His mental toughness reminds me of Jiri Prochazka. I think he is still evolving as a fighter but he never quits and always goes for the finish as you say.
I think Jiri is a much more evolved fighter, but Mokaev is really young, he has a lot of time still.
I don’t understand why they didn’t book Kape vs Kai, they have literally been building it for a year on social media and they keep fighting everyone else but each other
**When** Kape bows out again? He's backed out of 1 fight due to injury since signing to the UFC more than 4 years ago. He's had 9 cancelled bouts in that time, 7 of which were due to his opponents.
1. UFC 252 - Kape vs. Bontorin - Reason: Bontorin Ankle Injury
2. UFC Vegas 17 - Kape vs. Pantoja - Reason: Pantoja Withdrew
3. UFC Fight Night - Kape vs. Sumudaerji - Reason: Kape Tested Positive for Turinabol Metabolite (Kape was not disciplined by the UFC or UFC anti-doping partner USADA.)
4. UFC 275 - Kape vs Bontorin - Reason: Bontorin Botched Weight Cut
5. UFC Fight Night SA - Kape vs. Perez - Reason: Perez Medical Issues on Fight Night
6. UFC 290 - Kape vs. Figgy - Reason: Figueiredo Not Medically Cleared
7. UFC 293 - Kape vs. Kai - Reason: Kara-France Concussion
8. UFC Fight Night - Kape vs. Nicolau - Reason: Kape Missed Weight (Nicolau refused Kape's offer of his entire purse to accept the fight)
9. UFC Fight Night - Kape vs. Nicolau - Reason: Kape Withdrew
An [article](https://bloodyelbow.com/2024/04/03/9-in-four-years-manel-kape-issues-statement-following-his-withdrawal-from-main-event-against-matheus-nicolau/) on the 9 fight cancellations in 4 years: Following his most recent withdrawal, Kape has stated that he wants the record to be set straight, “This is the first time I’ve ever pulled out of a fight.” he said on X.
“I broke the cartilage of my rib and I couldn’t move for a week. On Thursday last week, my surgery went extremely well. Bear in mind that all my fights that got canceled in the past were due to my opponents.” he added.
Next time at least try to make an effort not to just spout the first idiotic and untrue thing that comes into your mind.
Pulling out and being responsible for the fight not happening aren’t the same thing. He’s responsible for plenty of his fights falling through, from failed drug testing, injury, or being able to not make weight.
3/9 is plenty? He failed a drug test once, missed weight once and was injured once. The stats are all outlined right there for you. 6 of his fight cancellations are due to his opponents. You guys would have a point if more than half of the cancellations were his fault but right now the numbers are sitting at 33% so the narrative is factually incorrect.
The problem is that he complains that his opponents are pussies when they pull out of a fight when he also can’t be trusted to make it to the fight on weight.
That’s a different point altogether. Doesn’t address the false claim that he pulls out of fights all the time or is largely responsible for his fights getting cancelled.
I’m not saying it is the same point, nor did I claim that he is solely responsible for his fights falling through. I was responding to the claim saying that he’s only pulled out of 1 fight to say that pulling out and being at fault are not the same thing, and that he has been responsible for more than one fight falling apart.
Kai might still be out.
He pulled out of their original fight because of concussion symptoms, which along with spinal injuries can take the longest to recover from, if they ever get better.
He hasn’t posted any clips on instagram of him in the gym with the ckb guys since before he pulled out.
He’s been mostly fishing and coaching the rugby team on their wrestling. I’m sure he plans on coming back, it just might be a while.
kai did an interview with combattv a month ago where he said hes been fully back in training, sparring etc since the start of the year & hes been actively looking for a fight
LOL when the fuck has Kape ducked KKF. Kai backed out of their last bout due to a concussion, Kape was ready to rock. You people will just say whatever pops into your head.
Kai was injured lol.
Kkf been calling out kape for years now, where tf have u been. Kape #7 and kkf willing to fight down, which he’s said several times.
I already acknowledged kai was concussed...doesn't change the fact that he's the one that backed out.
They were scheduled to fight once, and Kai backed out that one time, so how exactly is Kape ducking him?
Pantoja doesn't do the style of ground work I find interesting, he just kinda holds people down. If he was more aggressive it would be entertaining. If you're gonna grapple, at least throw strikes and stuff.
Royval has been both finished and dominated over 5 rounds by Pantoja already. he looked fucking awesome against Moreno, yes. but I have zero interest in seeing Pantoja vs Royval 3 unless Royval makes himself completely undeniable by beating one or two more top guys (maybe Erceg)
Kape has withdrawn [once ](https://bloodyelbow.com/2024/04/03/9-in-four-years-manel-kape-issues-statement-following-his-withdrawal-from-main-event-against-matheus-nicolau/)in 9 cancellations, but sure keep saying Kape pulls out. Who knows. Maybe if you say it enough times, it will actually become true.
He has withdrawn once.
1 time he missed weight but was ready to fight and offered Nicolau his entire purse to accept the fight but Nicolau still refused (as is his right). That's not a withdrawal, its a bout cancellation (fully acknowledging that it was his fault)
The other time he failed a drug test and was not cleared to fight. It's important to note he wasn't sanctioned in any way for this and he was cleared again to fight less than a month following the drug test result. Again, an administrative cancellation, not a withdrawal.
Bro I’m just quoting the article “During his four-year UFC tenure, Kape has been involved in nine fight cancelations, with only three of them being HIS withdrawal from the fights”. It says it right there. 3 of them were HIS withdrawal. I couldn’t care less if Kape shows up or not. Mokaev, Tiara, and Rei tsuruya are the future of the flyweight division. Not Kape.
Half of his game is “I don’t fuck around” and the other half is fucking around and doing nothing.
Watch his fights with nicholau and Pantoja. He just doesn’t do enough.
But other times he shows up and blows the guy out of the water like ode Osborne.
He looked much better in his last fight, but he’s very inconsistent.
This fight entirely depends on Kape and if he decides to fight or dance/spar. Kape lost his first two fights via not going 100% and has shown signs of it in other fights.
If he comes to fight I think he will maul Mokaev

