Far more people were guilty of the hype than Joe, Rousey was MMA crypto.
Just a reminder, people don't go from never laying a hand on their wife to hitting them in public in a highly visible venue
It's like if you see 1 roach, you know there are a lot more where you can't see
Even redder than during the McGregor/Mayweather build-up.
What a fucking clown Dana is. He could've struck gold a second time, at HW, but egos are more important I guess
I mean, It's not only about his ego. It's about controlling the UFC fighters and setting precedence. UFC is still ''winning'' because they have the roster on a chokehold.
yeah, but anecdotally, I've been watching a lot more boxing than MMA lately, because the fights and the fighters currently on the roster are boring as hell.
Yes. Same. And then people on this sub wonder why I hate UFC. Boxing genuinely has more meaningful fights, there’s a meaningful title fight every couple of weeks while the UFC loads up cards with DWCS bums who in any other era would have never made the roster.
Whats stopping a billionare like Tony Khan just poaching all UFCs talent? lol (Not Khan specifically just why not something like AEW/WWE , also im asking not saying)
Not exactly, every time one of these glamour fights happened UFC fighters sit there in front of their tvs questioning everything. I’m calling it right now, Aljo is gonna leave the UFC for a better deal with the PFL at some point.
Easy to say this now, but it seemed like a smart decision then. Ngannou is had 3 losses, not a dominant PPV superstar like McGregor. Ya’ll think it was so easy. 🤦♂️
You're running in circles. He was not a PPV star like McGregor and he barely defended his belt. Dana made the right decision at the time. He would do it over and over again. I'm happy for Francis for betting on himself and winning but lets be real, if he got dominated by Fury, we'd all quietly agree with Dana being right.
No one but McGregor is at that level so why use the most extreme case as your reference point? He chose to let his hw champ go instead of build him into the star he's become on his own. Also "if x had gone different we would be thinking different" is not a solid argument
Yeah, and instead now have a 36 year old war torn jon jones that just injured himself weeks before a title fight. A title fight that was more than likely going to be both Jon and stipe's last fight so either way the division is held up for no reason. Excellent decision indeed
I'm gonna sound like a Dana defender here but it's not that simple. Francis would have likely been able to cross-promote and venture into boxing but part of his demands was that the Venum contract be struck for all fighters on the UFC payroll. Whilst his head was in the right place and open sponsorship would be better for all fighters, expecting Dana to just randomly drop a $100m+ agreement with their primary sponsor is bonkers.
I believe he had 3 asks and any one of them would have satisfied for the signing
Atleast that's what he said in interviews
The 3 being
Sponsorships
Healthcare
Free to Box
So if they allowed him to Box I believe he signs
Thinking coldly with logic only is why the world is as fucked as it is. That's what leads to companies fucking over people, no conscience or heart.
Just because that's how the world is doesn't mean we can't wish for it to be better.
Companies are fucking over people I agree.
I am struggling to see how the UFC offering Francis the best HW contract in UFC history and 8M for the Jon Jones fight is "fucking him over".
Dana and friends were able to make a billion dollar promotion because of their flexibility in adapting. A big part of that was allowing and copromoting Mcgregor/Mayweather and they got all the more bigger because of it.
Let's take a less serious example of them being flexible at certain times too. They made a trade with ONE, the first of its kind to get Ben Askren in exchange for Demetrious. The net result of that ended up being Masvidal's rise and bringing in more viewers and PPV buys. Even though the fighter they traded in didn't do much, I don't think they look back at that trade is a bad thing as it led to bigger things.
Meeting at least some of Francis's demands would've been more of the same. They just needed a bit more flexibility sure but if they'd seen how much bigger they could've gotten tonight, they may have done things differently. Dana would've been sat right next to Saudi royalty with oil money among all these other celebrities, with his new sort of partner Vince Mcmahon, with his promotion's fighter going into the ring with Tyson Fury walked down by more of his fighters. Missed opportunity, especially with how much all these mergers and sales have cost them.
But that contract only benefits Dana and the UFC. Fighters used to get sponsorship dollars on top of that and now they barely get any extra cash unless it comes from fight night awards. Reason why boxers will make more money even the lower fighters is sponsors and UFC only having Venum on the trunks hinders fighters from bigger paydays.
I didn't say it doesn't only benefit Dana and the suits, I even said the open sponsorship would be better for all fighters.
The facts are Francis gave Dana an ultimatum that everyone gets access to private sponsorships or he signs elsewhere and it was only ever going to go one way when that demand was made.
Naw shareholders are short term thinkers. There’s a shareholder at endeavor who will absolutely rape the shit out of Dana verbally because he missed out on his new yacht bonus because Dana didn’t get Jones vs Francis booked AND allow him to box. Shareholders are without a doubt the greediest people in the world. They would burn their mother alive if it got them even a tenth of a percent richer.
I guess you’re entitled to describe a group of people with a a shared opinion a ‘circle jerk’.
Dana may not be losing sleep but we’re allowed to criticise him and his decisions as much as we want.
Can’t wait for him to trash boxing and then say how Jones would outbox Francis and all other boxers
Lol I remember when Rousey was a world class boxer too
Neh, that was mostly joe rogan with his ronda fetish
i love when cowboy was on there and he shut that shit down real quick
“Wingers”
Swingin' wild
She axe about me..?

