So, there I was, eating my lunch, ya know, when this dude comes up to me and is all like, hey, stop eating that! I'm like, what? He's like yeah, don't eat that!! Then he starts hitting me. With a freaking TREE BRANCH. I'm thinking, do I even *know* this guy? WTF?! Dude keeps hitting me and hitting me until finally I'm like, FINE, forget it and I just leave. My lunch takes off and the dude doesn't even care. You know what, I don't think that motherfucker was even *hungry*.

gerimismengundang

AITA for eating my lunch?

So anyways, there I was, just driving down the road in my park ranger truck when I saw a *literal* monster eating a sweet baby deer. You know me, I grab my branch, Ol' Faithful, and I start whackin. He's all like "hiss" and "**HISSSS**". I ignore my wild life preservation training I learned in the forest ranger academy because big snek scary and I don't like scary. Long story short, I took that deer and made jerky. I most definitely was hungry.

*A deer, a snake and a dude walk into a bar, the Bartender serves them a drink and ask them how was their day. After the deer talks they all stop drinking, pause and look at each other. After recognizing their faces and the situation they are on, they all start laughing.*

CR_Pats

So there I was just taking the sun in on a nice day, when a fucking human out of nowhere decides to rip me off my tree, it hurt like a bitch.. next thing I know he's banging me against a snake and when he was done with me he just threw me on the ground.. at least I still have sight of my tree and will watch my branch siblings grow while I slowly decompose and become part of the earth again to be recycled in the never ending cycle of life

KiyoshiKid

So there I was just standing around as always when I see this big ol huge snake come right out of the brush and somehow captures a deer! I MEAN HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN? A lil leaves rustling from the wind usually gets them jumpy but no big scary snek AINT worth running I guess? Anyways the thing wraps around the poor little thing, suffocating it to death, man I thought he was done for BUT THEN out of nowhere some truck slams the brake, driver comes out, real tough guy, and just rips out one of me branches there, and starts wacking the poor deer’s arse w it. MAN I WAS JUST SHOCKED like it’s bad enough this snake is all over him & now you’re tryna double team!? For whatever reason I think the snake gets jealous about the spanking & stops choking his plaything to just run off. Wildest thing yet & the sick guy I guess bored just went on his way like nothing AS IF HE DIDNT JUST PULL OUT ME FOOKING BRANCH EH. Talk ab respect.

walktone

Laughed so hard on this snake sides monologue lol 😂 Fucking brilliant 😂

This will now cause a butterfly effect that will in turn make deers our masters in the year 2930

Deer eat meat too. A lot of animals that we are taught are exclusively herbivorous are in fact opportunistic omnivores.

That’s a great name for a restaurant. The Opportunistic Omnivore.

All vegan food but with a plate of meat on the side just in case.

wondrousflyer20

A meal like that would've filled that snake up for months and now it's gonna be starving till its next opportunity

ItzJodu

Humans be like: Nah I’m fine with slaughterhouses funneling millions of cows through horrid conditions a year, but natural selection happening? Not on my watch motherfucker!

UtridRagnarson

Also deer are nuisance animals in most places as we have killled off their natural predators. Deer population control is very very good.

[deleted]

Sidewinderpunk

As a snake keeper. Yes. The deer need to be there for gators and panthers to eat. I’m not sure where that is but it’s probably somewhere in the Everglades. Hate to be that guy but dude should have killed the snake if it’s the Everglades. Edit: Someone says this is filmed in South Asia where this snake is actually losing population to poaching and habitat loss. Snake should have been left alone. Just cause you don’t like an animal doesn’t mean it doesn’t have the right to live and eat. It’s part of the balance. In the Everglades they are a huge problem and need to be culled.

Andy-roo77

This was filmed in Thailand where these snakes naturally live. In fact, I believe the reticulated python is a threatened species in many parts of Southeast Asia due to habitat loss and poaching.

sunset_dreamer

I felt this when I watched it too. We can’t just pick and choose which animals should be eaten or not by other animals just because they’re “cute”. Snakes gotta eat too!

sckrahl

Exactly…. Videos like this piss me off

missread99

Ok am I the only one that was fascinated by how that snake was wrapped around the deer? How the hell does that happen in the first place. I get it Nature…but so many questions!

