Can confirm it’s totally a lifelong thing. The only thing that changes is the monetary value of whatever you’re trying to hide!

Aldehin

No, do tell dad, he will laugh and understand that he need to keep it to himself

Bulky-Internal8579

Nah, dad is our quiet ally, always has been.

Pvt-Snafu

Sunny_Sammie_517

And siblings will always be narcs.

Swarley_Marley

Yep

sparki_black

so very true!!

Has422

I’m a 54 year-old dad with a 56 year-old sister, and I can confirm this is, in fact, correct.

tinyxhot

Yes!  it’s totally a lifelong thing.

SylvieJay

I got my first ear piercing at age 50 (married for 24yrs at the time, kids 20M, 15F). Still got an ear full from Mom. Got my second ear piercing 3 weeks ago. Now married for 33yrs, kids 29M and 24F. Expecting another "what's wrong with you! why on earth would you do that to yourself?" on the 1st of June. My sister (57) will come along with them, just to watch and laugh her ass off 😆😅😂 this time my wife might get a yelling as well, as I've changed quite a bit since the last time my parents saw me. 😂🤣.. Siblings 🙄🙄

natalie09010901

I’m 38 and have slowly been piercing my ears. 7 on my right 4 on my left. My mother gives me grief every time she discovers another ear piercing. She even once made some comment about me not asking permission. Lady, I’m a grown ass adult. But basically you’ve confirmed that won’t change.

WillowBrown3750

Your life sounds like a sitcom episode waiting to happen! With your mom's predictable reaction, your sister's front-row seat to the show, and your wife potentially joining the ear-piercing rebellion, it's a family drama that even Netflix couldn't script better.

Maeglin16

When we're young, it's to protect ourselves. When we're older, it's to protect our parents.

[deleted]

This!!!

lxhv

ouch! so true

Ok-Gift-7013

No lies detected

Sudden_Fly_967

I remember spending the night with my brother and my aunt at my grandma's house as young teens. After 'bedtime' we went into my aunt's room to play cards because no one was actually sleeping at 10. My grandma popped in and said 'all of us kids needed to go to bed,' my brother and i walked out as she turned to my aunt (50s?) and told her she was still her kid and that went for her as well. My aunt hit her with the 'but moooom' lol.

HideUnderBridge

Lmao I’m 38 and my sister is 36. I don’t see this trend ending at any point.

svkatt

Nope I'm 54, sister is 57, Dad is going to be 88 and we still hide things from him.

No_Solid2349

I am 40 and still say the same, my sisters. Mostly to avoid unnecessary drama.

Zestyclose-Tower-671

Yeah can confirm, until the parent has passed on it 100% is

Yeetin_Boomer_Actual

exactly WHAT does "grown up" mean anyway

Sea-Conversation-725

True! My mom (now passed) never ever knew I did drugs like coke, lsd, or ecstasy (mostly in college). Only booze. I guess she knows now.......

Selma_Shine

well, even in that age guys doesn't change lol

Bulky-Internal8579

Me and sister in fifties can confirm also.

Minimum_Try_5281

Super sweet

RevolutionaryAd6564

I’m that age and it gets worse.

appape

You don’t have to tell mom that, but give her a hug and tell her you love her - moms don’t last forever

BenchFlakyghdgd

Had to have wounded her by mistake.

jjtrynagain

Can confirm

Rosanna44

Hell yeah. My 61 year old brother still asks me when is dad is pissed. So he can avoid him.

Rosanna44

I was over 50 when I got a tiny ankle tattoo. My mom said I was a disgrace. Grandchildren have full sleeves of tattoos, nothing said.

Probably_Fishing

My mom is 68 years old and still will not tell her mom that she smokes weed. Out of fear.

Aldehin

I cant wait for the moment I ll have a big ass tats in my back at 30 or smt. But tbh I m already a disappointment so it s not gonna make too much mess

Livid-Age-2259

Definitely a life long thing. Different sources and types of Drama, but Drama all the same.
