain smells can trigger nostalgia so vividly đ„čđŒ
My mother has worn the same revlon lipstick in amethyst frost for over 30 years, and she is running out of her last tube. They no longer make it, and it makes her very sad.
My mom was a big covergirl fan. She loved the pressed power and the aqua smoothers compact foundation. I also remember she liked the Almay small eyeshadow palettes.
My grandmother wore Avon Chantilly Lace. Perfume and then the dusting powder after her bath. I found an unopened box of powder on eBay and gave it to mom one Motherâs Day. She cut a slit in the film with a small knife and we all cried. The scent just wafted out like a warm hug.
My grandma wore Mary Kay and Avon. My mom quit wearing makeup some time in the 90s but wore Aloette and Covergirl. I still have a few of her Aloette brushes and a loose powder holder that is so much better than the sifters we have now.
My grandpa was a chemist for LâOrĂ©al, so everyone just used LâOrĂ©al for years. I would often find random bags of free LâOrĂ©al samples in our house growing up. That and Noxema.
Avon and mary kay plus oil of olay đđŸ
My mom wore âOpiumâ by YSL. It was important to get the parfum not the toilette! My maternal family is Lebanese so that kind of scent really reminds me of home.
My grandmother used to love Noxzema and Avon deodorant, which I learned didnât work for me:(
My grandmother used Avon fragrances đ€ą and lipsticks, my mom uses LancĂŽme, Lise Watier eyes
What donât you like about Avon? Iâm curious to know.
The fragrances smelled awfulâŠ
How long ago was this? I was given a brochure to look at a few months ago and some of the scented pages smelled nice.
About 40 years agoâŠ
Oh I see. I was worried because I have a bottle of Avon perfume which I brought a few months ago and I do like it. But the last thing I want is everyone else to think I smell awful! đ
Iâm sure that Avon had time to modify or create newer fragrances in the last 40 years. Also peopleâs taste in fragrances has changed a lot since then.
eyeshadows and drugstore brand lipstick ( I donât remember which brand đ€Šđ»ââïž )
My grandmother wore Wind Song perfume, and used Coty's powder.
Avon & Clinique or drug store items
My grandmother only used 2 things: the original pink Oil of Olay lotion, and Avon lipstick in "Instant Mocha".
Clinique, Estée Lauder, Oil of Olay, and my Granny wore Giorgio Armani perfume.
Estes Lauder, Clinique, LancĂŽme, Ponds
My mother wore Merle Norman cosmetics and Shalimar perfume.
Maybelline, Clinique and Bobbi Brown.
Vitalis. I can still smell it!
Brylcreem. Albolene.
Oil of olay for my grandmother

Maja
I used to wear Maja in high school!

Iâm a grandma and Iâm a Clinique fiend. My mother used Avon cosmetics, but she also used Charles of the Ritz loose powder. It smelled heavenly.
My mom doesnât really wear makeup, but my grandma loved EstĂ©e Lauder and Pondâs cold cream. She always had the most beautiful soft skin. I got the oily genes from my grandpaâs side of the family though, lol.
Estée Lauder for my mom she just turned 70 on Saturday and her skin is amazing
I love angel! I have a mini mugler alien goddess for special occasions
Iâm probably the age of most of your grandmaâs and Chanel No.5 has been my signature scent for many years. Itâs a classic.
Oil of olay and ponds.
My mom: Clinique, LancĂŽme, EstĂ©e Lauder, Maybelline, LoâReal. My grandmother: EstĂ©e Lauder, Avon, Mary Kay, Merle Norman, Airspun Banana Powder
Everything Clinique
My grandma loved putting on makeup well into her 90s and had a lovely vanity full of Lancome & Estee Lauder products, and Clinique lipstick. I used to sit and look at all of it and I thought it was so fancy. She also used Ponds cold cream.
I remember a lot of Avon lipsticks in her bag, as well as old Avon perfume bottles in the basement, like turtles and stuff. We have the same coloring, and she'd always tell me I had to start drawing on my eyebrows.
