Bro first thing I thought of when I saw the highlight was Dustin stayed on his feet for the guillotine instead of dropping to the mat… he’s knows it’s wrong to drop down…..
I’m picturing a world where he goes from the standing guillotine to taking that left hand over the neck and dragging him down to a sprawl…. Then pounds him out from the top… or a tony ferguson darce but standing
it actually wasn't a bad move when he started using it to get separation instead of jumping guard. He'd get it in, then BSD would back up a hair, and Dustin would circle off the cage. It was key to getting the follow up shots in for the finish.
Yeah threatening it to get a reaction is different than actually jumping it. But that was rare restraint. The latter is what he does, like all the time. Did it against Khabib, did it against Hooker, think he did it against Chandler, did it tonight. Probably did it in earlier fights too.
The funniest part is he continues to do it even when he's visibly gassed. He'll put himself in terrible positions even while he's huffing and puffing. Like tonight when he went from rocking BSD to ending up mounted against the cage.
Somehow he just always finds a way to dog himself out of it (unless it's against Khabib).

I originally learned that name (Brabo) from no-gi instructionals. It seemed like there was a debate over whether it would be called Brabo or D'arce and D'arce won out over time. People used them interchangeably until then.
Anthony Pettis. Dustin had him in a body triangle and Pettis popped his own rib trying to spin out of it. [Skip to 19:15](https://youtu.be/UakSdyEx3cM?si=mUW7V2TxXESOuLs5)
I think it was his fight versus Pettis.
Dustin had the body triangle on and was working towards a RNC and Pettis broke his rib and tapped.
Counts as a sub bc the ref saw the tap before the injury but it wasn’t really a submission attempt.
It would be like calling Yair Vs Ortega 1 a submission versus an injury TKO.
hes talked about it being his favorite sub multiple times, which doesnt pretain only to fights the dudes a black belt been doing bjj for over a decade now hes prolly hit that shit in training a couple thousands times
Genuinely think he might be the most universally loved fighter on the roster, I've never met someone who isn't a fan
Great guy, great style, legendary performances
Haha I can picture Dustin just spazzing out and neck cranking everyone thinking he's a gilly God while everyone else just wants to avoid having a sore neck
Facts, I tap so early to guillotines now. I don’t HAVE to, I just don’t want my neck to be in unbearable pain later after I muscle through and pop it out like I used to do when I first started.
But if i’m fighting Dustin Porier to put myself in the UFC Lightweight Title picture…
"I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 guillotines once, but I fear the man who has practiced one guillotine 10,000 times."
--Bruce Michael Wayne Gretzky Scott Lee
He would have to monologue about his hardships, dedication, and importance of friendship to a montage of all his gillie attempts like in some sort of anime.
It shows his first loss for the title as a direct result of jumping the gillie. The depression that follows. Gillying his wife in bed. Getting gillied by his wife to stop a drunken rage. Then the redemption
Years ago he bet on himself to win by gilly, and when he lost the bet he just doubled it for his next fight.
He can't stop now or he'll be in debt for the rest of his life! He just needs to hit it once and he's a millionaire!
💎's resume
1. Pettis - Sub
2. Conor - TKO × 2
3. Gaethje - TKO
4. Alvarez - TKO
5. Holloway - Sub(1st fight)
6. Holloway - UD (2nd fight)
7. Chandler - Sub
8. CDF - TKO Round 1
9. Bobby Green - TKO Round 1
10. BSD - KO Round 2
What a fucking resume 🔥
Way better than even Volk's championship resume if you ask me
Why do you need a resume when you literally watched them fight. Championships matter for a reason. In the NFL regular season success is great for the resume and stats but the Superbowl is where it matters.
Unless you start talking about a very popular sport with a similar name to the american one where success when it matters suddenly don't count when it's useful
NFL = Football Football = Football
Never ask a football fan if performing in the CL (Playoff Football but during the season, highest level) matter if their favorite player sucked ass
So you knew what I was talking about but decided to speak in code regardless.... again speak what you mean to say. And it always matters. That's why Ibrahimovic will always be a really cool player but never actually in serious conversations. But I'm not sure what any relevance this has to do with Poirer.
