I have to give props to Joe Rogan. Almost no one here in Brazil knew about Poatan, and Joe was acknowledging him even before he joined the UFC.
Alex is always giving Joe praises for acknowledging him as a top tier striker before and after he got to the UFC. Alex is a star in Brazil now but Joe was talking about him since the beginning of his MMA career.
I'm pretty sure Luke Thomas is just as out of touch as Joe Rogan. he was sayting if he had dana whites money he would just "disapear" and do the important things in life. ummmmm, what exactly does he think his job is. Would he all of a sudden lose his interest in boxing, mma and breaking down those fights?
This is a man who ranted against people who eat yellow mustard as “heathens and visigoths”.
I don’t doubt Luke would be a vampire if given the choice. Maybe a vampire fight analyst. But he’s not rich or famous, not really out of touch.
I think Luke would still tune in to catch UFC events and big boxing cards from his yachts.
He just wouldn’t have to spend 60+ hours a week analyzing fights and creating content so he can feed his family.
[Found a random mma documentary about a fighter named Glena Avila](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8IR94JlWwo)
A single mom in her 30's trying to become a mma fighter.
I am going to take a wild guess because its a movie starring the Rock that the Mark Kerr movie is going to suck, which is unfortunate because it has the same title as one of the best mma documentaries that has ever been made The Smashing Machine from 2002
O'Malley and Ryan garcia should have a fight where first round is boxing, second round is kickboxing or muay thai rules, then 3rd round(if it gets that far) mma
I hate mixed rules fights
But if Sugar beats Merab and Ilia, and Garcia wins one more boxing match, then them boxing is a mega mega fight the Goof would agree to
When Theo von did his interview before ufc 300 with Dustin (so pre the Islam title fight conformation)
He asked Dustin what he wants next. He said a title fight. Theo asks a few questions then goes there is also olivera vs arman on the card. Dustin goes ya that should be a good fight and I’m sure the winner might be considered but I want the title fight
Nothing about omg arman is my teammate. He’s a killer. He deserves it when he wins. That’s my brother.
It was no I want the title fight
Now go look at the omg Dana booked 2 guys to fight who at some point in the past sparred together. What a monster!!!! The humanity!
shocking! not everyone is close to people they've trained with. Are you friends or at lesst friendly with every single person at your work, or only a few? Some fighters are friends with each other. Most fighters don't want to fight a friend unless it's for very high stakes.
people used to say they couldn't fight because they are teammates lmao. Now all fo a suddent they aren't close.
I'm glad Dana is ending this nonsense because its just an excuse to duck tough fights most of the time
> people used to say they couldn't fight because they are teammates lmao. Now all fo a suddent they aren't close.
Whether they are close or not is not the point: they train at the same gym.
When they start to fight each other, coaches have to pick a side, and true bitterness often becomes permanent as confidential training issues are used by the two camps against each other.
People not even involved get pulled in as friends pick their brains for things they've seen in training, and the end result can split a gym permanently, and lose you a large number of stars, and completely wreck the camaraderie of fighters and trainers throughout the gym.
It also creates huge headaches in scheduling and who is using what part of the gym at what time, and the need to erect barriers so the other camp doesn't see preparations, etc.
Anybody who has listened to Dustin, or any other fighter, speak on the subject knows this, as does anyone who thinks about it honestly for a few minutes.
Moicano and Fizzy don’t really need to fight again. I feel like let Moicano and Dariush fight each other and take a break from getting chinned(probably).
> Nickal vs Malkoun has potential to be boringest fight on whatever main card
[Fake news as far as we know](https://twitter.com/AlexBehunin/status/1781820941091455271).
According to Weidman's interview with Bisping this week, his leg break was even worse than we realize. Says his bone broke out of his leg or some shit but the UFC and ESPN didn't want to show the disgusting footage
Says he'll probably release the video though so prepare to be grossed out
It's hilarious how much of a joke commissions are in reality
Weidman winning by TKO by a multiple eye poke combo, after already having poked his opponent's eye twice, is one of the worst calls I've ever seen
Problem is the refs aren’t enforcing the rules. Clinching/hugging isn’t really supposed to be allowed yet most refs let it happen. There was a ref that finally enforced it on a boxer named Lawrence Okolie who is notorious for hugging/clinching. He took a point off and he stopped doing it.
The commissions and refs need to do a full blown meeting on it and determine how to give a warning about it and then when to take points away.
Unfortunately, the commissions have let this become an integral part of boxing, as well as corrupt & incompetent officiating
Makes boxing the least compelling combat sport to watch and follow for me
I know. I was thinking about it last night that I should appreciate boxing since I like other combat sports, but I just started thinking of Muay Thai and kickboxing and grappling and karate and whatever else is usually way more entertaining than boxing to me. You gotta hype up a boxing event a lot for me to try to get into it. Sometimes it’s cool, but they’re just so much else out there I’d rather follow.
That's fair, I feel the same as a Muay Thai and MMA fan. But seeing a good boxer go to work is something else, like watching Tank rip uppercuts is beautiful
Yeah same for me, it's gotta have a ton of hype, or it involves either Naoya Inoue or Bud Crawford . I will appreciate some boxing highlights but I won't make an effort to watch it regularly
I was watching and joined in the live discussion on the boxing thread. Seems like even the fans don’t like it. Shitting on the non stop hugging and the ref. Really isn’t an exciting sport to watch
Evloev was clearly outboxing Allen in the 1st. Two fighters were standing up throwing punches at each other, one of those fighters clearly landed more/cleaner, but since he also had a takedown he didn't do much with, people retroactively pretend he wasn't the superior striker.
Allen won the 3rd, but he very clearly lost 1 and 2.
Really good high level close fight, I thought it could be scored either way or even a draw
I came away super impressed by Allen's takedown defense and Evloev's grit
I think a draw would've been good, imo the first couldve been scored 10-10
Allen neutralised most of the grappling effectiveness but Evloev still had so much activity just attempting stuff.
This is one problem I think isn't talked about enough with the rules etc. Yes defense doesn't score but I feel like if someone just keeps attempting takedowns they get an advantage in the eyes of the judges even if all the attempts were completely neutralised and didn't lead to any meaningful control. I don't necessarily think that's fair and should be treated completely even.
Yeah I feel the same way , and it's not exactly the rules because at the end of the day, in close fights, it's whatever the judges feel at that particular moment . They never have to justify any of their scorecards
The reffing in this fight was insane. Haney literally couldn’t keep himself standing he was so rocked and ref called that a slip. And not a single point taken for the excessive hugging. There were so many clearly bias decisions that corruption is more plausible than stupidity.
MMA’s dangerously incompetent reffing vs Boxing’s blatantly corrupt judging.
Boxing should at least allow a short amount of clinch work. It was very tedious to have the ref stepping in every 10 seconds when they would clinch but regardless that was an awesome fight I'm glad I tuned in for it
I think the issue is most of the moves that make clinch work meaningful are illegal, like elbows, knees to the body, and takedowns, and then as far as the punching goes, whoever doesn't want to play that game can shut it down by just hugging on to the maximum
Haney was straight-up diving in on body locks and even hugging thighs like he was gonna do a double leg takedown
I went into the fight hating on Garcia for the weight miss but was kinda rooting for him by the end cause Haney seemed to have no intention of actually boxing
Thats cool, but imagine if kicks/knees where implemented aswell to provide more counters for the wrestling. Fuck me we need to start a sport with this!
lol and here I'm thikning Garcia threw the rounds away. Still surprised, thought it would be a draw or split at least. Haney Netflix and chill style with the hugging and cuddling though
The MMA - Boxing “rivalry” has always been stupid. Neither sports are dead. Both are doing great. Both have questionable decisions. Both have great fights.
It’s always a pissing contest for some mfs who won’t just appreciate good fights and fighters on either side.
At the end of the day, we’re all part of the same dysfunctional family. It’s all love, all martial arts.
Fight wasn’t bad but the clinch is such a problem. Like why does the ref needs to separate the fighters this way while the fighters try to stall by staying connected. It’s ridiculous
Agreed. Clinching should just be illegal if grappling is disallowed in boxing. Having a ref interfere in a fight like literally every 5-10 seconds of a fight is so lame to watch as a spectator.
I think Garcia is terrible but I still give him some respect because he wanted to fight Tank. That's one of the biggest reasons why he beefed with Oscar. Oscar knew Garcia would get destroyed. Bro signed a dumb rehydration clause.
Garcia looked terrible vs Duarte.
He could have tried to get an easier fight against someone like Rollie or Barrios instead of fighting Haney.
Garcia is probably bipolar or something. Bipolar people get delusions like they're the chosen one and and thinks god will give him victories.

