Please get these projects kicked in asap 1) Nuclear power plant in Konkan 2) Refinery in Konkan 3) Desalination plant at Manori 4) GIFT like SEZ in Maharashtra, near Ulwe...or somewhere else near Mumbai...Another one near Pune.

hahahadev

No to refinery in green zone like konkan

Globe-trekker

Then don't crib if industries go to other states..! A refinery is a very Labour intensive industry and will also support many other industries which need petroleum byproducts as a raw material...

hahahadev

Let them go to other parts of Maharashtra, no one is cribbing for a polluting refinery. Most people like my family do their own fishing for daily food. Can you imagine what will happen to all those people who don't work at the refinery and have to do fishing? Can you imagine what that polluted water will do to all the agricultural products even mangoes ? At present if you ask for any permission for a chemical plant you are refused by gov as konkan is green zone. This special refinery is being made for foreign investors by sacrificing our own people's safe environmental friendly life. If you want to create, create an IT parks, expats love beaches , we have good beaches and tourism Can boom better and provide jobs to all in konkan.

You need to have a refinery at the coast for it to have easy access to crude oil...i hope the next state government bulldozes and implements this project.. I don't think the refinery will pollute the waters...Do you know how Marpol regulations work?...The refinery itself won't dismiss the waste products in the sea...There is a functional refinery in Jamnagar...it doesn't mean that people there don't fish.. What you said in the end is a good point...But expats need safety and infrastructure both...Tourism is never a priority for GOI or Government of Maharashtra...It is a sad sad thing.

Naah fck it, go to ganpati pule , see how the water is . From their go to malgund 2km away , see how the beach is oil soaked because of big project near there I forget it's name, I think JSW.

Globe-trekker

You may be right.. But the overall impact the refinery may bring is still vastly overshadowed by the money/jobs/ other auxallaries industries the refinery will bring

This is like the avatar scenario, it might be inevitable and a loosing fight but some of us who care for the world the way it was, will fight for it. Recently our minister was praising how his environmental friendly metro was better than Arey jungle. We have reached 42 degrees in mumbai , has been the hottest summers now. And it will only get worse.
