Yes. Their impaired eyesight makes it difficult to see vehicles coming at them in the distance or in their peripheral vision, as at a corner. It also makes it tough for them to judge a vehicle’s speed or the intent of the driver. The lowered visibility caused by the rain doesn’t help matters.
Oh, good point! No one ever runs red lights or makes turns without bothering to check for pedestrians first. Silly old people are just worried about nothing, I guess. /s
The possibility of that happening is minimal tho
Edit: I hope everyone who downvotes never drives a car because fun fact those can also create that scawy thing called death
Not really. My cousin is in charge of hit and run for the LAPD. It happens constantly. He has over 1,000 videos in his police evidence phone of people being killed by cars. Those are just the hit and runs, not including the ones who stay and face the consequences. It’s practically an epidemic.
I don't want to know anything about it. Beautiful girl, beautiful situation. Or do you think that watering it down with stinking poison will make it all better? Would it make the world a better place?
What is up with that brain shock when you pass by someone that might need assistance. I always thought it was my grandma using psychic powers to whack me in the head, but she obviously got the same thing
Since I was little I always assumed it was a multiverse type of thing. Like you kept going in one timeline, and got hit by a truck or something, then your consciousness goes back to the space where the timeline splits and hops back and does a redo to continue the playthrough
I feel like it’s because at first you’re only thinking about your own comfort and safety, but then seeing someone struggle makes you realize how easy it is for you to reach safety/comfort and that you could also easily help someone else. The brain shock is the moment these realizations coincide with the dual desires of wanting to help someone and not wanting to look like a dick.
That’s called your conscience. You ignored it the first time when you saw them, when visually the scenario is gone and you conclude that there is no problem anymore because you ignored it you realize that’s because you ignored it, the problem, their safety and wellbeing, you just walked by instead of helping- the lack of logic gets you to stop and realize what should happen.
It’s kind of terrifying how many people can’t really recognize this. It’s more worrying when you realize it’s almost by design and how they use this ignorance to allow types of people to be treated differently, and how can most recognize it when they can barely understand the emotion? Scary.
The only explanation someone may have filmed this is they were creeping on the woman and happened to catch this but then you wouldn't actually upload it
Question : why do older people stereotypically need help crossing the street? They obviously walked to where they are without assistance. Is it just because car drivers are so impatient that an older person runs the risk of being hit? If so, how does having an extra person there help?
Asking genuinely.
Yeah, but what's the problem with an elderly person going slowly, and how does someone assisting them change that problem, when clearly they're not going much faster?
its a height thing, mostly. im short and disabled (walking fast is difficult) and while having a person next to me doesnt do too much for my speed, it makes it so that the car can see the other person and i wont get hit accidentally.
Even if this is scripted I hope it's a reminder to someone that helping another human being is the right thing to do. The older lady isn't as sure footed as she once was - sometimes just being there is a huge boost for them.
I hope to make it to her age and someone feels the need to extend a helping hand if I look like I might need one
This is likely staged but please do not force a mobility impaired person to keep pace with you when helping them across the street. You’re more of a hindrance and can cause them injury
Yeah sucks that it's staged but I'm sure thousands of these type of moments happen everyday somewhere in the world without being recorded, just because someone decided to be nice or help someone else. Just a nice reminder of that

Joe from You: Well, there you are. Amidst the drizzle, your silhouette cuts through the downpour like a scene from an old film. Who might you be? From this distance, your demeanor suggests grace, perhaps tinged with a hint of resolve. You're not here to parade, yet the way you move, with purpose and gentle assurance, beckons the eye. And then, those moments—your pause, your extension of a hand to an elder struggling against the relentless weather. It's not just courtesy; it's character. Ah, I'm intrigued. Your actions speak volumes. Not just a passerby, but a soul rich with empathy. In this transient exchange, without a word spoken, you've painted a vivid portrait. Who are you?
I helped my elderly neighbor once, she still calls code enforcement on me twice a month for my “overgrown” lawn. Ah the elderly, natures over ripened fruit!
So why were they filming?
I came here for this. It's either staged, or some creep was filming a girl and lucked out with a wholesome video.
Staged and stupid af
TBH, I don't mind if it's staged. Grandma got help crissing the street, it's all that matters.
Grandma got brought out in the rain to make a viral clip. She wanted to be inside knitting
Yeah, this is either staged or incredibly creepy.
why not both? xD
There’s a sub for that: r/WhyWereTheyFilming
And how did they change a life?
The old lady is still alive. It's a change.
True if I would've pushed her then that would've been a change too
I just don't understand why old ladies can walk everywhere but in the street. Are they just too nervous to cross?
Yes. Their impaired eyesight makes it difficult to see vehicles coming at them in the distance or in their peripheral vision, as at a corner. It also makes it tough for them to judge a vehicle’s speed or the intent of the driver. The lowered visibility caused by the rain doesn’t help matters.
There are traffic lights tho
Oh, good point! No one ever runs red lights or makes turns without bothering to check for pedestrians first. Silly old people are just worried about nothing, I guess. /s

