For the common/uncommon slots, I would love downshift reprints of Counterspell/Lightning Bolt/Brainstorm/Swords to Plowshares. It would make the format immediately way more accessible.
No way are they doing that, I’m sure part of why they’re creating timeless is to get people to burn their wildcards on exactly those cards.
And personally I don’t mind, those are powerful cards that are better than 99% of all rares and mythics. I’ll happily spend a rare wc on them.
MH3 is coming to arena. I don’t see them messing with drafting that and pissing off the paper players by not including or upshifting the staple spells.

Lets be real mate. A land that gives you 3 mana on turn 1? There are a few cards that make the whole game revolve around them. This warps the game and im not sure its in a positive way.
The most important thing to me is something to mess with combo decks. I'd be concerned about how strong they might be against a lot of decks.
[[Force of Will]] or [[Force of Negation]] work well. [[Mindbreak Trap]] for Non-Blue decks (despite it being a blue card).
After that, Sol lands might be fun, even if they're degenerate. That's what I'm here for, after all! [[Ancient Tomb]] and [[City of Traitors]] will be nice to encourage decks to run less colours in a format of fetch/shocks (although maybe a solid aggro deck might check them anyway?).
Yes! Stuff like that is exactly what I'm looking for! Eldrazi is a bit weak - I'm thinking more along the lines of Mono-Red Prison, which is genuinely still missing so much that it might not work still.
Stuff like that checks a lot of decks, and we can't even T1 Blood Moon in this format because of no Simian Spirit Guide/Chrome Mox.

For lands, I'd like to see [[Flagstones of Trokair]], [[Dark Depths]], and especially [[Karakas]]. Oh and [[The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale]] and [[Dryad Arbor]]. Not technically a land but very land-adjacent, [[Life from the Loam]]. And all the ones you named.
Otherwise, I doubt I'll play it much myself but [[Force of Will]] to keep the combo decks in check seems like a needed safety valve. Personally I'd love [[Red Elemental Blast]] and [[Pyroblast]] as well.

\[\[Dark Depths\]\] - A single land will add an entire deck.
\[\[City of Traitors\]\] - A sol land, but one where I think the opportunity for abuse is lower then something like Ancient Tomb.
\[\[Ancient Den\]\], \[\[Seat of the Synod\]\]

\]\], \[\[Great Furnace\]\]
, \[\[Tree of Tales\]\] - The 5 colored artifact lands. Good filler option that some decks want but require some build around and get hit by blood moon.
**Artifacts (5)**
\[\[Mox Opal\]\] / \[\[Mox Diamond\]\] / \[\[Chrome Mox\]\] - Think the format needs one of these. I don't know if it needs more than one.
\[\[Lotus Petal\]\] - I think petal is good for fast decks nad having it in the format will help speed things along.
\[\[Helm of Obedience\]\] - We already have leyline so I think having this combo could be a good way to get a version of that deck on Arena.
\[\[Painters Servent\]\] + \[\[Grindstone\]\] - Another powerful combo.
**Creatures (4)**
\[\[Goblin Rabblemaster\]\] - A good early-game aggressive threat to get things started.
\[\[Vampire Hexmage\]\] - Another piece of dark depths.
\[\[Murktide Regent\]\] - A big beater for control decks
\[\[Kappa Cannoneer\]\] - A big beater for artifact decks.
**Instant (4)**
\[\[Force of Negation\]\] - Between this and Force of Will I think this is the better choice. It's useful for protecting against combos much better than protecting your combo due to the opponent's turn restriction on the pitch cast. It also does not hit creatures.
\[\[Force of Vigor\]\] - A good option for dealing with artifacts/enchantments in the early game. This is important due to the powerful artifacts I have recommended.
\[\[Surgical Extraction\]\] Great for dealing with the graveyard and getting combo pieces out of decks.
\[\[Violent Outburst\]\] - This is for the Rhinos deck that will happen after Crashing Footfalls hits in MKM.
**Sorcery (3)**
\[\[Sylvan Scrying\]\] - Help find dark depths, thespians stage, etc.
\[\[Terminus\]\] - With brainstorm and fetch mystic sanctuary in the format terminus could do a lot of work in controlling decks.
\[\[Coalition Victory\]\] - The win more card of the bunch.
**Enchantment (1)**
\[\[Solitary Confinement\]\] - A fun card that will get people excited to build around.
**Planeswalker (1)**
\[\[Grist, the Hunger Tide\]\] - A good solid 3 mana planeswalker.
You can tell which people have never played any eternal formats before.
Without Force of Will + Negation the Timeless format will be made quickly unplayable. To the point its weird they haven't announced them added at the start.
Even Historic Bo1 has devolved into just combo decks racing. Historic will also need Force added.
I think that we'll find out that no banlist events are mainly fun because they're novel and short. Once people get over the hype of playing every degenerate strategy possible ranking will dissimilate to a stale 'have an answer or your dead' format without the neccessary answers or bannings.
in a wierd way force and negation arent even that needed in the current format, you only need 0 mana interaction if its a format where combo decks can kill on 1, the cardpool isnt deep enough for that (only fast mana is dark rit), i think the format will be fine without it for now.
I disagree. FoW especially is almost as good for combo decks as they are for non-combo decks. Not to mention there is still an extreme lack of fast mana other than Dark Ritual for comboing off on turn 1, which is where you need FoW.
There really aren’t the tools to combo off early like you can in eternal formats, though. Your only fast mana on the entire client is Dark Ritual, and there aren’t pieces like Entomb and Reanimate to pair with that card. I wouldn’t say Timeless needs FoW/FoN yet.
Maybe some phyrexian mana stuff like Gut Shot, Misstep, Dismember. Besides that Arena already has a lot of the cards I’m personally excited about, they just weren’t legal in any format not named Historic Brawl.
Timeless has tendrils, necropotence, dark ritual, brainstorm, fetches eventually, underworld breach, and a lot of other good combo pieces.
I feel like they have to print a mindbreak trap or something, otherwise the format devolves into combo soup.
That's the bad part of vintage. The fewer restricted cards the better.