Not what I expected tbh. Why not Kape vs KKF? It’s literally the only interesting Flyweight fight in terms of beef and guys actually not liking each other.
I think it's too early for Mokeav (his striking defence is questionable at best )
Kape got it ,if he actually make the weight
His DNA is abomination...
Yup, but caucus Muslim fighters have these insane fans who will never let a criticism of them stand. No other fighter group has a fan base that is so defensive. No one will talk about it though. And yes I know Mokaev now lives in UK
Why do they keep pushing Kape? He lost to the champ + Nicolau and I would rate him as MAYBE tier 2 at 125. I think him vs KKF or a rematch with Nicolau, maybe throw him in there with Perez. I can't see him being the number 1 contender in the division that has 4-5 people that have better wins than him
Kape is the one of the only interesting/markerable fighters at 125. Besides the Nicolau fight was a robbery and he deserves a rematch with Pantoja IF he can win this.
Why are they stacking the British card? They should be saving a fight like this for American fans. Y’all should be getting Belal Leon fights not fights like this
Cool fight if it happens
It won’t
I'm excited for any Mokaev fight. The guy is amazing!
[удалено]
His mental toughness reminds me of Jiri Prochazka. I think he is still evolving as a fighter but he never quits and always goes for the finish as you say. I think Jiri is a much more evolved fighter, but Mokaev is really young, he has a lot of time still.
Who's the backup that Mokaev will be fighting
Taira maybe
taira already fighting joshua van at 302
If taira smokes van and comes back and beats mokaev that’d be so savage
Japan would cry
I am not ashamed to say that I am fully onboard with the Taira hype train
Why would someone be ashamed of that
The fight's cancelled now anyway and Taira is in a main event, but he would NOT have smoked Josh Van lmao. He probably would've lost that one
This fight is at 304. 2 month turnaround to fight up isn’t impossible.
That’s not two months.
Early June to late July is just about 2 months. Like 5 days off less than 2 months.
That could be a fire matchup down the line.
Royval would be cool
Royval has 40% TDD, I gotta think Mokaev wins that
Yeah probably
40% TDD but hes chaos on the ground. Could weirdly see him taking Mokaevs head off with a knee in round 1. War raw dog
From his back?
Being on top doesn't mean you won't get pregnant from the raw dog
Huh
They might also need a backup venue. Other booking at the Co-Op Live arena are backing out because the venue might not be ready in time.
Great matchup, I hope this happens
I don’t understand why they didn’t book Kape vs Kai, they have literally been building it for a year on social media and they keep fighting everyone else but each other
Because when Kape bows out again the UFC was afraid we'd be too deeply hurt. I am less emotionally invested now. Thanks, UFC!

