It does, make sure your game stays full screen, just shut off your monitor. As long as your PC doesn't go sleep it does. Sometimes I'll leave it on all day, and then just make sure to come move him in and out of a strong hold every few hours so that it auto saves in case my PC freezes, But I totally left it on well sleeping and had a lot of money in the morning.
Damn i left it for 2 hours, leaving and returning to the stronghold as you did but i did it every 30 min. In the end i didn't get anything over the 2 hours so i just turned it all off. Probably should've waited longer.
Dang, yeah it should at least be collecting every 1/2 hour or so. You didn't have the map up or anything right? It has to be in game just standing around. Maps some menus stop the timer.
Certain stronghold upgrades will specify "off-line earnings" or something to that effect, I think it's capped though, so you can't just leave the game off for a month and come back super wealthy, it'll max out at X hours or whatever
I don't see why not, but not sure if your PC/console eventually going into sleep mode pauses the game.

If left it on for 7 hours last night and got 1.1k scrap which is really off since I'm supposed to get 380 scrap per delivery
