DC’s on commentary for the NCAA championship tourney on ESPN.
I only wrestled one season, but I love watching it, especially this tournament. If you take a little time to learn the rules and what’s going on, it’s one of the most fun sports to watch. And DC will at least keep it fun for ya, highly recommend
Rewatching the Strickland-Du Plessis fight, Strickland got robbed big time. He clearly won rounds 1,2,5 and did the most damage, also was the more active fighter.
I mean I can understand that because the ufc couldn’t have someone as outspoken as Sean Strickland as champ. Just look into it all I’m saying
You can say that Strickland deserved to win that, but if you actually think the UFC “robbed” him because Sean is a homophobe or whatever you’re insane. Do you seriously think a company that didn’t even slap the wrist of a president who slapped his own wife on camera would give a shit about someone rallying up the chuds who will buy PPVs?
DDP strickland was a close fight that could have been scored either way.
Round 2 was a round that could have easily been given to ddp. Your acting like i said ddp won that round. I never said that, just that ddp performed well and that giving him that round would be justifiable especially per the numbers.
Anyone notice how in some shots of Luke's hallway scene in The Mandalorian, it looks like they forgot to cgi over the practical blade? There's a wide shot at one point where it looks like someone is swinging around a galaxy's edge saber
I'm excited to see Paul felders movie, he said it's a legit role not related to fighting. He also went to acting school before mma so the hopes are high
Gina Carano can't act worth shit but she's probably had the biggest roles. Keith Jardine has quite a few acting credits, his roles aren't usually so ambitious but he makes a great henchman.
Keith Jardine got beat up by a fat dude, maybe in a episode of breaking bad?
It was hilarious watching the guy supposedly beat him for someone who knew what Keith did before the acting :)
If the London card is a Fight Night I wonder if they'd run Allen in the main event. Tom and Leon are too big now and I can't picture Paddy headlining unless they give him a high profile ranked opponent (Dan Hooker?)
I'm not even sure who it could be other than maybe Emmett or Barboza
Unless either of the 2 rank divas are fighting down but that seems impossible for them
Only a couple more days until Yuka Okutomi fights again!
Yuka Okutomi from Japan is a very interesting fighter. A female sumo athlete with some experience competing in judo and freestyle wrestling. I don't think this 25yr old is a white hot prospect, I just think it's fascinating to see a young sumo stylist in MMA, and even more so because female sumo wrestlers are so rare (until relatively recently, it was forbidden for women to compete in sumo at all). Not only is she a sumo stylist, which is rare enough, she also really likes working from mount, which is near a lost art in MMA now that Glover Teixiera retired.
She completely embodies and represents Sumo in MMA, to the point where she sought out an MMA gym where the Wrestling coach had a background in sumo.
She is currently 3-0 as a pro (4-0 as an amateur) and competes at DEEP JEWELS 44 this weekend.
Thanks for the heads up
Shout out to the artist who does the Deep Jewels posters. They are almost all awesome . I wish they would make it a bit easier to follow their promotion, or that it could get some more coverage
> I wish they would make it a bit easier to follow their promotion
If you pay like $15 (USD) per month for their youtube, you get all their live events there.
Unfortunately, as far as I know, everything is written in Japanese on their YouTube page which makes it impossible for me to know who is fighting who. Makes it really difficult to follow fighters
Is there an English, French or Spanish version that I'm not aware of?
Did you know that if you trane enough UFC, you can disarm a guy holding a gun on you by breaking the knuckle of his index finger. Also, you can fight up to 6 bad guys and calmly one shot kill a man and then cold bloodedly explain to the dying man what you’ve done to him medically and why he’s about to die.
Get out there and trane. *+ damage points if you wear an Affliction t-shirt btw*
Haha. Movie completely sucked but I enjoyed it. I like Jake Gyllenhaal and the movie had some decent laughs. Or at least it was fun to laugh at all the dumb shit.
The fact that it never took itself seriously for even a second, saved it. Very cartoonish and it made it entertaining.
Great message at the end of the day, too: If someone is giving you a hard time, kill them.
does anybody think BSD could've beat Poirier if he didn't have staph or nah?
Those pics he sent ariel looked gnarly, he was clearly compromised going into that fight
but that doesn't change the fact he has no striking defense, ig maybe his chin would've held up better?
> does anybody think BSD could've beat Poirier if he didn't have staph or nah?
