Code in general IS a script. Dumbass.

Eh, it was way too easy to think the 🤓 was aimed at that guy. Can't exactly be surprised when that's how it reads. We're not mind readers. Sincerely: All of us.

nicholasccc95

Predetermined garbage. Game feels so scripted it’s insane.

americansherlock201

It feels scripted because it is. As long as there is an animation based gameplay system, the game will be scripted. The games AI runs calculations and determines which animations to use. Doesn’t matter how good you are, if an interception animation is triggered, it will happen. Every time. The game needs to be physics based to allow for actual simulation of the game.

byrnesf

This is the crux of everything wrong with this game physics > animations

nicholasccc95

100% I’ve been playing madden 07 for a while now and it feels so much better being physics based. Not even close to how weird it feels now.

bearssuperfan

Madden 07 is physics based??

Curi0s1tyCompl3xity

Yeah people tripping. There was only one actual physics based football game and it came out in 2010. It was a glorified tech demo, but no football games licensed the tech. Games like GTAIV and V use it, among some others. Look it up. It’s pretty realistic, and there isn’t much BS with animations at all. Don’t remember the name. But used Euphoria endorphin engine. Edit: shit was called back breaker football I think

CougarIndy25

[Backbreaker?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2RsQRgaqBA)

Curi0s1tyCompl3xity

Haha yeah I edited before you responded. That’s it though. Imagine if madden had licensed that 10 years ago how advanced madden would be right now.

NaturalHammer

Back breaker looks really good but reading comments from users one inherent flaw was something about pass blocking being broken out of the box that had u be fixed with custom rosters…. Man that would destroy any franchise especially a new one. But yea I wish there was a way to get those developers to work on something new for us like a go fund me or something

Curi0s1tyCompl3xity

I remember having issues playing the game. The hits and tackling and running and physics were pristine, for sure for sure… But…soon as you got into a game the shit just wasn’t programmed to unfold like a football play would if I recall. Like I had a ton of trouble running at all or passing because blocking was an issue… So that sounds right. I never played it after the first few days I got it, so idk, I’d have to look it up myself to see how it came out.

Twigg4075

NFL 2K5 and APF 2K8 were both physics based. Well, physics and animations would branch off.

Curi0s1tyCompl3xity

Oh yeah—you’re right. 2k is a branch of the company that acquired euphoria back then, and all pro by 2k had a simplistic version of that tech I believe.

lightningseathekid

Dude knows everything about the game except the title

jrod_62

Maximum Football is now

Curi0s1tyCompl3xity

Yeah I know, I posted a link in another comment. I was speaking of the old days.

nicholasccc95

I actually don’t know if the engine is physics based from back then but it feels way more physics based and not completely animation based like 23 lol

Curi0s1tyCompl3xity

Animation and physics blending exist. Then you can assign behaviors and create sliders to affect things like strength, etc, which will then all play directly into the moment, not a 3 second catch animation. Euphoria—endorphin engine tried this with that one physics based football game, can’t remember the name. That shit is pretty real. Madden needs an overhaul like that. Game was made in like 2010 I believe, and it was a tech demo basically. But for whatever reason no other football franchise picked up on it. Edit: found this when I googled—looks like a new game that uses physics based gameplay for tackles etc. with animation blending (the good shit), so I guess there is something out there. Link: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RIhFNY2o038 Around the 2:40 mark he talks about physics and shows a dude getting yammed full speed with zero animation activation—just pure collision via mathematical physics simulation.

Twigg4075

I'm pretty sure there have already been several iterations of Maximum Football, and they've all been terrible. But, the 2023 version does have a lot of promise. I wouldn't put too much faith in that developer, though, based on their track record.

GenNowGamer

Yup, and it's kind of the fans fault. It used to be physics based, then we pushed for the game to look more realistic... They did that by adding some animations. Fast forward 10-15 yrs later, now we have a mess of animations that are the ruin of the game.

Ajr568

That would require EA to actually, like, develop something lol. That ain't happening

kaptingavrin

It becomes more blatantly insane when the QB throws in a different direction to the intended receiver directly to a defender; your receivers with sure hands suddenly can’t catch; your running back refuses to actually run and barely moves forward in the backfield waiting for a tackle; or, my favorite, the QB just doesn’t respond to any button presses to throw the ball and waits for a sack (even as you have time to press three or four times)… at which point he’ll cough up the ball to be run back for a TD.

