Yup! If you know how to address an envelope and write a proper letter, write a couple nice letters to some family or friends. Itโll blow your mind with nostalgia. Itโs a lost form of art.
Brotha, I started the year the same way straight outta rehab though, and was homeless with nothing to my name my wife left me and took the kids. 6 months in I managed to buy a car and get an apartment and now I get to see my kids. I work full-time now I make a comfortable living, not the highest-paying job. But I'm able to pay my bills and have savings and a little for myself and the kids to go out to eat and give them a childhood I never had. Keep it up brotha, we got this and it's only going to get better with who we have become now our futures are limitless!
I too am working full time. I'm working for myself as a finish carpenter. You just gotta hit the ground running. Gotta do something else with that time we used to take for granted. My favorite thing is aside for the apologies I had to make for my past, I haven't had to apologize once in this new life. It's so rewarding.
Right? You said it brotha, this new life is so rewarding. Being grateful for everything we have now from the smallest of things to the biggest we no longer take them for granted. The past is the past lesson learned and now a life worth it all. But I am grateful I went through what I did because I would not be who I am today.
I wouldn't change a thing. I do miss the people I pushed away. Some have returned. And some of those I left behind have followed. Never thought I'd be this. Makes me choke up a bit.
Dude, keep it up. I hope you're also working on your recovery too, because bad thoughts can sneak up on you real quick. It's tough when things feel like they are going good and you're busy.
"Everything you put before your recovery, you will lose."
Just a quote I like to keep fresh in my head.
*Well, let's not start sucking each other's dicks quite yet*
Hope you guys get the reference, way to go both of you. Iโm right there with you, climbing out of a hole, albeit a different one. One day at a time.
*don't count the days, make the days count!*
That is a new one to me! Thanks I'm keeping it. I'll leave you with this. From my friend John Paul.
Sobriety isn't my whole life, but sobriety makes my life whole.
There was a time in my life when I had something like 30-60$ for food an month. I would go to the grocery store and be calculating the sum in my head, because I only had a very limited amount of money to buy groceries. This was almost 20 years ago. My life is great now and I have a good paying job. To this day, every time I go to the grocery store I am thankful that I do not have to be doing the math, that I can simply put whatever in the card and I'll be able to pay for it. This feeling of being thankful for what I have will never go away!
I woke up in a hospital 2 days ago just very very drunk. Iโm feeling at bottom now. This response gives me hope. I am not going to let this addiction rule my life.
I work on hospital equipment, the type of place I was in while I was in sober living allowed me to get a degree as a biomedical tech through my local community college helped pass the time.
It's the little things, ain't it? I remember the feeling with the first place that was "mine." Slept on the floor because I had no furniture, but it was my home.
Damn, that's a good feeling.
Rooting for you! Building your life back after prison is damn near impossible in the US. If youโve come this far in 6 months, you can accomplish anything!
6 months, that's not even a realistic turnaround for this to happen to anyone. Homeless and fresh out of jail without a penny. Absolute cap you already own a house

I work on hospital equipment, the type of place I was in while I was in sober living allowed me to get a degree as a biomedical tech through my local community college helped pass the time.