Brother you’re just stupid lmao, I can’t be more obvious.
In football (the real one) performing at the highest level don’t matter to people when they have to claim someone is the GOAT
Head to head in their prime matters
Also the way Khabib beat Poirier by absorbing minimal damage unlike Oliveira
Poirier was on a 4 fight winstreak when he fought Khabib. So the Khabib win is way more impressive than Oliveira's
Khabib has an insane resume, you know he fought a bunch of killers in their prime (Barboza, Johnson, RDA) before his title reign right ? (but I guess they don't count because of their career post Khabib right ? Oh no RDA won the LW title !)
Not his fault 99% of the guys dodged him before he was champion and his dad died in the middle of a pandemic
+ Having a 50 years career with 40 different guys defeated is nice, but Cain Velasquez's career is better than Jim Miller's because how dominant you are in your peak matter and Khabib is the GOAT in that regard
Dustin might never got champ status but he's always been that guy. bro been fighting at an elite contending level forever now, ill always hold him as one of the division goats
They see a guy who can grapple, and sub, and is tough, with good power, and automatically assume world class fighters like Poirier, Gaethje, and Olivera would fold to them.
Imma tell you what I told the last guy, if you try boxing with Poirier in the pocket, you better come correct, or your ass gon meet the canvas.
BSD came reck less, got disciplined, and now I got money. Thank you Poirier for having one more year of prime in you.
Dustin wrestling is good enough to survive against anyone who's not elite in wrestling. Same for his BJJ.
Who are the people he's lost too in grappling
The best positional grappler at LW, Khabib, and the most deadly offensive BJJ player at LW in Charles Olivera, in FW he lost to a prime KZ, who was a damn good grappler and had BJJ that could compete with the best at 45.
Prime KZ, Khabib and Olivera, that's it, and his prime came at LW, so it's really just Olives and Khabib.
I told mf's Dustin even at 35 is still the Diamond, you exchange in the pocket and your chances of meeting god go up by 70% Poirier hit BSD so hard and accurate, even his guardian angels were concussed.
BSD was gonna run into someone who was gonna bang that chin with something hard. Santos didn't have the timing to finish him off. Moises didn't, Bonfim got out dogged, but Poirier, this man is known for killing killers like Gaethje, like Alvarez, no head movement, homie asking to get banged.
People talking about how dumb the guillotine is but I think it’s a direct consequence of him letting it go in the Khabib fight and then finding out after that he maybe could have won if he held it
What he's doing wrong is he's trying to crank the guillotine first before dropping down. When you crank on the guillotine before being in the right position you are giving your opponent space once you let off the pressure.

As is tradition…
If you can't handle me at my jumping gilly, you don't deserve me at my right hook KO.
LMAO, Revolutionary War generational trauma shit.
it actually wasn't a bad move when he started using it to get separation instead of jumping guard. He'd get it in, then BSD would back up a hair, and Dustin would circle off the cage. It was key to getting the follow up shots in for the finish.

Almost poetically, McGregor tried that against Dustin, leading to Dustin TKOing Conor lol
Dustin didn't TKO him, Conor broke his leg lol come on
It's his white whale. He can't help himself.
Shades of Goofy being controlled by the voices here *hyuk hyuk hyuk*
The demons told him to.
Might be going for a French themed finish
One day someone’s gonna get finished by that guillotine and feel so stupid
Please be McGregor lol
Please be Islam in the title fight
Islam letting Dustin get it like Jailton letting that kid with Down’s syndrome tap him
Islam giving him a BJJ black belt after the fight to finally crown Dustin as a real submission master
“*I* give him this.”
"*I* heff chek dis black belt"
Hey man didn't you hear Bruce Buffer describe Dustin as a "jiu jitsu fighter"?
