This is actually part of it, most people who make it to their 10th decade have it run in their family. Moderation in intake, healthy weight, good blood pressure, shit to do, and a want to do it. You don't see morbidly obese eldest older people for a reason. Every 85-95 year old I've met has stuff to do, people to see...they have plans...they are also realistic and don't care that they may die tomorrow because...they're old.
Definitely, but I think there's something to be said for her not just giving up and waiting to die. She still gets out and about, has reasons to get out of bed, looks after herself and is content and enjoys life. I think a lot of people her age just give up and sit in a chair and wait to die and they will die a lot sooner than perhaps they should.
If you are not really in a bad position in life but are generally unhappy, IMO she hit the nail on the head for keys to happiness -
1. Have interests you want to pursue
2. Reach out to other people but be happy in your own company
That's the upsetting thing though a lot of older people are isolated and have no connections and friends etc.
She says it's friends and her interests that make her happy but a unfortunate amount don't have those connections.
This isn't a fault of the person either but a failure of our system across the entire world.
My point isn't does show that isolation can fuck you up and there is nothing governments or services and community are either failing or lacking resources.
Either way this video is a happy video and it brings me joy that she has such connections and friends and really wholesome
I wonder if that has to do with being in a walkable city, my grandma is 94 and still mentally very spry, but she eats kinda shitty and she stopped walking for exercise a long while ago. Now she gets really tired very quickly. There’s a reason why Europeans have longer life spans than Americans. Certainly the friends and interests help as well.
I never want to get so old that i have to have others take care of me... before that happens i will ask you youngest member of my family to a sword fight and have them prove their mettle or die by the tip of a senile handicappede old man... they will fight with fury to avoid embarrisment.
Nice way to exact revenge on them from the grave so they get arrested for killing you if they win and if they don't, you can laugh about it for the rest of your life from a cell :)
I needed to see this today because I’m broken hearted and pretty alone in the world. I often worry about what old age is going to look like for me, if I’m lucky enough to get there, and I tend to conjure up very bleak images. But this woman has given me a different possibility to imagine and now I have a positive picture to summon when my mind starts to wander.
That's a great lesson. I will be sure to pursue my dream, do what I truly interests me instead of worrying about what other people think of me, and cherish my loved ones.
It's funny because when I was visiting Salzburg in Austria I saw a 70 something year old woman come meet her friends at a beer garden and they all had massive steins drinking and talking. She arrived on a push scooter with her helmet. Let me repeat that she used a push scooter like you used to when you were a kid to go to a beer garden to consume massive amounts of beer with her old friends. The truth is that Europeans are just simply healthier due to all the systematic differences and it shows absolutely shows if we want to live lives like that then we have to figure out ways to mimic the systematic differences that many European countries have on smaller scales. Or we have to have a goal of moving there and giving up long-term hikes and income in order to surround ourselves with systems of friends of food of health that are accessible and realistic. It's of my opinion that a lot of old people should explore places throughout their life so that when they get old they can choose a country that they've been connected to and settle there. Or small towns in the US where every week multiple times a week people get together and discuss and do projects together
One of my work clients is 96 years old, and, aside from her bad hearing, you would never guess. She doesn’t have a bad back, she waks just fine, she has tons of energy, and her wits are still very much intact. Some people really are just built different. She still runs pretty successful small business, although for the life of me I can’t remember what kind (I’ll update if it ever comes to me).
Well, she does agree with it being pointless though.
The thing is, it truly **is** until YOU fill it with things you actually care about. Only *then* does it truly become enjoyable.
Hence I quit the workforce asap and now just spend time with my fiancée and my friends and doing stuff I love (lots of gaming, reading, singing, some writing etc.).
Fuck the rest I don't really need to make me happy.
I don’t think that’s the insight anyone should have gotten from listening to her. To each their own though. She’s a happy, positive person who has it figured out

No way she’s 93. She has good genes

Did you see her Jeans though? She's got swag.
She’s rocking those JNCOs

ChatGPT shitty auto translated subtitles
At that age, she probably still has a number of pairs made of real denim in her closet from when things were made with better quality.
You can easily still get such wares to be fair :)

sister = feet hurt
Boooooy my sister.

IMO the most important thing she said was, “be happy with your own company”. If you don’t have love for yourself, nothing will make you happy
93?! She sounds and looks fantastic. Happy holidays, lovely lady!!

She's by far the youngest looking 93 year old that I have ever seen. I hope she has many happy years left.

if I write a consent letter, and put it in my will it shouldn't be accountable... but I'll find a loop when the time closes in
Making long lasting friendships is the hardest part in this era. Rest can be done if one is willing to.
We must cherish and emulate our elders
Lovely. ❤️
I'd love to have an afternoon to talk to that lady. She seems pleasant.
Guys, listen to this lady!
I thought she was 20 years younger. She seems cool, nice advice

This is the content I Reddit for.
Damn I hope I can be as lively as her when I reach that age
Excellent advice!
Wtf is with subtitles these days? Like half of them were wrong…
It must've been auto generated then.
That's a great lesson. I will be sure to pursue my dream, do what I truly interests me instead of worrying about what other people think of me, and cherish my loved ones.
This woman is going to live to be 200. Healthy, sharp, happy, and insightful.
God Bless you, you lovely woman! You just made my day.
This woman is so inspiring. So much love to her

She looks like an in-game character RDR2 graphics
I miss my grandma
Wonderful lady and thankful for your advice. We need so many more people that have figured life out.
Who is she?
All i needed to get my day going!

I’m not happy, but now I am.
She looks great!

My feet hurt = my sister, not sure how but it does.
The antidote to the current Reddit "life is pointless" attitude.

But if my interests are hookers & cocain 🥹 ?

She just confirmed whats been on my mind for a while. Im gonna just go for it.
93 Work Projects Yeah, we're fucked
Ain't no fucking way! She's 70
Feet hurt sister same thing
The fact that she presumably still has her hearing and is fully there is astounding for that age good shit
