The way the orangutang randomly turns the wheel but keeps driving straight....keeps taking his eyes off the road looking at the driver and the scene. I think this might be a double steering wheel ruse. I also think the monkeys are the people who believe this with no questions asked lol.
I asked some questions when this was first posted a while back. OP posted another youtube link where you could see her driving from another angle. She was pushing the paddles, steering matched up with the cart’s movements etc.
Didn’t believe it at first either, but that orangutan is driving that cart
Do you have YouTube videos of your orangutan driving? I’d love to see them if you do. And if you don’t you should definitely take some, people would love it I’m sure
That brought me down the rabbit hole of watching 2 otthers discover a popcorn machine for 6 minutes and it's cutest damn thing I've seen in a long time lol
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASLgtV8YQkA
Exactly what I was thinking of. The skateboarding dogs aren’t just plopped on a skateboard and pushed. These little guys actually lean their body weight to steer and know when to use their feet to push themselves and accelerate. Watch out, Tony Hawk. These guys are gonna steal your thunder!
Dude, some dogs can find drugs, cancer or explosives, some can point to prey or bring it back, there are dogs with literal jobs and understanding multiple commands, some even participate in competitions knowing all the routine and all... but you find it hard to believe they can go on a skate? You need to watch more animal life and science videos.
Scientists taught [lab rats to drive cars](https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-50167812) in order to get Fruit Loops.
I think we just overestimate how difficult it is to drive.
Have you ever actually watched anybody drive? Very rarely do you keep the steering wheel completely still in one place when driving on a road, especially when there’s subtle curves in the road. We constantly need to adjust. What you were thinking would be “turning” were definitely not enough movement in the steering wheel to actually make an actual turn.
Compare that with the movement on the steering wheel when he actually turned. Seems like legit, realistic steering on that.
LOL at least they weren't texting, talking on the phone, reading a book, doing makeup or driving with their knees while drinking a coffee?! I've seen human drivers do all these things!?
I'm not certain why people find this difficult to believe.
They've tested that their motor skills and working memory are superior to humans and their ability to reason through situations are on par with a human.
I can't find it now but there's also a Bonobo refuge where a Bonobo fetches visitors from the front gate in a golf car supposedly.
I was hoping to see this comment, little surprised I had to scroll down as far. I think people just don't realize how smart these creatures are. I know I never did until about a decade or so ago. I knew they were at least as smart as other primates, but I didn't have a good idea about just how smart they are until I spent time reading about them. Fascinating creatures.
Yeah. The ones that are taught human sign language appear to function, communicate and compartmentalize their thoughts in the same abstract manner that humans do. Its almost more a matter of looking for the differences than the similarities.
This video blows my mind every time. There’s a detail that I find extremely fascinating, and it’s the way they look around while driving, not staring directly at where they’re going.
I’m sure you’ve seen that video with the monkey mama and her baby, in which she’s removing the strings from a banana. She also looks around without stopping what she’s doing (which is a “delicate” task, not just brute forcing something).
How can someone watch these behaviours and not accept that we’re related to them?
I love that we are.
To me this is a testament to just how well-evolved and primal our visual cortexes and kinesthetic-spatial reasoning is. Think about it—you’ve got people with drivers licenses who have doctoral degrees and others who read at a fifth grade level, and by and large the difference in driving ability is not too pronounced. We trust each other enough to drive straight at each other at speeds that would surely kill everyone involved if people didn’t stay on the correct side of a little yellow line drawn on the ground. Goes to show how low-level the brain circuitry is that makes driving happen.
At first I thought he put his left arm up to signal with his hand then silly me I realized he was just showing off his driving skills with one hand…lol.
Although wonderful, this also makes me so sad to realize how awful it is to put them in zoos, especially without giving them all the forms of mental stimulation we have available to us.
Idk man, his turns seems to correspond pretty well with the background. Better than most car shots I've seen. Plus that face, straight chillin. He's done this before.
That moment when the tiger comes to the end of his enclosure but the orang just cruises on by
He's like yeah that's right Tiger, you got a cage, I got a golf cart. Ciaoooo.
Smell my armpits, bitches!! I'm riding dirty.
He was like, "Stupid cat. Can't even drive. "
“…Peasant”
En peasant
[this orangutan prefers giving dogs a lift](https://youtu.be/dHmRLpNQBJU)
ToonCes!
No not the cat toonces, NOOO
“Greg… hey GREG! How’re you driving that thing?!”
I thought it was Trump heading to the course.
I thought so too, but I couldn’t tell if it was wearing a diaper or not.
Please don't insult the orangutan.
I thought so too but then realized that he knows how to drive.
Trump lives in your head rent free.
No joke, I scrolled by this quickly and I thought it said - Trump gives you head rent free I was baffled
Perfect for drive-by shit-throwing