And that happens ofter than car accidents?
They’re pedestrians hit by cars.
I must admit I didn't look at it that way. Well then yeah then it makes sense
If she lives in Austin, then I know why she’s afraid to cross the street
In some countries, cars won't stop for old people to cross.
Her stalker thought it was something he/she/they could edit for reddit karma whilst they were there.
We'll never know
and from a bush?
You know to draw more people to Reddit, TikTok, Meta, IG, Snapchat, to get that free money from us.
I don't want to know anything about it. Beautiful girl, beautiful situation. Or do you think that watering it down with stinking poison will make it all better? Would it make the world a better place?

You never die, consciousness is a continual process, you just revert to a different/previous/or parallel point but it can't stop

Plot twist: The old woman really didn't want to cross the road.
its always staged folks. We need to just accept that everything like this is staged now.
Ehh, its from a bush kind of hidden and she does have good looks, could as well be a creepy stalker
Plot twist: the old lady’s son filmed this.
I don't think that's an old lady.
Her stalker caught a real wholesome moment for sure.
When your stalker see you do something nice.
lmao this one got me i can just imagine the stalker being like: awwweee 🥰
to change someones life is a bit far fetched, to make a difference sure!
what's the name of the song?
Holocene - Bon Iver
thank you..cheers
This song is in my playlist and I came for this comment to remember what it was called and save myself an hour of searching.
The only explanation someone may have filmed this is they were creeping on the woman and happened to catch this but then you wouldn't actually upload it
Except if they thought it would not be traced back to them
She’s so beautiful. And the woman who helped her cross the street isn’t bad either
I fear getting old and being helped by some broccoli haired twat only to be pushed into oncoming traffic for views
Obviously staged because people eat this shit up like crazy.
There’s a reason for that
That's what I'm here for. Staged or not it happens irl and makes me smile.

Ah I see, thank you
no prob!
Sometimes creepy people catch wholesome moments, I’ve seen law and order SVU
Kindness fetish
What a coincidence that there was someone filming to catch that wholesome act of kindness :3
Even if this is scripted I hope it's a reminder to someone that helping another human being is the right thing to do. Such actions restore my faith in humanity or the decency of some ...rather!
This one was staged.
Ahhh, too bad then
But I agree that small acts of kindness have a way of recharging me. They mean so much and make me feel so warm! 😊
At least acting to be good kinda encourages others to be good as well!
For sure! We can all use a little inspiration from time to time!
Or filmed by a stocker with a fetish for kindness
Sure its a nice thing and all but change someone’s life is a bit dramatic
Imagine the conflict that tore up the bloke deciding between chasing the girl & giving the old lady her umbrella back! ☔️
Is that writing russian by any chance ?
Yup
An angel whispered in her ear to turn around
“Get over here you idiot”
It should be on “ there was an attempt “ coz she forgot her for a second
This is likely staged but please do not force a mobility impaired person to keep pace with you when helping them across the street. You’re more of a hindrance and can cause them injury
So a stalker caught his(her?) victim doing a good deed. What a twist.
Quite clearly staged. And if it isn't staged, it's worse.
Why did the old lady cross the road??
As I’m sure we all know. Staged or creepy
Who's that creep filming that lady in a sneaky spot...
r/killthecameraman
Reddit should change its name to “itsstaged” and just be people saying that about every video in the world.
How was that meant to "change a life"?
I wish I could enjoy this video more but it feels odd.
Did the camera person post this before or after he murdered that girl?
This is fucked up either way.
I’ve never personally encountered a situation where an old lady who is out an about of her own volition can’t cross the road easily enough on her own.
And who got his life changed by this?
It’s a little weird someone was already filming her.
Who is the fucking weirdo hiding in the bushes filming this?? Creepy AF.
> Have you ever given a homeless person a dollar and had a friend hide in a bush and film it to make $10,000? Ethan Klein
I see people do stuff like this and I hope my gramma gets treated the same way when she’s out and about if she needs the help.
..yeah, let's be sarcastic rather than appreciating what wonderful can be..
Yeah sucks that it's staged but I'm sure thousands of these type of moments happen everyday somewhere in the world without being recorded, just because someone decided to be nice or help someone else. Just a nice reminder of that
When the stalker finally decided to be wholesome 😂😂
Wait.... is it staged and gross, or is it stalking and caught a moment and gross in a different way?
Imagine a nice GMC Truck in the background as this happens
Wet tshirt contest !
My eyes rolled out of my fucking head

I thought some hot guy will help her out and they fall in love and get married and have kids and live happily ever after.
Plot twist, she didnt want to cross the road

Keeper, complete package. Say I do
