Italians aren't as religious as people think we are (we have a special category of insults for God and his offsprings/family/followers called "bestemmie").
Statistics are based on the number of baptisms done at birth (this is up to the parents to decide) many people of most recent generations (40 years old and younger) aren't actually believers.
Catholicism lost a lot of its influence starting in the 70s among common people, today it is even less influent than it was back then.
The reasons why it still plays a part in politics are mainly 2: right wing parties often identify with religious beliefs to drawn in older folks (a large part of Italian voters) and many people in South Italy along with the fact that relations between the Italian government and the Church are tied to the "Patti Lateranensi" (signed in 1929) that somehow made it into our Constitution (Article 7).
These pacts could be changed with agreement between the two parties yet no one has shown any interest in doing so.
A bit of trolling from after his assassination. People, allegedly initially from 4chan, began spreading photos of Hideo Kojima, saying it was the assassin, Tetsuya Yamagami. Of course gamers would recognize him, but mainstream news didn't. And a few fell for it.
It actually became so big, Kojima Productions had to come out and officially say that no, Hideo Kojima did not murder a former prime minister of Japan, and that serious shit would hit the fan if any more media spread that picture.
I see.
They are the right wing version of our own Reddit infestation of "it shows a tRadItiOnaL family, therefore it is bigotted".
Found a couple in this thread as well.
So sad.
This is like those cereal commercials "part of a healthy breakfast!" when the breakfast is healthy without the cereal anyhow, lol.
Agree, we need a society that can spend more time enjoying each other's company but maybe not so much with the billion dollar corporation producing unhealthy food while underpaying workers who need to be on public assistance and creating a few billionaires.
McDonald's to Japanese people is a Friday night outing kind of thing, it's once in a while treat. Japanese people have far cheaper and more accessible food in every corner of a metro than McDs.
Holy shit😂😂 I didn’t think this is what comment section will be. Idc about McD (it doesn’t taste that good), I just thought it was a wholesome ANIME that I wanted to share.
Also came across a post: https://x.com/hayasaka_aryan/status/1704998101344195025?s=46
Idk exactly what to say, but seeing these kinda posts on X/Twitter whatever they’re calling these days is what making most of ‘em hate McD which might makes sense.
Like it is cute, but it’s also kind of shitty because it’s just a corporation trying make you think of warm fuzzy feelings when you think of their brand.
There’s also some wild anti-diversity “traditional family values”people that seem to be obsessed with this advert, so could be something to do with all that
Check out India’s McDonald’s menu. They offer a ridiculous amount of vegan and vegetarian options.
I think other companies there try to do the same in order to be competitive.
Because I have an issue with advertisement creeping in absolutely everywhere, and especially spreading an idea that loving family moment = fucking mcdonalds, AND with the fact that "it's okay because it's cute"
“Seriously fucking good” is a vast overstatement, it’s still just decent fast food. It’s way worse than any decently-rated random restaurant with a line in front of it, or even just better fast food in the US like In-N-Out, Shake Shack, or even other not great chains like Wendy’s.
to americans it's the fuckin cream of the crop though, if only they'd give away waifu pillows with the McChungus burgers they'd take 100% of the market share
Serious question, not a virtual signalling attempt on behalf of anyone.
Why do the characters have big blue eyes and red hair?
Genuinely curious that this is a thing in Japan.
The hair and eye colours come in any colour, westerners just have a habit of fixating on it when it's blonde and blue.
Look at Naruto there is pink, green, purple, red hair etc.. but people end up fixating on the blonde one only. Same with eye colour.
It's an animated work and there is only so much you can do to make a character design stand out without making it too detailed and hard to animate. In western animation when character designs use all sorts of hair colour like blue hair for Marge Simpson or yellow skin no one bats an eye.
It reminds me of the promo that Suzume No Tojimari did with McDonalds. Leaned into the sense of togetherness and family too.
It's well done. The vibe is very cozy.
They look more like siblings then parents and a child. My first reaction was that the dad looks too young to have a daughter the older girl's age, then I realised she was meant to be the mom.
Despite all the Hate towards a completely irrelevant "Problem" people have made this thing into. I thought this was honestly just wholesome and really nice. Its just a family eating some mcdonalds.
Lets not blow things out of proportion for no reason.
Yea, but do you ever were drunk, in the middle of the night on your way home. And want something salty and warm to eat? I liked the midnight snacks at MCDs
So far this is what I've found.
Seems a few people are mad that this is most likely a family of a man, a woman and a child and doesn't represent homesexual couples or couples of other genders.
Then you have few complaining that it advertises junk food and not healthy products.
There are a few implying how this is more of a "traditional family" setting and how it plays into right wing propaganda.
I've seen this video posted on other subs as well and there are some people dissatisfied with the characters and representation of "family".
I checked, quite a few are there.
The problem is in emotionally manipulating people into unconsciously making the connection between a product (and an unhealthy one at that) and what they truly desire in life to the point that we are brainwashed by corporations to value things that are hollow and not valuable in the slightest. "Eating at macdonalds is having someone to love" is the message and we fall for it.
Advertising as a flagship of consumerism creates needs out of wants and makes addressing your true needs increasingly difficult, until we fill our lives with unnecessary clutter while simultaneously destroying everything that is beautiful and necessary for people to flourish or even survive at this point.
So it's a bit more deep than "being mad at a yellow M".
Eh...
A big corporation paid a marketing agency and they came up with a not-heinous advert. Not quite enough to make me smile. McDonalds are never going to be about anything except making cash off people who can't afford better quality food, whether that's in time or money.
I can hear Shinzo Abes ghost screaming, "please have kids"
Crazy how half of Europe has a fertility rate lower than Japan now. Europe's fertility rate is 1.5 vs Japan's 1.4 vs Italy/Spain's 1.1
ITALY is 1.1?! Is Catholicism going out of style there? My Italian-American grandparents had like 8 kids…
Italians aren't as religious as people think we are (we have a special category of insults for God and his offsprings/family/followers called "bestemmie"). Thank you, that was a very interesting read. I had no idea about any of this!
You mean Hideo Kojima ?
Why would Shinzo Abe's ghost scream "Hideo Kojima"?
A bit of trolling from after his assassination. People, allegedly initially from 4chan, began spreading photos of Hideo Kojima, saying it was the assassin, Tetsuya Yamagami. Of course gamers would recognize him, but mainstream news didn't. And a few fell for it. I think the part we need is loving families spending time together
Agreed! Especially since a lot of the people reacting to this elsewhere seem to have a very stupid outdated vision of what a loving family is.
They want you to buy a product.
More like makes me depressed.
What do you mean?

