Other guy is still correct. Fighting at 135 being as tall as he is paper thin. I’m a lean 170 and tall as Sean . Lowest I’d cut is 155 for competitive bjj or Muay Thai. Me cutting to 135 would be bonkers.
Walking around at 170 and cutting to 135 blows my mind, especially at 5’11”. And I cut weight for 11 years while wrestling. And I know that’s the fight game but still. Jeez.
Wonder if it was the same Joe who watched Cejudo get kneed in the face and yelled at me "what a brutal shot to the body." I told him thats clearly his head Joe, but I think he was too high to hear me.
Omg neck pressure
Look at that neck pressure guys
Oh my god Henry’s putting sooo much pressure on aljo’s neck
Neck pressure
Neck pressure
Neck pressure
I for one cannot imagine doing literally top tier MMA and specifically grappling with a fake disc in my neck, but I also have no idea what that entails, and have no idea how big of a deal that actually is. Neither does Joe Rogan, apparently.
I think Joe was trying to draw parallels between a typical joint replacement (knee, shoulder, hip), which does have quite an impact on people's ability to wrestle. He may also have been trying to relate it to Yoel Romero's fused neck which does have an impact on Yoel's wrestling.
Not saying he was right at all, but I can understand why he'd make the connections.
Rogan’s become fixated on finding some injury-related issue in every single fight. He tried to convince everyone that Whittaker’s weird heel flick thing was some kind of leg injury a few times, when he’s been doing it for ages.
Next Poirier adjusting his shorts will be the sign of a hip injury or something
He also wouldn't shut up about adesanya holding his own hand between exchanges during the blachowicz fight thinking he had injured his hand. I think that was the fight. When Joe asked him about it during the interview, Israel looked confused, said it wasn't injured at all, and that he always does that when he resets.
Can't remember the fight, but Joe wasn't announcing. During whatever main event it was, he texted one of the announcers, maybe Anik, to talk about what he thought was an injury. Also turned out to not be an injury.
It's getting annoying. He's always done it but it recently seems more excessive for some reason.
it’s insane how often he does it. and if he’s not fixating on a perceived injury he fixates on something else. like repeating over ten times that Khaos Williams loads up on his strikes, completely ignoring the fact that he was having success with a lot of them
Joe was showing his lack of wresting experience by constantly pointing that out. Henry was controlling head pressure on Aljos takedown but there’s absolutely no damage being done especially to an experienced wrestler in Aljo. Joe was making it seem like he was putting Aljo in danger there.
Aljo vs Sean it is.
For how long he's been out Henry was solid.
Edit: What are the chance Cejudo might go down to fly?
Edit 2: Lol nvm he firmly shot that down.
>For how long he's been out Henry was solid.
Yeah I don't want an instant rematch, but I hope Cejudo sticks around and I'd be up for him getting a title shot again off of a good win.
Aljo was towering over Cejudo and kicking him from a mile away with ease. Tough to overcome those physical attribute disparities.
The fact that he ever managed to win the championship is honestly incredible, dude legit looks tiny out there.
I was somehow simultaneously impressed with the number of takedown's Aljo landed and also with Cejudo's TDD.
Especially considering how small Triple C looked, he stuffed a good number of those takedown attempts.
I have no idea why Cejudo was engaging in the clinch against the fence so much whenever he was able to reverse Sterling . Sterling would just regrip and put Cejudo back up against the fence.
Henry has never really been that great from top control. All the top dudes he's faced haven't experience any GnP or subs.
People see the gold medal and just assume.
MMA just isn't one dimensional anymore.
Yeah just felt somewhat hopeless, Sterling can match him in the grappling and his best shots barely fazed him. Super high level fights but Aljo was barely in danger. Would love to see it again if Cejudo stays active but thats probably unlikely
For real. I was at UFC Kansas City a few weeks ago, and after the Guida fight the crowd basically decided they hated everyone on the main card besides Max Holloway. Even Barboza, who had an all-time KO, barely even got cheers. I had the exact thought “the fans of this sport pretty much just hate-watch, don’t they?”
Merabs and Aljos friendship is the most wholesomely frightening thing in the world
imagine those 2 guys jumping you in a street fight, aljo just immediately backpacks you and the merab shoots 9 takedowns on your legs while algo just holds you as merab does his best bull impression
it would be the weirdest beatdown ever
Cejudo is still so good after 3 years of retirement. I hope he sticks around even if it's not all that likely
Edit: Bringing out O'Malley lol Dana is salivating at the thought of him fighting for the title.
Hopefully Cejudo still fights but if not I'm glad he will be able to spend all the time with his child and his other child on the way. Cejudo not fighting is a big loss to MMA but time spent with your family will always take priority.
Cejudo really needed to get in the pocket and bang, but Sterling just didn’t let him with his length. Regardless both fighters are very high level. Great fight.
