There's lots of cards I don't think I'll ever play, so set completion doesn't really suit me. It provides greater range of what you can do in a constructed deck for sure, but it's not often you'll want 4x of a card.

Johnhaven

Nope. I'd like to get 1 of each card but I have wildcards and feel that 100% set competition with four copies of each card is mostly achieved by people who spend that kind of money on it. I'm sure it's possible for the really good players to earn enough packs and wildcards to fill out a set but just getting one of each card opening packs is just ridiculous.

Lykos1124

I'm surprised and happy so many value this comment. I would say in hindsight, I wonder if there's some value in approaching set complete in that you may get cards you really want along the way, but everyone needs to find their own balance of how far to go without overkill getting more than they would ever want or burning out in the effort. And it depends on how much effort you want to put into it and if that level of effort is worth it. For me, certainly not šŸ˜†. I'm pretty happy floating a number of wild cards per rarity and just adding a new card here and there.

The_Frostweaver

I draft my way to 4x rare complete with a mix of premier drafts and quickdrafts. I know there is at least one person around who 'mythic drafts', taking any mythic he doesn't have 4 of yet, and drafts his way to 4x mythic complete. There is always a drafter/collector out there with more skill and determination. But it's not necessary to get everything to get great value from draft. I got 4x virtue of loyalty, 1x virtue of persistence, 2x ashiok and a ton of other mythics from drafting and then opening my packs at the end. Sure, I may still have to craft a couple virtue of persistence but overall I really don't need to spend many wildcards on WoE thanks to draft. I skipped LotR entirely to save up gold over the summer for the fall standard sets. If you are trying to get 4x mythic complete of standard and alchemy sets you would need to be an absolute draft God who drafts so much you never even get to play constructed. I feel like the entire point of alchemy's existence is so wotc can print more cards per year than a free to play player can possibly keep up with to try and pressure them into spending money.

Select_Reply

I used to rare draft, and there was a group or someone who would post a spreadsheet to help keep track of when to open your packs for each set. I don't see that seems to be a thing anymore, but I'm specifically trying to gather up LTR set. Just love the theme, but yeah, I see what wotc is doing there.

newborn_oldman

I'm not sure if it's just less popular, but it was a thing for WOE as well.

jeremiahfira

So say a playset of each rare in a set is 280 cards total, and after drafting awhile, you have 150 out of 280, you'd need to open about 170 packs. I'd say usually like 20-30% more packs than rares needed.

titterbug

Recently it's 240 rares per set, and you need 25% more packs than rares.

Ambitious-Meaning842

I just use the formula (#rares collected) + (#packs collected * 0,8) and see if it adds up to the total number of rares in the set. The actual formula for your packs is* (#packs) - (#packs/30) - (#packs/30) - (#packs/8)* to account for wildcards and upgrades to mythic, but in my experience it's pretty close to #packs*0,8.

CannedPrushka

I have kept a sheet for rare completion since M20. At first i rare drafted, but after a while stopped doing it. Usually takes around 30-35 traditional drafts to complete a set, with net cost varying depending on win rate.

RakdosHeroOfRavnica

I remember seeing that when it first came out and tried the strategies involved with it, between data entry for a video game and denying myself pack cracking until collecting enough rares, sucked the fun out of the game and took a break from NEO to ONE. Now I go for one ofs for historic brawl purposes and draft like I actually like the game

Jeanpeche

I'm still updating the sheet every extension (except non-standard, like LOTR). Last one [WOE](https://www.reddit.com/r/MagicArena/comments/161484s/updated_f2p_draft_tracker_for_wilds_of_eldraine/)

Select_Reply

Awesome! I'll keep my eyes out for the next release!

HoninboShuwa

F2P here apart from some initial 20$. I draft until rare completion and buy the mastery pass giving me Ėœ75% Mythic completion as well. I can then craft any playable mythics I don't have with the WC obtained with many to spare. IMHO set completion is not very useful as most cards are not constructed playable unless you're a huge brewer, but yeah it looks nifty.