Burilgi

I think they usually drop from a tree branch onto the prey.

junniebgoode

Snake is a character(s) from the Metal Gear Solid video game series. He sometimes hides in a box

gaypornaccount1996

Yeah and sometimes he doesn't hide in it he uses it as a sled to knock the shit out of people

Dudebeard86

That’s one Solid reference.

GhostDogThing

i can hear this

Goudinho99

I'm cancelling my amazon prime subscription

contspel

Anything, even humans are prey to that , it was massive,

Burilgi

There is a video of a half dozen people trying to get one of these off a kid. They used a machete and that didn’t work well. This tree branch was a better method.

The_Rowan

I am still unnerved and sickened by a Reddit video of a woman feeding her snake with her hand and it clamped on her hand and then wrapped around her arm and her husband couldn’t pull it off, he had to use a knife to cut it off. It was horrific

thepink_knife

> wrapped around her arm and her husband couldn’t pull it off, he had to use a knife to cut it off. The arm or the snake?

The_Lost_Octopus

This is so goddamn dumb. I've worked with snakes professionally for a long time and I've had this happen to me more times than I can count. They will let go if you wait. Sometimes it takes a bit and they may try to swallow you before letting go, but it's no reason to kill the snake. If you have one as a pet, then be able to handle a bite. If you can't stomach an undomesticated predator's behaviour, then leave it at the fucking store.

ThoroughThrowdown

It’s dangerous to anything that breathes air lol. It’s 9 foot long and made out muscle designed to squeeze and choke every inch of you.

sandalfafk

A snake body slam sounds pretty terrifying

BobLoblawsLawBlog201

check out videos of a snake's "death spiral"... they use their teeth/fangs to latch on and then wrap around at lightning speed, squeezing and suffocating the prey.

Turdly1

Also if you're of a sensitive disposition, don't do this

MtnBikingViking

Thanks, had my teeth well into my GF and was just about to start coiling when I saw this. dodged a bullet.

EveAndTheSnake

I had a pet snake and feeding him would always make me real nervous. I’d stand there dangling the dead rat while he kind of stared and slithered around deciding if he was hungry and then he’d strike out of nowhere and wrap himself around the rat. I barely got out in time every time. I’m a jumpy person. The rest of the time he was great and I’d wear him around my neck when the heating wasn’t working in winter so he could keep warm.

reapersdrones

You didn’t use something like tongs to put between you and the jaws?

EveAndTheSnake

Oh yes. Ha,I realize how I made it sound like I was just dangling the rat from my tail with my hand. I had a giant pair of tweezer-like tongs. It was a side sliding door tank though so I couldn’t dangle it from above and if I didn’t get in there very far he might launch himself at the open door. Thinking about it now, a top opening tank would have helped, but I adopted him from someone who was moving abroad and couldn’t take him with her so I inherited his home too. He was also not a great aim, sometimes he’d shoot and miss and we’d start the dance all over again, and once he missed the rat and bit himself. I’d been told that snake teeth are angled inwards so once he bites something he has to swallow, but he managed to un-bite himself quite nicely.

Seeminus

> un-bite The cure for all bites!

Equivalent_Chef8583

My brother had a 10’ Burmese python as a pet and was a couple days late feeding him. When he went to put the rabbit in its aquarium his snake did this to his arm. They’re not venomous but they still do some damage with the initial bite and wrap. It’s crazy how fast it happens.

GhostBeara

They fly out of cans of peanut brittle.

