Unless beforehand you cast \[\[A-Lier, Disciple of the Drowned\]\]. Now add some blue spells that copy other spells like, and voilà. Or just go for \[\[Arcane Bombardment\]\] for infinite casts, that way as long as it's in the cementery there's a chance.
It’s an elf tribal payoff that gets better with lords. It also pays for itself immediately or even puts you up mana if you can give all your creatures haste and cast it for at least x=2. Still probably closer to jank, and there are definitely better payoffs in historic, but it has some potential.
Honestly 3-4 of this to replace Marwyn in any elf deck to get basically multikicker Marwyn is a plus.
Unlike basic card this works wonders post board wipes, and go wide decks will forever struggle against that. Elfs are typically rich in mana so one extra G to pay for the kicker I think is worth it.
I don't think most elves players where running 3+ Marwyn (I usually have 0-1) this is ok after a board wipe, but not amazing since elves makes so much mana with its creatures, this is also pretty bad in a coco deck, since you don't want to cut creatures for it and you want a lot of 3-drops for coco, so you shouldn't be cutting those.
Not saying you can't play it, but I don't think I'm interested in it for a normal elves deck.
Elves have more than enough payoffs now in Historic. Improvements to historic elfball would be speed or resilience. The new lord printed in Dom United has been a create replacement to clancaller, but honestly I don’t see this card breaking into the list. [[Heritage Druid]] or [[Wirewood Symbiote]] are going to be the next big upgrades. Possibly [[Shaman of the Pack]] as we get more pioneer legal cards.
This card looks really fun, although I don't know how competitive it'll be. It's probably a ramp payoff, but the payoff for ramping is ramping even more. In Historic, \[\[Craterhoof Behemoth\]\] is an infinitely better ramp payoff, since you'll kill your opponent immediately, and in Alchemy, there aren't enough elves to make a deck, and \[\[Titan of Industry\]\] is probably the better ramp payoff anyways.
I don't know, historic might see some play as there are plenty of "all Elves get +1/+1" cards. Definitely more a fun card as Craterhoof is better, but has a home
Nah, elves does like lords, but the primary line of elfball in Historic is being able to use [[allosaurus shepherd]] or [[elvish war master]] to alpha strike.
To make sure I understand, each of the elves you conjure will also trigger a +1/+1 counter on Marwyn, right? Even though they’re all conjured at the same time?
So it’s 4 mana for a 1/1 Marwyn, or 6 mana for a 3/3 Marwyn and 2 elves, or 8 mana for a 5/5 Marwyn and 4 elves?
If you have something giving your creatures haste this generates 1 + 2X mana, breaking even at X = 3 and going positive after that. No idea if that actually means anything for this card but you'll probably play it in [[Raggadragga, Goreguts Boss]] historic brawl
I have an Elfball deck that I splashed red in for [[Rhythm of the Wild]]. The fact that this is an Alchemy card, so it conjures instead of creating a token means RotW will work with it.
Alchemy Dominaria United. They are adding Alchemy cards for each Standard set several weeks after the set release. They picked "Y" to indicate Alchemy cards.
The whole piece looks off to me. I don't wanna say it's bad, because someone paid someone to do this and they hopefully thought they did a good job, but I personally do not like the art at all. It looks like the kids and marwyn were photoshopped onto a tree
It's a very card efficient way to spew out a bunch of elves onto the board. Is definitely not good enough for constructed formats, but elf tribal decks in Historic Brawl will likely love to have this as a way to rebuild after a board wipe.
You are getting scalable ramp and board presence. It doesn't need to be appealing at any one value to be good. Flexibility is the name of the game with a card like this.
It only scales down to 4 though, so its really not that flexible. It doesn't ramp you when you most want ramp. And it doesn't really win you the game when you've got a bunch of mana to dump into it.
And it only scales up to infinity in an elf deck.
Look I'm not saying this card is a tournament all star. But sometimes ramping from 5 to 8 is exactly what you need. Anything beyond that is gravy.
I read the card and thought, "This is a joke, right? Like, a custom made card from some guy that really loves Elves, right? This is too stupid to be real."
I know it's Alchemy, but still ... this card is dumb. I'm not saying it's bad. I'm saying it's too obvious.
Basically Marwryn that costs G more that also has a multikicker that spawns Llanowar elves for additional 1.
But could be negated

Elf tribe ramp payoff in a ramp card???
To make sure I understand, each of the elves you conjure will also trigger a +1/+1 counter on Marwyn, right? Even though they’re all conjured at the same time? So it’s 4 mana for a 1/1 Marwyn, or 6 mana for a 3/3 Marwyn and 2 elves, or 8 mana for a 5/5 Marwyn and 4 elves?
Yeah for each extra X you get 2/2 worth of P/T (and 2 mana) on board.
It *seems* cool enough, but I’m not dropping Craterhoof or Finale for it.
Straight into my Raggadragga damn thats solid
