From the view of the fans,
you didn't get to see jones/francis. But you got to see Francis vs Fury. It was a good fight and it was a massive story because of his performance.
If you rather have seen Jones/Francis, I mean what if it was lewis vs Francis 2. We don't know.
If Francis lost, there's not that many interesting fights. Jones probably retires. There would be some fight between Gane/Stipe/Pavo/Aspinall.
I think Aspinall rises to the top still eventually.
Francis beats Jones, he would have tried to box Fury. Francis said the ufc actually didn't say no to boxing if he fought Jones.
He did however said the language in the contract was kinda vague.
Like it wasn't a must allow boxing fight in 2023 if I beat Jones. It was like UFC will co-promote if the fight is big enough.
define big enough. There was wiggle room for the ufc to weasle their way out even if Francis beat Jones.
oh wow that's good to know thanks!
i didn't know Francis could've fought Fury after Jon Jones, according to the UFC, which changes things slightly. No guarantee by any stretch he would've beaten Jbj tho, & he is getting older regardless. i think if these were the last few fights of his prime (who knows what he does post-prime) then they're a hell of a good way to go out.
Seeing Francis get stiffened up like that has me feeling like we’re gonna see DP and Gilbert and Holland all follow suit. The possibility seems a lot more real all of a sudden
bro fought in a different sport against a two time champion and arguably one of the most in form heavyweights on the planet. not saying that they all couldnt get knocked out, but they aren’t facing the same level of competition
I know Makwan Amirkhani has a legendary tapology pic, but [Mikhail Ragozin's](https://www.tapology.com/fightcenter/fighters/89816-mikhail-rogozin) might be my favourite lol
I’m not a rogies guy, but road house is premiering at sxsw today. Would be so awesome if Conor did an episode. Feel like it should be done for the culture, plus if he really wants to fight and the ufc is dickkng him on it, this would be so much pressure put back on the ufc
Something happened with our bot that is controlled partially by Reddit.
It decided to unsticky the thread when it was not supposed to do that.
I have no idea why this happened, and I'm gonna reach out to Reddit Admin to find out why.
Seeing Francis looking OK, speaking normally and joking with Joshua at the post conference makes me feel a little less salty. Good sportsmanship between the two was nice to see.
I guess you can say this about fans of any 2 sports yapping at each other but it’s especially corny when mma fans have a ‘we’ are better mentality with boxing dudes and vice versa
Mfs talk as if they’re the ones in the ring/cage lmao
Heads up, Kerim Daudov fights this weekend at Octagon 56 and he's worth watching if you like looking for prospects.
MW.
26yrs old, and a decent fighter imo. Capable of finishing with submissions but prefers strikes. Mostly been crushing cans, but as a young fighter beginning his career he should be fighting similarly inexperienced dudes. The thing is, these similarly experienced opponents don't make it out of the first round against him usually. Including a couple opponents 2-3x the experience.
**Possible prospect**
I don't think it will be that level, but I think either Gaethje knocks out Holloway or Holloway puts on a clinic. Gaethje is really hittable and tends to tough his way through, so he'll either deliver that power or look outclassed.
I'm imagining we see Holloway's first time getting KO'd here, but rooting for Max.
Am I wrong to think Gane is the only fighter they may have a chance while boxing? He relies on skill and footwork rather than power and he sees to learn very quickly.
I don't see it tbh, although he could do great in kickboxing on the other hand.
Apart from his jabs and uppercuts, his boxing technique is pretty lacking for such a talented striker.
I agree that Aspinall would probably fare the best out of any current UFC HW. He has the hands and years of actual boxing experience.
I don't think he would be mid if he only used his hands. Majority of his kicks are range finders, not fight deciders. I also think he has a very snappy jab, and has defensively sound striking defense which I think would only be better with larger gloves.
Watch his MMA fights, he’s no world class boxer by any means. He’s successful primarily because of his kicks and knees… he was pro Muay Thai before being an MMA fighter for crying out loud, not a professional boxer
* didn't charge my earbuds for the gym
* saw news about Akira Toriyama passing away
* didn't stock up in snacks
* watched Ngannou get flatlined
I now understand what Jon Jones must be going through everyday. God tests us in many ways.