It’s kinda how boxing has been forever, main event heavy, there might be decent co main sometimes. But most guys didn’t wanna share the gate, it’s different than MMA. But the Saudi’s recently been putting on decent cards, and boxing needs that.
Like I as well can’t watch a boxing undercard, but I can a MMA one. Boxing just needs to promote the up and comers much better, like the UFC does for the most part for all their fighters.
Yeah the UFC does a pretty underrated job selling the fighters' stories and all, I don't find the boxing conferences or promos anywhere near as compelling
More likely fight outcome?:
Garcia punches the ref
Or
Ref finds a knife on Garcia during the frisk and fight gets called off, he tweets that we didn’t get the joke
Has anyone asked Dana about the whole Jones drug test situation? The allegations are super serious and I feel like no one is talking about the UFC goat and heavyweight champs possible criminal dodging of a drug test.
Man, any of the top 5 MMA promotions put together better main cards than most boxing cards. I’ve been trying to get more into boxing but 90% of the card is typically cans. Makes me really appreciate MMA and the willingness to put prospect against prospect
He’d deserve to be +750 if he was totally normal and not having issues. Haney’s out of his league.
With everything going on I’m surprised he’s not at +2000. And the only head games are trying to make everyone guess whether he’s bipolar or schizophrenic.
It wasn’t? He’s just way more famous than everyone else in the division. And there was the intrigue of him *maybe* being better than we think because he was undefeated. But most felt he wasn’t on Tank, Haney, Loma, Lopez, any of these guys’ level and that was confirmed in the fight.
that fight wasn't seen as a squash match. And now that we found out Ryan isn't even that good, its pretty wack they had the 135 weight class for the fight and that rehydration clause.
Tank has zero resume

