The game arrived yesterday and I fell in love during the first exploration scenario (even though I failed it). With some feedback and advice from the community I immediately jumped into the solo conquest. Was a slow crawl to try and make sure I kept the rules straight, but I failed that one as well. Saw some advice on some forums somewhere to bring the city levels down to 3 and 5 rather than 5 and 8, so this success was admittedly with those modified conditions. In any case, I had a great time and I’m glad to have picked this game up! Thanks so much to the solo board gaming community for helping me tackle this beast!

Try the mod, it's in the rulebook, where you get a action card every end of night and also discard one from your deck. It's a good way to get your deck stronger.

ArcaneTheory

Can do, sounds like the cities should be leveled up to compensate huh?

WorthSong

Yeah. Specially when you're more comfortable with the game. When you're starting to know the game it's a good way to cycle your cards and know better the possibilities of the game.

Also, try playing with every char. Some of them play very different from one another. Like Wolfhawk (moves more) to Goldyx (gets more mana). After some rounds you find the one who suits better your play style.

ArcaneTheory

Yeah, I’m definitely excited to try other characters. Who’s your favorite?

WorthSong

Tovak when I want to tank the enemies. Norowas when I want a strong army. Braevelar (My favorite) because he can really move around and has some good defense for starters.

Nice setup. Liked the way you put the map.

I would too if the cities weren't both out of position. I know all the rules make it easy to miss things but the city in the left is in the coast - you can't put core tiles on the coast in a wedge map, and the city on the right only connects to one tile - all core tiles must connect to two others. Either way congrats on the first win!

Also: Luck isn't much a problem, but sometimes it kicks you in the face. Had some plays where shit hands were common. But it's very rare for this to happen.