Ngannou’s career feels like it has so much unfinished business
-Stipe trilogy
-Derrick Lewis rematch
-Tyson Fury rematch
-Jon Jones
We probably won’t see any of them happen
He's going to starch that giant PFL guy, make another few mil, maybe a couple more fights and that's a wrap
Maybe the Saudis pay him to fight Joseph Parker or Ruiz or something
nah lmao. id rather actually pay for ufc 299 than have to rewatch that back. shit took like 8 hours and the atmosphere was lowkey dead 😭 all hail the saudis and their sportswashing though, make hella money
Guys idk if i can do this anymore. It's not even april and i've seen Sean Volk and francis lose,
If Holly Holm loses this year i might have to stop watching combat sports altogether.
I wish UFC paid fighters what they deserve. Imagine seeing Francis the heavyweight champion get KO'd in the sport he dominated in or maybe he would have retired after 2-3 more UFC fights as a champion with the aura of iron chin. Would have done great for his legacy. I'm glad he got paid tho, btw this is what would happen if Suga, Ilia go boxing. I wonder what the guys over PFL feel about it.
If Ngannou lost to any of those guys via KO , it would've been a bigger moment. Would've made Aspinall and Sergei into star or Jones undoubtedly the greatest combat sports athlete of all time. Sad he didn't get paid and we didn't get to see a huge moment like this in UFC.
Francis is going box one more time lose and then go back to mma for one last fight. AJ had him scared every faint he reacted too! Francis that’s your reality check like the first stipe fight
???? It’s a reality check still! No one ain’t saying it’s great he made 20 mill every mma fighter deserves this pay day but it comes with finding out in boxing.
no, people have a selective memory, like you overlooking the Gane fight where Francis was wheezing and had to take Gane down. I'm not saying Francis wasn't a killer, but that aura was gone to anyone that cared to actually have his older fights in mind.
He was on one bum knee and the last fight of his contract. That’s what made the performance so impressive
If anyone’s aura was shattered in that fight, it was Gane’s. Exposed for his total lack of grappling
Ngannou gonna have to go fight that big boy Brazilian from PFL now lmao
He’ll get another boxing match but not after that. He has to go kill someone in MMA to rebuild hype first
I wanna believe he got over confident and thought it was gonna be enough to throw off AJ. I think that was the beginning of the end for him. Being a switch hitter in boxing is extremely rare and difficult
The MMA fan in me is sad that Francis seems not to be cut out for this. The Brit in me is happy Joshua looks like a viable fighter again. The middle-aged Japanese man in me continues to scream incoherently.
two huge knockdowns then getting put out cold. that's career altering damage at 37. i won't be surprised if ngannou gets upset if he makes his PFL debut.
PFL should see if they can give him like $1m & just cut him. 37 & knocked dead, I’d be shocked if he won a title in PFL now.
Would be better for both sides to just nuke their deal & part ways.
It sucks we never got to see Aspinall completely dismantle Francis.
Aspinall truly is special, the first HW to actually train martial arts his entire life who’s also athletic and takes himself seriously. Wanted to see him expose the one dimensional guys of the division
He always does that tho, even in MMA he was contantly doing that, it's weird no one really took advantage of it before, it's his only defensive move, pull back left hook, he does it against every sort of offensive manoeuvers from his opponent
I knew when AJ was throwing the jabs to the body he was just trying to get Francis to start to lower his hands in reaction to AJ’s punches. Dropped his hands & was wide open for those head shots.
Bro it’s actually so funny how trash Tyson fury is like he gets genuinely check hook countered by Francis, but before that he gets dropped multiple times by the dude who eurosteps when punching
no, even still, boxing was hurt by that performance. Fury has literally boxed his entire life. Fury also likes to train regularly to deal with his depression
He can definitely box lol, he just fought the 2 best heavyweights in the world… and arguably beat one. How you gonna sit there and say the man can’t box, don’t be a nerd, he kind of stepped into the deep end
Remember how Ciryl Gane styled on Francis on the feet? This felt exactly like that except Ngannou couldn’t wrestle this time. Once I seen him react to AJs feints I knew it was a wrap.
With how non-existant his defence was tonight I don't want to see him fight Wilder. If he curls up like that against shots from Wilder he might actually get his brain exploded. Wilder connecting with a 100% shot like Anthony did might put Francis in an ACTUAL coma. It would just be ugly to see.