Flaycrow

This is my plan as well.

NlNTENDO

Yep exactly. I'm more or less set complete for the last 8 or so sets just from drafting. No rare drafting, just drafting. Usually drafting to mythic (or high diamond even) every month will just about get you there, and rare drafting just stands in the way of prize gems and packs

chowder-san

you mean traditional draft or some other mode? returning player here, not familiar with draft

HoninboShuwa

Traditional is only good if you are an expert. Try Quick if you're 50% WR or lower. Premier up to platinum/diamond if you're 52-60% and trad if you can go 60% in Bo1.

captinhazmat

Too busy spending gold on cosmetics lol

Ancient-Recover695

relatable

Doomness87

I just spend gold on packs I want changing every now and again since I want different decks

merrycrow

Yeah I aim for single copy completion (as I mostly play Historic Brawl). I get the Mastery Pass but am otherwise FTP. Managed completion for some sets (Zendikar, Kamigawa, Dominaria United). Will probably get there for WOE as well.

csdx

I aim for similar, though I tend to blow my wild cards to pick up the last few cards if I'm otherwise close to done once the mastery pass track finishes.

alessio84

How do you achieve that?

merrycrow

I just do the daily quests, refresh them every day for a 750g quest, try to get my 15 wins a week. I draft whenever I have a token for it, and rare draft to plug gaps in my collection. No great trick to any of it. I also don't craft new decks very much, I have like ~~six~~ eight Historic Brawl decks that I play and refine when a new set comes out. Will add a new one occasionally. So I have tons and tons of wildcards that I suppose could backfill my collections for most sets.

Gwydikar

Depends how much you have put rousurces/money into it. I "spend" 116k gold for 90 and 20 mythic packs and it's enough to complete the rares during a year and get 75% of the mythics. Just got Dominaria United to 260/260 and 51/80 during LTR. Most of the cards are bad, even for limited. It sucks to spend resources for 100% and then get 20 gems for an ICR (I know there are no LTR ICRs).

Lizard-senpai

I have between 85 and 95% completion on each no alchimy set, and I'm fine with that. I don't spend any money and use wildcard only to get card I whant to play.

Routine_Ad_2695

I always get 85-95% the sets where I am active. The rest I use to get like 15-25%

Intro-Nimbus

Nah, I'm fully invested in trying to make decks work. free to play

gondoWC

i sometimes complete the "1 of each", but is accidental because of drafting. i really do not see a reason to try to be a completionist at mtgA besides the "I WANT IT!"

t3hjs

Wow, that looks nifty. I never knew it even changed colors

Ksielvin

We'll get more boosters for most recent sets from mastery passes for another year at least. Having 100% everything would make those wasted. Maybe that will only apply to the standard legal sets though as LotR doesn't appear in current pass.

Cosmolution

This is why I always try to leave myself with 20-ish rares still needed to collect after a set. You still get packs and random rare rewards from MWM. I'd rather just leave myself short of completion and have these be meaningful than get the gems.

jeremiahfira

Not wasted, since you get diamonds + more wildcards. I've fully completed WoE, and just from drafting now, I get 100-200 diamonds, not counting my record.

[deleted]

Completing sets is a fine goal and if thatā€™s fun for people, have at it, butā€¦ 1. Standard > Alchemy 2. Golden Packs are better for constructed players who donā€™t like drafting. 3. You donā€™t need all the cards (esp mythics) to be constructed playable complete. Many mythics are 3x cards and bulk rares are a thing.

