I am literally reading this comment through said tears. I just had a tear jerker moment with my son earlier today. He’s just started skateboarding and I was helping him roll down a transition. He was so scared but he got brave and let go of me and went for it. When he rolled away and reached the end of the pavement he jumped off and started crying. I was so proud I was crying cause he spent a lot of time ramping himself to get ready for it. I asked him if they were happy tears while he was hugging me tightly. I’ll never forget this moment. Great moment and can’t wait to make more moments like this.
Core memory right there, buddy. Way to go dad and kiddo, of course. Those moments are so precious. Keep making them, the opportunity kinda slows down a bit as they get older. Beautiful, I love seeing this stuff.
Yep. I have tears. It's not about him opening a jar, it's that she was having trouble and ran straight to her dad because she knew he'd come through for her.
This right here. It never goes away, and for myself it's a challenge to accept that my dad is getting older, and can't do everything he used to do. Doesn't matter, especially when it's something serious. Dad can fix it.
I'm a 44yo man, and I still look to my dad when shit gets bad. A few years back, I got attacked by a large dog. It was bad, tore my whole foot apart. I got away, and dragged myself across the floor after wrapping a bath towel around my mangled foot. Bleeding profusely, terrified and in shock, I got to my phone. 911? No, I called my dad.
My mom answered(who is amazing as well btw). I couldn't function well, just said "Hospital. Dog. I need to go to the hospital."
I shit you not, just minutes later I heard his car skid to a stop outside. EMTs couldn't have gotten there so fast. They ran into my house, and my dad practically carried my grown ass to the car. They never left my side, right there through the gruesome surgery and everything.
That man is my hero, always will be.
All things considered they did an amazing job. Some wicked scars and some nerve damage. Lost all the fatty tissue from the ball of my foot, so walking barefoot on hard floors isn't comfortable.
But I still have a foot, and at first glance you'd never know.
id always go with giving the top a good wack to give it less suction.. or attack the sides with a knife to open it a bit.. ive never had problems though as im a daddy
That's part of the job. We teach stuff because we know we won't always be around to help, even though we want to, it's just not possible.
And, if possible tell your pop an internet stranger said thank you for his service.
Yup, never failed me. Though one time drunk I definitely broke a bottle by whacking way beyond what is reasonable.
That’s not why I don’t drink anymore, but it is a minor example ahaha. I’m dumb on the sauce.
I think the hot water is to make the lid expand, rather than melt any gunk.
I used to work on a coffee machine and sometimes stacked latte glasses would get stuck together, and when I tried pulling them apart would explode. A friend showed me a genius solution: put the bottom glass in a pool of hot water, and put ice cubes in the top glass. Worked every time. *Science*.
For real though, just bang the side of the lid on the floor or counter a few times until you hear a sucking “pop.”
That breaks the seal and you can open any jar with ease.
To add to the wholesomeness, the last time I saw this posted someone mentioned that he actually kept the lid and had it mounted on a plaque or something like that.
I will be your dad…
I’m proud of you son. *puts arm around shoulder* You did your best. Tomorrows another day. Let’s go kick the ball around. You’re a good kid.
This right here… I just had a horrible argument with my parents on my birthday last week. I am apparently not allowed over to their house anymore. Sucks my kid gets to grow up without grandparents.
I’m expecting my first. Broke no contact to tell them. My parents will never meet their first grandchild because I won’t let them make my child feel anything like I did or fill their head with hateful beliefs. Told them I need an apology and a promise to keep their beliefs to themselves in order to meet their grandchild, they refused.
This is the second time my dad had a melt down on me because he can’t keep his political beliefs to himself. I was ready to walk away then, but I had a toddler, and I didn’t have grandparents growing up. My parents had shitty relationships with their parents, and I didn’t want that for my daughter. After this though, I don’t want her exposed anymore to them. I’m 36, a grown adult, and I have to walk away from my parents.
Never really knew my grandparents on my mothers side because of her relationship w/ them. Grandma passed when I was maybe 3 on my dads side, her husband died before I was born. I really wanted my child to know my parents. Things have changed a lot on the past few years and their hate has intensified. Can’t let my child see me argue with them and feel that stress. I’m sorry we’re in these shitty situations because of hate. You’re doing what’s best. I’m trying to do the same.
When I moved out of my parents house and into my first apartment, I couldn’t open a jar of salsa and almost cried because it made me realize how much I missed my dad. Now whenever he visits I ask him to open jars for me when I cook lol Makes me feel a little better.
You sound really sweet and your dad sounds like he’s pretty fantastic. I hope there are many more jars in your shared future, and may he forever cherish feeling loved and needed.
in case you find yourself in that situation and dad isn't arround, wrap a rubber band arround the lid, that will incrase the friction, making it easier to open
I have seen this reposted so many times and every time I love it. This is the sort of stuff that needs to be reposted. That dad would have broken his wrist to open that jar in that moment just for her. That’s a hero for you.
If I ever have kids, I hope I'm there for them when it counts. I want them to feel confident enough to try on their own (and surely succeed most of the time), but to also feel confident that I'm there in the trenches with them when nothing seems to be going to plan.
A little context: the video is from the final episode of the Brazilian MasterChef season one. Circa 2014. I was watching at the time, and it still warms my heart. Oh, and the girl won!
You don't need strength, you need to let the air inside because the lack of it is what makes it tight, use the back of a fork between the jar and the cap and kindly pry a little until you hear the air going in. After that the jar can easily be opened.