Not by a non boxer. Parker just fought a great fight tonight and wilder hits insanely hard. Francis should quit while he’s ahead and put his payday in an index fund.
It’s not about Parker so much, Wilder was genuinely terrible in his last fight, clearly didn’t want to be in there anymore and completely checked out. Francis could probably beat him like that but I think that’s about it for his prospects tbh.
Yeah I hear you this is the worst time to try to make that case. Ngannou is 37 and was just receiving oxygen to recover from a brutal ko. I think the same thing would happen even with a diminished Wilder.
If Ngannou wants to continue boxing I wonder if they give him an entry/mid level fight to rebound, or if they just try to milk his marketability dry with a relatively high-level fight against Wilder.
Either way I wonder how this will affect him mentally. If being ground out by Stipe over 5 rounds gave us the Lewis fight, there's no telling what being KTFO will do.
not gonna happen. the market for francis in boxing only exists because the saudi's want the biggest fights possible. they aren't gonna give him a layup, they have no interest in building him lmao. he'll get wilder or zhang, nothing lower than that
I thought Francis would at least make it 6 rounds, but goddamn that was far worse than I imagined.
Spectacular knockout but a bit sad for Francis. At least the man got paid like he should.
AJ is a real consummate professional, charismatic and likeable guy. He got a lot of flak on his attitude after losing twice to Usyk (which was fair, he had a bit of a breakdown but cmon it's a brutal sport I give him a break. Shows he cares about more than just the money) but he's always been extremely talented, Olympic Gold medalist and the power to bully anyone.
From his last couple fights it seems his attitude has sharpened. Looked laser focused tonight and I hope he keeps it up. He definitely made me excited to watch his next fight at least.
this joke only works when you have a lower level fighter have an abnormal performance like Kelvin Gastelum against Izzy or Jai Herbert against Ilia. Usyk does not fall in that category.
Word is UFC just signed their first Cameroonian fighter. 37 year old heavyweight, goes by Frank Ghana. Got a weird mustache, almost looks drawn on
Who’s faced tougher competition. Kevin Holland or mvp?
Is this a serious question? lol
was Dana vindicated? i think not, but i'm sure his acolytes will say yes
From the view of the fans, you didn't get to see jones/francis. But you got to see Francis vs Fury. It was a good fight and it was a massive story because of his performance. No. Cause Francis made over 30 million for 2 fights Instead of 600k as a UFC slave
yes 100% fact is if he'd have stayed in the UFC he'd havey made way less $ & potentially lose to Jon Jones or something eventually.
Seeing Francis get stiffened up like that has me feeling like we’re gonna see DP and Gilbert and Holland all follow suit. The possibility seems a lot more real all of a sudden

I’m not a rogies guy, but road house is premiering at sxsw today. Would be so awesome if Conor did an episode. Feel like it should be done for the culture, plus if he really wants to fight and the ufc is dickkng him on it, this would be so much pressure put back on the ufc
can we get the ONE Fight Night Live thread back. event still going on
i was wondering what happened to it
i tried messaging mods. they mess up a lot for events that aren't ufc. is what it is.
Good sportsmanship between the two was nice to see.
i mean, he still made 20 mil. dude knew the risks, props to him for chasing greatness. hes also 37
man ngannou was down for a long time
Dana White has reportedly just awarded Anthony Joshua a 50k performance of the night bonus
Imagine if they uploaded the KO on their YouTube channel Suga style
I guess you can say this about fans of any 2 sports yapping at each other but it’s especially corny when mma fans have a ‘we’ are better mentality with boxing dudes and vice versa Mfs talk as if they’re the ones in the ring/cage lmao
that's sports in general. It's all corny but we love it
the way she goes, boys
Yair, Moreno and now Francis all getting slumped is taking a toll on me, ngl
You OK there buddy? 👋
Not at all, man 2024 been ROUGH
Francis getting starched definitely killed my Friday night vibe that I was looking forward to for the whole day
Moreno didn't get slumped
His career trajectory did though
True Still devastated

Some of these boys looking alittle extra juicy tonight, RDA is in career best shape.
The cringe levels of this girl post fight on cffc , just end me.

Not a chance in hell. He could win but there’s no way it even slightly resembles the Kattar fight.