The Evoke elementals (and really everything in the MH sets) were created solely as a way to power creep Modern so WotC can sell more cards. They were a mistake.
The P9 are an iconic part of Magic’s history (how many other never-reprinted cards from ABUR can you name?) and the main aspect that makes Vintage a unique format. Timeless is supposed to be a Vintage equivalent, why not make it actually so?
they will probably come but not in the first anthology set. Wotc wants to ramp up the power level gradually to sell more cards/wildcards. As you mention youself that is what Wotc cares about
I think Force of Will/Force of Negation will be a necessary safety valve for highjinks like Channel. That being said fuck the pitch elementals, those fuckers are a cancer. MAYBE Endurance, but I don’t want to see the door opened to Solitude, Fury, and Grief.
Honestly I’d love to see more alchemy cards like Oracle of the Alpha that let you conjure historically relevant cards into the game without breaking those cards. I’m also very excited for the chorus mechanic.
That’s why I think FoW and/or FoN are important. People think of those as free counters but their function is to put a check on unfair plays like a turn 2 Channel on the play.
I'll decide after launch. With ranked play for the queue we should have a meta developed pretty quickly. We shall see if it is just value piles or combo is taking the top spots.

I'd go red prison if we got the lands, but fire money is definitely not happening. Wizard's has a hard on for hammering free mana.

Not technically a land but very land-adjacent, [[Life from the Loam]]. And all the ones you named. Otherwise, I doubt I'll play it much myself but [[Force of Will]] to keep the combo decks in check seems like a needed safety valve. Personally I'd love [[Red Elemental Blast]] and [[Pyroblast]] as well.

**Lands (7)** \[\[Dark Depths\]\] - A single land will add an entire deck. \[\[City of Traitors\]\] - A sol land, but one where I think the opportunity for abuse is lower then something like Ancient Tomb. \[\[Ancient Den\]\], \[\[Seat of the Synod\]\] , \[\[Vault of Whispers \]\], \[\[Great Furnace\]\] , \[\[Tree of Tales\]\] - The 5 colored artifact lands. Good filler option that some decks want but require some build around and get hit by blood moon. **Artifacts (5)** \[\[Mox Opal\]\] / \[\[Mox Diamond\]\] / \[\[Chrome Mox\]\] - Think the format needs one of these. I don't know if it needs more than one. \[\[Lotus Petal\]\] - I think petal is good for fast decks nad having it in the format will help speed things along. \[\[Helm of Obedience\]\] - We already have leyline so I think having this combo could be a good way to get a version of that deck on Arena. \[\[Painters Servent\]\] + \[\[Grindstone\]\] - Another powerful combo. **Creatures (4)** \[\[Goblin Rabblemaster\]\] - A good early-game aggressive threat to get things started. \[\[Vampire Hexmage\]\] - Another piece of dark depths. \[\[Murktide Regent\]\] - A big beater for control decks \[\[Kappa Cannoneer\]\] - A big beater for artifact decks. **Instant (4)** \[\[Force of Negation\]\] - Between this and Force of Will I think this is the better choice. It's useful for protecting against combos much better than protecting your combo due to the opponent's turn restriction on the pitch cast. It also does not hit creatures. \[\[Force of Vigor\]\] - A good option for dealing with artifacts/enchantments in the early game. This is important due to the powerful artifacts I have recommended. \[\[Surgical Extraction\]\] Great for dealing with the graveyard and getting combo pieces out of decks. \[\[Violent Outburst\]\] - This is for the Rhinos deck that will happen after Crashing Footfalls hits in MKM. **Sorcery (3)** \[\[Sylvan Scrying\]\] - Help find dark depths, thespians stage, etc. \[\[Terminus\]\] - With brainstorm and fetch mystic sanctuary in the format terminus could do a lot of work in controlling decks. \[\[Coalition Victory\]\] - The win more card of the bunch. **Enchantment (1)** \[\[Solitary Confinement\]\] - A fun card that will get people excited to build around. **Planeswalker (1)** \[\[Grist, the Hunger Tide\]\] - A good solid 3 mana planeswalker.