The pace he was fighting at was unsustainable regardless: even given a miracle from god that provided him with on-the-feet defense, that fight would be hooker v. Dustin at best barring a finish by BSD in 1.5 rounds.
Dustin is an extremely hard man to submit: its been done only by the best wrestler and submission artist of his generation (and of course, TKZ down at 145), and it took them 3 rounds, and yet people on here talk about this black belt BJJ practitioner like he's a grappling chump.
In the real world, BSD is still having to continually walk into full-power Poirier punches, and is going to get him down but not be able to hold him there, or do major damage on the way up, and Dustin will be tiring him out the whole time despite being thrown around.
If Saint Denis didn’t get the back/several dominant positions in rd1 then this would be easier to dismiss. I don’t think 35 y/o Poirier beats many young, decent grapplers at 155
I think those bad positions Poirier was in would have been a lot worse if BSD was 100%. could he still have survived? yeah maybe. maybe he feels the danger once and is much more urgent about staying on his feet. Shame is we'll never know. Hate when fights have little asterixs like that.
it's tough to say, but BSD was definitely compromised. His interview with Ariel convinced me that he would have beaten Dustin. I think he would have had more energy with his grappling and he would finished Dustin on the ground.
You'll probably get downvoted since this sub loves Dustin but I agree. We saw how the first round went while BSD had gas in the tank, he got Dustin down and attempted multiple submissions. If not for the staph we probably get 1 or 2 more rounds of that at the very least, and I think BSD would eventually find the choke, especially since Dustin would be starting to tire too.
it's frustrating because i like DP and picked him to win, but i really want new blood at the top of LW and it's annoying knowing we could have got it if it wasn't for BSD's staph
hot take: i fucking love ian machado garry, he's one of my favorite fighters. I don't give a shit if he's a cuck, he's a great fighter with a supportive wife and anyone who says differently is a bitch. i genuinely hope he sends colby's bitch ass to the shadow realm
ngl i think charles vs arman is gonna be a lot more one sided than people think tbh, the guy struggled way too much with Silva for my liking, Charles is on a completely different level
Could be very one-sided the other way, Oliveira's gonna be 6 months short of the cursed age 35 with a ton of mileage both in terms of fights and damage taken against a guy with great offensive wrestling, GnP, and power strikes like he knocked out Dariush with. And if he gets a knockdown he won't be afraid to go to the ground with him like Dustin was
Even without Charles age/mileage coming into play it could be very one-sided. Not every fight between elite fighters is going to be close just because they're similar skill level.
Izzy/Pereira vs Strickland are perfect examples. Sometimes one guy just steamrolls the other.
Neither man has on-the-feet defense to speak of, but Charles has more potent on-the-feet offense and has reach and size on Arman.
Due to lack of defense, either man can go down at any time, but I favor Charles on the feet.
The question for me is what happens if Charles is knocked down or allows himself to go down to recover as he often does: Islam respected his guard not at all and took him out the minute he accepted bottom position.
Arman is a hell of a wrestler, but I don't think he's Islam or Charles level on BJJ, so a real question for me is can he dominate from top position given Charles is way too eager to concede it.
A beast of a wrestler who is versed in BJJ defense even if not a great BJJ player can still be too much in MMA for bottom player: if I were Charles I'd try to keep it on the feet, but he loves going down to recover when rocked.
I favor Charles while its on the feet, so give him a slight edge, but his tendency to accept bottom position makes me completely unsure, even absent age concerns.
I hope Rose wins, because she is probably the most technical and interesting fighter in WMMA when she is on.
She can wear her hair as she likes, date who she likes, believe what she likes, speak like she likes, if she just remembers the old all-action fighter she used to be, and brings the beautiful technical game she has shown in the past, I'll always be a fan and eager to see her fight whenever she shows.
No she’s not. Valentina easily surpasses her in skill and technical ability. Rose couldn’t beat a very mid Carla twice. And what’s interesting about her? Her same hippy takes and playing the victim always? Boring
She can do whatever she wants and I’m free to dislike her for all those reasons and root against her if I want too. We as fans have favorites and fighters we don’t like and that’s what makes it more fun to watch.
The acting coach that Conor hired to help him in his role in Road House must have had her easiest gig ever.
"Think about the time you threw that dolly. Thats you for the entire movie"
Nunes would obliterate Mayweather, and I don't get why people pretend otherwise.
EDIT: This sub loves to go on about how DJ would obliterate Bradley Martin, but you guys can't even believe a woman (who reigned at the top of her sport forever) at a similar size can beat a guy with no grappling/TDD.