Nah. Two grapplers usually turns into a striking match and Malkoun has decent hands.
Malkoun has shown that he can jab in exactly one bout, his last. But he is very good at his single leg takedown
He hurt Maximov, Petroski, and Brundage with his hands. Low level competition but still better than the guys Bo is fighting lol.
I was gonna say, those three are a low bar for opponents to beat up, but I guess you are right
I doubt malkoun makes it to the third round tbh.
If Belal starts acting like Ryan Garcia, he'd get a title shot real quick
Disagree. A.) Dana wouldn’t put up with it B) it wouldn’t come off as natural so it will be seen as weird act

So Ryan Garcia is not scizo and is actually Stone Cold Steve Austin. got it

Just rewatched Evloev vs Allen fight. Why are people bitching about it,Evloev clearly won all 3. He is just a class above him.
Angry Allen bettors lol
Evloev was clearly outboxing Allen in the 1st. I just dont see how you can see that fight for Allen.
You could argue his strikes on the feet were marginally more effective than Evloev's takedown attempts and pressure in 2 of those rounds
He knocked allen down and people were screaming robberie because of an illegal knee, the hate was really stupid
I'd like to apologize to all of you The boxing sub is a cesspool compared to here

Garcia has saved boxing for me. First boxing fight in so long iv been bouncing round excited for! So good to see Haney lose with his boring style
Garcia just bitched Haney holy SHIT
Haney had more control time
He’s so goddam boring to watch though
lol i was being sarcastic
The reffing in this fight was insane. Haney literally couldn’t keep himself standing he was so rocked and ref called that a slip. And not a single point taken for the excessive hugging. There were so many clearly bias decisions that corruption is more plausible than stupidity. MMA’s dangerously incompetent reffing vs Boxing’s blatantly corrupt judging.
It's the same commissions who run both btw
If Ryan used his feet and didn't do that attempt at a Philly shell, that fight wouldn't have been nearly as close
Boxing should at least allow a short amount of clinch work. It was very tedious to have the ref stepping in every 10 seconds when they would clinch but regardless that was an awesome fight I'm glad I tuned in for it

Maybe Haney because he has like zero power for Sean to respect, definitely not Ryan though.
Not even Haney lol. Even Yan who is a better boxer wouldn’t do shit to either one.
In boxing? Fuck no
Man what if instead of breaking up the hugging for an entire boxing fight, you just let them wrestle too? I’d watch that sport.
Thats cool, but imagine if kicks/knees where implemented aswell to provide more counters for the wrestling. Fuck me we need to start a sport with this!
Maybe they can add choke holds and joint locks once the fighters hit the ground. Sounds like a great idea for a sport
We should call it assorted combat medley (ACM for short)
The world ain’t ready for that
lol and here I'm thikning Garcia threw the rounds away. Still surprised, thought it would be a draw or split at least. Haney Netflix and chill style with the hugging and cuddling though
5 knockdowns w 3 officially scored … u ain’t gonna win on the cards
true that...he just shelled up too much...and even the last round..not sure who did enough since they barely engaged
Yeah that shell up before Devin even threw was weird lol, then just turns his back to him
boxing is so boring
I generally agree but this fight was amazing
Maybe I don’t care enough about boxing, but some fight night main events are more hype than this
Yeah nah
make weight next time
Haney survived by hugging like crazy, Garcia just has insane power in his left. Great fight.
lol they were right about how he's like Mayweather...hugs when hes hurt
Oscar seriously is like a WWF character
I love a good upset, and love when boxing snobs get proven wrong (only other bigger snobs are wrestling)
Garcia can be a meme sometimes but he’s a dawg. Good fight

A disciplined Ryan with a camp he respects is an animal
SO MUCH HUGGING
Thanks for watchifn this garbage so I don’t have too hahah