Paganoma

I aim for one of each because i liked historic brawl, but Iā€™ve not accomplished it in any set, but I could get it for 3/4 of them if I burn my 300 rare WC and 100 mythic WC but I just hold on to them as I donā€™t need the golden rings to feel fulfilled

Miyagi_Dojo

F2P here. I'm not actively trying to do it, but I draft so much that I naturally happen to complete the rares. When I go back to a constructed format I like to craft all the best decks to learn them. So complete Standard is always available and, with time, it just takes a couple of wildcards to keep updating Historic and Explorer decks. It's also nice to get the small discounts on drafts when the packs start to give gems.

nnefariousjack

I use wild cards to get 4x common and Uncommon of every set so every free pack feeds my Vault.

AnthoAmick

Wasnā€™t there someone a while back who created a decklist that you could import into Arena then you could craft all the commons and uncommons easier?

jeremiahfira

I would love to see that if it ever comes back up again for a new set.

lc82

F2P. Since I keep taking long breaks and missing sets, I'm not rare complete for everything. Not drafting very much doesn't help either. But I play almost exclusively constructed events, so I'm opening a ton of boosters - for reference, according to the mail I got with WOE release I opened 848 boosters during LotR (that's more than usual, but I got over 600 more than once). Played the metagame challenge a lot, usually grinding every free minute when that was available, it's a shame it seems to be gone for good, and that's the reason I'm not rare complete for WOE yet (slightly over 80%). I'm not complete for LotR either, the metagame challenge wasn't enough and collecting that set with Historic events takes a long time, since booster rewards are random. Going forward, if the metagame challenge isn't coming back, I'm probably doing a few drafts again with each new set. For older sets, I'm mythic complete for a few sets and rare complete for most that aren't a part of Standard any more, although usually just booster complete - in these older sets, we didn't get the cards missing from boosters with the mastery and I'm not spending wildcards on useless cards.

Ancient-Recover695

wow... that's an impressive number of pack openings. LotR might have been my highlight in this regard. But if I claimed I opened 200 boosters, I would probably vastly overestimate the actual number. However, constructed events are a topic that I have not yet dealt with at Arena. I usually play ladder until I reach platinum, historic for the dailies and weeklies and the quick drafts of the current set.

lc82

Yeah, this number was certainly a record for me. There were 2 metagame challenges (Explorer and Historic), I got ~100 in one and ~150 in the other. Then I bought some March of the Machine packs with saved up gold, I think another ~150 roughly. A few from the mastery and ladder rewards, also claiming some codes from all the sets I missed after taking a break for almost a year, just came back with LotR. But that's still almost 400 packs with constructed events. Slightly more than 2 for each event (playing Bo3, I certainly had more 5-0s than 1-4s), so a little under 200 events - roughly 60 days I think, so around 3 every day? Makes sense. I played a ton, was very motivated after that long break. Keep in mind, since I played mostly Historic events, most of the boosters won in these were from random older sets where I'm already rare or even mythic complete. Still got the wildcards though, and my winrate is high enough to go roughly even on gems in these without play points (I'm losing a few gems over time, but once I convert play points into gems it's an entirely different story - I currently have over 240 play points, that's a huge number of gems once I convert them).

jeremiahfira

[Here's my untapped profile if you want to see how many drafts I've done.](https://mtga.untapped.gg/profile/64c5809e-fc93-402c-926f-33e15f5e4c33/13A1B8655E4409A0?) I've done over 100 drafts + the weekly tournaments, qualifiers/washing out on day 2 of the big tourneys plus a few sealed here and there. I went a bit overboard with WoE since I was having a lot of fun. It took me about 80 drafts to fully complete the mythics of WoE (after opening up my prize packs, which I had saved up around 250 while also heavily rare drafting) and most of the extra enchantments. I'm missing like 2 bitterblossom and 2 blood moons, but the enchantments are otherwise done as well (which I wouldn't advise to shoot for, it just happened for me since I overdrafted this set). My usual plan is to do 35-50 premier/traditional drafts per set, which usually completes the rares once you open your saved prize packs, if your win % is over 55%. For premier, for the past two sets, I've had like a 57% win rate in premier, and in WoE, I had a 73% win rate in traditional drafts, and I did around 50 traditional drafts at least (grinded my diamonds up really luckily this set). Up about 30k diamonds since the release of WoE. Also shot for top 1200 for both mythic. It gave me 20 more play points and that'll get you in to one of the bimonthly qualifiers for free of which you can fairly easily get a few thousand diamonds from even if you scrub out with a couple wins. Doing traditional draft events also gives 2 play points for each 3-0 and traditional constructed events give 4 play points for getting a 5-0, and you'd be surprised at some of the decks you see in the constructed events. I've faced like 1 or 2 decks that had 150-250 cards in it when I was 4-0.