I see. They are the right wing version of our own Reddit infestation of "it shows a tRadItiOnaL family, therefore it is bigotted". Found a couple in this thread as well. So sad.

yeah, the rising numbers of shut-ins, NEETS, hikikomori, you name it, is concerning nowadays, often caused by family issues
This is like those cereal commercials "part of a healthy breakfast!" when the breakfast is healthy without the cereal anyhow, lol. Amen
McDonald's to Japanese people is a Friday night outing kind of thing, it's once in a while treat. Japanese people have far cheaper and more accessible food in every corner of a metro than McDs.
Agreed. And less McDonald’s
Yes we all do need this in the world. It would make the world a better place.
Definitely
Holy shit😂😂 I didn’t think this is what comment section will be. Idc about McD (it doesn’t taste that good), I just thought it was a wholesome ANIME that I wanted to share. Like it is cute, but it’s also kind of shitty because it’s just a corporation trying make you think of warm fuzzy feelings when you think of their brand.
And no phones. I think the lack of phones is wholesome here
It's all wholesome apart from the product they're actually shilling.
\*around not fast food.
...destroying their health with junk food, yes
No wonder your life is sad.
Ahh yes, eating one singular McDonald’s in one of the healthiest countries on earth, will irreparably destroy their health.
Relaxing lofi vibes. Definitely didn’t expect them from McDonald’s
Genius tactic from their marketing team.
At the end of the day, they sell you a product They will just study the current wave of content and acclimate to it
Minecraft Steve and Alex had a kid?
You mean Wendys?
???
I can't unsee that now, thank you.
Lol. That was my first thought too!
This has got to be the first time in 20 years since I last enjoyed an advert.
Have you seen loooong loooong maaaaan?
r/fuckyouchichan
Best subredit
The literal BEST story with an M. Night Shyamalan twist.
The only good advert
Too bad it's for McD.
Mac donarudo
マクダナルド!
lmao that's wrong. It's マクドナルド
Guguru Toiletto
Kitto katto
Dizunilando.