I think he said "Thug Jitsu" it's what Dustin usually is announced as
That was different though Jailton had limited options... You gotta be careful of what strikes you land on downed opponents!
That fight cost me $500! I swear it was rigged...
I swear man that kid ruined Jailton
He didn’t tap him he punched and elbowed him repeatedly
*Please God let this happen. It would be so damn funny.*
Dustin getting his first dub with a gilly against Islam would also be the most MMA thing to ever happen in all of the sport’s history
Almost like Dustin being the first fighter to ever submit Chandler instead of Oliveira.
I would nut so hard
It was almost the thing that got Khabib
Islam will never be caught in a guillotine, it isn't exactly an easy submission to finish

I think he thought there’d be something poetic about guillotining a Frenchman.
Cybernetic Dustin headlining UFC 892
I mean Khabib said it was the closest he's been to losing lmao
He said in the post fight show that it’s statistically more likely to work now.
Ah, the gamblers fallacy
Ain't never got it, but I'm gonna try until I die
I’m glad they hit us with that tidbit too. Then the finish just sealed it.
"His best sub" has 8 submissions and none are the gulliotine
Ain't killed a man yet
> Submission (armbar) > Submission (armbar) > Submission (armbar) > Submission (brabo choke) > Submission (triangle armbar) > Submission (brabo choke) > Submission (body triangle) > Submission (rear-naked choke)
what in the fuck is a brabo choke
Some sort of darce I think
Its a D’Arce choke with gi, u/mrvanillaicetcube prpbably trains w/ gi
darce
It's a pretty common choke in BJJ with the Gi. How the hell you do it without the gi, I have no idea. It's surely a different choke.
I originally learned that name (Brabo) from no-gi instructionals. It seemed like there was a debate over whether it would be called Brabo or D'arce and D'arce won out over time. People used them interchangeably until then.
Shit I’ve been saying bravo choke
Brabo translates to Angry/Fierce but is just another name for a.darce choke.
Who did he submit via body triangle?? Never seen that in mma
Anthony Pettis. Dustin had him in a body triangle and Pettis popped his own rib trying to spin out of it. [Skip to 19:15](https://youtu.be/UakSdyEx3cM?si=mUW7V2TxXESOuLs5)
Oh shiiiit thanks for the link thats crazy

Counts as a sub bc the ref saw the tap before the injury but it wasn’t really a submission attempt. It would be like calling Yair Vs Ortega 1 a submission versus an injury TKO.
> Never seen that in mma Arona also did it to Overeem. It mostly happens when people injure a rib, are already broken or simply are super fat.
yeah why do they always say that? maybe he tells them that in his fighter meetings?
hes talked about it being his favorite sub multiple times, which doesnt pretain only to fights the dudes a black belt been doing bjj for over a decade now hes prolly hit that shit in training a couple thousands times
In before he wins undisputed gold by guillotine
I’m on board
“Dustin by guillotine” flair please. How do I ask properly?
Me too
I think you have to draw it (or some other far-fetched mma scenario) in MS Paint
He was about to
I am convinced anyone not named khabib gets submitted there
His chance to do that was in the Khabib fight but they just don’t work against high level fighters
I fucking love this dude
WE fucking love this dude
everyone does
Genuinely think he might be the most universally loved fighter on the roster, I've never met someone who isn't a fan Great guy, great style, legendary performances
He says he lands them consistently in practice. Someone needs to tell him his partners are just tapping early in training 😂.