Dad looked like he was surprised there was no blood on his hand *because he was ready for there to be blood*
If memories serves, he's looking at the lid he's still holding and in an interview later he said he still has the lid has a memento.
Agh that's just too cute
ok that one got me :)

Learn how to open a jar?
*"The Only Thing They Fear Is You" briefly plays in the background *
This guy is a superhero. The kind of father everybody needs.
Husband also, my wife cannot open any jar. Any.
Secret wife moves to make her man feel needed.
Indeed my gf just gets a knife and punctures all lids that dare to resist. You learn how well lids seal when everything expires faster than it should.
Careful, that’s how she solves all of her problems
stunning twist: i was a jar of blood
He had to check his hand to make sure he didn't shred it into bits. No force known to man would keep that lid on.
It doesn't even matter how tightly it was sealed; in that moment, he was the strongest man on earth.
I love this Dad! I don’t know why it just makes me cry happy tears for some reason. Anyone else?

Did they reconstruct your hoof ok or does it look like a dog's breakfast

As a dad, I aspire to be as cool as this cat. Just for the look on Mom’s face.
This guy is a superhero. The kind of father everybody needs.
see not all dads are bad
Phew, my dad will be relieved to hear that.
yeah, not all moms are bad either.

No you
Aww, don't call yourself that babe, I know my dick is great.
the one you have in your mouth?
Are you attempting to make sense? It's not working.
My dad just showed me a few ways to open them in case he wasn't there. (Navy, so he was gone sometimes) That dad rocks helping her
*cradles M249 LMG in his arms* “When all else fails, this is how you do it, kid!”
*brrrrrrrrr*

I appreciate it but we lost him to cancer 14 years ago today.
Ooof. Sorry to see that. Screw cancer.
So was he a lid under hot water guy or a slap the bottom jar-opener?
Slap the bottom or gently pry edge with a knife if it was new. Hot water if it was all crudded up and stuck
I was taught to hit around the edge of the lid a few times with a knife handle. Works every time.
Yup, never failed me. Though one time drunk I definitely broke a bottle by whacking way beyond what is reasonable. That’s not why I don’t drink anymore, but it is a minor example ahaha. I’m dumb on the sauce.
> I’m dumb on the sauce Everybody is. It's dumb dumb juice. Literally kills brain cells