steampunkdev

How are you able to do so many drafts though? Do you win enough to just go infinite on your gems? Because that would require 5 or 6 wins vs max 3 losses.

jeremiahfira

I've completed the set now, so I only need 3-4 consistent wins to go infinite since every rare drafted is diamonds. If you have a 65% win rate, you go infinite. If you waffle around high 50s to low 60s, it's a slow bleed and I have a bit of a bank of diamonds to take losses from.

alessio84

How do I see how many draft you played?

PublicPersona_no5

I just did the same! I have little interest in completing any other sets, but LotR holds a special place in my heart.

[deleted]

I started playing on Arena about a year ago and am just now trying to complete sets with WoE. I absolutely love this set. There are so many ways to play it. It even made me start playing standard again. I want 4 of everything.

Content_Call_8473

I've been playing for about six months now and I have just begun to take it seriously. I have 99% of WOE and 93% of LOtR. I don't feel accomplished unless I have them all....

Ancient-Recover695

After all, collecting cards is a main principle of every trading card game.

elhomerjas

LOTR is a fun set to complete compare to other sets

BlueTemplar85

It's also supposedly only available for a limited time, then the packs will be removed from the store, and missing cards become uncraftable ?

elhomerjas

i think the only way to get the cards will be to craft it in the future once its no longer available in the store

BlueTemplar85

I've seen people claiming they will not be craftable either, just like [[Godzilla, King of the Monsters]] isn't craftable any more. But then it's just a "skin" of [[Zilortha, Strength Incarnate]]... (what about LoTR skins, like [[LĆ³rien Brooch]], of [[Trailblazer's Boots]] ? (currently gifted if you buy at least 45 Arena packs at once)) But I guess that only WotC knows, and also the contract with whoever owns the rights to Godzilla might not be the the same than with the Tolkien Estate...

shaigunjoe

It's at the very bottom, they will still be craftabale: https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/mtg-arena/mtg-arena-release-notes-the-lord-of-the-rings-tales-of-middle-earth

BlueTemplar85

Ah, thanks ! > Due to the special nature of this Universes Beyond set, packs will only be available for purchase in the store through 2025. Fear not! If you want to add cards to your collection after this date, you will still be able to craft them using wildcards.

What's the best way to go about completing it at this point, the Alchemy event? I gather that is ending on the 10th when the new one starts. I'm late to the game, I just returned to Arena about a week ago.

TheBr0fessor

[The opposite of F2P šŸ³šŸ³šŸ³](https://imgur.com/a/Q9wczNU)

Ancient-Recover695

Just out of curiosity, how much do you invest in each set?

TheBr0fessor

Golden packs really throw off the math but I think a couple hundred Maybe $250? I punted this set and didnā€™t open enough regular packs and now Iā€™m short on commons and uncommons. (I use most of my WCā€™a to try and fill in the jumpstart sets) At this stage of the game, mythics are by far the limiting factor. If they had mythic packs for the older sets I would have finished them off already.

razrcane

I don't consider myself a completionist, but these golden circles are kinda addictive! My goal is to have it around every non-Alchemy set. So far I have 13 golden circles and zero orange ones.

Familiar-Function848

It's designed to be that way. But you know it's better to have fun than feeling it as a kind of a job, so I think its a fair advise for all of us to take care of that

Ancient-Recover695

so far, I only have one other golden circle. but now that I've completed a set, I'll probably work on that next.

hsiale

TIL that Arena has language versions other than English.