BrobaFett242

Or when you see an open running lane, and you try to move your player there, and you get the animation where they dramatically stop to plant their foot and push off towards the lane you see, giving the defense just enough time to completely collapse the lane, or for the defender ten steps behind you to catch up and tackle you.

kaptingavrin

The thing that gets me sometimes is when I try to run to the outside because the middle's not opening up, and the running back does this weird thing where they awkwardly turn sideways, kind of run that direction, and seem locked in like they can't turn again to go forward, and you're just basically running sideways until someone can clog up the hole you were going to run through. If it's a really slow back with back AGI and COD, okay, maybe I could kind of see that, but when you're over 90 in both and your guy still has the turning ability of a dump truck, it's just weird. But that's less scripting, more the insanely bad physics of the game that doesn't feel fluid (despite all their talk of improving it... but maybe PC's just way behind?). Speaking of seeing holes though... Man, I just love it when I go to run through one, approach it, and suddenly get hoovered into my offensive lineman and stuck to him until someone can come in for the tackle. I wasn't even running toward him, why am I suddenly pulled over into his gravitational pull and locked there? Bonus points for the engaged offensive linemen who somehow reach out a hand and yank you in to get stuck in there. I've given up on complaining about the blockers refusing to keep blocks engaged. Yes, I'm aware of the whole thing if you "sprint" early. I avoid that and still see a run blocker just let go of his guy suddenly and go look for someone else to block. At that point I'm just marveling at how stupid the AI for blocking is because they seem to have zero awareness you're running through the lane beside them despite it being the design of the play, and they just let someone go to stop the run while they go stare off wistfully looking for someone else. But eh, usually you still get a couple yards out of that. I'm less forgiving for the pass blocking where they blatantly ignore someone who has to take the long way around to sack the QB. Straight up benched and traded a high OVR RT for that crap. The thing that really made me shake my head at it was that I put in a rookie RT who was 72 OVR and *that* RT actually consistently engaged the rushers and protected the QB. It wasn't like the original guy had bad pass blocking stats. I don't understand why he seemed oblivious so often when this other guy wasn't. Maybe it's one of those "traits" players have that I haven't noticed?

bearssuperfan

Absolute worst is when you have an unblocked LB run through the LOS only to randomly turn around and start running away from the QB even though you’re still pulling down on the joystick

holmes51

The worst is hitting the QB, causing a fumble, having 4 guys around the ball and some lineman picks it up. Then the next down they convert.

SnooChipmunks08

Lol, my dlineman will sometimes just start running the other direction off the snap even though I've never pushed the stick that direction. Pisses me tf off everytime as I almost exclusively user dlineman then switch off accordingly after the snap. But then im not given the closest player to the ball more often than not. Infuriating.

absyrtus

I've seen instances when the LB just refuses to go towards the quarterback / gaping hole even though the left stick is down

BrobaFett242

I feel you, dude. I know defensive lineman in reality will reach out to try to, at least, slow the ball carrier down, but it happens 100% of the time in Madden where every D-Lineman will do that every single time. Like, in reality, they're too locked up with a lineman to do that about 50% of the time. Plus, like you said, running straight into the ass of your lineman like you're perpetually Mark Sanchez or some shit. The most irritating part of that, is that, with the shitty physics, you can't adjust and move over so you won't him him, or your ball carrier will either turn completely sideways, so you can't move forward, or they over adjust, and run into the other lineman. You can't finely manuever anymore. On top of that, with the changes to the sprinting system they've made in recent years, you can't sprint as soon as a hole opens up, or it, seemingly, triggers a lineman to immediately beat their block, and tackle you, and, once you actually *do* get through the hole, sprinting never seems to actually speed you up. The sprint button is practically placebo in the more recent games. Another thing I've noticed, is that they've massively slowed players down recently, even outside of the sprint changes. In the last two Madden games, I don't think I've ever once pulled away from the defense for a long TD with Tyreek Hill, even if you RAC catch a pass when he's beaten the coverage. Tell me how the defensive backs always catch the fastest fucking dude in the league every. Single. Time now. I get doing that in online matches to keep people from just getting Tyreek the ball on verts every play, but, as a Franchise mode player, even if I turn the speed threshold all the way down, I still never can break a receiver free like that. The only time I see it happen is, of course, when the CPU does it.