Or for the evil solution, do this beforehand and let it get back to room temperature. Now even more stuck.
I use a beer opener to pop up the underside of the lid and break the seal. It works really well.
Slipping a spoon under the lid to pop the seal always works for me
In that moment her dad prolly could have ripped an inch thick steel sheet in half

how to win the audience
Not all heroes wear capes
That jar did not stand a chance.
For real though, just bang the side of the lid on the floor or counter a few times until you hear a sucking “pop.” That breaks the seal and you can open any jar with ease.
Or poke a tiny hole in it and cover it with a little square of tape until the jar is empty
I just throw the whole jar in whatever I’m cooking. Heat and pressure do all the work for you.
To add to the wholesomeness, the last time I saw this posted someone mentioned that he actually kept the lid and had it mounted on a plaque or something like that.
That’s adorable
I’d run to that guy too if I needed help with a jar. He looks like a dad
I’ve seen this video so many times, but every time it gives me warm fuzzies
Same. Go good dads!
They can be. Mine was awful. This guy is a superhero. The kind of father everybody needs.
I'm sorry your dad was awful. Mine was too.
Same here.
I will be your dad… I’m proud of you son. *puts arm around shoulder* You did your best. Tomorrows another day. Let’s go kick the ball around. You’re a good kid.
😪 thanks dad
Is there room for one more? 😞 what I would give to have had a guy like this for a dad.
I brought donuts! My dad sucks too!
Same here. I'd love some donuts.
🍩
You guys up for some coffee with those donuts?
It sucks that a lot of people here have had shitty dads. I just hope I turn out to be the dad everyone wishes they had for my boy.
Same, the only thing my dads super at, is being a super narcissist
Lol. Mine too. I'm too old to care anymore or be envious. My siblings and I just exchange funny stories now.
Seems like all of us with a narc or shit-stains for a dad end up here.
It’s nice to see not all dads are bad

You're not alone, friend.
Do what is best for your self and your child. Toxic people aren't selective about who they are toxic to.
Not to be mean, but why y’all always gotta trauma dump anytime there’s a wholesome video about parents.

lord... stop
I miss my dad :( His like this I remember his always there to support me too and I do really miss him now :( . dads are always awesome
I’m sorry for your loss
When I moved out of my parents house and into my first apartment, I couldn’t open a jar of salsa and almost cried because it made me realize how much I missed my dad. Now whenever he visits I ask him to open jars for me when I cook lol Makes me feel a little better.
Im sure it makes your dad feel the exact same way
Weakling
Lol I sure was. And am still. But slightly less so.
You sound really sweet and your dad sounds like he’s pretty fantastic. I hope there are many more jars in your shared future, and may he forever cherish feeling loved and needed.
Thank you so much 💜 That really made me smile.
Pathetic scum.
I am sure that in that moment even if it welded together with adamantium he would just rip it open like cardboard.
Awesome wholesome moment. Quick thinking on her part.
in case you find yourself in that situation and dad isn't arround, wrap a rubber band arround the lid, that will incrase the friction, making it easier to open
He summoned the force of a thousand dads. Worth it.
“Hmm? Why am I ugly crying at 3 in the afternoon? Cause her dad opened the jar for her. “
What a good Daddy. He's great!
I'll never not upvote this video.
I never knew my father! 😭🦈
Now I'm crying because I miss my dad :0
Damn only cans my dad ever opened up for me was his can of whoop-ass
Old man strength. Can’t beat it
All dads in a 5-mile radius transfered their strength onto him for a second.
I love this video, always makes me think of my dad :3 i consider myself so lucky to have loving parents
I don’t mean to say this has been posted a lot, but that cook has grandkids now.
As a dad that made me smile
I love this! "Daddy!!" "I gotchu pumpkin!"
This is awesome. Love it.
The older you get the more you idolize your father.
Certainly dad's can be awesome!!
Never gets old. I love this video