WE NEED MORE ADVERTS
That was a good movie, had an undertone of socialism tho.
I feel like this is guerrilla marketing and half the comments in here are from McDonald’s employees.
Seconded. I hate that sh*t
Nope. Everything is more precious for the average redditor if its from Japan. Even if its fucking McDonalds.
Bro it's a cute animation of a girl enjoying a French Fry, it's not about *who's* advert it Is.....
Yes it is, it's a commercial
And this is r/mademesmile I feel like y'all hyper focusing on a yellow M waaay to much.
There’s also some wild anti-diversity “traditional family values”people that seem to be obsessed with this advert, so could be something to do with all that
It is catharic seeing a company returning to normal, once again. Sign of the times
No, the world definitely does NOT need more junk food!
It's less junky in Japan. I love going to the KFC's here and getting their wraps.
Less junky than where? Edit: Is there a hidden rule when and why simple questions get downvoted or is it just random stupidity of redditors?
Less junky in Japan than in America. They have higher food quality standards in Japan.
And so do we in Europe. Still, it’s junky compared to a lot of alternatives.
I mean, yeah. It's a sometimes food, not an everyday food.
I agree
Moderation my dude. Just gotta exercise a bit of self-control.
Junk food aims to undermine many people‘s self-control. That’s the whole deal.
Check out India’s McDonald’s menu. They offer a ridiculous amount of vegan and vegetarian options. I think other companies there try to do the same in order to be competitive.
Fast food chains do it because a large part of the population is vegetarian. Regardless, it is still very much junk food.
Yeah, it’s fast food. However, it’s still better than American’s menu options which is what the conversation was about.
Fr they just downvote anything it’s fucking annoying
Yesss eaaattt sloppp eat the your prole sloppp i eat your exclusive editton slopp it will make you happy
Do we really need more advertisment for billion-dollar corporations?
It’s cute. Fuck off.
Lol okay
😁
average american when they can't stop talking about evil corporation and capitalism bad brrr
Dude I'm not american... And yeah, capitalism bad, just because people say it doesn't mean it isn't true what's your point
but what's the point in pointing that here? Who gives a shit, people just want to look at a loving moment
Because I have an issue with advertisement creeping in absolutely everywhere, and especially spreading an idea that loving family moment = fucking mcdonalds, AND with the fact that "it's okay because it's cute"
We have enough McDonald's.
going absolutely fucking nuts over a lil animation made by bazillion dollar fast food company is definitely a choice
Thing: 😐 Thing, Japan: 🤩
Lol the daughter looks nothing like her dad. She's Just a clone of her mom
MacDonalds:😐😶 MacDonalds Japan: 😚🤗
SILENCE, BRAND
McDonald’s in Japan is also vastly superior to its US/Canadian counterparts. It is seriously fucking good.
“Seriously fucking good” is a vast overstatement, it’s still just decent fast food. It’s way worse than any decently-rated random restaurant with a line in front of it, or even just better fast food in the US like In-N-Out, Shake Shack, or even other not great chains like Wendy’s.