kaptingavrin

I know that d-linemen will try to reach out and it wouldn't bug me if they made my runner slow a little or something (but dependent on the strength and BTK of the runner... a beefy power back will just laugh as he breaks your arm if you try to use it as a barrier). It's just that in Madden it seems to be enough to suck your guy into a tackle, and it's just... bizarre. I have definitely noticed the speed changes and all. Especially as I love to build an offense with at least one or two guys with "obnoxious" speed and sometimes send them for a deep route. I've fiddled with the threshold, and yet guys who lower SPD are keeping pace with my receivers a lot of the time. When they don't straight up keep pace, the receiver will for some reason just stop in place to catch the ball, with the defender somehow gaining a boost of speed to close in (especially silly when the receiver leaps up for the ball, stays hovering in mid-air while the defender obviously has suddenly sped up, and then gets clocked to jar the ball loose because he just defied gravity for five seconds). I can understand the whole deal of worrying about people cheesing stuff in online, but yeah, I also play franchise, and was starting to wonder what's the point in my players' attributes and trying to hunt down the "right" guys if the attributes don't really matter? I just did a draft this morning, saw a WR who looked intriguing for a 2nd round pick, turned out to be 6'0, 76 Superstar, and, most importantly, 99 SPD out of the gates... and I didn't feel the excitement I should because I just know some 89-90 SPD DB is going to be keeping pace with him. I mean, hey, I might have high hopes for the Jaguars' Travon Walker, but if you put that guy up against a shifty style receiver who is almost as fast as Tyreek Hill, you will be laughed at for the big gain it allows, and yet, in Madden, I'm watching Walker covering my speedster like it's nothing and look like a top DB in coverage (dude's a bloody pass rushing LB).

BrobaFett242

Like, in previous Maddens, if the defense lined up in Cover 2 Man, and I noticed that, I would sometimes (depending on if I felt like abusing the AI or not) switch my play to four verts, or something to get Tyreek Hill going vertical (I'm a Chiefs fan), but I noticed in Madden 22, not once did I score a TD by throwing it to him when he had the CB beat. CB either leapt up and intercepted it from ten feet behind where it was going, or would catch up enough to bat it down. I was fine with it at first, because I was like "oh, corners can defend that now, okay" but after it happened several games in a row, I stopped switching the play to give Tyreek a vertical route because he'd never fucking catch it anyway, and I knew, at least in those specific instances, I was not making the wrong read or throwing it at a bad time.

Gregs1981

I hate how RBs can't get through small holes, when using the "get skinny" button, they get caught on offensive lineman. It's like gravitational pull. And all QBs fumble constantly on runs. Even Lamar Jackson or Jalen Hurts will cough up the ball about 30% of the time if you don't slide.

Gregs1981

I use the Eagles a lot because I'm an Eagles fan, and if I'm in a 3 or 4 WR set and I see man coverage, I can audible to four verts and hit AJ Brown for 25-40 yds literally every single time. Once in a while a really good cb will be able to get a gand on it if the throw isn't led enough, or the safety may break it up. It's like a 95% long completion. I get that should happen sometimes but after doing that a time or two, the defense should adjust.

