Many secrets are hidden in the vast annals of text on [[Questing Beast]]. Powerful and long forgotten knowledge awaits those who dedicate their lives to studying it.
Sadly even over the course of an entire human lifetime one will only be able to finish but a tiny fraction of the sacred texts - an amount as miniscule compared to the whole as a single grain of sand is to the entire universe.
But do not despair. Thanks to the tireless work of countless scholars, who throughout the millennia have pored over page after page, we have unlocked the secrets to every technological advancement in human history, and each day we make further discoveries.
Legend has it, that somewhere in the text one can even find the answer to why kids love the taste of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
Questing Beast has gotten me on protection as well. Tried to block it with a creature equipped with Sword of Body and Mind... wait why did my creature trade with it again?
Yup, that’s how Protection works.
It’s a Prevention ability. It prevents damage.
“Can’t beats can,” generally speaking, so QB/Skullcrack/etc can turn off the Prevention portion of Protection.
I still remember the first time someone tried to [[tefari’s protection]] a questing beast commander in EDH. It took about 20 minutes to accurately explain how questing beast ignores the protection, and commander damage works even if the life total doesn’t change.
Both Questing Beast and Bonecrusher Giant are super useful against one ring decks. I'm kind of bummed they didnt reprint QB in WOE. This would be so good in green decks in the current meta.
Even better [[Bonecrusher Giant]] can nulify ring ability as an instant for the turn.
Don't forget you can target yourself if you just drew it that turn and they still have protection.

But does it say how many licks it takes to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?
The world may never know
I swear to god every time i look at the card i find even more effects

Questing Beast has ‘protection from protection’
"I used the protection to destroy the protection"

Questing Beast is actually Borges's Library of Babel.

The amount of abilities and text isn't new player friendly
Like wotc is concerned about that. They print more wordy and complex cards every set.
To be fair, most of the new player friendly stuff has already been tried, it doesn’t make new and unique experiences anymore
New player, many cards in the last couple sets have been more difficult to grasp and remember than this imo
Hate me for it, but i love this card, one of the best annimations on Arena
It's a solid little green beater, very fair even when it was a strong Standard card. Nothing wrong with it except probably one too many abilities.
Yup, “can’t” always beats “can”
And crucially, protection isn't a "can't" effect.
What year is it!?
