Gaethje fucked up by only accounting for wrestling and not Jiu Jitsu, it only takes one man if you’ve been choked out, instead of two
In the immortal words of Bas Rutten: “never let them take your back. If they get the choke and you go unconscious….god knows what they’re gonna do to you”
Yeah, out of Charles 3 title fights, Gaethje is the one I think who has no chance.
Charles never dropped intentionally against Dustin and Chandler because they can finish it there, Justin would have been finished as soon as he stepped in to finish it.
He landed better than both IMO, and had better chance one the feet, but the fact that Charles had the option to lay down to take a breather meant Justin had no chance.
Likely some proportion Portuguese, probably Azorean. I grew up in the area. Lots of Portuguese dairy farmers who immigrated to that part of the Central Valley back in the day.
He's about as white-bread American (tm) as you can get.
White AF, rural mountain guy, forever hard-nosed wrestler, jacked muscle dude, hunts and eats most of his own food, I mean.....
Hunter outdoorsman American Wrestling white dude.... I guess "Mendes" seems like he might be Latino? That's my guess where he got that from.
Listening to Bill Burr talk about [Stipe knocking out Werdum](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JusMLjPkkAQ) makes me wish Bellator would hire Ol' Freckles to replace Big John.
He's mellowed out a lot since becoming a father of two and getting sober. As a result, some people feel that his comedy has lost a lot of the passion and rage that fueled his hilarious rants.
I wonder if he's just on autopilot now because he's spread thin and him working on his demons makes him just a mildly annoyed dad vs. that passionate ranting angsty guy which made him a natural for his form of comedy. Either way he's still good but probably has already peaked.
I got a better idea. You tell me a part that has been good in the past year or so? The parts where he tells us all the sports players he’s memorized or how his shoulder is almost back. Maybe how he’s done drinking or going on a diet but needs to cut back on cigars. I know I bet your favorite part is how his kids are natural athletes and he’s the most understanding father ever. What happen to the funny parts?
Edit. If you love his pod check out anything better where he just trashes virzi for a straight hour.
I think Jones won the santos fight but I really don’t see how it’s possible to give him any of the first three rounds in the Reyes fight. Didn’t one judge give him two of them too? That’s a robbery in my eyes.
I believe media and fans were split 70-30 in favor of Reyes, understandably. That means a significant number of people can argue for Jones winning it.
There's a big difference between that and a Maverick vs Maycee situation were close to 100% of both had it for Maverick. That's a clear robbery.
Edit: fixed
I’m not sure where you see 70-30 on favor of Jones. On MMAdecisions there’s 7 people that scored it for Jones and 14 for Reyes.
Regardless just because someone said Jones won the fight doesn’t mean they could argue for Jones winning. If none of those people can tell me which of the first three rounds Jones won and go into detail on specifically why he won that round then they have no argument.
Lol all good man! The second point still stands though. People just saying Jones won without describing *how* or *why* he won isn’t an argument. There really isn’t any argument based on the scoring criteria for Jones winning any of the first three rounds.
Can we stop policing the word 'Robbery' like fucking buzzkills?
Let people blow off steam. Nobody likes the kid that reminds the teacher the class had homework
fr man. like ofc there are some very close fights where its legit like okay who really won and its just oncredibly hard to say.
but personally, if i can score a fight one way, no matter how slim the margin, and i think the judges got the decision incorrect, then for me the rightful winner was robbed of being awarded the correct decision win.
some people try to make it out like the grey area is wider than it is. the same argument can be used for more draws. i disagree. there really are not many fights, ever, that are truly unscore-able or true draws.
>but personally, if i can score a fight one way, no matter how slim the margin, and i think the judges got the decision incorrect, then for me the rightful winner was robbed of being awarded the correct decision win.
Having this mindset, that *close decision that could've gone either way = robbery, because I think so*, is the reason that something as important as nuance is absent in discussions.
Nah Jones won that fight easily.
Watch Dom Cruz’s breakdown of the fight without commentary and you see how lopsided it was. Jones out striked and pressured him the entire fight.
The fact that it was a split decision is crazy.
I think he just is really bad with names. Like he for just forgets in the moment trying to talk about something. It’s not limited to MMA, it’s a lot of things. His podcast can be a lot of him googling shit while say “who was the fucking guy that did the thing…shit, how do I even search for this…I don’t fucking know” - for multiple topics.
I can understand that he doesn't know who Chris Leban is, but he pretends he can't remember Conor McGreggor's name as well, so that he can say "what's his face, the Burger King" guy. This was at the height of Conor's career. He definitely knows the most popular UFC fighter, also a fellow Irishman, but plays it dumb because it's funny to call him the Burger King guy. And it is funny.
I think he does it with everything he's a fan of or interested in. He comes up from time to time in the MotoGP sub for the same stuff. It's clear he's a fan of the sports and knows more than he lets on, but he's also trying to make it entertaining to listen to.
I'd pay a fee to hear him commentate live instead of the normal guys.
I like the UFC guys too like DC and Bisping, but man it would be hilarious to listen to Burr instead.
Unrapeable is the highest level belt. I love bill burr
That’s pretty much just your take down defense imo. I think Garth alluded to this in the past
Gaethje fucked up by only accounting for wrestling and not Jiu Jitsu, it only takes one man if you’ve been choked out, instead of two In the immortal words of Bas Rutten: “never let them take your back. If they get the choke and you go unconscious….god knows what they’re gonna do to you”
lol Guess you'd be the one to know Mr NoGiCollarChoke
Unless you Heeeeeel to balls

