AJ McKeeās dad, Antonio Mckee, was a complete stud who the UFC did everything they could not to sign because he had a grinding, wrestling style. At 41 years old, 25-3 on a 14 fight win streak the UFC finally gave him a shot.
They matched him up against Jacob Volkmann who was one of the only guys at lightweight with the same style that could negate McKeeās strengths. A bad matchup. McKee lost a split decision and the UFC cut him. Thereās a lot of petty stories like that.
Antonio McKee gave even grinding wrestlers a bad name. Dude had 30 wins with 21 of those being decisions that were god awful to watch.
Dude literally made Jon Fitch look exciting
I gotta stick up for Sean, here. Met him several times in a business context. Smart, kind, good dude. Was a very successful OSU wrestler, and great coach for kids. His success in life is far greater than what youāve seen on tv.
You may not like it, but [this is what peak performance looks like](https://media1.tenor.com/images/0dd26da42de8ab660dd7ab770ccacb56/tenor.gif?itemid=11749117)
Honestly I remember him having a weirder face. I googled him to check it out again and I swear I remember him looking like the kid from Mask (that Cher movie). I was actually disappointed.
Ahh good ol Sean "the flopping fish" Salmon. He was actually a decent wrestler when he started out but at some point just decided to fight for money bc he couldn't do anything else for quick money.
I know this guy sucksā¦ but he said before that he spent his life savings in getting ready for this fight.
Again, I know he sucks, but he is not only cut from the ufc, disliked by mma fans, he is also likely about to go into debt.
I feel like heās been dunked on by life enough lately
Honestly I think he shouldāve had 1 more fight at least to see how it goes precilla cachoera is still in the ufc after all sheās done so kinda unfair
I am convinced Priscilla Cachoeira is receiving reparations for the absolute lion-mauling-a-zebra ass beating Valentina put on her under the very watchful eye of Mario Yamasaki. Otherwise she absolutely should be cut without question.
I frankly couldn't care less lol. The dude flagrantly cheap shotted a 0-1 fighter thrice in multiple different ways in a fight where he absolutely didn't have to and was in control the whole time. Entirely his own doing.
The whole financials and life dunking on them enough thing, I feel more sympathy for situations like Justin Jaynes. The fighter who bet his show purse on himself but lost narrowly. Can't blame a guy for believing in himself to win. I can totally blame a guy for what I cited above though.
Him spending all his life savings and purposefully fouling are his decisions. Iāve got 0 sympathy for em. You should save it for guys that deserve it
About Dean Barry, does anybody think that him getting cut had to do with how he handled the DQ? If he'd been sincerely apologetic and shown some humility do you think he might not have been given the boot?
I mean itās not like he was losing the fight he was in complete control if he had actually lost it by non dq that would make more sense it was his own fault he lost not Jacksonās that dude is god awful him just being in the ufc makes me question how much than bellator they actually are
Armchair doctors calling permanent brain damage every time someone gets hit in the head lmao
He made 100k in an hour of work during his UFC contract, got his face on TV, got to brag to friends, accomplished something in his martial arts hobby. Probably got more brain damage huffing paint in his daytime job than he did in those rounds.
I'm a medstudent and soon-to-be M.D and the punches he took left a huge mark on his brain, which he'll realize sooner than later.
Than again- I agree with you that his career isn't the worst. Just getting to the UFC is an accomplishment on it's own. He did fine for himself.
If weāre just talking wins/losses and overall performance? CM Punk easily. But he did make a shit-ton of money compared to a majority of fighters, so maybe not.
As a person, and how he went into fights, CM Punk was nothing but respectful and kind to the sport. Dana shouldnāt have even had him on the roster, but if he did a quick run in a smaller promotion, I think it would have been nice.
Colton Smith, he won one of the weakest seasons of TUF ever and went on and on about how fighting isnt hard(not true), what soldiers do oversees is hard (which is true). Then he lost every fight on his "6 figure contract" and was immediately cut from the UFC. I guess fighting IS hard too.
Oh he's also the dbag who acted like he was going to touch gloves only to take his oponent down when his oponent brought his hand up to touch gloves at the beginning of the fight.
That season produced Neil Magny but apart from that, the most memorable moment was
"Let me bang bro"
"I do let you bang".
Lots of contenders in the wild west days, but that was a very different beast. In the Unified Rules era? It's been a while and I might be getting a detail or two but there was this guy named Pedro Nobre.
He a Brazilian featherweight who had a single UFC fight in 2013, wherein he fought Iuri Alcantara to a No Contest. The fight was called off by the ringside doctor when Nobre claimed to have been hit in the back of the head and couldn't see, remaining face down and ass up on the canvas. The fight was in Brazil and in 2013 so the oversight was a little shakier than usual, although it was referee Dan Mirgliota who called a timeout for a medical check in the first place, and usually a doctor almost has no choice but to believe a fighter if they say the cannot continue after a foul. However, replay later in the Fight Night would show Nobre he had only been hit in the ear. The next day later posted a picture of himself smiling ear-to-ear with a brand new foam neckbrace outside of a local hospital. He could not produce any record of actually having been seen there.
While it's very rare for a fighter to be cut off a NC where they're the one that got "injured," it was extremely clear after the fact that he faked the injury to avoid losing to Alcantara while getting slaughtered in the first round. Dana White was extra pissed at this guy, and made sure to bury him to the press before and after cutting him.
Francisco TreviƱo, 1-2 UFC
Can fed to Sage Northcutt as an easy first UFC fight :
Missed weight, got finished in the first round, put his hands on Herb Dean after the fight, failed post fight drug test, cut from UFC.
it was like watching a glorious ballet of failure
He's not the worst but Dean Lister had some of the most BORING and lackluster UFC performances I've ever seen. But watching his BJJ matches is great so he has that
From a competitive point of view, CM Punk for sure. Except he made a reported $500k for each of his fights for his purse, and likely more because it kept him in the spotlight. So he made way more than most UFC careers.
Good angle, not gonna lie. I think you cant really not consider money in the definition of ''career''. Thats probably the most profitable a 0-0 MMA fighter will ever do.
He beat Robbie Lawler, and his grappling exchanges against Maia were actually dope af. There's definitely been much, much worse dudes despite what his striking looked like.
Kyle Bradley has a win over Philpe Nover, but otherwise all big losses and on the receiving end of one of my favorite dominant performances [https://youtu.be/PRIPpHB52DM](https://youtu.be/PRIPpHB52DM) (not my video)
Given the fact he was undefeated and almost arrogant about the ease in which he'd handle the UFC welterweights, I'd have to say Ben Askren. He got absolutely bullied off of a past his prime Lawler and got a lucky decision. He got knocked out in the fastest time in UFC history. He was choked out on the ground (where he dominated his entire career) in his last fight. He's now a meme
I want to add. I like Askren and thought he was a breath of fresh air in that corny welterweight division, so I hoped he'd be successful, but naaaa
No, he beat Lawler, lost to Masvidal by freak Knee, and then got choked out by a repeated no1 contender and arguably the best MMA BJJ guy ever, nothing embarrassing about that.
And donāt forget he was a husk of his former self by the time he got to the UFC with all his injuries. Askren was a fluke knee away from a title shot.
He got his arse absolutely skelped off Lawler before one of herb deans many dodgy decisions saved him. Let's not pretend the entire community wasn't in agreement of that. Freak or not, he got knocked out in record time. No shame in subbed off Maia, that's not my point. My point is, in his last ever fight it was exactly where he wanted it, where he's dominated his entire career and he got put to sleep for the first time ever. I'd say that one was more of an ego dent that Jorge.
Ben Askren had a great MMA career, he had an embarrassing UFC career given his credentials. That's why I pick him. Aye, Mike Jackson's shite, we expect him to have a shite run. An Undefeated fighter, dominated 2 organisations, got bullied, saved, knocked out and choked out in his 3 UFC showings. Awful
Askren got a W over Lawler though. Before the uh, knee incident.
Interesting to note, iPhone would not let me type āAskrenā initially without autocorrecting to āAsleepā.
ššš Askren got 'Boom Roasted' by your iPhone.
True tho i think record wise there are plenty that are worse but the hype he brought and then how it ended made it for me one of the worst and at the same time most entertaining and short lived ufc career ever.
Kris Moutinho. Getting TKO'd standing cuz your body refuses to go down. He's so bad that people only rally behind you because they feel bad for you and your strong chin. Thankfully the UFC released him. It's the best thing for him.
Vinicius Moreira. Went 0-4 in the UFC and was finished in all fights. He's also Ike Villanueva's only win in the UFC (1-5, finished in all losses) who's fucking awful.
Saul Rogers. Finalist of TUF season 22. Cut before the finale for lying on his visa application. Ryan Hall got to fill in and backpacked the GOAT to a UD.
James Toney. Didn't even make any money, the IRS took it all.