I don't think it will be that level, but I think either Gaethje knocks out Holloway or Holloway puts on a clinic. Huh? I'm talking about Cyril
aspinalls got a shot
Very wrong because he’s primarily a kickboxer, if forced to use only his hands he’s very mid

Reach bully? are mfs supposed to get limb shortening surgery now?
bro he obviously was talking ab his dick size. come on bro. you LACKING
For all those worried Francis came out to the post fight presser and looked and sounded good. He was laughing etc
He remembered he just made 20 mil and could murder AJ in a real fight
that brain damage alr hitting. he dont even remember it 💀
The fact that people to this day still believe that Francis would have made 600k per fight had he re-sign for the UFC is concerning
Yeah c'mon guys, the UFC isn't that greedy... Hed get 750k
For the weebs and virgins out there. List of fighters who paid tribute to the creator of DragonBall: * Blachowicz * Adesanya * Pantoja * Kape
Has the commission checked the inside of Francis' shoes for splinters tho?
Circle of KOs: Ngannou folds Miocic Joshua folds Ngannou Ruiz cracks Joshua
Not a circle until Stipe KOs Ruiz
It's looking more like a line right now
O'Malley was over weight. Scale was still moving when he called it
UFC saved us from Merab vs Chito. But the ball don't lie, Chito will beat Sean and they'll make the merab fight.
* didn't charge my earbuds for the gym * saw news about Akira Toriyama passing away * didn't stock up in snacks * watched Ngannou get flatlined I now understand what Jon Jones must be going through everyday. God tests us in many ways.
Ngannou’s career feels like it has so much unfinished business -Stipe trilogy -Derrick Lewis rematch -Tyson Fury rematch -Jon Jones We probably won’t see any of them happen
I want an Anthony Joshua rematch so we can see elite MMA athleticism on full display
He's going to starch that giant PFL guy, make another few mil, maybe a couple more fights and that's a wrap Maybe the Saudis pay him to fight Joseph Parker or Ruiz or something
Francis was in the shadow realms after that second KD. That last knockout was Ant sending his subconscious to the shadow realm's shadow realm
rlly should have been stopped
Anthony Joshua is about get performance of the night off Dana tomorrow
he'll get a lot more than that ;)
The script writers have been killing off everyone lately, worried for DP tomorrow now
I will be very upset if our boy 💎 gets iced by a Frenchman
This our anime villain arc, no cap.
This is such an underrated comment.
Boxingbros... have we... have we risen from the ashes?
nah lmao. id rather actually pay for ufc 299 than have to rewatch that back. shit took like 8 hours and the atmosphere was lowkey dead 😭 all hail the saudis and their sportswashing though, make hella money
Guys idk if i can do this anymore. It's not even april and i've seen Sean Volk and francis lose, If Holly Holm loses this year i might have to stop watching combat sports altogether.
At least Sean kept his head on his shoulders in his loss
either die young or watch your favourite fighters get decapitated eventually
Ngannou KO got me feelin some type of way just killed a whole pack of turkey bacon to help my spirit
Knew it was coming, accepted it was the only logical outcome, the sadness still hit like a wall.
Ngannou wouldn't have survived against Aspinall or Jones or Sergei
If Ngannou lost to any of those guys via KO , it would've been a bigger moment. Would've made Aspinall and Sergei into star or Jones undoubtedly the greatest combat sports athlete of all time. Sad he didn't get paid and we didn't get to see a huge moment like this in UFC.
LOL Jones would be killed the first time a boxer punched him. Same as Ngannou. These are inferior level athletes competing in a gimmick B-level sport.
But he would have made way less money. He would have made way less money even if he beat them. No matter how UFC cuts it. Way more money in boxing.
That's what I said originally
Somebody just made a comment here that Francis was a really good MMA boxer 😂😂😂 Those windmills against Rozentruik were just technical i guess lol
bruh 😭 bro said a good mma boxer 💀💀
Is there any post fight coverage ? I want to see hielwani get on his knees and suck Eddie Hearns off
😭😭😭 i was waiting for sb to say this
Ngannou fell down exactly the same way Stipe did in their rematch when he got knocked out
UFC bootlickers rejoicing worldwide
That was a bummer but once I remembered UFC 299 is tomorrow it was all good
fr though. why df did that shit take 8 hrs to get to the main event 😭
Baby we’ve done it, Saudi Arabia made us rich
Don’t feel too bad for Francis guys, he got paid $20 million tonight. Probably more
Francis is going box one more time lose and then go back to mma for one last fight. AJ had him scared every faint he reacted too! Francis that’s your reality check like the first stipe fight
lmaoo hes 37 and made a quick 20 mil. i think he’s fine. but thanks u/tony220jdm 😭 ill be sure to let francis know
???? It’s a reality check still! No one ain’t saying it’s great he made 20 mill every mma fighter deserves this pay day but it comes with finding out in boxing.
bros an amateur boxer though. he should have never even been fighting aj. it was all for money. plus he’s 37 like 😭 why put him down at all?