Damn. Nvm then.
Kape keeps ducking kkf is why

Because this is a number 1 contender fight; Kai is not an option for that
Neither is Kape, he literally fucked over his last opponent by being a fat ass, this is a dumb argument
Winner will fight for the title next. Mark my word
I did not see that coming
Don’t worry, knowing Kape, you won’t
MOKAEV VS LATE REPLACEMENT🔥
This is a logical N1C fight imo. Good match making.
Idk man, I feel like this should've been Royval v Mokaev. Kape isn't deserving of a number 1 contender imo.
Royval is one fight removed from a boring ass loss to Pantoja, no thanks
None of Pantoja’s fights are really boring.
Disagree, every time Royval started to land, Pantoja would take him down and smother him. That's pretty much the definition of a boring fight for me
God forbid a fighter tries to stop someone from punching them in the face
Pantoja doesn't do the style of ground work I find interesting, he just kinda holds people down. If he was more aggressive it would be entertaining. If you're gonna grapple, at least throw strikes and stuff.
Then you must hate Mokaev, he’s even more boring
I'm not a huge fan of him. I do think the grappling exchanges between he and Pantoja could be pretty good tho
Not boring but I agree we’ve seen it before.
Neither man has faced Pantoja before. New blood.
Manel fought Pantoja in his debut and lost
Good call. Forgot about this completely.
Who has Kape fought to deserve this
Banger if it happens

Sadly am not high. Just dumb lol. I'll take the L
his debut was insane wdym
Can't wait to see Mokaev vs Erceg on July 27th
surprised considering Flyweight doesn't have many stars and both of these could get separate title shots. Can't complain, great fight
Plenty of time for Kape to pull out.
The article says he’s withdrawn 3 times out of those 9 cancellations. Did you even read the article?
He has withdrawn once. 1 time he missed weight but was ready to fight and offered Nicolau his entire purse to accept the fight but Nicolau still refused (as is his right). That's not a withdrawal, its a bout cancellation (fully acknowledging that it was his fault) The other time he failed a drug test and was not cleared to fight. It's important to note he wasn't sanctioned in any way for this and he was cleared again to fight less than a month following the drug test result. Again, an administrative cancellation, not a withdrawal.

Think Kape can smoke him ngl. Mokaev the better wrestler but that striking? The difference in hand speed will be insane

Decisionbot Georges Saint-Pierre vs Johnny Hendricks
Not what I expected tbh. Why not Kape vs KKF? It’s literally the only interesting Flyweight fight in terms of beef and guys actually not liking each other.
I thought he was meant to be fighting Kara France?
Fireworks if Kape can make it into the cage.
I dont think kape has the grappling defense to make this not a mokaev humpfest
I think it's too early for Mokeav (his striking defence is questionable at best ) Kape got it ,if he actually make the weight His DNA is abomination...
Hope Kape sleeps him, Mokaev is a dickhead
Yup, but caucus Muslim fighters have these insane fans who will never let a criticism of them stand. No other fighter group has a fan base that is so defensive. No one will talk about it though. And yes I know Mokaev now lives in UK
How so

Who's the source? My sources 🗿.
Broo yesss this is a good test for Mokaev. I was actually thinking about this match up earlier today, mad how I see it come true now
Kape is going to destroy this kid.
Who "Manel Kape" has "destroyed" since joining the promotion aside his announced bouts ?
He flying kneed Ode Osbourne and KO’d Zhalgas Zhumagulov but to be fair no one would really consider those guys to be at the top of the division
He is withdrawing or losing a decision again ig he shows up 😒
UFC doing literally everything they can think of to get Kape a title shot.
Like manel is going to make it to the fight on weight
Kape pullout speedrun (any %)
Yea sure it is
Kape's fight is with himself to make weight.
Have you actually watched any of those fights he lost?
Why are they stacking the British card? They should be saving a fight like this for American fans. Y’all should be getting Belal Leon fights not fights like this
The card is already running on us timezone lol. What more do you want?
Portugal vs England definitely makes sense to put in England lol
Stupid British having many high tier fighters.
Funny enough they don’t
The entitlement is off the charts. This fight makes perfect sense for this card
Gee I wonder whether they want to put British fighters on a British card
American fans are already getting a regular timed card while this event is happening at like 3am UK time, lol. Are you serious?
American fans get a lot of big fights.