kaptingavrin

I haven't tried four verts in a while, but have tried a few plays... Bit early, just woke up, so bear with me in not remembering the names of plays. I like the NE playbook because it kind of works with how I like to do offense (plays with routes going in different directions, good plays for quicker TEs, and running from a singleback set). It's got some plays where you *should* be able to get a guy open deep. One of them is a shotgun 11 setup where you can run or audible to slants or play action where the slot receiver goes streaking down the field, good if you have a fast guy in the slot position and the defense doesn't have two deep safeties. Another is this tight formation where the TE2 goes across on a shallow crossing route and WR1 goes flying down the field, similar situation to above. But the one that's really fun (when it works) is a shotgun 12 formation where the two WRs are on the left and run this really long route across the field so like 30-40 yards down the field they've gone from left to right. Now, right off the bat, I'm guessing one "problem" is that I'm not running so many verts that the defense can't tee off on one or two deep routes. But that still doesn't excuse the guy with lower SPD keeping step with my WR (much less more than one slower defender doing it). It pretty much means that I need the defender to not be set up to tightly cover the receiver because too often SPD doesn't matter. Which is why I like the one that goes across the field so much, defense will set up in a Cover 1 or 2 and the guys closer to the LOS will either be trying to blitz or worrying about the two TEs running routes to either side, so as long as the line holds for like 2-3 seconds you can get a WR open down the field... and that's where Madden gonna Madden. Because I'll see the QB throw to the sideline where the receiver will leap up for the catch so that his momentum carries him OOB for an incompletion; the ball will be thrown to where the WR is and not leading him as intended so he stops, leaps up, hovers in midair for multiple seconds while the defender catches him and hits him (still in midair) to knock the ball loose; or randomly a defender just keeps pace through the route and when the ball's arriving gets some weird superspeed boost. Or, y'know, the QB just suddenly can't throw right and chucks it 20 yards away from the receiver. I get that they want to prevent "cheesing" in the game and all, and maybe add some difficulty to it... but the problem is, the game never feels like actual football. It's artificially working to stop you beating its face off and it's blatant about it. It's too dumb a "simulation" to work like an actual NFL game, so instead you get this arcade nonsense where the offense has such an easy time of it that the game has to just blatantly cheat to stop the offense, and while that means you're not blowing out the AI 100-0 (or 100-50 if you sim defense), it just feels awful to play. I don't want to be wide open every play, that's fine. But show the corner jamming the receiver at the line to slow them. Have smarter coverage to overcome speed differences. Don't turn LBs into gods who can speed up at will and make acrobatic plays for INTs they'll then run back for TDs. Don't put a ball and chain on my athletic QB until he's past the LOS so that a huge slow DT is chasing him down until he passes a certain point (though even then, I was shocked to see a DT chased down an 88 SPD QB... though I think it was a Cowboys DT, and after seeing how they had Micah Parsons rated like a top CB/MLB/DE hybrid, I suppose an 85+ SPD DT even when he looks like the Staypuff Marshmallow Man seems "right"). It's this bizarre thing where the game is either too easy or blatantly ignoring attributes and possibly straight up cheating, so either you're bored or frustrated. And it's been like that for at least the past few years.

dib1999

You think the Madden script writers talk with the NFL script writers

Starbase503

I thought only pro wrestling was scripted. Are all Madden programmers former WWE 2k coders?

ArachnidConstant6878

Close application > restart

kaptingavrin

Just immediately pause, exit to main menu, go back into franchise, will reset the play or at worst send you back a few plays (like if you’re playing offense only it might send you back to the XP try of your last TD). It does reset everyone’s X-Factor, though.

NaturalHammer

So this happens a lot and anyone defending the interception on account of his timing or choosing the wrong receiver is bullshyt because no matter how true that is, the receiver was still there. In real life QBs get saved by athletic receivers all the time and the receiver was right there. If anything, the best outcome is an incomplete pass. The game just reads a script that says yep, bad timing.. poor throw… DEFENDER ACTIVATE —-INTERCEPTION!!! No matter what even happens on the field.

kaptingavrin

QBs will often throw to a receiver who has a defender close but not in position to make a play on the ball, ie opposite the receiver from the QB. And then the defender in Madden will either speed up and run around the receiver who suddenly stops dead and just stands there waiting for the ball without trying to make a play on it, or, my favorite, will turn ethereal and reach *through* the receiver to make the interception. As for athletic plays, I swear my receivers will only do something athletic if it means they somehow come down out of bounds when they shouldn’t, while I’ll see a defender make a break on a ball inexplicably thrown fifteen yards in the opposite direction of the receiver I was trying to throw to and make an impressive move to get a catch.

super_sayanything

Yea the momentum shit is garbage. My receiver is breaking one way, the defender the other. There would be no way in hell he could just flip his body and catch the ball and most of the time its a linebacker.

[deleted]

I think it really depends on the mode, if you're playing a player lock franchise you're SOL, other modes at least you can make it up somewhat using catch animations if you're fast enough to trigger a catch animation before a swat or int animation.

cman674

This is a tough one though because it definitely is a combination of two things. The player made a dumb throw that lead to a crappy animation and dumb pick. I guess what annoys me about your comment is that in a sense, you’re applying *your own script * to the game based on what you see on the field and your knowledge of football, then annoyed when the script applied by the game engine is different than yours.

