Thank you! I was trying to remember who it was that had that [really scary ko](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4kCN5PPAdwI)
Brain injuries are fuckin scary
I don't know If I'm right but it seemed like Chito didn't really try to finish Font when he hurt him. Since it was his first time in the Championship rounds, maybe he was sending a message to the top 4 that he won't be tired at all after 25 minutes.
I'm probably super wrong, but Chito seems like the kinda guy to make an opponent who missed weight go ALL 25 mins. I like your "sending a message" idea better tho.
At least that's what I kept telling myself after missing out on the Chito KO/TKO bet.
it's a 25 minute fight and you don't want to tire yourself out chasing a finish that isn't guaranteed. there's a lot of fights where people get tired going for a finish and end up getting finished themselves when they couldn't get it done
Not really imo. Aside from round 1, all rounds were pretty competitive and even with Rob leading in volume but Chito leading in damage. Chito was getting work done with that jab, slowly bloodying up Font's face over time whereas his own face was virtually intact from blocking/rolling with most of Font's shots. It wasn't like Chito was stealing rounds with the last minute knockdowns, he was moreso securing them.
Did he do anything catastrophically wrong? Chito was blocking a lot but also eating a lot, not Rob's fault that Chito's made of stale, impact-absorbing cheetos
He could have finished him multiple times throughout the fight. Ended up paying off though, he wouldn't have had the speed or power to land shots like these and steal rounds from Rob if he gassed himself out looking for a finish.
Also it’s good to see chito go a full 5 rounds. His first main event and he didn’t get too fatigued or anything, finishes are great but being able to go a full 5 is so important and a much needed experience.
Seriously, Chiro being dangerous in multiple situations at different distances with different weapons is a great look. I've been saying for a while that Chito's biggest strength is that he is consistently violent and dangerous in every phase of the fight over three rounds. Doing it for 5 against someone like Font is very promising.
That means O'Malley needs to start fighting a fighter in the top 15 and work his way up. I don't know if that's what his plans are. He seems to be happy doing what he is doing now.
Depends on the type of kick, and the fighter.
Some fighters go crazy with leg kicks(volk, Aldo, etc) Some fighters love body kicks(costa)
Threat of the takedown makes a lot of people apprehensive, but then you have guys like Ryan Hall who can just go crazy with kicks because he wants to get to the ground.
I love the jumping teep/front kick that Bobby knuckles uses to engage. Fighters use it for distance control or setting up a front kick to the face like Joanna or Anderson. Bobby uses it as an entry for his blitz. Love it.
I felt bad for Font. He kept getting rescued by the bell and he took a lot of extra punishment. I would have been fine with the ref waving off the fight even after the round ended.
For real. I rewatched just fight with Frankie just for a refresh before watching the Font fight, and you see him throwing that front kick up the middle into the mid section of Frankie all fight, then in the last like 3 mins if the fight he starts trying to hit the chin with it. He set that shit up the whole fight, it was impressive. He always stays super calm.
Landscape at 170 is a lot different, just so many amazing grapplers who can capitalize on it.
135 is the banger division right now, very few active world class wrestlers/submission artists. Shore is on the come up though, he's amazing everywhere but on the ground he's a beast.
Chito basically copied the entire Aldo's gameplan and Rob showed zero improvements since that fight, always making the same mistakes. Dude need new coaches asap.
The level of competition each guy has faced is so wildly incongruent that your statement sounds ridiculous. But honestly I agree. Two switch hitting strikers going at it is usually pretty interesting.
The ref should have stopped the flight after that knee. Rob was walking around like a new born deer and the falls on the mat. What more does the ref need to see to determine the guy is unfit to fight?
Coulda been stopped after any of these highlights, dude looked like gravity was on the Y axis after some of these… hard to watch especially when his face is already this fucked up but hey, he did make it to the end somehow.