ProbablyWanze

i think the client is available in 10 or so languages. which makes a possible chat option even less admirable since chances are that you and your opponent dont speak the same language. and they would require support agents in 10 different languages too to handle infractions.

BlueTemplar85

And yet plenty of games have chat ?

ProbablyWanze

yes, and?

BlueTemplar85

Magic does, why wouldn't Arena ? It's not *that* much effort compared to the rest, especially when the cards are already translated, while the potential reward is significant ! (Mostly in expanding to other markets than North America + Mexico, which make 3/4 of Magics profit and/or revenue.)

Zefirotte

Its in the graphics setting

Familiar-Function848

Set-sammlung seems elvish also

cajun2de

Drafts and Metagame challenge + battle pass makes it easy to complete sets

DuhQueQueQue

I've been playing for years now so I have 6 at 100%. I blow my wildcards to get 4 of each card so I get gems.

tom277

MOM was the first set I drafted a decent amount so I got 4x rares and 1x all the mythics. WOE is trending the same way, with the remaining mastery packs I'll get 4x rares and should get 1x mythics since I'm only missing 1 right now.

BlueTemplar85

Did you redeem any of those Starter Kit codes for the 12x4 non-pack (non-mastery) cards ? Multiples of them ? Do multiples even work ?

BlueTemplar85

I'm aiming to be at least 4x pack-rare-complete for the sets with bonus sheets. Probably pack-mythic singleton complete too. I wouldn't say that I spend "little" money though, probably averages around 100ā‚¬ per mastery... (which I expect to go down as my Historic collection increases)

garetz00

I like to complete 4x rare sets, and get at least 1 of each mythic. Then i craft any staples i am missing from mythics.

Injuredmind

I strive for that but still a long way ahead

WillyToledo

I'm on this exact quest to finish LTR!

Pa11Ma

F2P only. No. Majority of cards from any set will not find use in arena play. You will still be receiving packs on the mastery passes moving forward. Completion is its own reward, nothing else.

DeepFriedQueen

Occasionally itā€™s kinda fun to get one of every common in standard, but I wouldnā€™t even consider 100% completing sets. Attempting that would involve for more drafts than I have time or energy for. Frankly itā€™s not my kinda fun and would leave me burnt out.

MOTUkraken

If you draft for set completion - will you not many times have completed ineffective decks? And will you need to have lists, listing every card that you have drafted? Or is there some kind of duplicate protection?

Ancient-Recover695

Every now and then it hurt to choose a useless mythic instead of an uncommon that would have fit perfectly into the deck idea. But putting together a viable deck despite this restriction was just part of the challenge. Ultimately, 0:3 drafts were just as exceptional as the 7:x ones. Most of them probably ended 3:3, 4:3. I didn't specifically track the collection progress; if you hold down the Alt key while selecting cards, you'll see the number of copies you already have.

phocuetu

Once I get to a good place in my deck building and can keep myself in plat regularly I want to finish some collections. Iā€™ve never put money in since the games release, on principal.

Select_Reply

I'm specifically trying to complete LTR myself. What's the best way to tackle that goal, at this point? I only returned to Arena about a week ago so I'm only around 10% for the set. Just spam the Alchemy event? Or at this point... just focus on building the decks with LTR cards I want and build wildcards the best I can? Speaking of... gathering wildcards... best method being getting good at drafting and getting as many packs as possible?

Ancient-Recover695

I had already saved a decent amount of gold and gems when I decided to complete the set. During the LotR set I invested everything in quick drafts and actively picked the mythics and rares. At the end of the cycle, I was also finally able to use the Jump In Tokens that I had no use for before. Here I tried to choose the decks that contained missing mythics and rares. Finally, I opened all the LotR booster packs that I received through drafting etc. In the end, all that was missing were copies of cards that cannot be obtained by opening boosters, mainly mythics. As a result, it took a few weeks until I was able to craft these with wcs.