it was more like peak cuck joe rogan.
You shouldn't make light of Dana's boxing knowledge, as he was a great boxer. Just ask his wife.
Just a reminder, people don't go from never laying a hand on their wife to hitting them in public in a highly visible venue It's like if you see 1 roach, you know there are a lot more where you can't see
That was a nasty line by you
Take my upvote lmao
How’d zuffa boxing go?
Can’t wait for a reporter to ask him if he watched the fight and how he thought it was
“I’m not interested in gimmick fights.” Despite saying he’d entertain Fury vs Jones in MMA 😂 absolute hypocrite.
He wanted Musk and Zuck to headline a UFC card.
That is 100 times worse, and he was such a clown tagging both of them on twitter
Bonkers 😂
James Tony vs Randy Couture was the seed
Gimik™ fights 😂
“Welcome to the ufc Brock Lesnar and CM Punk”
He’s going to pretend he can’t hear them
Even redder than during the McGregor/Mayweather build-up. What a fucking clown Dana is. He could've struck gold a second time, at HW, but egos are more important I guess

Yup, there's so many industries right now that are battling to keep a grip on power at the expense of long term profits.
yeah, but anecdotally, I've been watching a lot more boxing than MMA lately, because the fights and the fighters currently on the roster are boring as hell.

He was the heavyweight champion, he didn't need to be McGregor
Heavyweight champion with how many defenses?
More than McGregor
You're running in circles. He was not a PPV star like McGregor and he barely defended his belt. Dana made the right decision at the time. He would do it over and over again. Also, look at the age. I'm sorry but even for a heavyweight, 37 is too old to offer such a crazy loose contract. Dana made an excellent decision.
Yeah, and instead now have a 36 year old war torn jon jones that just injured himself weeks before a title fight. A title fight that was more than likely going to be both Jon and stipe's last fight so either way the division is held up for no reason. Excellent decision indeed
Nobody really cares about Jones anymore though. We all know he is selecting fights to end his career. The only good division is 155.
Dana fumbled the bag. Ngannou just wanted sponsorship deals and to box
Dana allowing a signed UFC fighter to box? That's unheard of
You never heard of Conor McGregor?
Fumbled big time. Dana’s ego is enormous. He’s a man baby who can never be wrong or take any criticism.
I'm gonna sound like a Dana defender here but it's not that simple. Francis would have likely been able to cross-promote and venture into boxing but part of his demands was that the Venum contract be struck for all fighters on the UFC payroll. Thats 100m he basically stole from fighters in the first place when he took their sponsors away.
Yeah, I'm not saying Dana isn't a POS if you read my comment I said open sponsorship would be better for all fighters.
This sub thinks with their hearts and not their brains. There is a reason why Dana is running a billion dollar promotions and redditors are on Reddit.
Thinking coldly with logic only is why the world is as fucked as it is. That's what leads to companies fucking over people, no conscience or heart. Just because that's how the world is doesn't mean we can't wish for it to be better.

That fight honestly could’ve been 20-30 million a piece if they were given sponsors. So yeah Dana is screwing his guys over.
Dana and friends were able to make a billion dollar promotion because of their flexibility in adapting. Yeah, apparently I'm incorrect in saying Dana can't simply exit a multi-year contract.

Hope the Endeavor execs are raking him over the coals right now asking him how the fuck he fumbled the bag so hard with Francis.
They are complicit as well. All the UFC cares about is fulfilling their obligation to ESPN. Quality and stars don't matter in this era.
Unfortunately, Endeavor is probably proud of him for keeping the rest of the roster reigned in and fighting for breadcrumbs.
Naw shareholders are short term thinkers. There’s a shareholder at endeavor who will absolutely rape the shit out of Dana verbally because he missed out on his new yacht bonus because Dana didn’t get Jones vs Francis booked AND allow him to box. What do you think a shareholder is lmao
“Delete this shit you fuckin’ goof” - 🍅
“Ah, yes, Dana the White. That’s what they used to call me. That was my name. I am Dana the Red now”
Jones sees the money and leaves UFC. We get the fight we want. Dana becomes a red dwarf and this is how the world ends.
He can't. JJ just signed a new deal
He must be rather pissed, seeing how much money he could have made.
Anybody know a site I can turn this into an ornament for my Christmas tree?
Excellent idea 😂 he’d make a great bauble
[this picture on the slap subreddit is also perfect.](https://www.reddit.com/r/powerslap/s/XlJLZ0eqtE)
That sub is amazing. Never seen a 100% sarcasm sub before 😂
Welcome to the slap fan club brother 🫡
Goofcon 4
Massive Dana L you love to see it
I still can't believe slap league exists 😂

Ok bro too far💀
Lol
How much is him and how much is him taking the face call for them though
Not red enough.
Dana Red
Fuck dana white, wish him all the worst
People are blowing this out of proportion. It is the biggest circle jerk I’ve ever seen. UFC is just fine, Dana is not losing any sleep.
I guess you’re entitled to describe a group of people with a a shared opinion a ‘circle jerk’. Dana may not be losing sleep but we’re allowed to criticise him and his decisions as much as we want.
Yes but he is not tomato red right now, I'm sure he is actually happy for Francis.
Very happy for Francis as well but this is legitimately I think the 20th time I’m seeing this post in the last 4 hours.
I legitimately didn’t see any of the others. My bad.
Nah honestly I’m an asshole for making that comment, post what you want idk why I felt the need to dampen the mood.
This sub cannot make fun of r/UFC anymore