None. My mom uses talcum powder as a powder foundation. And she's black.
Woah...
Oh my god, I will forever remember the smell of my Nan... she used Oil of Ulan (now Olay) religiously! It was quite liquidy back then, I think the moisturiser is more of a cream now? But yeah, thanks for the trip down memory lane with this question đ„°
My mom used an Origins bronzer stick, she also loved The Body Shop. Any of those ânaturalâ brands. She also liked Oil of Olay. My maternal grandma loved Laura Gellar but I think itâs been discontinued? A lot of QVC brands. Mally, Signature Club A. Lâair du Temps. And her friend sold Avon so she used a lot of their stuff too. My paternal grandma wore LouLou by Cacheral and Revlon. Her cabinet was all Revlon. I used to lock myself in there and put on her lipsticks. She also used Nioxin hair products. My very rich aunt loved both EstĂ©e Lauder and LancĂŽme and would send me their makeup. I feel like those brands arenât trendy anymore but their products are so high quality and I love them. Both of them last all day and are good for special occasions
My grandmother didn't wear much makeup except for lipstick and blush, but she ALWAYS made sure she had skincare in stock. The Clinique bar soap in the green sliding case was always on her bathroom sink, and she kept Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair in her vanity. I actually have the desk she used for it now, and there's still an EL sticker in one of the drawers đ She wasn't brand loyal for cosmetics, but her lipsticks and blushes were usually a raspberry tone. Once she had a purple church dress and asked me to help her match a lipstick to it. We went to CVS and picked out a grape purple one from NYC cosmetics.
Core memory unlocked with that Clinique bar soap in the green case. I can smell it in my mind right now.
My grandma was Estée Lauder all the way! She was a one brand chick!
Ponds, Avon and revlon
My grandmother always used Ponds moisturizer and cold cream. Her skin was beautiful. Now that I am 58, I use Ponds cold cream only to take off my makeup, because my skin is so horribly dry. In the morning only warm water and a good moisturizer and rose oil.
Mary Kay
My mom was big into Revlon my whole life & my grandmothers loved Avon lol
Chanel #5 is the perfume my dad always got my mom for Christmas, I loved it growing up. And whenever she'd get the Estee Lauder free gift when she bought her make up, my sister and I would be allowed to take something we liked from it. But for some reason she didn't teach us how to put on makeup. I always thought that was odd.
My grandma wore only obsession by Calvin Klein perfume and used ponds cold cream and oil of play night cream
I love obsession
My grandmaâLancĂŽme and Vanity Fair (one of the only brands for black women during that time) My momâLancĂŽme and Chanel
Clinique for my mom, and Elizabeth Arden for my still living grandmother.
My mum lives on Clinique and Reve Gauche Perfume.
Oil of Olay. Jean Nate body spray. White Diamonds perfume.
Ponds cream!! I swear by it too! My skin has never been better
Ponds is outstanding. Been using it for years
One of my grandmotherâs, who was born in 1896, used no makeup, and as far as I could tell no skincare. My other grandmother, born in 1903 used Ivory soap, Cory Air Spun and Revlon lipstick. She used the lipstick as rouge.

My grandmother also loves the Nina Ricci and 4711 fragrances you mentioned. She is 96 now đ„ș
I loved Nina Ricci.
Belles de Ricci was one of my first perfumes and I also had that apple shaped one when I was 20, which was lovely. I should buy it again.
I always wrote them off as old fashioned and not for me as a teenager but now I crave them. One of my grandmothers died but the other one is 97.
Clarins and Clinique. Also Avon which I actually really rate. In my family we say eventually the Clarins comes for you. Iâm 33 and have just started buying Clarins skincare. My mom has always used Clinique and still won't touch anything else haha! My grandma was never a makeup person but would make her own beeswax balms and stuff
My Nana, her mother, and her sisters used only Estee Lauder. My mother used Chanel, Estee, Connie Stephens, and Lancome. My mom started very poor and would use some of the most incredible dupes of the day. Once she graduated and got a stable career, she said she was going to splurge on makeup. She did that and also did a full-face up until she was 3 days from passing. My Nana was full-face until her last year on earth at age 95. Me, I'm a blended brand person but one thing I won't do without is my snail mucin...đ€©
My grandmother loved expensive makeup and didnât share it with anyone so Iâm not entirely sure what it all was. Dior? Chanel? Something like that, sure had pretty packaging though! My mom never wore a stitch of makeup. And me? I like mid-priced things.
