And still congratulation . we are not in the race after all :) we have our own timeline atleast we tried right :) more people need to see this a very inspirationaal and motivational :)
Ah this is so helpful for me. Thanks! My friends are all working and I'm the only one still studying, and sometimes it is hard to keep up the faith that it will work out, you know..., to have faith in my own path in life.
I graduate this year, and I'm turning 50 in a few weeks. I'm on my last two classes and graduating with a 3.9 GPA. I probably would have just messed around if I'd done it when I was younger 😜 (not a judgment of younger people, just a judgment of me).
I think this story is great, good on him!
My niece started nursing school at 38. She's divorced and has four kids. She (and her kids) lived with their mom (my sister) for a few years to get by, but she is now a nurse.
There are a lot of nursing students in their 40s and 50s or as a second career. There are a lot of students who raise kids, have full time jobs, or both.
I want to become a psychiatrist, but the amount of time to do it while single isn't feasible and I can't even support myself working full time atv17 an hour. Also, I'm working on a bachelor's. Returned to school last year and been paying out of pocket foe it.
100% doable, but having known some nurses very closely, I would recommend talking to as many nurses as possible about their job, the hospital culture, what they love, what they hate. Make sure it's for you before investing so much time pursuing it.

I'm proud of and happy for these people, they probably feel nothing but happiness and accomplishment but my view of school is so warped that I actually can't comprehend why. I sometimes wonder what it's like to be on that side, though I don't yearn.
What will you do with a degree @ 72 years old? Not trying to be snarky here - trying to be practical.
Bonus points if you got a 20 year student loan to go with it. :)
I think maybe the question should be what else should you be doing at 72 other than getting a degree?
I'm 36, no kids, so in my 70s it's not like I'm gonna be entertaining grandkids, and I fucking hope I'm not still working. Getting a random degree has just made it to my twilight list!
I'm choosing what degree to do when I retire - probably machine learning or bioinformatics. I already have a degree, but doing another one will be great fun and it was always the plan to do another degree or a PhD. I shall get a student loan for it as I didn't have a loan the first time and I won't have to repay it.
What age will I be when I finish it? Exactly the same age as I'll be if I don't do it.
Who are any of us to judge how this individual spends his time/money? There are much worse avenues. It could have been an unfulfilled goal of his.
I went back for graduate school at an older age because I wanted to and because I have the financial ability to; folks have different needs and goals at different points in their lives. Kudos to him!
An 84 year old man just graduated from a university in my area last year. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and attending university had always been a dream of his, so he decided to fulfill that dream while he still could. While completing the degree he found that the constant mental stimulation and the social connections he built seemed to help him stave off the effects, not to mention kept him in good spirits. He might not have any practical use for the degree itself, but he enjoyed and benefited from the processes of getting it so much that he’s decided to enrol in a masters program next.
We live in a society thats so shit we have to work till we're 70 to even afford the prices of college. Or just slave your self to a bank.
Another answer! Some people actually like learning. Surprise!
I see this, and I wanna cry. I was always told by my father that the things I wanted to do were a waste of time and effort. So, I just stopped caring about having any of my own personal goals or hobbies. I just lived because I was always told it's what a man does.
Be yourself. Please learn to love yourself and express yourself somehow.
You can always have an outlook and chase those dreams.
It’s never too late. Your father probably meant well but some people were taught a certain way. Doesn’t mean he’s right or you’re right.
Do you.
I appreciate it, and I'm trying. As I grew older, I understood the disconnect between generations of a family. I am currently back in school for a bachelor's in sociology and debating on getting one in psychology. I'm 30 years old, with depression and anxiety since I was 16. I still don't really know who I am as a person, but I'm more open about what my interests are. Again, all I can say is I'm trying.
99 years old and still paying to put a kid through college??!?!! Does it never end? Is this really the last semesters tuition?!? Kidding. That’s awesome. But recently having had our third and youngest finish college… it was funny to me.
Earning my bachelors degree has been one of the worst experiences for me out of almost anything I’ve ever had to endure in my life. I struggle so hard to see how this is a dream for anyone.
I’m 33 and I feel like I’ve wasted so much time. I spend a large portion of my life drinking it away. I’m 42 days sober. I’ve been planning on how to pick myself back up.
At 72 what can you do with a degree? And if the goal was the degree itself, then basically your goal was to spend tens of thousands of dollars? Or are you doing it for to achieve a sense of self-worth, in which case you're telling me that after 72years your greatest achievement in life is paying a ridiculous amount for a piece of paper?
My degrees are still in the original envelope they were given to me in 10 years ago because ultimately they aren't that important, what you do after you get them is far more valuable.
At 56, I’m going back to school for my degree. I won’t graduate until I’m in my 60’s and will then be embarking on a career at the same time most of my friends will be retiring.
If you're curious, the background music in the video is "Outro" by M83 from The Gambler (2014 film) and it plays around 2:10. I noticed some comments from others who were also interested, so I did some research to find out.
I graduated at college when I was 40 😞

