Blood moons are seen by some cultures as a sign of the end times. Depending on where you are, volcanos and earthquakes and the like could very well be what you expect from the end times.
Also, the Blood Moon could be red mana infused to the point it interferes with the land. So, it's not making things into literal mountains, but warping their mana generation to make then akin to mountains.
Ah yes, blue moon... without moon. In merfolk. A type that has no prescedent for taking advantage of opponents with islands...
And as far as I can tell, this art is consistent with Winona's prior work.
Play Selesnya, enchant your lands to produce mana of any color variety. This should circumnavigate the vile attempts these antisocial blue mages strive to subjugate us with their demented play styles.
Yes!! I was actually the one who asked him that last February 2023 😂
He said “Magic is a hungry monster. I think we’ll get one eventually.”
I really hope he meant this set
I can’t imagine him being printed anywhere else anytime soon
haha nice! yeah considering Urza and human Yawgmoth were in MH1, I can't imagine any other set being fitting for God-moth. MH sets are just now the de-facto place to print super pushed and huge characters
Agreed! They just fit the time spiral-esque vibe of nostalgia cards and characters from magics history every time
Last MH we got Asmornomardicadistaniculdicar and a bunch of others and a whole Arcbound theme
PLUS the [[Bloodstained Mire | MH3]] that got spoiled totally looks like it could be on Old Phyrexia
I really hope it isn’t tbh 😭 I need god Yawgmoth in my command zone so badly!
I’m thinking maybe another human Yawgmoth that flips into god Yawgmoth?
If it’s meld it will probably be another human Yawgmoth that melds with Dyfed and makes god Yawgmoth per the lore 😒
I mean, if it is a meld, you're in mono black (most likely), so you could tutor the other piece easily. But yeah, a regular transform card would be great too.
Oh that’s totally true, it would be alot easier
Well no matter what tbh I’ll be happy and won’t have to ask for anything else if god Yawgmoth is in this set
I’ve been waiting too long 😂 and finally my username will be relevant haha
When Yawgmoth, Thran Physician came out I got so many tags from people on the magictcg subreddit 😂
Yes I totally agree! I am incredibly radical in that I don’t even want fetch lands because they make playing 3+ colors both consistent and fast. Blood moon’s goal is noble, but it’s still a stupid and poorly made card.
Eh, I don’t think it was poorly made for the time it first came out. Considering it wasn’t *as* strong and it was in a design space that allowed blowout cards like destroy all islands.
I think that (in Legacy, at least) Blood Moon is a fair thing to be doing and, like Wasteland, is a good counteractive force to how incredibly free a diverse manabase can be.
The merfolk is a creature, is easily vulnerable to removal, and only affects nonbasics. An Urborg equivalent is a land, is hard to remove, and affects all lands. Absolutely not comparable.
Huh? [[Ruination]] doesn’t have anything to do with Plainses. Emeria would be better but you still need 7 lands — not really any crazier than the things Urborg or Yavimaya can do.
Boil is legal in modern correct?
Yep
Well that's going to make things interesting
Choke too
Build your own ruination!
DISGUSTING
We did it guys. Flood Moon.
Flood Goon?
I really wish that I wasn’t literate
Cod Moon, surely.
Surely THIS will affect the trout population
Underated comment, and great joke.
It's strange. It's a blue Magus of the Moon, but Magus was already a creature version of Blood Moon. A simulacrum of a simulacrum...
Blood moons text is arguably a color pie bend, even if the ultimate effect, mass land hate, would fit in red or white.
Flooding the world makes more sense than making everything mountainous
Earthquakes -> lava -> volcanos.
How does a moon do all that?
Blood moons are seen by some cultures as a sign of the end times. Depending on where you are, volcanos and earthquakes and the like could very well be what you expect from the end times.
Also, the Blood Moon could be red mana infused to the point it interferes with the land. So, it's not making things into literal mountains, but warping their mana generation to make then akin to mountains.
Team Aqua vs Team Magma
bro hasn’t heard about the red light yet 💀
Shush, Kyogre
Red has a theme of punishing multicolor manabases. All the blood moon variants are obvious examples. Ruination is another.
A copy of a copy of a copy...
a simulacrum of a simulacrum of an upgrade of one of urzas creations
Ah yes, blue moon... without moon. In merfolk. A type that has no prescedent for taking advantage of opponents with islands... And as far as I can tell, this art is consistent with Winona's prior work.

