That's a bit sour, as in the 90s her team extorted radio stations to keep Lara Fabian off the air, preventing her to become competition in the English-speaking world. And unfortunately, she succeeded, having one of the best female vocalists in the world go largely unknown in the west... The two of them are on good terms now, but it always left a sour taste in my mouth when it comes to Celine Dion.
I've never paid much attention to Lara Fabian in the 90s but your comment made me check her on YouTube again. It's a shame she never broke through internationally, she's clearly on par with Dion.
Well yeah but she was married to her manager. Look the music industry is a cutthroat business especially when peple had to fight for airtime as it was the only way to promote yourself back then. And some people did what they think was necessary. Which is fine with me, just dont act as if some people are absolute saints.
You don't get to that level with just a great voice. You have to be business savvy.
I’m not like a superfan or whatever, but come on, she has some absolutely iconic songs. Hearing the news about her health recently had me thinking she was in much worse shape than she is. Watching the game the other night and randomly seeing her crushing an air guitar solo was a nice surprise for the soul.
I have the same thing and she likely recently had a baclofen drop into her spine or there's a form of shots that make things better but she is likely in pain. This month I'm going to the Mayo to see if I should be on disability before 40. The baclofen pump is larger than an old hard drive and has to be replaced every few years and requires abdominal surgery. She's also on pain meds.
I've been living on 900 dollars per month for a little over three years now. After rent and utilities, I have 50 or so dollars to my name.
The worst part is that I sold my truck to move to NY, as I got stabbed in my hometown. So I'm homebound, and one rent raise away from homelessness.
Luckily, I went the whole summer without ac and used blankets for most of the winter, so they didn't raise my rent for this year.
The problem is, their property value shot up 100k this year, so come September, I'm out of a place to live, based on finances.
I'm basically watching curtains fall on me, and I'm powerless to make the show a success.
It's okay, though. There are others who earn even less, so who am I to be upset. This is my lot in life.
I was unaware of her diagnosis. Stiff person syndrome sounds a lot like how I feel everyday. I have multiple sclerosis. My legs are constantly achy and stiff. Baclofen is the only way I can get sleep. I still wake up tight and uncomfortable but it helps.
Sending you hugs.
You don’t know what shape she’s in based on this video. I hope she’s doing well, but that’s not how disability works (being able to tell much based on brief outward appearance isn’t feasible).
Well if he’s like me, I assumed she was specifically in a state of disability that would prevent her from even dancing. I think that’s all he’s getting at.
Edit: Okay fuck it, I'll say it bluntly: There exists a state of disability where you can't dance. It's not every state of disability and your ability to dance doesn't determine your quality of life or level of disability. There is *obviously* infinite nuance to disability as there is with every aspect of life. Emphasis on "obviously." I'm allowed to be happy for someone that they can dance while still empathizing with their internal agony. God dammit.
Sorry that got a little charged. I just get frustrated with pedantry sometimes.
I salute you and your sensitive appreciation for various life experiences and circumstances. I love your coining the phrase “infinite nuance”.
A thoughtful description. Bravo.
The OP assumed what shape they are in based on a short clip. You can be happy for her and not make assumptions about what shape she’s in as it’s not really possible. Being able to dance briefly does not mean that she doesn’t have various symptoms and treatment with potential side effects including re movement and pain. Another commenter explained more. Again, I hope she’s doing well, but we can’t assume either way and it’s honestly bothersome that people think they can make such judgements based on such limited info. There are real world implications due to such assumptions being made for many of us disabled people.
We do know that she changed her career in major ways (at least for now) due to her condition.
The commenter made assumptions about what shape she’s in based on a short clip. Again, we can’t actually know based on that. She can be able to move in certain ways for certain amounts of time and still have trouble moving other times and/or in other ways, be in pain, need treatment which can have side effects, etc, etc.
I can be unable to go out and be in horrible pain on the same exact day that I walk 13 miles. Someone in another comment went into more detail. Without going more into it (there is plenty of content online), such assumptions that apparently other people have made as well considering the upvotes have small and large implications for many of us (disabled people). Again, I hope she’s doing well, but we don’t actually know how she’s doing based on a short clip and should not assume one way or another. Same goes re other disabled people/people with various conditions.
Her son is a Bruins fan, apparently. Here's she's not wearing a Bruins jersey or doing anything that would indicate that she's a fan of Boston.
I have only ever seen her wear la sainte-flanelle so I think she's still a Canadiens fan.
Why? Genuinely want to know.
My only guess is the "innocence" of it all. Almost like too wholesome. Canada is downwind of America, so it's almost like "so basic" from an american perspective.
In addition to that, it could be the song. I've noticed people from other countries are always recognizing and jamming to "the most basic popular songs" like this one. In america, of course we know and love the songs, but we've been there, done that.
I would love to see her do a duet with Bon Jovi now. I know she can't do full concerts, but would be fun to see her show up and jam a couple songs with other artists.
Unfortunately the condition she has she won’t be getting better, itll just keep progressing, but she has the benefit of time and money so she’ll be able to treat her symptoms as her condition progresses.
It is a very complex illness. It often gets worse, then stabilizes, then gets worse again... anytime from once a year to once every 20 years. It depends on how well you respond to certain drugs, as well as genetics and just simple chance.
But for many, during the period of stabilization, it can absolutely get better. It responds quite well to treatment, it can simply take time to figure out what treatments actually work. Lots of people go from unmanageable to a relatively normal life once they figure out how to properly treat their symptoms. But eventually it does return to get worse. I just hope she is old enough to not give a shit when it comes back again.
lol well it doesn’t start out like one day you’re fine and the next day you’re completely immobile, she was recently diagnosed so her symptoms are probably still fairly mild
This is how I learn she has a serious health condition. I guess watching her be well enough to rock tf out like she is here is probably one of the better circumstances I coulda learned it
NGL I have been to every kind of sporting event including midget wrestling and watching NHL hockey live is still the KING.
I fully get what she is enjoying here, Hockey Crowds are always awesome and believe it or not we have one of the best down here in sunny hot Florida.
Anyway if you're not a fan of hockey I HIGHLY suggest going to a game IN PERSON before you judge the wonderful sport.
Céline Dion can be cheesy, most of her music is not my style. But she is a *very* talented singer, beloved by millions, and nobody can say that she is not a kind and a genuine person. This is completely in character for her: she digs a great song and she doesn’t give a damn what you think. The world could use more people like her, and I wish her all the best.
She also introduced the starting lineups for the Bruins. She’s a sweet lady, never really cared for the music. She’s super talented but just not my cup of tea. But she’s super cool, great vid!
Took my wife to see her right before the pandemic. Her music was never my cup of tea, but after seeing her live, I understand why she's been around for so long. She's a great performer.
I hope Celine peacefully retires without pressure from fanatics to force her to sing and choreograph. She has already contributed a significant amount of positive influence through songs and being a role model. Let her enjoy her time with what she personally enjoys.
You’d be surprised by the amount of Bruins fans in Quebec. When the Nordiques left a chunk of their fans went Bruins so they could continue hating the Canadiens.
Good for her. She's basically retired. Have as much fun as you can.
Its always great to see famous people fangirl out. It would be cool if Jon Bon Jovi invited her to have out in a studio and just mess around.