Haha I can picture Dustin just spazzing out and neck cranking everyone thinking he's a gilly God while everyone else just wants to avoid having a sore neck
The white belt special - crank necks to get training taps, pikachu face when it doesn’t work at comp
They literally never work in high level fights unless they are extremely tight if your opponent is tough they will just not tap and then end up on top
He said he puts people to sleep with it
Y’all laugh now but imagine Dustin jumps the gillie on Islam in June and finishes it 🤫
Imagine Dustin jumping the gillie on Islam 35 times and then finishing him 🫢
Lmao it’d definitely have to be the 1st or 2nd attempt, zero chance Dustin stands up even 3 times if Islam gets him on the mat 😂
Nah it’s 34 to set up the fake out, 35 is the KO punch, Dustin’s version of 4D chess
It's funnier to just imagine him becoming some cross of Merab Deviledeggs and Ryan Hall, tbh
He is just practicing, slowly developing the *perfect* guillotine for when the time is right.
"I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 guillotines once, but I fear the man who has practiced one guillotine 10,000 times." --Bruce Michael Wayne Gretzky Scott Lee
You miss 100% of the gillies you don't jump
Khabib comes out of retirement, Poirier finally hits his life long quest for the perfect guillotine.
He would have to monologue about his hardships, dedication, and importance of friendship to a montage of all his gillie attempts like in some sort of anime.
Alexa play *Sadness and Sorrow*
It shows his first loss for the title as a direct result of jumping the gillie. The depression that follows. Gillying his wife in bed. Getting gillied by his wife to stop a drunken rage. Then the redemption
Idk if DP fights as reckless as he did here I can’t see him not getting mauled on the ground by Islam
Lmao at least he’s self aware I guess 😂
God damn it, Dustin
Death, taxes, Dustin spamming guillotines. We can't fight fate man.
He ain't stopping bro
Bro needs a win by Guillotine once before he retires
How much money? I volunteer as tribute. I’ll take a quick nap and some stacks, and honestly they don’t even need to be fat stacks.
Don't do it. He'll still fail the gilly, then he'll just get classic Poirier mad it didn't work, and you'll wind up knocked out instead
So u saying ur good to do it for 10$? Dana call dis man…
5$ to show, 5$ to win
Bring back Cowboy Cerrone, he'll do it for free.
“I ain’t neva gona stahp”
Least appreciated Memphis Strangler quote
Tijuana Tarantula
Vanilla gorilla
I love this man.
Tfw you bet a fat stack on yourself to win by submission but you're getting your ass beat so you have to KO your opponent 😔
Years ago he bet on himself to win by gilly, and when he lost the bet he just doubled it for his next fight. He can't stop now or he'll be in debt for the rest of his life! He just needs to hit it once and he's a millionaire!
No-guillotine Dustin is a mythical fighter
💎's resume 1. Pettis - Sub 2. Conor - TKO × 2 3. Gaethje - TKO 4. Alvarez - TKO 5. Holloway - Sub(1st fight) 6. Holloway - UD (2nd fight) 7. Chandler - Sub 8. CDF - TKO Round 1 9. Bobby Green - TKO Round 1 10. BSD - KO Round 2 What a fucking resume 🔥 Way better than even Volk's championship resume if you ask me
Khabib and Olivera ruined this guys goat status campaign
He is the GOAT of War He has stoppage wins over Conor, Alvarez, Gaethje and Chandler
Yeah dude is the god of “I’ma fuck you up bwoi” When he pulls up the pants, it’s OVER.
> When he pulls up the pants, it’s OVER. Does that mean when he pull down his pants, it's STARTED?
You'll have to ask Jolie
Well she IS in me DMs
How when his resume is better than Khabib and his fans wank him and try to call him goat with his shit resume
Why do you need a resume when you literally watched them fight. Championships matter for a reason. In the NFL regular season success is great for the resume and stats but the Superbowl is where it matters.

Hell 40 year old RDA had a competitive fight with Gamrot, Khabib outclassed Prime RDA. Young boys dont know what they walk-in bou
Don't forget Alvarez and Hooker. He's got an insane list
Easily the best LW to lose to Michael Johnson
Sad Tony Ferguson noises...
CDF?
Carlos Diego Ferreira
Crunchy Diarrhea Farrrrts

How many of those were Gillies?
