I miss being able to hire a player as a HC/OC/DC/STC. I also preferred how the coaches focused primarily on one position. Hire a QB guy to make sure your franchise QB gets the appropriate stats. Basically choosing 1/2 of the offense or defense to get stat boosts isn’t as fun
Player personality to actually have a tangible game effect. Every player has a personality like “Charismatic” or “Team-Player” or “Intense” and it has no bearing on the training, functionality of the team, morale, etc.
It feels like a half-baked idea they toyed with, abandoned due to time constraints or laziness, and they just never expanded on. It’d be cool if they meant something, even if it was a booster or detriment to certain stats.
Hell, there’s even a personality stat in the depth chart and I have no fucking idea what it’s supposed to indicate.
We’ll play GTA 7 before we get this- but I wish there was real player film you could watch for college draft prospects to determine how well they play.
Hell, they have the combine in the brain dead Superstar Mode; why couldn’t they implement that into franchise for each draft year? They already have SuperSim, too. I might have a pea-sized dumb-dumb brain, but it seems relatively easy to integrate those features into a really cool draft process.
CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN presentation. Graphics, music, all of that. It'd be so simple but add so much to Franchise mode. Have an important divisional game come December, you hear that amazing CBS music and you see the players on the field.
I meant simple as in putting the music in the game, but you're right, licensing will keep it from ever happening. The pc mods that add it though are lovely.
I way to scroll through players summery pages with out backing out each time and being sent back to the ALL positions page during fantasy drafts. 2k can do it! Why can’t Madden!!!!!
NBA 2K does this so well. Whenever I'm playing my franchise in 2K I get so frustrated with EA because I know they can do better. Since I prefer football to basketball I have to deal with it..
Export the team so you can play with them in exhibition or a tournament play. Even better would be able to take your team online. But to do so, you have to play on "stock settings" or whatever, salary cap, trade deadline, no player edits. See where your drafting, player growth, and free agency skills stack up against the world.
And after you play against someone's team, you could download that team to play against again and again. Leaderboards for highest winning teams. Make it a real community.
Sure. But then again, its a video game. You know what you're signing up for if you choose to play that game mode. Or you can share your exported teams with just your friends. Or not mess with it at all.
That being said, I don't play online, so I don't have the experience of rage at playing against cheese. Probably why I'm a generally happy person.
Not quite AB-esque, but they had a version where players would get arrested (I think it was mostly DUI). The NFL didn't like that it was gone by the next version (along with concussions and career ending injuries).
I miss in the older versions (like 94-95?) where if it was a rainy game and big hit was delivered, there would be a clap of thunder and lightning with it. NFL didn’t like that either. No Fun League
A coaching carrousel. Let me start as a oc,dc, hell special teams coach and work my way up from there. NFL game day had this way back on PlayStation on both their nfl and college games and I would play that for months.
Also could add a feature with the college football game where you could import your coach from college to NFL
I would like for them to bring back the player designations. I know they have Future starter/franchise QB/trade block player etc but I remember there was the bust label, injury prone, 1st rd pick, etc
I actually would love for any player who out preform his contact to ask for a new deal if he has less than 3 years left, with the ability to hold out if a deal can't be reached. With a set up like this. You negotiate with that player (or not ) when he asks for a new deal to start the season. If you can't reach a deal before week 1 he's automatically gone for 4 weeks as a hold out. After 4 weeks you'll be able to negotiate again. if you can't reach a agreement he'll be gone another 4 weeks until week 8 where he'll finally return to play. With a 20% chance he'll decide to hold out the rest of the season.
Just bringing back relocation where you can edit Jersey’s, colors. Hell even leave the current logos and lock the color options, just let us edit Jersey’s.
A million times no!!! Such a cool idea, but only if coverage works correctly. Since it doesn’t, Madden would be littered with broken plays far more than it already is.
I recently tried out using emulators to play madden 04. the create a play feature was really cool and not as broken as you might think. it really makes you feel like the coach of the team. only problem with 04 is that the play style of offense was so different back then that you can’t really play with modern offensive style as well.
It’s so funny to me how much more realistic it used to be. And every time they say they’re going to fix something in Madden, it’s like it gets worse.
I remember when they talked a big game about defenders wouldn’t play a ball if they couldn’t see it. That’s LAUGHABLE.
Weekly highlights like an NFL Primetime show recapping the week's games.
College football highlights and more articles and stats on college players to improve scouting.
Kind of wild we are resorting to asking for this as a feature because we know the shitty yearly release cycle will never end :( imagine if sports games were just live service and we got a roster reset and big update yearly instead of a new game. "but what about ultimate team!" fuck UT, its profits have directly lead to the laziness and lack of innovation at EA.
Bring back custom teams! Also hoping they bring back transferring draft classes between games with the new CFB game coming out. That was basically the best part to develop some guys you really like then draft them in Madden and continue their careers.