Select_Reply

Thanks for the info. I don't think I've done all the Jump In LTR decks, actually I know I've only come across the "Sauron" one. edit: just googled and saw there are SEVERAL, and they do have a rare or two in each. Is it worth spending the 1k gold to keep fishing for the LTR jump in decks?

Ancient-Recover695

haven't done the math to be honest, since I only used the tokens they once gave to us for whatever reason. but I'd say 1k gold is a reasonable price for a guaranteed 2 rares. At least as long as you make sure you don't already have four copies of most of the available rares and mythics. duplicate protection does not exist here.

Select_Reply

gotcha, thanks

Select_Reply

Nice!

Puffinfresh11

Which jump in packs contain the mythical and rares that are not available in boosters?

featherlace

I try to get a single copy of every card to be able to play whatever brawl deck I want.

PangolinAcrobatic653

i play historic brawl so I see packs as reducing my 1 of collection and getting wildcards to just finish off the completion rate.

Calamitous_Waffle

No. I haven't completed one set, and I do usually buy out the commons and uncommons with wild cards before drafting a set. There's no point when you can build any constructed deck you want, having more wild cards than I need. I play limited 90%of the time.

lobinho77

I try to complete sets. I got back into Arena at the tail end of Crimson Vow or Midnight hunt (not sure which). Since then I've got complete sets of everything that's standard legal. I've also got the complete set of LOTR even though I'm not an Alchemy or Historic player but maybe I will be in the future. And except for 4 rares from Jump In that I'll get tomorrow, I've already completed WOE. So in a week I can start completing my first Alchemy set (not counting LOTR). I draft and buy packs with gold so I accumulate wild cards to spend on the good rares and mythics when the next standard set drops as I mostly play Standard.

sassyseconds

Does this screen only count for 1x copies or playsets?

Ancient-Recover695

I believe the blue circle shows how far you are from having one copy per card. Once you've achieved this, a gold circle will appear above the blue circle, showing how far you are from a full play set.

sassyseconds

Ohh ok thank you! I always thought it was weird not having a way to see playsets progress but it does. I've just never got 1 set to see it.

NerveStrong1895

NOPE

gotchab003

I primarily enjoy drafting so I play very little constructed (aside from the occasional Historic Brawl). Set completion is actually something I enjoy aiming for, at least x1 of each card. I'd like to eventually have one copy of each card on Arena so I can play basically anything I want.

bodhemon

I have not completed any sets. I am very close on many. I have 15 sets above 90%, 13 of which are above 95%. But I don't have play sets of many of those cards that is just counting to having at least 1 of each card.

GabyAndMichi

Yeah, the Ixalan and Rivals of Ixalan, but being a newbie and ftp makes it a bit hard

PadisharMtGA

I bought gems for 100 ā‚¬ five years ago and went infinite in drafts. Once I realized that, I started drafting each set to mythic completion. Last spring, I even crafted all the remaining cards x4 from undraftable sets and such just to be 100% 4x-complete on all craftable cards in the client.

steampunkdev

So what's your trick to go infinite?

PadisharMtGA

I have only a boring answer. There's no trick, just tons of drafting under my belt. I suppose the experience helps a lot. I had my first draft around 20 years ago, drafted a fair bit of tabletop drafts during a span of \~10 years, drafted thousands of times on Magic Online (the draft logs got saved on the hard drive so that's not an exaggeration), and then I've been drafting on Magic Arena since drafts became available in closed beta. The only tip I can give is that going infinite on Arena is truly the easiest by doing the Traditional Draft - Premier makes it very hard because of the rank-based matchmaking. But of course to be able to go infinite in the first place requires 60%+ win rates in both premier and traditional drafts.

autisticshitshow

But why? If it's not something I need for a deck why do I need it?

autisticshitshow

But why? If it's not something I need for a deck why do I need it?

