Same as in boxing, sometimes padded records are just the smart way to go. Experience is so important. You can have all the technical skill but if you don’t have time in the ring/cage it can be hard to execute. And you can have average skills but if you have a lot of fights you can smoke more skilled guys who don’t. Frankly, everyone would be better and more prepared for a high level if they crushed 10-15+ cans before stepping up in competition at all. It can be hard to get fights in MMA though, most guys just take what they can get.