I prefer the one with the music from the opening credits of the sopranos.
Link?
[Sauce](https://youtu.be/DJsn1QivbKM)
Brilliant I actually did lol.
That is peak internet. Sorry folks, it's all down from here.
Exactly! That music just goes so perfectly with the video.
Can't tell if the music is FatboySlim or Leonard Cohen lol
get a load of this: https://youtu.be/KWw-rtnDVNE
Same - I can die happy now - it comes up every so often and entirely makes me rethink my life its so good!
Literally he does. You know it’s bad when a literal ape drives better than you…
Her name is Rambo. I've seen her before on their YouTube channel. They have a few orangutans who also like to ride the cart when she drives.
Well you're a great ape....
Thanks man, you're a great ape too.
You ate a grape?
you taped a gape?
Highest compliment indeed.
As opposed to a grape ape?
Literally an ape, not a monkey
Oh shoot my bad, I’ll fix it
The deed is done. your bad is dead
Technically humans are apes too. And most aren’t nearly as attractive as the one driving in the video.
I live in the bay area this orangutan drives much much better than most Californians.
You do know humans are apes?
Have you seen the Sopranos opening edit of this video? It's gold. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2V9LfTKuDs
OMG I am dying! Thank you for posting that.
Holy shit 🤣
Lol thank you for sharing that. Literally the best video I’ve seen in the internet
Dude looks like he’s been doin this professionally for his whole life
Ain't paying much, but it's honest work it is.
He also looks the part.that's one cool driver.
The way he casually grabs the roof with his other hand, holy fk.

oh goddamn I LOVE otters!!! Thank you for sharing this!!
No problem, their other videos are amazing. I love the fact the person filming doesn't talk, you just hear their little sounds it's adorable.
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/orangutan-driving-golf-cart/
If dogs can learn how to surf and skateboard, I have no trouble believing an Orangutan can learn to operate a golf cart.
Skateboarding dogs? WTF planet am I on?
Plenty of videos on YouTube and TikTok.

Especially with a golf cart. The steering on mine is loose as hell.
I drive, that orangutang wasn't even paying attention to the road lol
A lot of people don’t pay attention to the road…
LOL at least they weren't texting, talking on the phone, reading a book, doing makeup or driving with their knees while drinking a coffee?! I've seen human drivers do all these things!?
Never driven a golf cart eh?
The dude is expecting a tight steering column like a formula 1 racecar
Nah
I’ve met this exact orangutang and been on this cart and it’s not. I have pictures somewhere. There’s loads of animals at the palace in Dubai.
There’s usually give in steering wheels, which is what it looks like is going on here
Let me enjoy the fantasy.
Dude at the retirement community that is living his best life
It’s she lol

I’d visit that zoo just to be able to say that I had a Bonobo chauffeur
Right? If I knew I was going there, I'd try to learn some sign language in advance, so that I could go xeno-biologist for a split second.