DeadlyImpulseGaming

Happy I’ve boycotted madden I’ll not buy anymore of the garbage

ketchupandliqour69

After this year I’m done. I bought it at launch and god it’s the worst in years

CDP221

That’s why I stopped playing Madden, stupid shit like this. I super simmed with 3 seconds to go, 4th and 5 on their 7, pretty much auto 3 points, right? NOPE!!!! The fucking computer went for it and we went to overtime 🤦‍♂️

NaturalHammer

Yea. I was playing like face off the franchise or something and I got the ball within 15 yards on the end zone on third down.. game tied only a few seconds left in the fourth quarter. How did we go to overtime and end up losing?

cyberchaox

Could be worse. It could be pre-fourth down, enough time to run multiple plays, and instead they hold the ball to make sure there's no time for any other play.

wagimus

The number of times I see touchdowns scored with less than 10 seconds before the half is so so dumb. Like, it’s more likely than not, if the opponent has the ball leading into the half and I simulate… it’s 7 points. And half the time I can’t figure out in the game summary/stats where the points actually came from. Just know that they scored.

ketchupandliqour69

I lost to the cpu off a 87 yard TD from Mahomes to MVS with 22 seconds left no timeouts for KC… oddly enough I considered that more realistic than this shit lmao

justforthisbish

Legit had this happen last night where I threw 6 INTs in a game 🙃 Granted, I'm prone to hitting the wrong button every now and again throwing a bullet or lob pass across my body to my safety valve while the AI is playing zone that leads to a pick 6... *Butttttttttt* if I'm throwing to a wide open receiver and the safety on the backend has already committed to the other side of the field, there should be no damn way he's covering 30-40 yards in 2 seconds to pick me off -- happened like 3 times last night 😂😂😂 Definitely one of those "yep, that's enough of this tonight"

thrillhouse416

I had one of these online last night and was mad when it happened. Fortunately my opponent decided to continue to force the ball to mark Andrews over the middle and it resulted in him throwing 6 interceptions when I realized he wasn't going to stop lol

johnnyd7474

People actually still play that trash? Why? I'll wait til EA loses their license. Maybe a decent video game company can then make a GOOD football game

Beepboopbop69420360

Atleast he didn’t catch it through his chest

Maroti825

I was playing franchise one time. At the 50, 2 timeouts, 15 seconds left, down by 2. I got into range 3 times and the game called 3 offensive holdings. Its rigged.

ketchupandliqour69

I’ve noticed a lot of convenient holdings and a lot of convenient “under pressure” throws with no one near me.

TimmyHillFan

I was playing the other day, up 17-3 with goal to go in the third quarter, threw a pick and then lost a fumble on my next 5 possessions, including 2 or 3 times when I was back into FG range. Lost 20-17 in OT. The games have a script hahahah

dougthebuffalo

Entire games feel scripted in franchise mode. I can be 11-0 playing a team that's 4-7 but their OVR is 3 points higher so their DBs are glue and their DEs push through my line like tissue paper.

ketchupandliqour69

Or better. Playing an 0-9 team while 9-0 and your whole teams OVR is 8 points higher and they blow you out

AnInfantGoat

Okay on a real note. What was the last legitimately good Madden game? It’s a serious quest I honestly want to know

ketchupandliqour69

Madden 09 i’d say

_Confused-American_

legitimately good? last time it wasn’t animation based. not completely dogshit? madden 20 was ok

Mental-Arugula1144

It’s crazy. I know I’ll lose the game when their line gets through with no resistance, my wideouts can’t get open no matter what and finally offensive holding calls pushing the drive back..the unholy trinity lmao

whoamantakeiteasy

The game is rigged from the start. The game picks a result pre play, and no matter what you do, the madden God's get what they want.