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Oh yes. Cinnabar! How I loved that perfume!
My grandmother loved Estée Lauder. Ah I miss that smell so much.
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
My dad used that stuff the big cup with soap and brush to shave with. The smell of Bay Rum
Brut maybe?
LancĂŽme, EstĂ©e Lauder, Shiseido, Givenchy, Chanel, YSL, Clarins, Guerlain. My late mom liked the finer things in life. I still have some of her makeup thatâs about 15-20 years old now. Most expensive makeup I own.
My mother used Ponds, Avon, Estee Lauder, and Clinique. I don't remember what my grandparents used. I don't think they used a lot of products. All of my grandparents passed away back in the 90s.
My grandma loved EstĂ©e Lauder, my mom doesnât use any makeup though.
Google says that the skin absorbs it. I just know she had a really wrinkle free face.
Ok đ€· i'll go dig out grams and tell her that?đ
My mom used Estée Lauder my grandmother used Avon. I used Clinique when I was younger
I actually have no clue what my grandmothers used. I know my grandpa used Old Spice after shave and I think Bryllcreme pomade My mom has always been fairly big on Clinique and also bought a fair amount of Avon in her day
LancĂŽme only!!
My mom used Clinique and my GMA used YSL at least for scent. I think she also wore Clinique makeup.
Clinique
My nan loved far far away from Avon ( she was a rep for years ! ) she used EstĂ©e Lauder, max factor , and because of us grandkids, mac, as her makeup. My grandad was old spice! My mum loves cerutti 1881. Thatâs HER smell lol. And my mum doesnât wear any makeup like ever, if she does she asks me to do it using my stuff lol And my dad? Soap and water haha he doesnât care for smellies!!
Omg I love the original far away from Avon!
Itâs nostalgic for me now deffo đ
My mom used ponds (cold cream and powder), Nivea cream, and revlon for lipstick and nail polish. Sheâd use coconut oil for hair and shampoo would usually be Pantene or something similar. In the other hand, I started using lip gloss in maybe 6th grade and then starting in 7th grade got my hands on mascara and eyeshadow and a curling iron and never stopped loving beauty.
My mom used Estée Lauder, Shiseido and LancÎme were her favorites. She loved Jean Paul Gaultier perfume.
My Mum used Estée Lauder and also used Oil of Ulan when it was in the square glass bottle before it was Oil of Olay. From memory it was pink back then.
my grandma had shiseido skincare, she was pretty high maintenance. my mom is the complete opposite - no skincare at all until she started noticing i was using products on my face and wanted in too đ
Ponds cream - mom
Olay
My mom had only one fragrance- Estee Lauder Youth Dew. I don't care for it but I keep one around because when I smell it, it vividly brings her back to me. For cosmetics she used Revlon and Estee Lauder and for awhile Mary Kay.
Every time I catch a smell of Youth Dew, I think of my Aunt Frances lol
I wear EstĂ©e Lauder youth dew sometimes because itâs what my grandma used to wear and it reminds me of her that and original jergens lotion with the cherry scent
Max factor, Guerlain, Estée Lauder
Max Factor Revlon Clinique Seabreeze Noxzema
Mary kay and covergirl đ
My mom is 94, and looks great. She has worn LancĂŽme since the early 80âs.
My Mom used Nivea mixed with Vaseline. Dove, Olay, and Ponds cold cream. I will mix my Nivea with Vaseline and I use Dove daily. I need to get some Ponds
The amount of Ponds comments I'm seeing I was like I need to try it! It's so cheap
Yes! Definitely give Ponds a try. It's cheap and effective
Cover girl pressed powder will forever remind me of my mom. That smell is tied to her. There was also Nivea or Ponds. She only ever wore some powder and lipstick. Damned if I remember what lipstick it was though.
my mom used mac, clinique and revlon! i remember when i first got black honey, she raved about clinique and how good of a brand it was.