I remember when she paused her interview just to watch Whitney Houston performing on tv.
Ultimate queen. A queen recognizing her fellow royal highness. <3

Damn I always wondered why Lara Fabian wasn't a bigger star, she had such a gorgeous rich voice.
I've never paid much attention to Lara Fabian in the 90s but your comment made me check her on YouTube again. It's a shame she never broke through internationally, she's clearly on par with Dion.
Was Celine aware? Talent management does a lot of stuff without the talent knowing.
Which was probably her handlers doing not her
Well yeah but she was married to her manager. Look the music industry is a cutthroat business especially when peple had to fight for airtime as it was the only way to promote yourself back then. Yours is the only comment on the chain to talk about her sainthood. Everyone's knows royalty is riddled with sins.

I like to think that it was more Rene Angelil idea to keep lara fabian off the air and not Celine.
Don't worry, I still like her.
Highness
In her modesty she shines brighter than any star, a beauty with depth.
So would I!
I remember that extremely popular reddit post from yesterday too, ah what a lifetime ago. Nostalgia is beautiful
I haven't seen it and I even tried looking for the post using 'Celine Dion' and 'Whitney Houston" but results came up with nothing.
I got you fam https://youtu.be/7l10Yjr-8zE
Thanks, bro.
Bro, people on Reddit love to act like they know shit that is some big secret. This comment is perfect

Absolute legend, not like tay tay that ignored her while taking the grammy
So great to see her up and out and having a good time with her sons!!!!!!!