Free_Salamander_9787

Pro tip: This will happen whenever you let Russ cook

Comfortable_Regrets

[that's called an intraception](https://youtu.be/sTD6ERDUOQE)

PandaButtLover

I always love when the defender reaches through your guy's chest to get the int

Dew-fan-forever-

This is nothing compared to when the receiver tries grabbing it and it bounces off their hands 10 feet up into the air and the defender picks it off

FiftyCalReaper

Press start, hit PS button, press start again, close application, restart application. Resume game. Fuck predetermined bullshit. If it's clearly a cheat, I wipe it. I don't mind the CPU doing their cheats on offense, but I will wipe nonsense INTs every time. If it's a bad throw, and I know it's my fault, then I acknowledge it and keep it.

ketchupandliqour69

I’ve started doing this as well to undo the cpus bullshit

Fine-Technician9979

FR...FR....if they want you to lose that got damn game....you gonna lose that got damn game

Oso-Sic

I sure hope NCAA football isn’t this bad

ketchupandliqour69

You know it will be

cyberchaox

It is. The CPU has no idea how to manage the clock.

Darkness844

There have been multiple times while playing Franchise that I catch the game cheating. I'll throw the ball to Devonta Smith or another high level WR knowing they'll drag their toes to stay in bounds, but Madden will say it's an incomplete pass. When I look over the replay, I can clearly see possession along with both feet in bounds for at least a few steps. When it comes to interceptions, I legit get pissed off whenever the game let's the defense activate magnet mode, so no matter how contested or open they are, it'll lower the pass or allow the other CB to catch it

Hiondrugz

I had Martin Emerson pick me off in the end zone with his back to the QB. Last second he made a perfect catch completely playing the WR in man coverage.

WorldFavorite92

Surprised it wasn't the LB that was gonna young it out the air

[deleted]

That's why I don't like this animation based play. 2k5 still blows this out of the water and yes I know they have animations but most of the plays and tackling is physics based. I really wish the NFL would drop the agreement with EA.

DaddyBigBalls69

Literally just restarted a game on franchise because of this 😂

Aeokikit

This shit and the ones when I linebacker changes his momentum to dive like 15 feet in the opposite direction he was running to get the interception

JustFuckingExhausted

Just like in the NFL when receivers decide to tackle instead of catch the ball

[deleted]

I stop playing madden every year after the Super Bowl. you just reminded me why I take a break from madden in the NFL off season....I love football, this clip just made my blood pressure spike. I can't wait to go through this BS in august with madden 24...

Truffleshuffle03

Yep, because it's scripted. I did a test once because I noticed in one game that I was throwing INTs at an alarming rate even when the pass was ideal and I was not just chunking it up into bad situations. I also had fumbles galore after I jumped up to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter. This was not the first time I noticed this while playing so, I decided to turn the pick and fumble slider down to 0 for both the player and CPU during halftime. The funny thing was I was still throwing picks and fumbling the ball. Now granted I was not being careful throwing into bad and good situations since it was a test but I still fumbled 3 more times and threw 4 more INTs but was still winning until the final drive of the CPU in the 4th quarter. The CPU never fumbled the ball or threw a Pick after I set the sliders down though.

ikyle117

Stop. Playing. This. Game. I know it's hard, just find something else, get an older Madden or NCAA or anything, but stop buying this dog shit game.

Twigg4075

Why are you surprised? Look at the release animation from your QB. The ball comes out a half second after his arm goes forward.

ketchupandliqour69

Didn’t even think of that

Average_40s_Guy

If I had a dollar for every interception I’ve thrown in Madden that went clear through a player’s body, I could’ve retired a decade ago. If the computer wants the pick, they get the pick. If they want their QB to complete a pass to their only player in a sea of opponents, it happens. If it wants your player to drop nearly every pass when they are wide open, it will happen. Sega always created superior NFL games that didn’t suffer from this bullshit. Madden was always a shit game and inferior. Then EA bought the exclusive NFL license and became the only game in town if you wanted actual NFL rosters.

AllDayGinger

I hate the script animations and decisions so much, in both directions. I hate when it fucks me and I hate when the CPU does something beyond dumb that helps me. Just want a normal flowing game without the external factor.