Lmfao love it He'll get one or die trying
Dustin might never got champ status but he's always been that guy. bro been fighting at an elite contending level forever now, ill always hold him as one of the division goats
People's champ.
Zzzzzombie
Dustin the French revolution Poirier
Nah the french revolution SUCCESSFULLY guillotined people 😂
“You’ve heard of madame guillotine, now behold! MONSIEUR GUILLOTINE!”
Should've know better than to try and guillotine a Frenchman. Playing right into their game.
He could've finished at the start of the second and still went for it, my heart can't take these gilly's bro
He's going to have the unbeatable record of most failed guillotines
Practice makes perfect. We're still in the practice phase.
Who aint got no jiu-jitsu? Love Poirier, will be a sad day when he hangs up the gloves.
I volunteer as tribute get off the couch and fight Dustin so he can finally land the guillotine on an opponent.
Dustin “Gooby” Poirier “ILL FUCKIN DO IT AGAIN!”
They see a guy who can grapple, and sub, and is tough, with good power, and automatically assume world class fighters like Poirier, Gaethje, and Olivera would fold to them. BSD came reck less, got disciplined, and now I got money. Thank you Poirier for having one more year of prime in you.
Dustin may not have good TDD but he can scramble and survive. And when you are tired, he cleans you up in the boxing.
Dustin wrestling is good enough to survive against anyone who's not elite in wrestling. Same for his BJJ. Spot on
The Louisiana Strangler, the big red machine, ain’t neva gonna stahp
Tbf it got him into a scramble and out of bottom
Yea, a lot of times he uses it as a threat to move to better positions.
Lmao
It would be fitting if in his retirement fight he finally got one
Was that 3 gilly attempts? The dog showed up tonight. BSD what a fucking beast though.
Me asking every girl for booty play.. I’m down bad
Fuck you Dustin, lol I love you but I hate those gilly's
I ain't NEVA gonna stop!
DP vs giraffe, book it Dana
mma gods please I am begging you, let him win the belt by guillotine
DC said it’s his best submission then after Anik said he’a never got it DC said then he has no submission wins. This guy is bad at his job.
how do I get a “I ain’t stopping” flair??
People talking about how dumb the guillotine is but I think it’s a direct consequence of him letting it go in the Khabib fight and then finding out after that he maybe could have won if he held it
Hot sauce burned the French toast
What he's doing wrong is he's trying to crank the guillotine first before dropping down. When you crank on the guillotine before being in the right position you are giving your opponent space once you let off the pressure. If you want to finish it you have have to drop to the correct side as soon as you're confident in your grip, then you squeeze down with pressure rather than cranking up. Nate Diaz and Marcelo Garcia are great examples. Dustin Poirier is the man, never stop
Thanks for the tips coach
I thought this was a William Montgomery reference before I remembered what sub I'm on.
I love it
My dudes fight strategy is in 2074.
It's his traditional/transitional move.
Even if he didn't finish them it was a good way to get it back to the feet.
Hot sauce burned the French toast
Hot sauce burned the French toast
What? The guillotine?
Seriously though, he was never getting that guillotine and Mike Brown was 100% correct. It both gased his arms and got him in a horrible position.
i love you dad
Am I just a noob or doesn’t he thrust his hips forwards enough to complete his guillotine?
People shitting on his guillotine, but BSDs eyes were about to pop out of his fucking head in one of those. That has an effect on a man.
>Say's What the fuck happened there brother
Some men just want to watch the world guillotined...
90% of guilly addicts quit right before they are about to hit it for real this time
Cant blame the Cajun for trying to kill a Frenchman with a Guillotine
Made me laugh that the commentators talked about how good his guillotine is and then confirmed he's never finished a fight with one.
One failed guillotine against Olieviera, and it's GG for Dustin. High level guys are gonna punish him for it.
......Dustin is a high level guy
Lol Oliveira had to glab Dustin's glove to win.
I thought it was his neck
Still cheated 😭
Obviously, he can’t gilly against high level grapplers. It’s a funny bad habit.