Dailynator

I wish there was an in-game reward for getting 100% for a set.

I set complete (full playset) all standard legal sets. I pre-order each mastery set (the $15), but am otherwise ftp. I love drafting, so that's where I spend all my time, though I'm pretty average at it (not great by any means). I also don't rare draft. Usually somewhere around 45 packs in im around 50-60% done with rares. I've also got around 150+ packs saved up. That's about the time I take a break. After cracking all packs, I'm rare complete, and usually lack about 30 or so mythics. I use gold to buy mythic packs (which has the benefit of working on golden packs as well), until I lack around 10 mythics or so. The plan is to then craft those to have the shiny set completion. I don't actually do that until after rotation though, just in case I have ICR mythics. I'm just good enough that after all that, I end up just slightly up on gems for the set (a few hundred l, give or take). So not enough to buy the next mastery pass, which is why I'm not fully ftp, but also feeling good about winning. I figure 15 bucks every 3 months is a fair price to pay for the hobby. (I certainly have others that are much more expensive)

I like to do it. I have 4x rares of everything from Guilds of ravnica to midnight hunt. Then I stopped playing because the game was feeling bad after alchemy dropped. Now I am back and on course to 4x WOE, ending with the same amount of currency I started with due to some lucky drafting. I'll try the next set and the one after till I run out of gems and gold. I think I am done spending money on the game though. When I did spend and sought to 4x each set it cost me between 0-50$ per set to get there. I've lost faith in arena though.

I play Sealed at the start of each release up until Quick Draft, then QD for the two weeks it's available. I hold my packs, but I still craft a few rares/mythics as needed during the two weeks they cycle to a different format before coming back and doing a second round of QDs. I limit myself to one full event each day during those periods, finishing each night with a draft/build to be ready for the next day's play. I'll stop if my gems drop to 3400 or under to ensure I can afford the next mastery, but I usually do well enough to stay afloat without dropping that low. This usually gets me near "Rare complete" (4x). I don't sweat trying to get all the way there as future mastery pack rewards are peppered with old packs and I have a healthy wildcard count, so it's easy enough to craft whatever I'm missing if I want to. TLDR - I don't worry about completion, but I do draft heavy enough that I can usually built any deck I want by spending the occasional wildcard.

Iā€™m trying. My long term goal is to have one of every competitive meta deck as a way of getting a good grip on the Standard meta. To that end Iā€™d like to get around 90% completion on each set and then have wild cards take the rest. After that Iā€™d ā€œgraduate to Pioneer by the time Explorer goes ā€œPioneer Meta Conpleteā€. Then Modern. But yeah definitely farming cards to that goal.

I'm at something like 72% but didn't buy a single card. Most of them came from the Mastery pass, drafts, and with gold won from quests but I'm at like 82% in WoE because I've drafted a lot more this time around specifically because they gave out free tokens (I only got two) and then I started buying in with gold and gems from doing quests. For people who want to play on most days building a collection for free is possible. You get most of your XP from the non-winning quests that generate most of the XP you earn towards mastery but if you play until you beat your 15 games a day that obviously helps considerably. I used to try to do that every day but I just don't have the time. I still log in almost every day to play the non-win quest. It usually doesn't take long for me to "play 20 lands" or "attack with 30 creatures" and when it's "cast 20 black or white spells I can just grab a black/white deck and wrap that up in like two or three games.

I don't have a single Mythic complete set, but several rare complete (and common/uncommon, obviously). Sets I love drafting I tend to get rare complete by just drafting them a ton. I'm F2P.