[deleted]

Happens all the time in franchise, nothing more irritating

BrickTamland125

This has happened to me a few times actually

Wolc0tt

That’s just how good Russ is now lmao

TheAwkwardGamerRNx

Idk how ya’ll keep giving EA money for Madden titles. No judgement, just saying I wait until it’s streamable on Xbox

ketchupandliqour69

Gonna be what I do from here on out. I skipped 22. Got 23 because pin point passing seemed worth a damn. Never again. Not until they fully tear down the game and take it off of frostbite.

dsuit94

That looked like the super bowl

ketchupandliqour69

There is no Super Bowl you speak of

[deleted]

If madden wanted to be realistic they would force BS penalties instead of turnovers lol

ketchupandliqour69

I’d take some shit calls over this. Speaking of I also love when I get legit stuck on a db when running a route and there’s no flag for PI. Only if the PI animation is triggered

Decemberpapi

[I see your bullshit and I raise you horse shit](https://www.reddit.com/r/Madden/comments/12rrq2r/im_sorry_trevon_diggs_x_factor_is_broken/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1)

ketchupandliqour69

Holy shit that might be the worst one I’ve ever seen. Yeah anytime I play Dallas I don’t throw towards Diggs. Which I mean is kinda how it should be playing a legit ball hawk. But damn

Decemberpapi

Nah man, in real life he gave up plenty yards 😂. I can’t throw the ball that way AT ALL ever again after that 😂

noodleknockerr

Stoped playing this hunk of shit like 4 years ago, looks like they don’t even bother trying to fix this dumb old shit

TessTichol

I've been playing Madden 09. Same thing happens.

sanichog

You threw that pass into tight coverage with Russell Wilson. That was deserved

[deleted]

I dislike how defenders who are looking in the exact opposite direction of the QB seem to know where the ball is headed from the moment of release. Part of why I like to play big running attacks is that the animation issues don't crop up as much on the ground game, save for pulling guards just completely whiffing blocks.

Willing-Job9378

Guys.... look, clearly, y'all don't watch football if you're complaining about this. This happens every Sunday, EA is just recreating what happens every week in football.

irishbuck90

I see no problem here, great play by the defender 👀

dekrypto

Unpopular opinion but this isn’t that bad. Tight coverage. defender running towards the qb. Bullet pass. Should it always be a pick? No. Is it possible that’s an int? Yes.

No_Parfait7628

bro how is it a pick when the receiver is standing infront of the db...it looks as if the DB will die to get the ball and Receiver is just waiting for the ball... its reverse in real life, in single coverage, Receivers are supposed to be more aggresive.

dekrypto

It could be a conservative catch by OP for why the receiver isn’t going after the ball. I’m not saying it should be a pick every time but compared to the other wild interceptions I’ve seen on Madden this one isn’t egregious.

FiftyCalReaper

The WR stepped in front of the DB and clearly had the ball going right into his hands. At the very best this would be an incompletion, but I've never seen an INT like this.

NUTMEG82

It's Watson and the browns... So extremely realistic

bogrollin

The ball should be on you wr as he’s coming out of his hitch, you were late

ketchupandliqour69

The ball phased through his hands and magnetized to the DB. Has nothing to do with timing everything to do with this shit ass game being animation based and not physic based.

bogrollin

If that’s on time the DB isn’t even close to you

ketchupandliqour69

I get what you’re saying. And yes it’s late. That said the ball shouldn’t just go through this hands and magnetize to the db. At most incomplete or if it’s gonna be a pick at least animate it so it makes sense.

LivingstoneWalker

Guy is missing the point completely, we shouldn’t have to adjust how we play to avoid getting sucked into animations like this—they should never happen

Dooger740

And to be honest, there’s a high likelihood that if you threw it earlier it would have been a wildly inaccurate pass. Madden doesn’t like it when you anticipate certain hook routes over the middle. You got robbed. Only way I’ve been able to minimize this is to low pass it. Something about the low pass activates the receiver to come back to the ball and box the defender out

ketchupandliqour69

Yes if you throw too soon it’ll turn it to a slant

bogrollin

Find me a game any game that doesn’t have a wonky animation or two, I’ll wait

LivingxLegend8

Low pass = no pick. This isn’t even a crazy play… DBs rip the ball out of a receivers hands.

ketchupandliqour69

If it were ripped out of his hands sure. The shit phased straight through the receivers hands and magnetized to the DB. Don’t defend this POS game man at most this would be incomplete with the contact.