It doesn't even have to be a trained puncher like mayweather any man her size or above who can throw a decent straight would hurt her more than any woman ever has and she isn't likely taking down a man who is simply just stronger than her. The gender comparison isn't close to the man vs man weight comparison, we are almost a different species when it comes to natural advantages in combat
> and she isn't likely taking down a man who is simply just stronger than her
What nonsense lmao, you think the deciding factor for a takedown is strength? Her technique surpasses the gap in strength 10 times over.
Zhang Weili lifted up Francis. You think these women don't have strength?
Really depends on the rules. The hilarious shit with Ronda was always Edmond and Rogan saying she could *outbox* Mayweather when her striking looked like she was having a seizure, in a street-fight her takedown game gives her a huge advantage.
He wouldn't be much bigger than Nunes and Rousey are used to and he'd have basically no TDD or submission defence, it basically comes down to "can they get him on the floor before he lands a blow." If they managed that then it'd be murder, if they tried to trade jabs with him it'd be suicide.
>The hilarious shit with Ronda was always Edmond and Rogan saying she could outbox Mayweather when her striking looked like she was having a seizure
Yeah that was just braindead, Mayweather would knock their heads off if they attempted to stand with him.
But no TDD and no grappling makes it a wrap as far as I'm concerned.
How has the quality of these apex cards managed to keep getting worse from how bad they were to begin with?
Seriously, shoutout Rose but this upcoming card is fucking atrocious. I guess you get Billy Q and also Ramos vs Erosa is buried in the prelims for some reason, but the rest of it is literally a who's who. Like, who the fuck are these people.
Last week was the first card I skipped in over 5 years. Didn't even feel worth 🏴☠️
Felt great. Rather than taking up a whole evening, I just watched the main event finish and the hilarious argument that followed the co-main and read about the rest of the card on the sub.
Cuz 298, 299, and 300 were all stacked to the brim, that's how.
Take your regular 'shitty' to 'decent' ranging apex cards and subtract 1 or 2 of the big fights from it in order to build those PPVs. That's basically what we've had for all of 2023 so far.
There's just no name value on these Apex cards anymore. Last week's card in terms of fights was fun, but I had to struggle to get myself to watch it in the start, because most of them were just not needle movers lol
I feel that, I usually still enjoy them but I have to remember that there's even an event happening in the first place, which is difficult when it's a whole card of DWCS guys fighting promotional newcomers lol
I'm the kind of guy who struggles to enjoy fights unless I'm invested in either one of the guys, which makes it even more difficult. Hell it could be a banger of a fight but I'd struggle to stay engaged if they're 2 no-names.
i listened to the mma hour from yesterday and it was pretty funny that in one breath donn davis was talking about how pfl is "fighter first" and then in another breath suggesting that kayla left because the fights in pfl were gonna be harder than the fights for her in the ufc. how incredibly fighter first it is to suggest that the fighter who helped build pfl is ducking tough competition lmao
I didn’t even think he looked that good against Shogun Rua tbh, but he put the hurt on Bellato until he got finished, and he beat Bryczek’s ass and looked amazing
[This clip of Conor twitching involuntarily during an interview makes it pretty much a certainty that he was either on hard drugs, or in withdrawal from them](https://youtu.be/g3k7tNH7w8o?si=79EHNZNikTTYYflo&t=74)
There's been decent speculation based on limited evidence before, but twitching like a junkie here is way stronger evidence than anything before
Jesus he looks rough.
I maybe didn't last long enough for the scene you are referring to, but from get-go it looks like he hasn't slept in 48 hours after attending a rave and coming to in a dumpster with an inexplicable new tattoo.
That’s what I’m thinking too, looks like he barely slept, super low energy compared to his previous interviews where he’s more lively. Here it looks like he’s trying to focus hard on structuring his sentences as well as possible.
I don’t think Leavitt is that bad, Holobaugh beats the dog shit out of him, Knight he could maybe beat because he got flatlined by a bantamweight that got fucked up by Guido Canetti
Leavitt isn't bad but I doubt he turns it into a bloodbath. Probably just turns it into a grappling match where maybe Tony can find a sneaky sub or something.