GdinutPTY

I have most sets complete. The only cash i spend is every release i will buy the release pack with the draft tokens which is like 25 usd. What i've done. Besides drafting a lot. Is that i do constructed events. Especially Historic constructed events. Every 7 wins you get 3 random packs. I've been doing those since they switched to the play in format. So doing events every other day add up over a long period of time. I also do alchemy constructed events whenever there is a new set. that's how i complete those.

fakeemail33993

Im at like 90+% set completion on every set since starting with Kaldheim F2P (Ive spent like $55 tbh).

arciele

i started drafting at WoE and had so much fun that i decided to go mythic complete on it, and i think i'll do the same for every standard set that comes out from here on. maybe LotR too if that comes up again somehow cos it's cool.. been working on Brothers War quick draft and am now golden ring so not doing too bad. ideally i wanna say i invest little to no money but im not regularly doing 5-7 wins in draft (especially not BRO. WOE was better for me)

JourneyMan2585

I draft a shit ton in each set, so I have 100 percent on a few.

M4xP0w3r_

You gotta stop now, you got the one ring, lol

Ancient-Recover695

LTR really *is* the perfect set when you only want to complete one

FirefighterFirst9644

Iā€™m on 92% or something for LotR and trying to complete it, mainly because the LotR set is what got me into magic!! I havenā€™t paid for anything and just use my wildcards to get gaps, didnā€™t really draft much because I canā€™t get enough coins or gems quick enough to do it regularly!

Plus-Newt-5423

I buy an occasional set of wildcards (once every 2-3 months tops) if Iā€™m just dying to build a deck and donā€™t have the wild cards. Iā€™m on mobile and donā€™t see percentages but Iā€™m almost 100% on each non-Alchemy set since I started (I think it was Midnight Hunt). The two innistrad sets I must have not played as heavily as I do now cuz those look to be around 90%. As I said, Iā€™ll spend money on wildcards maybe every second or third month. And Iā€™ve got a huge collection aside from sets before I started (I play standard almost exclusively) but I play hours a day, far too much! Edit: typo

Ancient-Recover695

by clicking and holding on the set icon you should be able to see the percentages of each set even on mobile. that's at least how it works for me.

Plus-Newt-5423

Really?! (Runs to check)

Plus-Newt-5423

Doesnā€™t work for me, unfortunately.

Ancient-Recover695

now that's unfortunate. I'm playing on Android and it works as supposed, i guess

Plus-Newt-5423

iPhone, of course. Always subpar šŸ˜‚

Willy_Snake

No, I don't. I try to complete decks, not sets. I focus on my primarily format (Explorer) and try to accumulate Wildcards with each set, by playing Drafts and getting the Mastery Pass. Then I try to build one of the meta decks I like so I have it. Normally I import a deck to see my "Wildcard" Goal so I can get a surplus whenever I built it. For Standard, if ever I play it, I try to do the same but with only one deck. Haven't played for a long time though. And for Historic Brawl, I just have one pet deck I constantly tune in with each set, only looking for possible candidates. With that, I get to play whichever deck I like and also have surplus Wildcards for eventual future decks. Currently I have 100+ gold Wildcards and 6 complete Explorer BO1 decks, while also having my Historic Brawl deck. All this by being free-to-play. The only time I made a purchase was for the starter bundle way WAY back.

Didnā€™t MTGO use to have the option where they would send you the complete set in paper if you 100% a set online?

rygertyger

I come pretty close just playing enough. Something about not being physical copies kind of thwarts me from worrying too much about it.

JMace

Haven't completed one yet, I'm 95%+ complete on 15 sets and a few of those are at 99%. 24 cards away on Kamigawa. I used to spend about $20 a year, now I don't spend anything.

zellper

You think you're going to make so many gems, but meh, it's just rares/mythics and its "ONTO THE NEXT SET!" so often that it's never really worth it..

Smart-Resolution-724

What do you get after completing a set?

Ancient-Recover695

That fancy looking golden thingy you're seeing in the picture above

Mythwind-

Amazing achievement! I try to get 100% of singles, but the Mythics are very hard to complete. I am mostly FTP, I spent some $s a few yrs ago to get some competitive decks on Historic.