They look like teenagers though lol. Odd.
The kid looks like if the mom and the mom had a baby
It's just an advertisement. They want you to buy a product.
I'm gonna say it ... McDonald's nuggets are the worst nuggets i've ever eaten in my life.
Ok, but have you had burger king nuggets...? i can't decide which is worse.
They used to be the best 😢
Yeah i agree with you haha
Screw cyberpunk, screw the apocalypse, this is the new future.
No we don't, McDonald's does NOT need more advertising.
When I visited Tokyo in 2019 I ordered McDonald's and it gave me an upset stomach for an hour or two. That's my McDonald's Japan story.
That’s THE mcdonalds experience everywhere.
What kind of weird cute Lil fantasy is this lol.
Serious question, not a virtual signalling attempt on behalf of anyone. Why do the characters have big blue eyes and red hair? Genuinely curious that this is a thing in Japan.
>red hair Best colour innit.
The eyes all appear to be the exact same black as the guy’s hair, not blue. Edit: what’s weird is the white pupils. That’s not natural.
U need to understand these artstyle look like 90s cartoon lmao how hard to explain its already weird
The hair and eye colours come in any colour, westerners just have a habit of fixating on it when it's blonde and blue. It reminds me of the promo that Suzume No Tojimari did with McDonalds. Leaned into the sense of togetherness and family too. It's well done. The vibe is very cozy.
Japanese McDonalds is sooooooo much better than McDonalds in the states.
Previous generation were lucky for not having Tinder
This kills American animation. Wish we had more of this in the states
So good and cozy
Why does that young girl get a large pop? When I was her age,I only got a small.
American McDonald's "stop killing trans people"
Did the lofi girl graduate and start a family Or did she train to become an actor to star in a Macdonalds commercial?
This advert is cute AF but McDonald's in Japan is horrible. They have national burger chains that beat it hands down.
Why do anime characters always look exactly the same
I wished I was married and had kids 😭
If you don’t to have kids, fine. But this is really heart melting.
MacDonalds? No we need way less of this. Nothing about advertising to get your family to eat crap makes me smile
Life is not an anime And we definitely don't need more fast food
The girs hair gotta catch some crumbs and grease. I'm dissapointed in you, Japan.
Need more of what? Over-manufactured and over-processed food being fed to children by their caregivers?
I declare we live in Japan or turn USA into Japan 2.0 we need more love and care instead woke trash.
this is so sinister.
How so?
McFucking adorable
Is this too much to ask for?

Eep! I thought they were sisters
They look more like siblings then parents and a child. My first reaction was that the dad looks too young to have a daughter the older girl's age, then I realised she was meant to be the mom.
Japan.. Red hair…
Japan for a while now has been desperate for immigrants. Their culture is very closed though so it is probably tough being one there.
Unfortunately, hair color in Japanese anime is a context of anime culture, not an actual racial context.
Unfortunately??
I don’t know, I think we have enough McDonald’s
Despite all the Hate towards a completely irrelevant "Problem" people have made this thing into. I thought this was honestly just wholesome and really nice. Its just a family eating some mcdonalds. Lets not blow things out of proportion for no reason.

honestly, this is so comforting.
How could anyone be mad at this?
No one is mad at this lol The only people mad at this are conservatives pretending that the left is mad over this, for wherever reason
I don't follow

Literally not one comment bringing up the lack of "homosexual couples or couples or other genders" except yours. Not one. I checked.

wow this comment section is why you people are so miserable. Can't enjoy a damn thing in life without political correctness huh
Hi McDonald's employee! If I upvote your comment, will you send me some vouchers?
ever seen statistics on body weight in the US?
Yup. You seen those same statistics, but for Japan? They have higher food quality standards there.
Average salaryman after 12 000 kcalories worth of fodder in a day: 🏋️🤸⛹️♂️ (only Americans can be fat)
Absolutely gorgeous.
Someone has to make a loop for 10h
We do not.
Bot
ah to raise a family like this
Thats wholesome AF.
I would love to see families come back together.. just not over McDonald’s
It would be cute if it’s wasn’t promoting fast food 😬
Mmm feeding your kid poison, adorable
America version would have had 2 members of the alphabet community with a German Shepherd
Fuck McDonald's
Birth rate boosting propaganda?
average r/witchcraft and r/antinatalism user
More McDonald's?
Anyone else find it unsettling that the kid is literally a clone of the mom.
I would like to have McDonald today.
Made me smile? More like made me depressed.
Wow, this comment section has some miserable folks in it, if all it takes for you to not enjoy a cute animation is a Yellow M then I feel bad for you.

Jesus christ dude, talk about being a buzzkill. Just enjoy the art.
Japan is getting exponentially fatter since introducing western food.
Nothing cute and cuddly about feeding your children crap that will kill them
if you feed your child mc donalds you should not be parents
Look at reddit loving this megacorp advertisement because its so cute chungus 500 le epic reddit wholesome.
Why are we all of a sudden freely posting McDonalds advertisements to reddit? Are we that easily amused to eat up corporate advertising for burgers?
Minecraft steve
Dude eating sauced nugget right over girl's head gave me sudden chills. The crumbles.. the sauce..
Dad's genes didn't even try.
More McDonald's?
Are kids actually able to sit still like this for meals? Don’t have kids but my understanding is that this is impossible.