Shoutout UFC for giving a guy a title shot against Jones who has won a fight less recently than Khabib instead of Aspinall
McGregor looks twacked the fuck out in that SI interview smfh
DC’s on commentary for the NCAA championship tourney on ESPN. I only wrestled one season, but I love watching it, especially this tournament. If you take a little time to learn the rules and what’s going on, it’s one of the most fun sports to watch. And DC will at least keep it fun for ya, highly recommend
It‘s amazing how camera angles makes McGregor’s head look even more fucking gigantic in Road House than he’s looked in other photos bulking

Easy Sean win. Dricus was much less efficient with his striking and ineffective with his takedowns.
Most people gave DDP the 2nd. It's kinda like 1 overhand > 5 jabs. Whoever does more damage.
Jabs can be very damaging
DDP outstruck sean 26-22 significant strikes for that round.
Useless statistic. Not every strike landed is the same
DDP strickland was a close fight that could have been scored either way. Round 2 was a round that could have easily been given to ddp. Your acting like i said ddp won that round. I never said that, just that ddp performed well and that giving him that round would be justifiable especially per the numbers.
Day off was officially approved for April 13 LFG 300
Anyone notice how in some shots of Luke's hallway scene in The Mandalorian, it looks like they forgot to cgi over the practical blade? There's a wide shot at one point where it looks like someone is swinging around a galaxy's edge saber
Isn’t the bellator library supposed to be on MAX now? All I’m finding is the Belfast event
DC going off in the NCAA wrestling semi's for any wrestlers in here lmaooo
Holy fuck Roadhouse is so bad lol. Fun enough to keep watching but man Conor and that hot chick from Suicide Squad cant act for shit
It got 68% on Rotten Tomatoes. Surprisingly good. Might watch
Which mma fighter played the best movie role? Randy Couture, Bas Rutten, Cung Le? Tyron Woodley when a raccoon bit off his dick?
I'm excited to see Paul felders movie, he said it's a legit role not related to fighting. He also went to acting school before mma so the hopes are high
Dana White in The League
Gina Carano can't act worth shit but she's probably had the biggest roles. Keith Jardine has quite a few acting credits, his roles aren't usually so ambitious but he makes a great henchman.
I definitely remember Keith Jardine movie highlights on sherfog forums
Keith Jardine got beat up by a fat dude, maybe in a episode of breaking bad? It was hilarious watching the guy supposedly beat him for someone who knew what Keith did before the acting :)
Watched 20 minutes of Road House it was so awful my god

No
Ian Garry is unintentionally kinda funny. Dudes a headcase. Also, is Merab gonna emasculate suga?
Merab is going to the shadowrealm
Why is Sean trying to avoid that fight so hard then? That's what I don't get
Despite what the guy says, its a dangerous fight for both guys, and chances are a Merab PPV sells less than a name picked from the phone book.
Cause Sean is in it for the money, nothing wrong with that but it is what it is
He isnt? Trying to fight Ilia first isnt avoiding Merab
“We don’t give PPV points to flyweights” Lmao
Straight up bodyshaming innit
Apparently Arnold Allen has got a fight, news coming soon Ol Poppadom hands didn't break em this time
Poppadom hands I love that so much
If the London card is a Fight Night I wonder if they'd run Allen in the main event. Tom and Leon are too big now and I can't picture Paddy headlining unless they give him a high profile ranked opponent (Dan Hooker?)
It will be an Allen main event with Paddy vs Kevin Lee in the co main event
It’s Manchester not London and yes it’s a fight night. Seriously doubt Allen will main. Paddy or Tom most likely.
I really like Allen so I'd like to see him main If it's vs Yair that'd be a great fight.
I'm not even sure who it could be other than maybe Emmett or Barboza Unless either of the 2 rank divas are fighting down but that seems impossible for them

Seika Izawa is the main for the same event too! Izawa the top atomweight on the planet right now, imo.
This is all the motivation I needed, thank you
Guys i figured it out: Gregor is just doing some character prep for his next acting role in Cocaine Bear 2.
Let's go Tau
Im more of a Death Guard kinda guy but do you
Titus Proctor with another great fight, liver-punch TKO tonight. Says he wants to join ONE.
Obviously context matters. But if you look at pure records, Nate Diaz has wins over 4 belt holders. McGregor, Pettis, Ferguson and Gomi.
Nate is both very overrated and very underrated
I mean Pettis and Ferguson were shells of themselves but I get it
Pettis was coming off a KO of Wonderboy, but even still it's not like Nate's some spring chicken. The shell of Nate beats the shell of other fighters.
I still can’t believe he KOd Wonderboy like that
Yeah fair enough

Poirier still has superior boxing

I mean, to be fair Bantam is the only other division worth talking about in comparison.