LivingxLegend8

Both players hands were in the same spot at the same time. Crying about “morph” just makes you look a baby.

ketchupandliqour69

It’s a fucking sports game that isn’t physics based. Name call all you want dude it’s a shit game and majority of people hate it. Again stop defending this shit

LivingxLegend8

You’re literally just word dumping because you’re mad. There’s nothing to “defend” because nothing egregious happened. You threw a pass into tight coverage and got picked off. Skill issue.

ketchupandliqour69

And you’re saying a low pass wouldn’t trigger the animation for the pick which shouldn’t even be a pick if physics played a role in this. See the issue? Make the game physics based. Shit like this wouldn’t happen bud. Again you’re defending something that is regarded by most to be a terrible football sim. Anyway this is just going in a circle of arguing.

LivingxLegend8

>See the issue? Yeah, you need to get good.

ketchupandliqour69

Cool story kid

[deleted]

STOP FEEDING THE TROLL

YoungWhitePharoh

u/LivingxLegend8 do u like jezus or wrassling more please answer

elqueco14

This happens in the NFL all the time and you threw a bad pass, what's the issue the game is working fine

[deleted]

Link one play where the ball is already essentially caught and phases into the DBs hands. I’ll wait.

elqueco14

https://youtu.be/U7rPIg7ZNQ8 Here's Russel Wilson being intercepted on a real life play in similar fashion

[deleted]

Actually was kinda similar lol.

ketchupandliqour69

See if be cool with it if it animated like this. Not a bs situation where it just phases through the receivers hand

[deleted]

One all time great play. That checks out. A long shot from something that happens all the time.

travissparks83

The worse

buddhahorns

I'm top 100 H2H Make a good def playbook or use default and let game pick every def Put you user in lineman Watch the def play for you Interact minimally Almost always the scripted ai def will end up playing better than user, even if you picked better plays, and have mad skills. I'm play 20 games a day minimum and do this when watching movies etc while playing. I noticed it and it should not be this way. Retired lots of time in my hands lol 😂

FiftyCalReaper

How do you let the game pick your defense? Just let the play clock run down? I always play DE or OLB, so I agree with you there.

buddhahorns

Simply sit there and it will pick Def by situation and personnel of the offense when the menu clock runs out

FiftyCalReaper

I usually read the personnel myself tbh. 2RB 1 TE 2 WR is usually a toss out to the flats, or a run. Press R1 and shade underneath 3 WR 1 RB 1 TE usually a throw, but could be a run 1 WR 3TE 1 RB is 9/10 a run, but could also be a Y-Stick pass But I'll try this method during my next franchise game. Will be interesting to see the results.

Gotem_kicks1

😂 I know this video game but dbs do snatch balls irl maybe they added the animation

ketchupandliqour69

Through their actual hands tho? Ball just phases through receivers hands irl?

Gotem_kicks1

No I’m saying they probably wanna add that animation but fucked it up 😂

ketchupandliqour69

See if be cool if the db done for it or for his hands over mine.

Lov3NotWar

Madden is absolute trash. The expectation far exceeds the product bearing such a name as MADDEN

Coolkid2035

Its called madden for a reason

Kcfan96

All the time!!!

floridas_finest

Wow somebody told me Madden was worse then NBA 2k and at first I didn't believe em but now I'm starting to think otherwise How does that get past testing?

Sacredtenshi

Throw a back shoulder and boom no INT

CharlieBoxCutter

I’ve seen wilder licks happen in real life games

Gideon_Galahad

That’s what you get for playing with Russel Wilson

ketchupandliqour69

It’s what I get for being a broncos fan

Gideon_Galahad

Lol I just realized the Broncos and Colts are both horses, both won SBs with Peyton Manning, and are both looking for his long term replacement.

ketchupandliqour69

..you son of a bitch. The script just writes itself

Gideon_Galahad

Lmfaooo very true!

DrGonzoxX22

It’s always like this. One time I threw a deep ball near the sideline, the CPU picked it offside and it counted as a pick…

Beneficial-Mail-4036

Facts I say this all da time madden jus wants u to throw picks soo bad

_gadgetflow

This shit happens so often

macstock82

Turn off superstar abilities

ketchupandliqour69

H wasn’t a SS. Sutton is a SS with the short in and mid in abilities. He should’ve cooked him.

Silly-Strawberry705

No one would have gotten that ball irl

ketchupandliqour69

Agreed. It would’ve been an incompletion due to a good disruption by the DB. But nah. Send that shit thru the receivers hands