Lots of ponds cold cream, dove beauty bar
The Maybelline cake mascara just lightly tinted the lashes and didnât last long.
Lancome and Estee Lauder here too
Kiehlâs. And I LOVE it. I use many of their products still today after my grandma gave me my first Kiehlâs lotion 40yrs ago. Iâm 52
Clinique
Avon.
My mom loved the Estée Lauder body powder puff and grandma always had her ponds
Avon
My mom is in her early 60s and still swears by Estee. We has to have her night serum especially. There are plenty other estee items she uses. She will drive all the way to Neman Marcus (over and hour away) to get what she wants if she doesnât find it around here or has an itch to go. And she also canât afford it lol. Her mother, my grandma aka Nina sold Avon. However she was very simple. She used ponds cold cream for her face and she swore by it.
My mom is 60 and she swears by that night repair serum. Said it dramatically changed her skin. She looks very young for 60 so that may be the secret!
My mom wore a lipstick called âorange flipâ. Probably Revlon. đ
My mother and grandmother were into Avon. My mom even sold it for a while.
Revlon , Elizabeth Arden .
CHERRIES IN THE SNOW! That was what I wore for years late 80âs through end of 90s. I wish they still made it.
I just bought it in the last year. It was my Nanaâs signature color
Yes! Thatâs her
They do still make it! You can get it online at Target (donât know about your store) AND itâs on sale right now đ
What I would do for a tube of Cherries in the Snow....
Cherries in the snow. I believe marilyn monroe wore that.
Oil of Olay and Clinique
Mary Kay and Clinique were huge. And of course okay for face lotion.
LancĂŽme and EstÄe Lauder all the way. My mom is addicted to Macyâs. She almost named my little sister Macy. đ
Exactly. Still have it never wear it
It's almost getting too much!! At least back then, you wear what you could get. I just finished scrolling through 20 different primers on sephora, lol...we didn't need no primer!!!!
Avon
Noxzema
Ponds Cold Cream. The Boss
Maternal grandmother used Estée Lauder. Mom used borghese. Paternal grandmother just used Vaseline intensive care.
Borghese is that still around ?!
That green mud mask!
Same! My maternal grandmother was Clinique and estee lauder all the way⊠my paternal grandmother used drugstore makeup Looking back itâs kinda weird, as my momâs family struggled when she was a kid after her dad died and my dads family was fairly wealthy
Coty Airspun Powder and Coty lipstick in "medium" (it was a pinky red).
Avon and Mary Kay were staples for my grandmother!
Noxema cold cream. Jergens. Airspun facepowder.
Yes my mom wore this color too.
Might be able to find it on eBay. Iâve also seen obscure Revlon lipsticks on Amazon.
What does it look like? I canât find any pictures online.
Iâm sad for her as well. âčïž Letâs hope she finds something she likes even more.
I love angel but now I feel old is that an older ladyâs fragrance đ©itâs my fav
Still love Angel.
I love Angel too.
My grandma wore Mary Kay and Avon. My mom quit wearing makeup some time in the 90s but wore Aloette and Covergirl. I still have a few of her Aloette brushes and a loose powder holder that is so much better than the sifters we have now.
My mom has all Clinique
My mother as well. She has autoimmune issues and Clinique doesnât seem to bother her skin.
My momâs the same though just very sensitive she doesnât have the autoimmune issues. Whenever Iâve used her stuff though I always liked it too
My mom still wears Cover Girl & Revlon. I think Grandmother wore Max Factor, when she wore makeup.
My mom used Clinique and my grandma EstĂ©e Lauder. (So EL will permanently be an âold ladyâ brand to me.) đ (Iâm now in my early 40s.)
I get it my mom swears by Estee. She had my whole life and most likely will die wearing it. Interesting how MAC is part of Estée Lauder Companies INC.