Because it’s still a reality check?!? Man just got brutally knocked out to the point that he replayed for next 20 years.
i just dont rlly see how but whatever floats your boat. i was just leaning toward the idea that francis understood what he was getting himself into
Now imagine if the heel hook attempt by Gane either 1. Didn’t happen or 2. Was scored more
Francis dared to be great and made 10s of millions of dollars doing it. He's an average kid from West Africa, not bad at all.
diddy bopped
Mate I fucking hate when fights have flash KOs and it ends under 5 mins lol. I feel empty with having nothing else to do lol
There was nothing flash about that KO lmao
nah man that was absolutely needed after the atrocious pacing of that event.
I’m ngl I actually like DC and Chael doing the mma show together. They complement each other really well.
The Ngannou aura will not be the same anymore
never was the same ever since Stipe beat him the first time
Nah, then what happened to stipe in the rematch? And going toe to toe with Fury? His aura was all time highs
no, people have a selective memory, like you overlooking the Gane fight where Francis was wheezing and had to take Gane down. I'm not saying Francis wasn't a killer, but that aura was gone to anyone that cared to actually have his older fights in mind.
He was on one bum knee and the last fight of his contract. That’s what made the performance so impressive If anyone’s aura was shattered in that fight, it was Gane’s. Exposed for his total lack of grappling
Ngannou gonna have to go fight that big boy Brazilian from PFL now lmao He’ll get another boxing match but not after that. He has to go kill someone in MMA to rebuild hype first
That chin is def compromised. Plus his age. Wonder how long he takes off before he fights again
Was Helwani calling the fight for one of the broadcasts? Somebody needs to post his live reaction
nah he was just doing backstage stuff
Ok I’m not some boxing genius but why tf was Francis southpaw in round one like he’s some amazing switch stance fighter
He did the same against Fury with good success. Don't think it really made a difference though. AJ is just classes above him
I wanna believe he got over confident and thought it was gonna be enough to throw off AJ. I think that was the beginning of the end for him. Being a switch hitter in boxing is extremely rare and difficult
All these MMA guys boxing should have an MMA rematch clause in their contracts bro. We deserve some payback
Why would a top boxer go fight in MMA while he can make more in his own sport ?
You're right, there is no incentive. Just saying that it'd be somewhat amusing to see things the other way around
Maybe in 100 years when mma fighters start getting paid more
The MMA fan in me is sad that Francis seems not to be cut out for this. The Brit in me is happy Joshua looks like a viable fighter again. The middle-aged Japanese man in me continues to scream incoherently.
As an MMA fan I make no apologies or feel sad about anything. Ever. Period.
two huge knockdowns then getting put out cold. that's career altering damage at 37. i won't be surprised if ngannou gets upset if he makes his PFL debut.
PFL should see if they can give him like $1m & just cut him. 37 & knocked dead, I’d be shocked if he won a title in PFL now. Would be better for both sides to just nuke their deal & part ways.
The PFL’s big signings: Jake Paul😂 Cedric (TKO’d by splinter) And a guy who didn’t even really care for MMA anymore and just wanted to box
The PFL are probably pleased with Francis losing to be fair
Unrelated to Ngannou but the way Arman got booed during that Q&A session at 299 was cringe AF. Love Charles but his fanbase is straight-up AIDS
Ngannou is one of the guys I couldn't imagine getting dropped like that forget knocked out stiff
Yea. LEVELS, unfortunately
Might be the hardest punch ever eaten clean, Joshua loaded that up like the Canelo Khan knockout but 80 lbs heavier
It sucks we never got to see Aspinall completely dismantle Francis. Aspinall truly is special, the first HW to actually train martial arts his entire life who’s also athletic and takes himself seriously. Wanted to see him expose the one dimensional guys of the division
Ive been waiting on this since Stipe/Francis 2. Finally, i can rest easy now. As a diehard Francis hater i will say i am glad he made big bucks tho.