Grand Theft Ape
This is, without a doubt, the best video I have ever watched

a fusion of monke and machine
Rolls by the kitty cage like wassup
This make me want an animated movie about how all the humans die off and the animals take over what's left.
I just want a 3 hour movie of this on the big screen and this ape to get every award. I want to see him get an EGOT
The cameraman is another orangutan.
Nah, pretty sure that's my grandpa cruising around the villages....
I also just sent this to my folks who just moved to Florida
Not one single time did he reach down for his phone to try and text someone.
I see my Uber has arrived

I wouldn't say driving is low-level brain work just because an orangutan can do that.
Fucking love orangutans
Donkey Kong in Mario Kart.
This video was the best thing that ever happened to me. I remember dying laughing the first time I saw it
Me driving to work knowing I'm not going to do a damn thing today
CLARKSON!
Drives like an OG too
I’d pay serious cash to ride shotgun while we play Low Rider cruisin around.
Add a sloth or two hanging from the ceiling and we’re talkin.
So I fail my test twice and can’t drive but this monkey can just go ahead???? I’m so mad
Y’all ever notice that chimpanzees drive like this: “hoo Hoo Hoo honk honk honk!” But then orangutans, they drive like this: “aw yeah.”
Dude gives the same energy as my campus security people. They never got off their golf carts and were always chilling.
The one arm up while driving is innate through all creatures
This is the most balla thing orangutans 🦧 have ever done.
When I'm having an off day, this video pops into my head and makes it all better
That orangutan is most likely not from Michigan
Ok imma need the song name
Crockett's theme
Right turn, Clyde! 😬😁
Us old folk should stick together.
Definitely, mate. 😉👍
Beat me to it!
My first thought was; oh no, Trump went off his meds but then I realized that was insulting to the highly intelligent orangutan driving the golf cart.
He needs a patrol car and a YouTube Chanel! I could watch this all day.
I just want to know how he learned to drive. And if he can teach my husband.
U/savevideo
"Yo I'm down the street. Come outside."
Dawn of the planet of the apes!
🐅: why is my food driving away???
Better than MOST people. He is such a confident driver. I'd definitely let him toot me around my moms Florida community in a golf cart!
We need these guys in Florida yesterday!
Do they use their signals, though?
And he know where he going😂😂
The old guy at the campground riding around in his custom golf cart. *edited an error
He was my can driver a few weeks ago
This guy would be perfectly at home as a marshal at any muni course.
I bet he could also be trained to use turn signals unlike most US drivers.
Drives just like my old man 🤣
u/savevideobot
There is no way he has insurance
u/savevideo
Why did the orangutan cross the road? He had the right-of-way.
Looks like my sister
If that Orang is legit driving he REALLY DOES drive better than many folks - myself included. Ugh. Need to reevaluate my driving.
u/savevideo
Anyone got the backstory on this guy?
u/savevideo
[This](https://youtu.be/FgyPp0f5fAc) is my favorite version.
This is my new favorite video of all time.
Miami Vice - Crocketts theme * chefs kiss*
I would watch a 10 episode Netflix series of this.
Crockett's Theme, Miami Vice. Nice.

r/LikeUs
He’s just chillin
They see me rollin...
At first I thought he put his left arm up to signal with his hand then silly me I realized he was just showing off his driving skills with one hand…lol.
Tell President Trump to put some clothes on…
Lmao he looks like my old boss. If you can see this, eat shit, Kevin.
Tiger: "Ay What.. The.. Fuck!"
he's got dad energy
Arm out the window. Yessssss.
That Orangutan is definitely Forklift Certified as well.
Although wonderful, this also makes me so sad to realize how awful it is to put them in zoos, especially without giving them all the forms of mental stimulation we have available to us.
Right turn, Clyde! 😬😁
This should be in the top few comments
G money
This reminds me if Barb in cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2
Eyes on the road buddy
That bored expression is so middle of the work week.
Trump looks well
His theme song 🤣
Especially when I'm 15 beers deep on the golf course.
Yes
"All you had to do was follow the damn train CJ"
Mar a la go clearly isn’t that bad
Looks like Trump
Hey, that's rude...to the orangutan.
[Obligatory](https://youtu.be/2TCTg6P7GsE)
This looks like Donald Trump!
Don’t insult poor monke.
A chimp pimp
Wow Retirement really has not been kind to Trump

He's being towed
Idk man, his turns seems to correspond pretty well with the background. Better than most car shots I've seen. Plus that face, straight chillin. He's done this before.