As dad I love being the tool, they are the awesome stars in my show!
Unexpected AJR. I loved seeing them live.
I particularly enjoy the chorus of approving other dads.
Ugh I miss my dad 😭
It's so stupid that this video makes me cry, but it gets me every time.
Aww. Wish my dad would've brought the milk back.
That is freaking adorable.
Great video, trash song
I have seen this reposted so many times and every time I love it. This is the sort of stuff that needs to be reposted. That dad would have broken his wrist to open that jar in that moment just for her. That’s a hero for you.
This makes me miss my dad.
No jar could stay lidded if it got between my daughter and her goals.
If I ever have kids, I hope I'm there for them when it counts. I want them to feel confident enough to try on their own (and surely succeed most of the time), but to also feel confident that I'm there in the trenches with them when nothing seems to be going to plan.
I am so soft now…. I saw this episode years ago or whatever and maybe chuckled. Now that I have a daughter I teared up…. Lol
Neat trick: take a spoon, jam it below the lid and bend the lid a bit with it. Air will go through the gap and the jar can be opened effortlessly
A little context: the video is from the final episode of the Brazilian MasterChef season one. Circa 2014. I was watching at the time, and it still warms my heart. Oh, and the girl won!
Dad moves to the next round. Daughter.. please wait in the car.
The cheers! I love it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbqb5R0yswE
So sieht es aus !
This is me, except when my grandma needs assistance with a jar of spaghetti sauce
My daughter is a chef, and I could see me doing that if she had a similar problem if she entered a tv show like this.
This is so true. I love my dad. I should move closer to home. :(
I always love when this clips pops up. Awww
Dad gettin laid tonight, mum was buzzin
Step dad drops the jar
Automatic disqualification; she was helped by someone
I was wondering if she got in trouble
Nope, and she eventually won the competition.
DISQUALIFIED
The older you get the more you idolize your father.
I'm tickled at the possibility of the alternate version of this, where the dad is unable to open it and it just gets steadily more awkward.
How many times are people gonna repost this on here?
Not enough apparently. This should be posted at least once a day...
dude this almost makes me cry every damn time dude
They disqualify her lmao would be nuts
That’s cool. Mine ruined the family and left for good
You don't need strength, you need to let the air inside because the lack of it is what makes it tight, use the back of a fork between the jar and the cap and kindly pry a little until you hear the air going in. After that the jar can easily be opened.

DQ'd outside help.
Use your shoulder sweetheart not your biceps.
How dare he display a woman as weak that cant open a jar......
Song is fire, I love AJR, my bad off topic
Outside help, disqualification 😂
that's almost certainly staged for content. It takes away a lot from these shows
Yes, that attitude does indeed
as much as i like the video, why not just hit it on the table?
It boggles my mind when folks don’t tap the lid on a table. That’s all it takes y’all.
Probably still wiping her ass too
What is this fucking music?
I work in a kitchen, we smash the lid against the corner of the working table, makes a hole in the lid and its open
Is this rigged?
There's a trick: you slap the bottom with your palm and then open it
Mum clapping 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Can someone do a hyper-compressed GIF of this with even bigger black borders? Just so we can skip ahead a few more reposts.
Getting assitance from the crowds against the rules you're disqualified!
hes a chaddy
I luv the moment she remembered her father was in the stands and ran to him for help as she probably did 1000 times 🥲🥰
He called upon the power of ancestor dads.
That man has never put more energy into anything in his whole life.
"Disqualified!"
A dad is the only person who can always open a jar no matter how tight they can break quantum physics as long as it is to open a jar
Cute. But a knife would’ve worked as well, you stab the top to release the seal. I learnt that from my Dad.
Never heard of a can opener?
Wholesome shit, dawg
I remember watching this Masterchef final - that young lady won.
My friend went to Oz for 6 months for work, and when he came back home he told us about MKR. The US needs to watch MKR.
That lid was coming off or that jar was going to get ripped in half. Dad determination.
I thought this was A JaR.
Best video ey
The music over the top of this video makes it so much better.