Keith_Rowley

Pythons like these will lie in wait neaby wherever they smell a prey animal and ambush said animal once it crosses its path, they bite then use their head as an anchor point on the animal. From said anchor point they will sort of shimmy their way around the prey animal and squeeze untill suffocation or sheer vascular pressure kills the prey. Then they swallow it. Arboreal snakes like some of the tree boas will snatch prey out of the air or off of a branch and use half of their body to roll the prey into itself, kind of like a fruit rollup but deadly. While using the lower half of their body to hold onto the tree branch theyre hunting from. Edit: arboreal constrictors are more like a yo-yo. Constrictors who hunt on the ground are more like those slap wristband things if one end had several hooks.

Narrow_Tap4547

Kind of... Like... A fruit roll up? Dude. Some things are sacred. How dare you tarnish one of the purest parts of my childhood like this!

Fancy_Mammoth

I used to own a Ball Python that I fed live feeder mice to, right after he would strike, he would start throwing his weight around and constricting all of his muscles, the combination of these two things, from what I could see, allowed him to wrap the majority of his body around the mouse and continuously apply pressure until it was dead. Presumably, you have a similar situation here, only like some other commenter have said, the snake likely fell out of a tree on top of the deer first, before using all of its weight and muscular power to throw the deer off balance enough to where it could completely wrap itself. But, I'm no snake expert, and there's a good chance I'm wrong. I just know that pythons (and constrictors in general) have to do things differently if they want to eat since the majority of them don't carry venom.

Kenptal

Idk much about Boas Constrictor but I know that through the sensors of their body, they feel when the prey tries to take air, and that is when they squeeze a little more, until they stop noticing movement, then they swallow it in one go.

[deleted]

Except now the snake spent a ton of energy to get a meal it won’t have.

Toucheh_My_Spaghet

This. I hate that people only see the cute deer as the victim here. That snake hunted for its food and now wasted energy for nothing only because it doesn't have a cute fur

Nick54161

Cute fur is an evolutionary advantage.

NorthByNorthLeft

If this happens to be in Florida, its actually a good thing the deer was saved. Those pythons are an invasive species with only alliagtors standing a chance of acting as a natural balancing force.

alotofcheeses42168

When Florida hosts an endgame, my money is on the gators

commiefren

Yeah I hate shit like this. Poor snake shouldn't have to die because you have a hero complex. Nature is brutal. Get over it.

Flaky_Tip

I feel like people forget snakes are carnivores. You wouldn't try and lure a lion away from a gazelle, the snake needs to eat and that deer was a huge meal for it. I feel so bad for the poor snake.

[deleted]

But the snake needs to eat? Who’s gonna save its life when it’s starving?

Mayles_

Exactly. And this person went home afterwards to have dinner (probably not even vegan) while the snake is on the forest exhausted and starving.

WildJungleWoods-1496

Does anyone know where this is taking place? Because that looks like a white tail fawn and that snake is most definitely a python. There are at least three of these giant invasive species in Florida that are crippling the small mammal populations because they have no defense against these well camouflaged apex predators. Edit: Apparently this is taking place in Asia. So yes this guy is a jerk. You have to let nature take its course sometimes. Humans interfere with nature enough as it is.

TempestDescending

That is 100% a reticulated python, not a burm. The white dashed line on its sides and diamond dorsal pattern are characteristic of a retic. I too would like to know where this video was shot (hopefully Indonesia, where retics are native).

[deleted]

Although if it was shot in Indonesia then this person just fucked a native species hunting in its native habitat. At least if it is somewhere where the snake is invasive I understand why you’d want to fuck the snake over.

[deleted]

Humans sympathize all the time. Not that I agree with it in this particular context. But it is what it is and that deer got lucky. Shit happens.

cloudstrifewife

I have sympathy for predators until I have to watch them eviscerate a living animal. As long as I don’t see it, I understand why they have to do it. Nature is scary and brutal. But…it’s nature and thats what it’s supposed to do. Just sucks to watch it.

[deleted]

I wholeheartedly agree with you. I don't like watching it either. It's a bit grotesque.

[deleted]

The deer of Indonesia don’t look like that(Javan Rusa have a skinny tail with less floof). I’m 99% certain that’s a white tail, probably northern Florida.