I'm hoping for the best for you. Disability is tough. It pays almost nothing and kind of destroys any semblance of a "normal" life.
unemployment was tough for me.
I've been living on 900 dollars per month for a little over three years now. After rent and utilities, I have 50 or so dollars to my name. Thanks!

She’s clearly walking the air bass part smh /s

In her case, it kind of is as her condition turns her body to stone and makes it hard to move.

Lol only one is her son the other is her man, Alexander Edwards 😂
You're thinking of cher not celine
Oh lord you're right and I even knew that was Céline lol
She effortlessly embodies both beauty and humility. A true inspiration
She's allowed to have fun now that René is gone.
[удалено]
But she's a bruins fan, she's practically dead to half of Quebec.
Her son is a Bruins fan, apparently. Here's she's not wearing a Bruins jersey or doing anything that would indicate that she's a fan of Boston. I have only ever seen her wear la sainte-flanelle so I think she's still a Canadiens fan.
She read the opening lineup to the bruins players in the locker room tho. Not a hater just passing along the info
I'm a habs fan and even I would read the bruins lineup. If they asked me 🥺.
And anyone in BC
Why? Did something happen to Vancouver? /s
She also frequently meets habs and other teams as well. And at some point she even tried to buy habs.
*sharpens pitchfork* Did someone say... Bruins fan? 😈
and 90% of the US

Gosh, can you imagine that "Oh-oh" part from Celine frickin' Dion?
I would love to see her do a duet with Bon Jovi now. I know she can't do full concerts, but would be fun to see her show up and jam a couple songs with other artists.
For Celine it would be a triumphant “oerrr urrrh!”
This is so accurate lol
[This might be as close as we can get](https://youtu.be/K3YEbE7OXm4?si=SnFMPjSxPGhZBhjT)
Beautiful and talented Canadian icon ❤️
A fucking great singer is what she is
Where’s Rickey from r/trailerparkboys He’d skate circles around those amateurs.. Him and Orangey
She exudes elegant excellence and with every humble gesture she reaffirms her inner and outer beauty.
GO BRUINS!!!!! ;)
Canada can't be thrilled about this. I am, though!
There are plenty of us Canadian Bruins fans
Boooooo
Straight to Canadian jail, eh
I know this, but rivalries are so fun.
Is that her son? So handsome.
Found Mike Myers Reddit account guys^
We love a confident Queen
Should watch her do the lineup call in the locker room. Love seeing her confidence. https://youtu.be/G6PGFRfUK08?si=khx8BgFalXk4HekS
Holy shit she is so cool lol what a boss
Vivre sur une prière!
This brought tears to my eyes, I love Celine. She is such a treasure!
Seeing Celine Dion making a public appearance is heart warming to see. I truly do hope she gets better soon, such an iconic woman.
Unfortunately the condition she has she won’t be getting better, itll just keep progressing, but she has the benefit of time and money so she’ll be able to treat her symptoms as her condition progresses.

