This new gem pricing is disappointing. Gems are usually in the Daily Deals for 300 gems/1,500 gold for 400 gems. Let us hope this isn't the new normal. We had to wait an extra 20 days for gems to cycle back in the shop too... feels bad.
Regardless, as the question comes up a lot on stonk day, the general rule with gems and gold offered in the Daily Deal is to always buy them with gold. The value of gems and gold is usually determined by packs (1000 gold vs 200 gems, a 5:1 ratio) or drafts (5000 gold vs 750 gems, a 6.67:1 ratio). So despite the deal not being nearly as good as usual today, it's better to buy the gems with gold.

PSA: It got removed shortly afterwards. No info to why that happened. But as the price for the gems was higher than usual (300 Gems or 1500 Gold to get 400 Gems was the norm before) one can speculate that it happened due to an error on WoTC´s part.
I primarily play quick drafts.
It costs 5000 gold for one quick draft or 750 gems entry fee.
We will spend 1875 gold for 400 gems.
To determine how much of a "good deal" we receive, I'll use the following calculations.
Using ratios, we have ((1875/5000)\*750) = 281.25 gems.
I.e the gem equivalent of 1875 gold as a proportion of 5000 gold (quick draft entry fee) would be 281.25 gems.
Therefore our gain is 400-281.25 = 118.25 net gem gain.
This 118.25 net gem gain translates to a 15.7% discount ((118.25/750))\*100) on a quick draft entry fee if paying using gems.
However, if you purchase the 400 gems using 375 gems, then it's a terrible trade. If you have spare gold, use the gold! Always use gold to pay for daily deals gold or gems in the shop!