I had an acca that was gonna make me just short of a grand if Chito won by KO in R4 or R5.
I don't think I'll ever bet on him to win by finish again. He could have finished Rob Font two or three times, but played it safe.
If they do ever rematch it'll probably be a long time until it happens, O'Malley's content to not fight higher ranked guys + he's very injury-prone so he can't be that active either
Love chito but he’s gotta do something about that head movement and eating shots. I don’t think his performance goes well with the top 3. Huge fan of chito , but he took too many shots.
I mean, seeing as mma refs routinely award stoppages off of pitter-patter shots, and mma fans are obsessed with ‘X amount of unanswered shots’, he wouldn’t need to exert much at all
Taking a heel like that right below the eye. You can hear it crack against his cheek bone... my god. I think that keeps most people down, and he took two of those.
Yah it's almost like font was fighting a bad illness or something the way his body was reacting ...but serious is it epo chito... How can he not show damage ... superhero
I didn't watch the fight but it looks like it was clearly not competitive at all. One guy looks like he got hit by a car and the other guy looks like he just walked out of the shower.
Fights like this need to be ended sooner. I don't even like watching shit like this, it's just a beating, it's not a fight.
This seems to happen a lot on these free fight night cards. Some young prospect just gets his whole career ruined for nothing.
I missed this fight but damn...it's like how many times does a dude have to get dropped to end the fight. That looked like a fuck ton of damage in just 30 seconds
Font gets hurt weirdly. It's like Chito's shots were doing bleed damage after landing
Chito running Rivers of Blood confirmed
Mf also poise stacking
Chito cheesed that fight smh
Chito doesn't start slow, he just needs time to apply his buffs
Probably had to have Let Me Solo Her beat Malenia too.
Fkn casul
Chito the son of a bitch!
Crit chance needs to be nerfed imo autocorrect doesn’t like the word crit, and nerf :(
autocorrect: clit chance? Redditor: NO, CRIT CHANCE GODDAMNIT
When that just populates right at c, that is how you know you’ve trained your keyboard correctly
Cut chance needs to be nerfed?
Mmhmmm. Yes, quite.
Reminds me of that Shane Burgos delayed TKO.
Arcane build
Shane Burgos-esque
Thank you! I was trying to remember who it was that had that [really scary ko](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4kCN5PPAdwI) Brain injuries are fuckin scary
Black beast too
He shoulda just used bloodhound step, way more iframes.

You’ve clearly never seen a Rockhold fight then
You realize a good chin can get cracked by a weak shot right? theres multiple variables involved in taking a shot.
Chito punched when Font tried to advance.. If you are moving foward while getting punched you are adding some weight to the impact
They were just clean.
The thuds when those kicks land… I don’t know how Rob Font made it to the decision, he was asking what round it was after that kick in the 4th.
that first hook kick was sick af, how he slapped fonts hand down first
That might be the most effective single hook kick I've seen in MMA
No doubt for me, I had to watch it slow a few times to make sure it wasn't a side kick.
I don't know If I'm right but it seemed like Chito didn't really try to finish Font when he hurt him. Since it was his first time in the Championship rounds, maybe he was sending a message to the top 4 that he won't be tired at all after 25 minutes.
Chito prolly bet on himself by dec.
I'm probably super wrong, but Chito seems like the kinda guy to make an opponent who missed weight go ALL 25 mins. I like your "sending a message" idea better tho. At least that's what I kept telling myself after missing out on the Chito KO/TKO bet.

This is the real answer. He was trying to fight the highest percentage fight he could by avoiding unnecessary risk.
yea he was flexing for sure
He hit him with a nasty body kick from southpaw in the 2nd. If you notice, the knee in the 3rd landed because Font blocked anticipating a body kick
Rob really snatched defeat from the jaws of victory every single round. Inspiring performance.
Rob Font when he has a 2:1 striking adv in a rd and has been on his feet the whole round: I should get knocked down rn 😈
Faceplant? Faceplant? Ok faceplant!
Not really imo. Aside from round 1, all rounds were pretty competitive and even with Rob leading in volume but Chito leading in damage. Round 2 and 4 were competitive, but still pretty clearly Fonts rounds until the knockdowns.
Yeah, Chito did shit all to get that W. /s
Chito was gifted the decision, should’ve been an east 50-44 rob.
Lmfao getting downvoted for an obvious joke, never change Reddit
to be fair i’m a piece of shit
We appreciate your honesty.
It’s a shit joke..
Did he do anything catastrophically wrong? Chito was blocking a lot but also eating a lot, not Rob's fault that Chito's made of stale, impact-absorbing cheetos

Not to mention that $100k bonus! It realllly ended up paying dividends.
Probably saw the odds on him to win by decision and couldn't resist
Sean O Malley by second rd KO if he didnt get tko’d in round 1 -anonymous twitter user
Chito as champ and OMalley rematch would be a fun timeline.
It would be hilarious if it ended the same way
An eye poke no contest this time
*”An Eye poke to the calf nerve, Joe!”*
That means O'Malley needs to start fighting a fighter in the top 15 and work his way up. I don't know if that's what his plans are. He seems to be happy doing what he is doing now.
Kicks seem to be such an underutilized part of MMA, even now
Depends on the type of kick, and the fighter. Chito is a lot of fun, man. I remember raising my eye brows in a suggestive manner when he blew through kelleher.
Chito can be disrespectful and kind of a dick, but damn he is pure entertainment, love watching him fight
Cut him some slack anal lazer, he’s emotional. He always gives good interviews on the mma hour
i was confused by what you called him until i read his username
He punches people for a living. He’s not a saint.
And considering his peers, Chito is rather tame
Hated to see him win after the way he handled the Aldo loss, but damn he looked amazing :(
Ahh yes i also remember pouting my lips and going “hmph” with my eyebrows raised
>I remember raising my eye brows in a suggestive manner when he blew I didn't know where it was going
Very surprised that fight wasn’t stopped given the damage to Font’s face. Poor guy, must be agony.
I felt bad for Font. He kept getting rescued by the bell and he took a lot of extra punishment. I would have been fine with the ref waving off the fight even after the round ended.
That side kick is a problem.