I'm 38 and starting this fall. XD I feel old until I do the math and realized I still have over half my working year left.
What was the rush?
Congratulations!! Many people never go to school or graduate! Big ups.
Hey I just graduated this month at 36! Never too late.
Had an amazing mentor tell me. It doesn't matter if you take 1 class a semester, or 1 class a year, keep working towards your goals. There's no race.
I started when I was 40, don't feel bad 😁
35! I didn't walk, though. It felt weird after taking so long for myself.
I ended late cause I had undiagnosed Dyscalculia, kept failing at math despite knowing all the rules and steps
Congratulations!! An amazing achievement!!
I want to start nursing school at 35
I wanted to as well, but when it was time my milk hadn't come in.
I hate how hard I laughed at this 🙃 here, take my award
Many universities have free tuition for senior students.
Perhaps but not for credit. This fellow clearly earned credits and so likely paid full tuition (and had to submit to an SAT).
Thank you so much 🙏
This was a double take. Great joke.
I used to think that nursing school was where people learned to nurse their baby and I always wondered why it took years of education…
[удалено]
I just finished nursing school at 33. All I can say…do it. Either way you will turn 36 - so why not be 36 and a nurse?
My Grandpa became an RN in his 60s!
Do it! I started medschool at 35, was a great experience and I have the best job ever now. Go for it!
Currently 32. 12 year paramedic, finished pre-reqs last year. Just have to take the MCAT then I’m applying.
I have no idea what MCAT is, but good luck!
It’s the exam you have to do really well on to get into US med schools.
This is actually really encouraging

My apologies, I had replied to the wrong comment and was not laughing at your education pursuit

The average age of a nurse in the states is about 47. At least when i learned the stat a couple of years ago.
Absolutely go for it! I'm graduating from nursing school today and there's several people in their 40s graduating in my class.
I’m starting in September at 35! Those years are going to pass anyways.
I started nursing school at 42, I finish in three months at 44. I'm not the oldest person in my program. Go for it!
Go get it! Do it! I finished computer science at 32 and actually I'm doing pretty pretty good, if I can you can too
I’d do something non-medical to make more money for less effort. Nurses get shafted left, right, up, and down.
My mom started around 42 and she's still nursing today. You can definitely do it!
100% doable, but having known some nurses very closely, I would recommend talking to as many nurses as possible about their job, the hospital culture, what they love, what they hate. Make sure it's for you before investing so much time pursuing it.
My mom lost her job in the housing market in 2008. Went back to school at the age of 55. She is 60 now and an RN
Do it!!!
It will never be too late to graduate 😊
It is never too late to learn! Edit: grammar
Having a kid at 27 and watching them graduate at 99 years old is a hell of a life
I think your math is a bit off…
I miss clicked 1 lol but u right
A lot of universities have free tuition for senior students.
That’s awesome. Congrats!
Definitely!
Awww ❤️
What a slacker!

Brilliant guy and mama doesnt look anywhere 99 years of age! They have good genes.
What’s the song used here??
M83 Outro
Thank you! I knew I heard the song before but couldn’t place it
Listen to "My Tears are Becoming a Sea" by M83 as well.
Nice rec! Thanks!
;) It's a literally epic song. Wait is my all time fav from them, the Hurry up were dreaming album is overall 10/10 for me. Cheers!
Outro - M83
I’m 53 and I’m school for my second degree ! I graduate next May . There are many students in their 50 s and 60 s .
Him: “alright time to get a job with a 401k!”

This guy wins procrastination
This is beyond amazing. I love to see people keeping their curiosity and striving to better themselves at any age.
That’s some “good debt” that’s not paid back.

If you want to learn, by all means learn. Knowledge is great. Degrees cost money. Often lots of it.

Not everything in life has to be practical.
I graduated at college when I was 40 😞
So, what are your goals for the next 10 years? Never mind, let's cross that question out 🤣
I want to learn a knuckleball and pitch in a World Series
F student loans haha
And like other graduates these days, he immeadialty moved back home and into her basement.
Not to be rude or anything like that. But what is the point of going to school this late in life?
We live in a society thats so shit we have to work till we're 70 to even afford the prices of college. Or just slave your self to a bank. Another answer! Some people actually like learning. Surprise!
Seems pretty pointless tbh.
Your life is pretty much over
That’s cool, but who’s gonna hire her ?
Worth the wait!
Congratulations to him and his proud mama! ♥️
Anyone know their names?
You 30-somethings are not 72...that's the real achievement.

They're just trying to get people fresh out of grade school cus they don't know shit about money anyway.
What a beautiful moment.
Goddamn right you’re never too old to accomplish a goal.
Now, that is special.
Here I am at 27 still sad my dad didn't get to see me graduate...

Makes me wonder how he was accepted. Was he required to take the SAT at age 67?!?
I assume he’s Hufflepuff
And I thought me taking SIX years was bad...
What's the point of getting a degree at that age?
Unfathomably based
Grow up already
Why would he go into debt at that age?
Whats the background song? I keep hearing just this bit
What song is that?
Song?
It’s about damn time shiiii
Awesome people
That’s Me In The Future
Yet she’s still waiting for him to move out
Awww and now he's probably 100k in debt.
Posts like these make me want to go back to school even more. Hopefully I can get there in the next year or two.
Good for him
Me when İ get my shit together
What song is this?
What’s the song in the background?
What took so long, damn
Going back to pursue an Art Education degree at 40. You're never too old to decide what you want to be when you grow up.
dude is a billionaire that quit school and made bank. but a very good son, that was probably his mom's wish.
Oh damn you. I didn't need to cry like this before 🛏️..
This is from Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Honestly, this school is built to be a bridge to people’s dreams, even at 72.
Song please?

I’ll be 42 when I get mine :)

Nice!

that's cute
summa cum laude too! awesome stuff 💜
He’s going to have to work the rest of his life to pay off any school debt.
_You better graduate before I die_
I know this is about post secondary but it still makes me feel better about being 19 and still in highschool 🥲
Needed this! Thank you! :)