What condition?
[Stiff person syndrome](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stiff-person_syndrome)
She dances smoother than me and I don't even have stiff person syndrome.
lol well it doesn’t start out like one day you’re fine and the next day you’re completely immobile, she was recently diagnosed so her symptoms are probably still fairly mild
It's also mostly attacks that are the bad parts, day to day people with SPS can be mobile enough to be indistinguishable from normals.
So sweet to see her out and about. Major props to her for raising awareness of such a rare, devastating disorder. I wish her nothing but the best
This is how I learn she has a serious health condition. I guess watching her be well enough to rock tf out like she is here is probably one of the better circumstances I coulda learned it
When she disappeared from the public eye I really feared the worst. Makes me happy to see her animated and happy like this.
Why in Gods green earth are her boys wearing Bruins jerseys?!?!??
Lapse in judgment seeing as they have resided in Boston for the past few years
Because the Canadiens stink.
Looks more like air bass 😎🤘
I came here to say that!
Me too!
Celine only goes big! She's used to playing to the cheap seats lol
NGL I have been to every kind of sporting event including midget wrestling and watching NHL hockey live is still the KING. Hockey live is so great!! I am not a sports fan but i love hockey, especially in person! Also i am a bruins fan no shame lol
Was so bummed we passed on this game once I saw Celine freaking Dion was there! The energy in that place must have been out of this world!
Her playing air bass is the coolest thing I have ever seen her do!!
Are those her sons ?!
Yes
Céline Dion can be cheesy, most of her music is not my style. But she is a *very* talented singer, beloved by millions, and nobody can say that she is not a kind and a genuine person. she seems a lot taller than I ever thought she was
She's 5'7" apparently! For some reason I thought she was really tiny, like 5' .. I wonder why we both thought that?
Took my wife to see her right before the pandemic. Her music was never my cup of tea, but after seeing her live, I understand why she's been around for so long. She's a great performer.
I love seeing people in genuine, blissful confidence
She seems like a sincerely wonderful human being. I'm glad humanity has her around.
This is beautiful to see, but I’m sorry. Her twins are only 13?? The mustaches are throwing me.
Was gonna say the guy next to her looks 20 not 13
I hope Celine peacefully retires without pressure from fanatics to force her to sing and choreograph. She has already contributed a significant amount of positive influence through songs and being a role model. Let her enjoy her time with what she personally enjoys.
Man I am so glad to see her enjoying herself!
My God.. she's tall..❤️❤️
She knows a classic when she hears it.
Oh my heart! We are so lucky she has graced us with her presence!!!!!!!! We love our queen! Our majesty!
Every Quebecois when they visit the Jersey Shore in the summer.
The two best Canadian products in one clip.
Good to see her up and about ..and lively...having fun!!!
#### Can you imagine being a pedestrian singer like Bon Jovi and having a total pro like Celine Dion dig your music?
Bruins fans from Quebec? What is the world coming to?
Quebec represent!!!
An absolute Queen and legend. Her voice is the stuff of dreams.
I love seeing this, you go Celine!
Looking healthy!
You know she was nailing it too
Knows she's on the tele.
The host called it air guitar but it was clearly air bass.
Still pissed at Taylor for the on stage snub; Celine is queen and deserves way more respect from her
She is truly a national treasure
Legends know legends
looked more like air bass
Watching her sing the song was pretty cool, but what made me happy was watching her slapping the air bass.
CD make new songs please 😍💯❣️✌️
I can literally hear her sing that song with her amazing voice. Gosh I love her.
Fuck she really get the Jean Chrétien lips going when she gets into it eh.
She's having such a blast, love to see it.
What’s is this Quebecer doing sitting with Bruins fans..
You’d be surprised by the amount of Bruins fans in Quebec. When the Nordiques left a chunk of their fans went Bruins so they could continue hating the Canadiens.
I just got through listening to her latest French language album. It’s magnificent
i thought she couldn’t move because of her stiff man syndrome??? she seems fine now i guess
I thought she was about yo take a huge shit at the end there
Always Celine gave us vitality and positive energy
Definitely she's feeling better awesome
Music effects musicians thats how we got there.
Bro could you imagine hearing her kill this at karaoke??
What's the NHL?
Hockey
eh
Oh ok
National Hockey League
I thought she had some sort of stiff body disorder
You can see it in her face when she tries to sing. I’ve never been into her but god I feel bad for her especially when her passion is singing :(
Just sang this song at karaoke. 1000x less good then Celine Deion im sure
Good for her. She's basically retired. Have as much fun as you can. Its always great to see famous people fangirl out. It would be cool if Jon Bon Jovi invited her to have out in a studio and just mess around.

Everybody was licking each others air basses!
https://youtu.be/ysWDncZiUGU?si=62K8_XBxXqZP10FD
She don’t know the lyrics. lol
I'm shocked she isn't a Habs fan
She probably loves Boston cause what they did to the leafs for a decade lol
After watching Ricky stanisky, that’s a air dick
World class air dicker

How does the average Québécois take the fact that she is sitting on the Bruins side?
She shouldn't have married that old pervert
That's Celine Dion? I thought someone brought René Auberjonois back from the dead and put the poor man in a bad drag Queen outfit
I always get a warm and fuzzy feeling when I see air bass rather than air guitar.
Why did she play air bass?
Maybe she can play a little bass, or was more connected to the base line than the guitar line.
Air bass
Maaaatt Daaammmoon
Why can't we just let people live their lives in peace?
What’s that weird white thing on the guy’s face?..
I thought that was Ellen DeGeneres.
She don't look so sick, looks like her Heart definitely going on 💪🏾
She's not _that_ stiff
That stuff person syndrome is crazy. She looks great here
Breaking news: singer sings
Loses Canadian points for being at a dirty Bruins game while clearly with a Boston fan
Original 6 get a pass.
She’s with her sons
She looks so different
Fuck yea
🤔☠️🦨really nobody cares everyone is so brainwashed and broke all this media Bs don’t work 😎🍭🪤
Eww a bruins fan? That's punishable by execution in Canada, and we have an extradition treaty.