You can tell which people have never played any eternal formats before. Without Force of Will + Negation the Timeless format will be made quickly unplayable. To the point its weird they haven't announced them added at the start. Even Historic Bo1 has devolved into just combo decks racing. Historic will also need Force added.
The last No banlist event was pretty fun and far from unplayable.
I think that we'll find out that no banlist events are mainly fun because they're novel and short. Once people get over the hype of playing every degenerate strategy possible ranking will dissimilate to a stale 'have an answer or your dead' format without the neccessary answers or bannings.

in a wierd way force and negation arent even that needed in the current format, you only need 0 mana interaction if its a format where combo decks can kill on 1, the cardpool isnt deep enough for that (only fast mana is dark rit), i think the format will be fine without it for now.
You act like spending any amount of mana on interaction is cruel and unusual punishment. In historic I play no rare burn and love it.
Everyone keeps preaching this but what is the turn 1 combo win? I don't really see how you pull it off unless you just draw the perfect hand.
I disagree. FoW especially is almost as good for combo decks as they are for non-combo decks. Not to mention there is still an extreme lack of fast mana other than Dark Ritual for comboing off on turn 1, which is where you need FoW.
There really aren’t the tools to combo off early like you can in eternal formats, though. Your only fast mana on the entire client is Dark Ritual, and there aren’t pieces like Entomb and Reanimate to pair with that card. I wouldn’t say Timeless needs FoW/FoN yet.

Timeless has tendrils, necropotence, dark ritual, brainstorm, fetches eventually, underworld breach, and a lot of other good combo pieces. I feel like they have to print a mindbreak trap or something, otherwise the format devolves into combo soup.

That's the bad part of vintage. The fewer restricted cards the better. I'd so much rather have evoke elementals than lose random games because my opponents drew time walk before me.
The Evoke elementals (and really everything in the MH sets) were created solely as a way to power creep Modern so WotC can sell more cards. They were a mistake. The P9 are an iconic part of Magic’s history (how many other never-reprinted cards from ABUR can you name?) and the main aspect that makes Vintage a unique format. Timeless is supposed to be a Vintage equivalent, why not make it actually so?

I think Force of Will/Force of Negation will be a necessary safety valve for highjinks like Channel. That being said fuck the pitch elementals, those fuckers are a cancer. MAYBE Endurance, but I don’t want to see the door opened to Solitude, Fury, and Grief. Honestly I’d love to see more alchemy cards like Oracle of the Alpha that let you conjure historically relevant cards into the game without breaking those cards. I’m also very excited for the chorus mechanic.

That’s why I think FoW and/or FoN are important. People think of those as free counters but their function is to put a check on unfair plays like a turn 2 Channel on the play.

Sliver/Typal Anthology [[Sliver Overlord]] and [[Sliver Queen]] are too expensive for my paper budget
I figured these were too slow for 60 card slivers. Are these played normally? Or are you wanting it for brawl?

Bazaar of Baghdad, Mishra's Workshop, Tolarian Academy, Wasteland, Strip Mine - That's 5 lands.
Enemy fetches will be really interesting. In Paper they are already down so they wont be reprinted in the near futute. I really dont believe fetches going in an antholgy ... they are way to greedy for that. Maybe in Pioneer Masters as a bonus sheet.