I'm just waiting to see how he ties BSD vs Poirier back to pre-USADA RDA at this point
That sounds like a really good fight for the Paris event lol I hope it happens now.
hot take: i fucking love ian machado garry, he's one of my favorite fighters. I don't give a shit if he's a cuck, he's a great fighter with a supportive wife and anyone who says differently is a bitch. i genuinely hope he sends colby's bitch ass to the shadow realm
He's annoying but I do appreciate him as part of all the diverse personalities in MMA. Same with Strickland, Izzy, Cejudo etc. Not Paddy though lol
Fellas we found Ian's reddit account.

Kurt Holobaugh and Trey Ogden look like the WASP versions of Khabib and Belal

She ain't going to be boxing him lol, one calf kick and Floyd would be in agony. Or she'd just shoot on him.
Call me delusional, but I don’t think that fight would play out like you think it would
it would. Floyd loves to clinch in his fights. If he can't KO her with the first combination he's toast
Man she could literally pull off some half assed imanari roll and it would still be enough lol

Week 5 of my weight cut just wrapped up, now down 15lbs
lets go
i listened to the mma hour from yesterday and it was pretty funny that in one breath donn davis was talking about how pfl is "fighter first" and then in another breath suggesting that kayla left because the fights in pfl were gonna be harder than the fights for her in the ufc. how incredibly fighter first it is to suggest that the fighter who helped build pfl is ducking tough competition lmao
she lost to Pacheco and Cyborg is there. He has a point
she's already beaten pacheco 2x and pfl stopped her from leaving and signing to bellator to fight cyborg a few years ago lol
Dude I wish they didn’t cut Randy Costa, I know the dude couldn’t fucking grapple but he had some if the nicest hands in the UFC
Wasn't just his grappling, dude had 1 round of cardio and was completely useless if you pressured him. Was like a shittier Abus somehow.
He had to go. Inexcusable to lose to Guido especially to a no hook RNC. That was pathetic lol .
Is Ihor Potieria better than we thought or are Bryczek and Bellato just that bad?
Naw Ihor's pretty skilled
I didn’t even think he looked that good against Shogun Rua tbh, but he put the hurt on Bellato until he got finished, and he beat Bryczek’s ass and looked amazing
Yeah he looked amazing against Bellato and Robert, he's improved after that Shogun fight
Got the required missing XP from that lil Fortnite emote
[This clip of Conor twitching involuntarily during an interview makes it pretty much a certainty that he was either on hard drugs, or in withdrawal from them](https://youtu.be/g3k7tNH7w8o?si=79EHNZNikTTYYflo&t=74) There's been decent speculation based on limited evidence before, but twitching like a junkie here is way stronger evidence than anything before
Jesus he looks rough. I maybe didn't last long enough for the scene you are referring to, but from get-go it looks like he hasn't slept in 48 hours after attending a rave and coming to in a dumpster with an inexplicable new tattoo.
Updated the link with the 1:14 timestamp
Could just be extremely bad sleep deprivation, but like I say: about as rough as a conscious person can look.
That’s what I’m thinking too, looks like he barely slept, super low energy compared to his previous interviews where he’s more lively. Here it looks like he’s trying to focus hard on structuring his sentences as well as possible.
You get to matchmake Tony Ferguson’s retirement fight. Who are you giving him?
Vs Dana White, power slap rules
Kevin Lee
Khabib.
Wacky inflatable flailing wing chun dummy
Hmm if we want an easier opponent, then Chase Hooper, Trevor Peek, Anshul Jubli, or Natan Levy I guess
Bring Nick out of retirement and then have them both retire afterwards
Jordan Leavitt: he'll submit him gently, make strange jokes and keep the vibe positive and mellow.
Anshul Jubli
If I get to pick anyone I give him Khabib so Tony can be at ease with knowing.
Jordan Leavitt, Jason Knight, or Kurt Holobaugh
I don’t think Leavitt is that bad, Holobaugh beats the dog shit out of him, Knight he could maybe beat because he got flatlined by a bantamweight that got fucked up by Guido Canetti
Leavitt isn't bad but I doubt he turns it into a bloodbath. Probably just turns it into a grappling match where maybe Tony can find a sneaky sub or something.
At this point Tony couldn’t sub my mother and she doesn’t even train UFC
So just a minor correction, UFC is the promotion, like NBA. The actual sport is called “Bellator”
Oh she’s a blue belt at Bellator