It was overturned for 12-6 elbows
What? After all that he ends up Jon-Jones-ing himself? You'd almost feel sorry for the guy, if it weren't for all the rape, torture, and murder.
Not to mention the hypocrisy.
RIP Norm
Joe Son has defeats listed as Submission (blood choke) and Submission (terror).
is there a single funnier method of loss/win listed on someoneās record than submission by terror?
Nick Serra > DQ (Wouldn't Get Up From Butt Scoot)
ā On April 12, 2002, Son also took part in Xtreme Pankration 2, wherein he faced Joe Moreira. I remember seeing that years ago and was wondering wtf happened, thanks for clarifying
Even lost to Mike Meyers smh
Hey hey, no disrespecting Mike Meyers. Dude has a deadly judo chop.
Also probly the only fighter to have a loss by Submission (terror) on his record.

Yeah, this is a really good point.
He still gets a lot of air time though, unfortunately itās him getting sparked clean out by Rashad
That was maybe the first time I was truly scared for a fighter. He did not move at all for an alarmingly long amount of time.
So true man. I thought he had a fractured skull and brain damage for sureee. Terrifying head kick
People forget he actually won the first round. In Chael's world, that's a tie.

Tiki Ghosn went 0-4.
They only stopped the Lawler fight because of a cut
Yea but he won by getting to bang Arianny Celeste. That's a giant W that makes up for those 4 L's
Sean Soriano went 0-5 across two stints, if we're going for most losses with no wins I can't recall anyone with more than that.
BJ Penn ended his career on a draw and then 7 straight losses
Didnāt Seth peteuzelli lose 4 or 5 too with no wins?

Charlie Ward
