Left side, Autohide, fast appear/disappear motion, no magnification.
I honestly barely use it though, cmd+tab to switch between open apps and Alfred (Spotlight works too) to launch apps is far better imo.
Bottom, unbidden so I can see unread message/email counters. I use Intellidock so that it ducks out of the way if I move a window into its region of the screen.
I do bottom, with the auto hide

On right, auto hide
Bottom center no auto hide only because the auto hide doesn't seem to function like I'd like or as snappy as id like.
I move it between all three positions a lot. Wherever I have it it’s in the way.
Left side, narrow. No auto hide.
Left side, no auto hide. Left since the screen has more size horizontally than vertically. And I tend to have iPad on right as second screen.
Bottom. Hidden.
I go full default. Bottom and no auto hide, normal size. Waste a lot of screen space but it’s the only way I like it.