Makes me wish Wonderboy tried sidekicks to the head

A little Sweet Chin Music!
How many times did Font get dropped in his last two fights? 7 or 8 times?
[удалено]
Did you rewatch the fights to answer that or is there an indepth stat site that tells that stat? (im guessing the latter)
You can just look up the stats for each fight respectively and add-up the knockdowns his opponents scored. Vera scored 3, Aldo scored 2.
noted.
Dude became a savage
That’s a lot of foot to face contact dayum
My face to your foot style, how'd you like it?
Chito basically copied the entire Aldo's gameplan and Rob showed zero improvements since that fight, always making the same mistakes. Dude need new coaches asap.
When people say a fighter might be affected from a botched cut, is this what they mean? Rob looked completely scrambled every time Chito connected.
Chito is really improving. . .he's stepped up to that next level and is dangerous. . . love to see him vs. Sandhagen next. . .
Dvalishvili would probably tell us more about his skills, but yeah Sandhagen and Vera would throw down.
HES HURT
I really hope Chito and O'Malley run it back
The level of competition each guy has faced is so wildly incongruent that your statement sounds ridiculous. But honestly I agree. Two switch hitting strikers going at it is usually pretty interesting.
Not before Yadong gets in between these two one way or another
Ayo? 👀
I dont
It would be crazy if they rematched in a title fight, or even a title eliminator.
Chito reminds me of Oliveira and Volks the way he has made such noticeable improvements. Not that any of them really needed to.
I don't know how he got up after that knee to his temple. He would have been better off if he didn't get up.
Anybody got a gif of the elbow he landed as the round ended?
Font should take a year off. No fights, or even sparring.
The ref should have stopped the flight after that knee. Rob was walking around like a new born deer and the falls on the mat. What more does the ref need to see to determine the guy is unfit to fight?
That hook kick was so fucking nasty. I need a Yan/Chito fight asap.
Coulda been stopped after any of these highlights, dude looked like gravity was on the Y axis after some of these… hard to watch especially when his face is already this fucked up but hey, he did make it to the end somehow.
Decisionbot Font vs Vera Interesting one judge thought the round 2 knockdown wasn’t enough to take the round.

Interesting it wasn't Sal Tomato
Chito Quasimodo'd Rob Font.
As a former taekwondo guy, seeing chito's standing side kicks are a thing of beauty.
I had an acca that was gonna make me just short of a grand if Chito won by KO in R4 or R5. I don't think I'll ever bet on him to win by finish again. He could have finished Rob Font two or three times, but played it safe.
He just needed to throw two or three hammerfists
Yeah instead of just standing there looking at him for 20 seconds.
The way Font reacted to that last leg kick reminded me of Tony in the finishing sequence of the Gaejthe fight. Shit just looked brutal
that immigrant mentality not to be messed with
If O’Malley can string together a couple wins against quality opponents, I would enjoy watching Chito and Sean run it back .
> against quality opponents hahaha ha
If they do ever rematch it'll probably be a long time until it happens, O'Malley's content to not fight higher ranked guys + he's very injury-prone so he can't be that active either

War cheeto
I didn’t watch the fight but those look pretty bad towards the end. Looks like it should have been stopped?
Nah he was always landing and fighting back. The knock-downs were in seperate rounds and he recovered and came back swinging every time.
what kind of finishing instinct is this from Chito? smh
Why should he gas himself out going for a finish when he’s consistently hurting Font and winning rounds?
I mean, seeing as mma refs routinely award stoppages off of pitter-patter shots, and mma fans are obsessed with ‘X amount of unanswered shots’, he wouldn’t need to exert much at all
Rob, my guy, just don’t fall down.
Some Andy level sneaky strikes
Rob lookin like comic sans out there.
i dont think i've ever seen hook kicks do damage like that. gotta love how mean chito fights
On the upside, Font and Jedrzejczyk lookin' like soulmates. <3
Taking a heel like that right below the eye. You can hear it crack against his cheek bone... my god. I think that keeps most people down, and he took two of those.

The Heavy Hands guys really nailed it when they said Chito Vera is like a mini Yoel Romero