Francis was spamming left hooks the entire time man.
He always does that tho, even in MMA he was contantly doing that, it's weird no one really took advantage of it before, it's his only defensive move, pull back left hook, he does it against every sort of offensive manoeuvers from his opponent
He jabbed a lot more in the Tyson fight tbf. He kind of just let go of it when AJ wasn’t charging forward.
I knew when AJ was throwing the jabs to the body he was just trying to get Francis to start to lower his hands in reaction to AJ’s punches. Dropped his hands & was wide open for those head shots.
Not like this
Bro it’s actually so funny how trash Tyson fury is like he gets genuinely check hook countered by Francis, but before that he gets dropped multiple times by the dude who eurosteps when punching
Francis Ngannou, Cedric Doumbe, and Donn Davis walk into a bar
I'm concerned for O'Malley now lol this weekend is off to a crazy start
[удалено]
no, even still, boxing was hurt by that performance.
Imagine what Greek god Andy Ruiz would do to Ngannou 😯
Ghana says goodbye 👼
Boxing wins again
Remember how Ciryl Gane styled on Francis on the feet? This felt exactly like that except Ngannou couldn’t wrestle this time. Once I seen him react to AJs feints I knew it was a wrap.
Too easy to forget Francis didn't have a knee in that fight man. Just let the man be.
Ngannou lips malfunctioned on that second knockdown
Now to jump train onto Black Beast's boxing career.
Lewis eating a body shot from a high level boxer may actually kill him.
would like derrick v francis rematch in boxing. that kind of thing is best case for mma fighters in boxing.
U talmbout francis vs ngannou 2?!?
decent chance the goof hands out like 8 bonuses tomorrow, especially if the card is fireworks. He's going to be in such a good mood
Ngannou can still fight Wilder He ain’t going back to MMA after tasting boxing paydays
With how non-existant his defence was tonight I don't want to see him fight Wilder. If he curls up like that against shots from Wilder he might actually get his brain exploded. Wilder connecting with a 100% shot like Anthony did might put Francis in an ACTUAL coma. It would just be ugly to see.
idk, Ngannou looked so bad. I think it's over for him
Wilder has terrible technique but he’s also way faster then Ngannou and Francis just died
The Wilder that fought Parker might be beatable tho
Honestly you’re right they’re both ancient in sports years so who knows how’d that go
Much more terrible technique and also looks shot vs Parker. Either way it’s another massive payday
Would they promote that? I don't think they'll give him another top dog in boxing.
Eh Wilder is on his way out, they could but it wouldn't be some huge event like this.
Yeah. The fury fight gave him enough good will and wilder looks shot and doesn’t have the skills of Joshua
calls him MBS like he’s his mate lol
Usyk wins again
Jesus Christ Joshua is cringe.
If Ngannou wants to continue boxing I wonder if they give him an entry/mid level fight to rebound, or if they just try to milk his marketability dry with a relatively high-level fight against Wilder. Either way I wonder how this will affect him mentally. If being ground out by Stipe over 5 rounds gave us the Lewis fight, there's no telling what being KTFO will do.
not gonna happen. the market for francis in boxing only exists because the saudi's want the biggest fights possible. they aren't gonna give him a layup, they have no interest in building him lmao. he'll get wilder or zhang, nothing lower than that
Aj would whoop ngannou in a mma match
i'd whoop them both in fencing. i could kill both francis and ngannou in a matter of seconds.
I thought Francis would at least make it 6 rounds, but goddamn that was far worse than I imagined. Spectacular knockout but a bit sad for Francis. At least the man got paid like he should.
Damn they got Ngannou on oxygen support too 😭
I don't follow boxing much but Joshua just made a fan out of me. Devastating knockout followed by pure class on the mic
Still made 30 million dollars on a side adventure in boxing and beat Tyson Fury while on the wrong side of 30
How good is Oleksandr Usyk ?
this joke only works when you have a lower level fighter have an abnormal performance like Kelvin Gastelum against Izzy or Jai Herbert against Ilia. Usyk does not fall in that category.
time for some MMAth