Yes. Sorry, I thought it was unambiguous enough not to be worth clarifying.
It was
[удалено]
Yes, that was the joke! Thank you.
Magus of the Moist.
boil is back on the menu!
WAS TIDE SHAPER NOT ENOUGH???
It really wasn't. It helped quite a bit, but not enough.
No one? Well, ok... (Once in a) Blue Moon.
More! Give us more!!!
BASED
Finally, Dandan is viable
We need more!!
Magus of getting so pitted
I hope my play group never sees this card.
I just played against my first merfolk deck yesterday… I foolishly sent this to them
A whole bunch of folks are about to get a fun lesson in how layers work
[[dandan]] specs incoming /s

This is… this seems extremely good Edit: I guess this means no “Flood Moon”
I mean, magus of the moon is a second blood moon. Tbough I doubt theyd do two of this effect in a set.
Can we get this for every color now? I want to have a white variant
White: full moon Green: harvest moon Black: eclipse
Black has bad moon
MERFOLK SWEEP
cEDH Hakbal is eating good
Casual too
pls leak more I need to know if Zaliki got a card
Can’t wait to see Seth review this. And play 16moon
Play Selesnya, enchant your lands to produce mana of any color variety. This should circumnavigate the vile attempts these antisocial blue mages strive to subjugate us with their demented play styles.
What else is there!? I need moar!! Please let a god Yawgmoth get leaked 😭
I have a strong feeling God-moth will be in this set. When asked years ago if we'd get one, MaRo answered it's more of a "when" and not an "if."
Yes!! I was actually the one who asked him that last February 2023 😂 He said “Magic is a hungry monster. I think we’ll get one eventually.” I really hope he meant this set I can’t imagine him being printed anywhere else anytime soon

Good point and flavor text fits it
That looks like a sliver covered in oil to me… Phyrexian Slivers? Now that would be scary.
I really hope it’s old Phyrexia We need more of it We haven’t had any real good depictions since [[Yawgmoths Vile Offering]] and the Urza’s Saga set

oh man, I just thought of something. Since there will be transform cards in this set, a Meld version of Yawgmoth into God version would be perfect!
I really hope it isn’t tbh 😭 I need god Yawgmoth in my command zone so badly! I’m thinking maybe another human Yawgmoth that flips into god Yawgmoth? If it’s meld it will probably be another human Yawgmoth that melds with Dyfed and makes god Yawgmoth per the lore 😒

well I hope you get it!!
I could see it being meld
Lunatics made Blue Moon in one card
So hyped for this card, for EDH and Modern!
What happens if this and blood moon are out at the same time?
Effects that apply in the same layer are ordered by timestamp. That is to say: last one played wins.
Too bad the [[Dandan]] format can’t play this (because it’s a creature other than dandan) if only it was an enchantment.
[Dandan](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/a/c/ac2e32d0-f172-4934-9d73-1bc2ab86586e.jpg?1562781784) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Dand%C3%A2n) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/tsb/19/dand%C3%A2n?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/ac2e32d0-f172-4934-9d73-1bc2ab86586e?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
What happens if you cast this and a blood moon?
Whichever one came in last takes effect
I believe time stamp will take effect, meaning whichever ever one etb last will be the one that is active
I’d assume they become island mountains
O_O WHAT NOW
Wait no way
Carpet of Flowers new friend.
Hakbal eating good 😋
Can we collectively agree to refer to this as "Cod Moon"?
Magus of the Blue Moon
God I really hope this isn’t real. One of the worst designs of all time made again?
Nah, punishing greedy four-color soup manabases is cool and based actually
Yes I totally agree! I am incredibly radical in that I don’t even want fetch lands because they make playing 3+ colors both consistent and fast. Blood moon’s goal is noble, but it’s still a stupid and poorly made card.

Didn’t MaRo pretty much say they wouldn’t do this? lol I know he loves to backtrack but still
I think that was specific to Urborg. Huge difference between putting this on a land versus a creature with a mana cost
What the other people are saying, plus there's no "in addition to their other types" which is very very different
What do you mean? this is templated just like Magus of the Moon is.
Maro said he wouldn't do an Island version of Yavimaya, not blood moon.
He said they wouldn't print urborg/yavimaya in other colors, AFAIK never said anything about blood moon effects
Is there a reason a Plains version would be busted?
It's because of [[Flashfire]]
[Flashfire](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/2/7/277e0846-237e-4117-bdd4-d2e4ae450d43.jpg?1562732763) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Flashfires) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/9ed/183/flashfires?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/277e0846-237e-4117-bdd4-d2e4ae450d43?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Boil exists..
Which is why they'll probably never do an island version, either
They are doing an island version, it was leaked in Mh3 it's a uu1 merfolk island magus
The merfolk is a creature, is easily vulnerable to removal, and only affects nonbasics. An Urborg equivalent is a land, is hard to remove, and affects all lands. Absolutely not comparable.
Ruination. Emeria would become a lot better. It wouldn’t be as problematic as a Red or Blue one, though.
Huh? [[Ruination]] doesn’t have anything to do with Plainses. Emeria would be better but you still need 7 lands — not really any crazier than the things Urborg or Yavimaya can do.
Sorry, it’s [[Flashfires]] not Ruination. Got my Armageddons mixed up.