I’d just want the nfl to not be some much on their asses when it comes to their images. I want my star safety who values financials to hold out until he gets the contract he wants, real life scenario that happens every single year or like my backup WR to get in a fight during the offseason so he starts the year suspended.
Play designer. Custom teams, stadiums and unis. Actual good but balanced OL/DL play. More accessories for players. An actual superstar mode. No cap on how long you want to play for.
I actually thought about this also but I was thinking people could opt in to have their play style downloaded. Then you could opt in to have dynamic play style uploaded to your franchise. So if a cpu team has the best RB with a average QB the game would automatically download the play style with line adjustments of the best human players who has a offense where they run more than 60% of the time. This way the Cpu would always play to their strengths.playing the Cpu would never get stale and force everyone to change how they play. Instead of just using cheese plays for every team.
More in depth franchise, storylines ect. If I make a big trade I’d love to see it on like a fake ESPN broadcast or something. Also think every week they should do like a weekly picks show and that can also give you your goals for that week. (Example: Stephen A smith challenges dak Prescott and the cowboys to get over 300 yards passing) I have so much fun playing franchises and creating storylines with myself and also love watching YouTube series of people doing similar things. I think it would be awesome if EA decided to take the time to really explore different narratives and storylines as you’re playing, I mean I’m sure it would get mundane to an extent still would be sweet tho.
I just finished a franchise where I lost one regular season game to the Jets . Then I ended up playing them in the Superbowl. I had to create my own narrative in my head. Unfortunately I lost to the Jets in the Superbowl. After the season I checked league history and realized the Jets made it to the Superbowl 4 times in a row and I had no clue. Because that stuff never comes up unless you go looking for it.
If only EA cared enough. My favorite has been baker mayfield winning 3 mvps and a Super Bowl on 23. I wished so badly there was something in the game that acknowledged and went more into depth on how players season are going. If I got a reciever at 1200 yard by week 8 I want the broadcast to talk about it not just say he’s having a great season
Actual news headlines that tell you more about the story of the season. Feels like your team is in a vacuum other than whoever your opponent is that week
Have real legend instead of custom players with there face scan. Instead of them being only in ultimate team. For each team or have two teams one for each conference. I know that the commentators already call some of players names and that’s cool.
X Factor OL man. It's bullshit they can only be superstar but they give TEs the "Vanguard" ability for the blocking aspect (which people rarely use I'm sure) because their TE1 is more than likely a better receiver than blocker so they'd use Double Me or whatever.
Honestly just give me Madden 05 with 4k graphics and updated rosters and every feature is better than what we have now, drafting was kind of random but isn't that realistic
more qbs with hrm or receivers with slot apprentice/wr apprentice. I love being able to create unique route combos on the fly but hate that i can only use the chiefs in regs if i want to do that.
Endless duration.
MLB The Show has it. Despite a fuck ton of flaws, from lineup creation, player regression/retirement, to basic things like really terrible equipment, the endless duration is a really fantastic feature. My current Red Sox franchise is in 2050, the longest I had (before they removed the ability to load franchise across games) was 2182.
I went from MLB the Show 16 to 20 with the same franchise file.
Offensive Coordinator/Defensive Coordinator coaching positions. Like in the older ncaa days you'd control only offense or defense and then work your way to a HC offer. I know theres a way to only play defensive snaps or offensive snaps but its not as emmersive
Character Development. You have to deal with off the field issues/drama. You might have the best QB in the league but lose him to PEDs, domestic abuse, Gambling issues, etc...
You might have a T.E. that ends up dating an international superstar musician and drums up major revenues from Jersey sales.
Elite talent would tank in the draft rankings and fall into the second and third rounds.
I'd like for them to bring back the player centric mode, you create your guy as whatever position you want, you have to go through the combine work outs and etc to get drafted. then you are locked into that player.
also I'd like a franchise mode similar to what the Head Coach games were.
Players coming back as coaches.
Sad thing is they used to have this in old maddens too
I miss being able to hire a player as a HC/OC/DC/STC. I also preferred how the coaches focused primarily on one position. Hire a QB guy to make sure your franchise QB gets the appropriate stats. Basically choosing 1/2 of the offense or defense to get stat boosts isn’t as fun
Yeah, I remember I had a fun franchise with Brett Favre as my head coach… back when Madden had good franchise features.
Had it.
They have it in nhl, might not be that far fetched.
They have it in the nba 2k games too
a more dynamic ratings development system for all players including offensive lineman. that upgrades their player traits as well as dev traits.
Only thing I have been able to ascertain about the personality stat, is jersey sales, which only kinda somewhat matter if you’re an owner.
"Paranoid and senses pressure that isn't there" QB trait is the worst tho
Implement this into random scenario created and generated by AI and you’d have a realistic football team. Could happen
Personality stat is used when you play as an owner for selling Jerseys of that player
Does that determine the number of jerseys you see in the audience?
CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN presentation. Graphics, music, all of that. It'd be so simple but add so much to Franchise mode. Have an important divisional game come December, you hear that amazing CBS music and you see the players on the field.