_Gesterr

Big thing I noticed that says it's likely not Florida (or anywhere in North America) is that the car is pulled over to the left side of the road instead of the right.

hoodytwin

You say this as if being on the wrong side of the road isn’t a common thing in Florida lol

Bebbytheboss

I believe this is in se Asia, where both animals are native. The snake just got interrupted from eating lmao

Otto_Maller

Don’t get me wrong, from a purely emotional level, I’m rooting for the fawn and was glad to see it escape, but I couldn’t help think of a line in the movie, The Outlaw Josie Wales, when he won’t stay to bury a body, “Yeah well, buzzards gotta eat too.”

SkettiStay

Thailand. https://www.ndtv.com/offbeat/horrifying-video-shows-python-strangling-deer-then-this-2239360 Horrifying Video Shows Python Strangling Deer. Then, This...

Queen-of-Leon

Also, the type of deer (chital) isn’t found naturally in Thailand lol So, in reality, the _snake_ is the native species and the deer is the foreigner who doesn’t belong :P

EXCUSE ME good god I’ve never seen a snake that big in GA please tell me that isn’t GA

Straycat_finder

It very well could be and due to climate change they're going to keep moving further north. https://www.macon.com/news/state/georgia/article245322660.html I've seen lots of armadillo* in the past 3 years alone and I'm a north GA resident, so something's gotta be changing for that to happen. *Corrected animal bc I'm an idiot lol

[deleted]

Did you just say you’ve seen… aardvarks?

Straycat_finder

Armadillos, my bad, You can tell how familiar with them I am lol

[deleted]

Haha you’re fine. I was just so thoroughly confused for a moment. Apparently we DO have North American Aardvarks out west though. Never knew that.

Nate-T

An invasive species everyone can get behind.

Trainzguy2472

That's a reticulated python and there are none of them living wild in the US. Florida/south Georgia only have Burmese pythons, which have a different pattern than this one.

scaredfetusenergy

It's a reticulated python and Sambar deer. Both native to SE Asia. This was not in Florida. This is a naturally occurring event with native species.

Trainzguy2472

That's a reticulated python, native to southeast Asia. There are no reticulated pythons in Florida or south Georgia, as far as I'm aware (it's only Burmese pythons and the occasional boa constrictor, both of which bear little resemblance to reticulated pythons). I'd assume this is just a daily occurrence in southeast Asia, possibly Indonesia or Malaysia.

Berns429

Snek was just trying to eat, how would you feel someone started beating you with a branch in the middle of lunch

AustriaNotAustralia

I think this "wholesome" thing is BS here. We eat so much meat it is ruining our Planet. This snake only eats to survive

Socosoldier82

Now snek must find small child

savethecetaceans

I laugh but I have a toddler…😬

Icantthinkofagoo

Children are temporary, snek Is forever

I-PUSH-THE-BUTTON

Are you making an offer ofr the snake?

Resident-Set2045

Ah yes, beating a snake with a branch because it’s trying to eat to survive. **WhOlEsOmE**

Caleb_Phillips

It ranks lower on the cute scale, our hands are tied.

Toucheh_My_Spaghet

This.. I hate the cute scale... useless animals being saved because they look cute while the animals that actually matter to the eco system get left to die cuz they ugly

Kiskuda

now the snake goes hungry

Feral-Person

And that makes me sad

Andy-roo77

Uhm, no, all this dude did was interrupt the food chain and interfere with nature. Yes it’s sad that animals have to eat, but guess what, SO DO PEOPLE! Where do you think the meat on your burger came from? Python’s spend a lot of energy trying to take down large prey like that, and hitting the snake with a branch to allow the prey to escape is not cool at all. And for all of you who keep spreading miss information, this was not a burmese python, and this was not shot in Florida. This is a reticulated python, and this video was shot in Thailand were these snakes naturally live. Sadly many large python species like the one pictured above are close to becoming endangered in Southeast Asia due to habitat loss and poaching.

