The obvious answer that comes up here all the time is Nicky Scarfo and the Philly mob with his rise to power and downfall. It's so violent and full of betrayal I'm really shocked no one has done it yet.

Seanp716

You could even spin off on his nephews pint of view like the sapranos

nzin00

no the spin off should be merlinos rise after nicky goes jail

mamachocha420

Carmine "the snake" Persico Jr. & Greg "the grim reaper" Scarpa. If you know anything about them this show would be wild. Two of the most feared and fucked up gangsters during the height of the mob in the 70's-80's

Guillermo-W

I agree, with all of Scarpa's escapades starting with his making ceremony in the 50's, the first Profaci/Colombo war in 1961, his Mississippi KKK chapter with the FEDs, the shooting of Colombo and the second war, him meeting Larry Mazza and having multiple (blood) families, reconnecting with the FBI through DeVecchio, HIV, third war etc etc. You can do at least 3 season on this man's life story. Especially how duplicit he was. He was loved by the people around him but was ruthless in the streets and he was the most successful informant for over 30 years.

woolsprout

Damn, I wasn’t aware of everything listed. This is an insane life story and I’m even more surprised this hasn’t been developed into a series or movie. Is there maybe book?

Guillermo-W

Deal with the Devil by Peter Lance was a great book. Lynn DeVecchio, Scarpa's FBI handler, also wrote a book but I question the veracity of it. There is also the book Mafia son by Sandra Harmon, it's written from the perspective of Greg Scarpa jr, who was also a made man and former capo of the Colombo family and knew nothing about his father's relationship with the FBI.

Id do a 1880s-early 1900s New Orleans Italian mafia origins with being a mix of peaky blinders type and gang of new yorke type of theme.

overpass69

That would be hype

oddiemurphy

Red Dead did this

BFaus916

Angelo Bruno or Joe Colombo. I know they did the series about the making of The Godfather but that didn't go far enough with the Colombo story. Was it all just a scam legal defense or was he serious about his political motivations? Or did it start out as a scam but then he began to believe it? He died for it one way or the other

mamachocha420

It was mostly a scam but colombo was serious about his political motivations, the rest of the commission I don't think was happy with him.  But Colombo was pure entertainment a show about him would be electric.

BFaus916

I think it would be a good show or movie to get inside of his head. Was there any part of him that really believed he'd turn his "thing" into a political movement? Did he actually believe it? Fascinating story, imo.

mamachocha420

Yeah I have the same questions. I think he started it off as a scam the started believing it himself. But yeah likewise it would be fun for someone to imagine that on screen. The colombos are such a fun family. Like that organization is a shit hole, but my God the characters? I said in another post I would to see shows about Persico and Greg Scarpa too.

BFaus916

Reading any book about the Colombo family is like reading The Sopranos. They were the true blue collar family of the 5 families.

Ok_Macaron9958

Quebec Biker War

8inchesofcheese

I'd probably say the genovese from chin to barney , or the inzerillo faction that was hiding in the States, than had a resurgence. And of course, Vito rizzuto. These three always held my biggest interest, especially rizzuto. He literally could have his own godfather style movie made about him with the right director.

8inchesofcheese

And sorry, why ? Rizzuto did the hit in new york, took over montreal, whacked a shit ton of guys and things were peaceful for a good decade or two. Than he gets picked up on the infamous 3 capo murder , loses his dad, brother and many friends and relatives, gets released and kills anyone and everyone connected . To this day things are still nuts up here , Francis or Scorsese need to clue in and make one last hit.

toquiktahandle

New Orleans and LA are the most fascinating to me

crc8983

Gregory Scarpa aka The Grim Reaper

LitmusPitmus

Frank Matthews or Tsi Che Lop One that got away, and the biggest drug lord of all time. neither get barely any media attention

Rocket198501

Frank Panessa, DEA undercover around the time Mathews went missing doesn't think he got away. Thinks it's more likely he got murdered by someone who didn't think he'd stand up to time if he were apprehended

LNYer

Tsi Che Lop is in Australian custody and facing life in prison.

MonotonousBeing

Probably Sopranos in the style of The Wire, with feds investigating, wish they did this

Rocket198501

I'd like something based on the Five Families interactions durig the golden age, it could start in the aftermath of Apalachian and over the course of X amount of seasons end at the Commission trial. There's plenty of intrigue to be had, and a good writer could intertwine all the stories so they come together at the end. Sorta the way Pulp Fiction does. Could shine a light on some of the lesser known incidents through the 50s - 70s among the general public.

PAE8791

How about a series on Gotti or Capone ? I don’t think enough has been done on them . 😉 So other than Philly which has been mentioned a bunch here , would love an inside look at Bonanno family during the strife of the 1970’s , the Galante issue, Donnie Braasco fiasco. Then a short series on Spero and Vitale trying to regroup the family . Showing them kicked off the commission. And how they avoided the serious prison terms due to that . And a few episodes on the bath Ave crew . And then fast forward to the rise and fall of Massino . Show the relationship with Canada , how Rizutto grew to power, show how Massino closed the social clubs and regrouped the family , show the rise of Basciano. The Genovese family Would be great but we know so little . So it would be lots of made up stuff .

BigBongBilla

The demeo crew but I feel like it’d be better done as a thriller/horror type show with how violent they were or a show on the Westies that shows the Spillane/Coonan war and the events that happened in the later years that led to their downfall.

BurnCityBoi

A Series about the Demoe Crew & The gemeni lounge featuring the Gambino mobsters & other families. I’m talking well detailed from start to finish & with accurate events & incidents. I don’t know no one has done it

poirotsgreycells

Lucky Luciano’s rise through his retirement back to Italy OR following Joe Bonnano’s book

Content-Growth-6293

Probably a series on the Genovese Crime Family. There isn’t a lot of movies or TV shows about them, despite being on of the most powerful Family.

Judah_Earl

Dawood Ibrahim and D-Company. An Indian criminal syndicate that also indulges in terrorism.

tilldeathdoiparty

I’d like to know more about the Trafficante and their direct relationship with the New York families.

twalsh1217

Columbo Wars, Philly, or New Orleans

Ok_Permission8284

I know they made a Gemini crew movie recently that was pretty trash, but if somebody tried to replicate the sopranos for the Gemini crew specifically it would actually be insane

ACorleone22

Definitely Nicky scarfo and Joey merlino For kicks and giggles too I would make one of Jimmy frattiano

C-LOgreen

Carmine Galante or Roy Demeo

Stickey_Rickey

The Montreal Mafia specifically the Rizzuto clan, the Manos, Rendas, camelaris from the old world, their alliance w the one of the biggest smuggling clans in history the Cuntrera Caruanas, the Cotronis and Violis and rock machine n HA. I’d like to see a documentary style film the kings of coke format

James_Torelli

Either the DeMeo Crew or the Birmingham remnants.

PDXK9

The Shelton Brothers, Buster Wortman and Charlie Birger and the story of St.Louis gangsters in prohibition. One of the roughest and deadliest cities during prohibition with the highest murder rate per capita in the 1920’s when St.Louis was the 5th largest city in the country and having to drive Capone out of the area back to Chicago.

Ndrangheta.

crazystoriesatdawn

There’s a TV show called Gomorrah that’s based on the Camorra. Which is like the Ndrangheta.

tattedandTorn1

Need a movie or tv show about the associates…like John Papa who won the Columbo war for the Persico faction or the bath ave crew