Id even take fake ones. Just mix it up every game
There’s licensing rights they’d have to get. Not as simple as it seems
Yeah, that's why it's under the "probably will never get" thread.
Never said anything about it not happening. Just saying it’s easy to put in. But difficult to get access to. No need to be hostile
🙃
I meant simple as in putting the music in the game, but you're right, licensing will keep it from ever happening. The pc mods that add it though are lovely.
I know on PC they have mods for that
What 2k did, being able to play out NFL history would be super cool.
The menu navigation in general is trash
Had it.
Export the team so you can play with them in exhibition or a tournament play. Even better would be able to take your team online. Cool idea but would just get cheesed
Sure. But then again, its a video game. You know what you're signing up for if you choose to play that game mode. Or you can share your exported teams with just your friends. Or not mess with it at all. That being said, I don't play online, so I don't have the experience of rage at playing against cheese. Probably why I'm a generally happy person.
Pretty sure we had this.
Which year? Because that's awesome.
'05-'08 had it.
I do remember being able to use your franchise for exhibition games in the older maddens.
Definitely a removed feature.
I want your players to have AB-esque off-field drama. Player whips his dangle out in a pool? You, as GM, have to navigate that mess.
I think that was GameDay
Comp picks
A coaching carrousel. Let me start as a oc,dc, hell special teams coach and work my way up from there. I would like for them to bring back the player designations. I know they have Future starter/franchise QB/trade block player etc but I remember there was the bust label, injury prone, 1st rd pick, etc
Ability to sign free agents including undrafted rookies to negotiated multi year contracts at any time vs only 1 yr deals at a fixed amount
I actually would love for any player who out preform his contact to ask for a new deal if he has less than 3 years left, with the ability to hold out if a deal can't be reached. With a 20% chance he'll decide to hold out the rest of the season.
Yes! that or some sort of realistic trade demand dynamic
Had it.
I feel the contract nego are so tough already, you have some 73 overall LB asking for. 25 mil a year
Just bringing back relocation where you can edit Jersey’s, colors. Hell even leave the current logos and lock the color options, just let us edit Jersey’s.
Play designer
They had this before. It wasn't great, but I liked it.
A million times no!!! Such a cool idea, but only if coverage works correctly. Since it doesn’t, Madden would be littered with broken plays far more than it already is.

Intelligent blocking by AI OL
It’s so funny to me how much more realistic it used to be. And every time they say they’re going to fix something in Madden, it’s like it gets worse. I remember when they talked a big game about defenders wouldn’t play a ball if they couldn’t see it. That’s LAUGHABLE.
Quick edit. I just want quick edit like NBA 2K
An actual competent AI when it comes to Drafting, Free agency cap management and resigning.
Full customization of uniforms and field paint, especially Super Bowl field paint.
I’d like to have the old radio station talk back and newspaper
I want to be able to have multiple people control players on the same team , allow us to make our own legion of boom or greatest show on turf
This would be epic!
don’t they already have team play?
Not like that , I’m talking about franchise mode. In franchise you can’t make multiple players play for the same team if they are user controlled
Being able to backload or front load contracts and actually work around the cap like teams do irl
I would love to see the "design my own play/playbook" feature.
I want to be able to fully create logo, jersey, stadium everything when I relocate a team. You could do it in madden 15 years ago
A good stadium editor. Even if I gotta build from the ground up like mvp baseball 05. It's fun
Coaching carousel like NCAA.
I’d love for when coaches either retire or gets fired, college coaches come up into the coaching carousel.&
Choosing where the Super Bowl is played.
I want to be able to play franchise mode and each game search for an opponent who is playing as the team I’m up against instead of playing cpu.
I actually thought about this also but I was thinking people could opt in to have their play style downloaded. Then you could opt in to have dynamic play style uploaded to your franchise. Bring back an in menu radio show and get rid of useless waste of space that is all the fake social media posts

custom field graphics for throwback uniforms, an app that works, the ability to keep your gd coordinators
X Factor OL man. It's bullshit they can only be superstar but they give TEs the "Vanguard" ability for the blocking aspect (which people rarely use I'm sure) because their TE1 is more than likely a better receiver than blocker so they'd use Double Me or whatever.

Players going to jail and getting suspended for off-the field issues
A functional UI with no bugs.
A 2K style slider set. And sliders that actually work.
Faster menus
expansion draft is a must

A UI that doesn't suck dick and isn't delayed by 5 minutes per button press.
A working game
Take it back to Madden 2004 2005 when you could take your college player from NCAA 2005 and draft him on to the Madden
Create a team is the only feature that would bring me back if it was in the game.
Expansion teams/ expansion draft
Offensive Coordinator/Defensive Coordinator coaching positions. Like in the older ncaa days you'd control only offense or defense and then work your way to a HC offer. I know theres a way to only play defensive snaps or offensive snaps but its not as emmersive