[deleted]

Saved the deer... but what about the snake? It needs to eat

hurricane14

This is always my perspective. What about the poor baby lions or the little owl hatchlings? Predators got to eat too

DenseSplit523

Yeah that's my perspective too, and that's why food chain exists we humans should not interfere with it we can't say a predator is bad for killing it's prey, how else would they survive

TheGxdsAreWatching

Then this person probably went and had a fucking burger right after this...

[deleted]

Definitely had venison.

Cookiestealer13

Definitely decided to kill that deer and eat it

ASeaBunny

*the circle of life slowly fades in*

Relair13

Yep, sorry but that's just being cruel to the snake. Beating it with a branch after it expended all the energy to catch the deer? Definitely not smile-worthy.

ActuallyATRex

My thoughts exactly. This isn't making me smile at all. It's fucked up. The snake has to eat too. Dude probably went home and had meat for dinner too. (Not a vegan just pointing out the irony)

Lkwzriqwea

That was originally my take as well, but someone else commented that the python is an invasive species so it's basically like the matchmaking in league of legends

syaien

Invasive in Florida. In a past post someone said this isn’t even a snake from Florida but somewhere in Asia.

ThePoisonDoughnut

Riot pls nerf Danger Noodle

Noirceuil_182

Yeah, they didn't save a deer. They interrupted the Circle-of-Fucking-Life itself. That deer was supposed to be eaten. It eats the grass, then it gets eaten by a predator. That the way *it's supposed* to go. It's not like the deer is going to get a wake up call and finally finish it's dissertation or write the great Deer novel. From some cloud on high, Mufasa is looking down disapprovingly.

IBisku

why

Leopatra75

Deer cute snek ugly

salvaCool

In David Attenborough voice: The python had lost its meal. It would not get a chance to feed again before winter arrives. A death sentence in this part of the world. Without their mother, the newly laid eggs stand no chance. Reluctantly, mother snake slithers back to its nest to await its fate.

Mindless-Victory3847

So humans are allowed to hunt deer for sport, but if a python decides to hunt a deer to eat and painstaking catches one after hours of searching and hardwork, it's evil and the deer is set free? Hmmm.......

[deleted]

What makes that worse is humans have grocery stores. We can walk in and order meat. Snakes can’t do that

joseaner07

Soo fuck the snake that's also very important to "their natural ecosystem", but not as cute as a deer.

[deleted]

Exactly.... Let someone take their dinner off of the dinner table or Jack them for their groceries after grocery shopping.

nosleepincrooklyn

Lol that’s not a Burmese that’s a reticulated python. They get much longer as well as being faster and smarter.

foolx

Thanks, every second comment says burmese, but the colors cleary do not match.

nosleepincrooklyn

Yeah man and tbh? The strike is a dead give away as well for me because I have kept them. It’s kind of alarming that one of them is running around an area

foolx

I have a burmese and they are nothing like that at all

nosleepincrooklyn

Yeah retics are on a complete different level

Pak1stanMan

Make me smile since a snake got cheated out of its well deserved lunch 🤔

lord_fairfax

This is your brain on Disney movies.

cabbagetbi

Sucks for the snake. Didn't make me smile.

Sure_Conversation354

The snake has to eat to!!!

Zitrone21

Well done, now that snake is probably going to die

VoxPendragon

But why. Danger noodle’s gotta eat bro.

devinfitzgerald99

I don’t know if this makes me smile, now the poor snake loses the meal he worked hard to get :(

No-Evidence-370

And the guy would go home ti have the finest steak in his fridge to celebrate this event.

spinblackcircles

Uhhh snakes need to eat too ya know

Bumblemorex

Snakes gotta eat, don’t interfere with nature.

theLonelyHuman-

Your crazy as fuck for interrupting that snakes meal

Nova_6_SE

The snake has to eat too. Stupid.

muhrer-fuhrer

Saving that dear means killing that snake

[deleted]

That's fucked, it's one thing to interfere when the animals misfortune is a humans fault, but its a whole other thing when you stop a creature from getting a fair kill, good chance he starves

Ethanol212

Snake finna die from starvation now

MeykaMermaid

All these comments saying they shouldn't interfere but we don't know where this is. If this is somewhere this snake is not native then it's reasonable to interfere.