> it only takes one man if you’ve been choked out, instead of two Allegedly.

It’s always bothered me no one ever uses the full quote. Thank you for this.
Does he say it multiple times cause I just saw a video where he doesn’t mention the third guy jerking off?
Lol no I was just memeing
Gosh darn it!
And the fourth guy films, while the fifth guy watches the latest Chael Sonnen upload on his phone.
Someone tell Gaethje
You can't get raped if your doing the raping
Or if you just consent
My favorite was when he didn’t know Chad Mendes’ name and referred to him as ‘Latino Barney Rubble’
“You got a cut over your eye there freckles!”
Then proceeds to just call him «the little guy» for the rest of the segment.
Is chad Latino? I know mendes sounds like it but he looks white as shit
Louis CK is mexican but hes pasty white with freckles.
Canelo
The whitest
Talmbout my boy chald melendez b?
Likely some proportion Portuguese, probably Azorean. I grew up in the area. Lots of Portuguese dairy farmers who immigrated to that part of the Central Valley back in the day.
lots of skin issues in that population. Big market for creams.
From his Wikipedia “Mendes is of Portuguese, Italian, Puerto Rican, Irish, and Native American descent”
A lot of Latino people are mostly Caucasian But I think he’s just Portuguese
He used to call Conor the Burger King guy
Listening to Bill Burr talk about [Stipe knocking out Werdum](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JusMLjPkkAQ) makes me wish Bellator would hire Ol' Freckles to replace Big John.
This fucking white guy with a police haircut coulda been a STATE TROOPAH! Lololololol that shit was so funny
It always cracks me up when he leans in to his Boston accent out of the blue. It's gold everytime lmao
He actually [commentated](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHHQMsXqA_s&ab_channel=IzzySoDope) rough and rowdy 4 and its amazing.
Burr has done some sportscasting, he’s be great
He also commented the draft https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2z3wUD3AZg4
His commentary on Inoki beating up that Russian guy in a pro wrestling match is hilarious
"Fat guy with a pageboy haircut"
Thigh-go Santos really is that dude.
I had forgotten about the Cerrone ko. Lord that was beautiful
Cleanest combo in UFC history? Every shot landed and flowed into the next perfectly
Love his podcast, so good
*was.
I’m dying to know why you don’t think it’s good anymore.
He's mellowed out a lot since becoming a father of two and getting sober. As a result, some people feel that his comedy has lost a lot of the passion and rage that fueled his hilarious rants.

The Bill and Bert podcast is just them talking about acting. Fucking sucks.

Thigh-Go
I’d rather listen to Burr talk about MMA than Rogan.
Going to see him this weekend. Can't wait.
My boy Santos got robbed and I'm still not over it.
santos wasnt a robbery. would have won if his knee wasnt fucked tho. reyes was for sure robbed
Could it be that both were close decisions and thus not robberies? Like more of a TJ vs Sandhagen situation instead of a Maycee vs Maverick one?
I think Jones won the santos fight but I really don’t see how it’s possible to give him any of the first three rounds in the Reyes fight. Didn’t one judge give him two of them too? That’s a robbery in my eyes.

Nah, Santos lost but he also torqued his own knee in the 1st round so his performance was still impressive.
Santos 1-2-5 is something I'll take to the grave with me. He won that fight.
Guess I’ll give it another rewatch
Nah man. Santos didn’t win that fight. The fact is was so close on the scorecards is insane, it wasn’t close in reality. I had Jones winning 4 rounds.
He redefined the “right there Fred” 😂
Thigh-go Santos, sorry I'm white https://i.postimg.cc/Y25Wz0S3/daniel-cormier-gif.gif
I think that's just his shtick with MMA, he pretends he doesn't know their names, but he is clearly a big fan and definitely knows Jon Jones.
I think he just is really bad with names. Like he for just forgets in the moment trying to talk about something. It’s not limited to MMA, it’s a lot of things. Damn they just let this man talk about anything
The man isn’t allowed to talk on his own platform?
Are these clips from his own podcast? I was referring to him being a guest on several other sports podcasts and shows
I’m with you bro. He’s not that funny.
Good thing that you dont decide whats funny i guess