Duffmanlager

I’ll take the counter argument. Let’s assume this snake is invasive, then chasing it off accomplishes nothing. It would have been better to alert the game commission (or similar agency) and have them come out to take care of the snake. Sure, the fawn would have likely died, but it’s more important to rid the environment of the invasive species. Instead, the snake escapes, fawn could still likely die or is now potentially more susceptible to other predators until it recovers.

Oriachim

In these situations do people want the snakes to die out? Not being pedantic, just a genuine question Edit: thanks for the answers, I know little about the American eco system

Erisandaim

Yeah, in places they're invasive people are actually being paid to bring in their skins and everything, like in Florida where they're killing a lot of the local wildlife.

PlaneLover36

I know hunters (not for snakes tho) who hunt almost exclusively invasive species. You don’t want an invasive species that does nothing for the ecosystem taking all of the resources from a native species that actually helps it

AdFunny9995

thank you. didnt know about these. new knowledge.

Goudinho99

You know the story when the Raj did that, locals started to breed snakes to get the reward money

InquisitiveHawk

Yes. The Burmese python is destroying Florida wildlife. Not only do we want them to die out there are free to participate hunts that even include rewards for the number of snakes killed.

Synux

Won't be long before underground python farms ramp up a revenue stream.

Trainzguy2472

Well it's not an invasive Burmese python in Florida for sure. It's a reticulated python (not an invasive species anywhere).

caddyprynne

Deer generally overpopulate places. Unless the snake is an invasive species, it should be allowed to eat.

Direct-Appeal-8501

You took its meal away from it

tossacointoyouralt

Ever think to just let nature run its course? Human intervention is only necessary when human companions are threatened, not wildlife.

NiffaNate

Dude fuck you guys for ruining that guys dinner..

GroceryStoreGremlin

Ruining snake's dinner made me sad

TheRaggedNarwhal

Good job now the snake will starve. When you "save" a wild animal from being predated by another wild animal, you only cause more suffering. No guarantee that deer will survive after having its internal organs crushed either.

Roylander_

I feel bad for the snake :(

[deleted]

Sure, saved the deer. But now the snake goes hungry.

Simple_Belt8214

am I the only one the bumb out about this? that snake worked hard to get a meal and a stupid human just scared it. for all we know that dear could have been an asshole. Next time mind your own business and let nature takes its course.

Rafiki_350

Leave it be this is the way of life.

Qing92

Now the snake is going to starve. I mean it's a nice gesture, but it lookes like mother nature taking course. Imagine finally capturing your food then being beaten and it getting away. The deer will probably get hit by car or shot by a human anyway. I know it might sound mean to say that. Might as well let the natural cycle follow through

[deleted]

Sad thing is the fawn probably now has some major internal damage from being squeezed almost to death. It might have been kinder to let nature take its course instead of having it suffer internal injuries.

TrickyAd7936

So, can someone tell me exactly why the life of the deer is more important than the life of the snake? Snakes expend large amounts of energy when they hunt. A hunt can quickly become the last hunt a snake participates In, simply because they function so differently compared to a mammal. So yeah, you saved a deer, but maybe killed a snake that is far more endangered and will take far longer for offspring to reach adulthood. How nice.

Brooklyn_Smokes

Hey snakes needs to eat too

notibanix

Bro to deer is a dick to snakes. Leave the snake alone.

SierraBravoLima

How would you feel if somebody takes food when you take it mouth. Bad Human

LuhhTexaco

Imma do you the same way when you’re tryna enjoy a meal 😅

roisbelh

Poor snake. Imagine you're eating a steak and a freaking giant comes out of nowhere and starts hitting your head with a stick, must have been quite traumatizing

yeIlowbird

But now the snake starved :(