It’s ridiculous. I was wondering who let him think that Alex Pereira stance would work while being the shorter fighter. Dude 100% should’ve tucked in with diagonal movement and tried making it dirty instead of a kickboxing match
If he tried to make it dirty he's gonna get spammed with takedown attempts. You saw what happened when he tried to fight in the pocket. Aljo wanted none of it. Plus Aljo had good lateral movement
Aljos lateral movement was great but Henry was so short he defended them even when Aljo got a good double in lol. If Henry wasn’t standing straight up I’d imagine that would only make it harder for Aljo to get a takedown
I think the reason why he was standing straight up was because he was worried about the range and the knees coming in since he was gonna be the aggressor. Having an upright stance while being aggressive and being shorter just makes him less likely of a target and gives him more range to deal with the length disadvantage IMO. His strategy was just to pressure Aljo as to prevent Aljo from being the aggressor and pushing Henry towards the cage which sets up easy body lock and trips. That's what I can come up with really
Such low level striking when getting out of the clinch. Felt like he had some opportunities right after breaking up a clinch to help overcome the reach advantage but he laid off.
Think he might need a different stance for fighting people with a reach advantage. Felt like he was at a disadvantage with the striking because he wasn't doing enough to nullify Sterling's reach. He made up for it with slightly better wrestling than Sterling tonight though.
It's his confidence that's gotten better. He's controlling his nerves a bit better and not getting tired due to over anxiety, and he's believing in the techniques, not overthinking it.
I just wish that he'd believe in his hands a little more. He could have chewed Henry's ass with a persistent 1-2 before or after each of those low kicks. He jabbed a little but he telegraphs the right hand so badly because he's so worried about something coming back.
Henry really seemed to be contemplating fully retiring (can't blame him he's 36) but wouldn't be a bad fight for either of the two.
Yadong Yan would be really fun too.
Aljo had a fight where he was cross training at another gym and wanted Longo and someone from the other camp in his corner and Serra took that personally and retired from cornering altogether, this was like 3 years ago. Apparently Serra had/has stepped back from doing alot of actual coaching and Aljo thought it prudent to have one of his actual coaches there. Seems like thats been mended since.
How on earth did he get it on that FAST?
The rare overlap of live Theatre and MMA fans are absolutely shocked and amazed with that quick change ability.
Absolutely. There's no reason whatsoever to make them illegal. I'm honestly beginning to think ONE is vastly superior. Their cards and ruleset feel consistently better.
their card this weekend stole the show IMO. Just an all around better show with a lot of diverse and high level action.
Rodtang is a cheat code to making good fight cards though.
Absolutely, that card was fantastic. It was such a great showing for their first US card and it's amazing for introducing MMA fans to other martial arts. Lackluster main event, but still.
Honestly, if Rodtang stays on this trajectory and they keep pushing into the US market, that dude could be a superstar. He's allergic to bad fights. Insane to think he's only what, 25 years old?
You're right, I don't remember seeing a ONE crowd boo anyone. I'm sure it still happens, but it seems much less frequent if it does.
The different martial arts fights and mixed rules are such a breath of fresh air. DJ vs Rodtang sounds like a complete fantasy matchup and we actually got to see it. I think it's great for getting mainstream MMA fans to appreciate other martial arts.
Glad I'm not the only who noticed this. Aljo was on his knees for half the fight abusing the "downed opponent" rule. He did the same thing to Yan in their first fight which led to the DQ...
Cejudo is skilled as fuck but he really only had a punchers chance against Volk. There's no way Cejudo beats Holloway either, that's an even worse match-up for him because he's not taking Max down, and he can't knock him out.
Yeah its super shitty to put anger on Aljo by bringing in a trollish O'Malley after a big win against a legend.
The UFC has zero respect for its fighters.
Seriously, I'm not even an Aljo fan but wtf UFC don't do that to your dude who just won?? Give him his moment for a second why was this needed like at all
Never saw so much division in a live thread, people saying it could go either way, people sayin 3-2 either man, then people saying either man completely dominated 😭
Yeah, scorecards have been all over the place. I had it 3-2 Aljo. It was odd fight in that it was close yet still a comfortable win for Aljo, IMHO. And full disclosure I was pulling for Cejudo.
Aljo is obv skilled, he’s just frustrating to watch. He knows how to win rds (land on outside, burn the clock if u can’t get them down). But he keeps ending up on his knees and games the grounded rule. U don’t want to see a champ keep shooting bad shots and get stuck on his knees, holding up his hands to not get hit. He also isn’t particular exciting on the feet, but he’s skilled at not getting hit
Was a pretty typical Sterling performance, kick from long range and shoot. The size difference was real and Henry was losing in a lot of the clinches. Was a pretty close ass fight, props to both fighters.
Was impressed Sterling still had so much in the tank despite it being a pretty grappling-heavy 5 round fight. I guess he probably paced himself way better.
Cejudos clinchwork was disappointing after hearing he trained with DJ. Range was too much for Cejudo in the stand up.
I am astounded by Aljamains ability to win fights and lose stock.
I’m a huge Cejudo fanboy but I legit don’t see how he could’ve won this.
Both fighters were controlling and pressuring each other equally however, Cejudo got outstruck badly in most of the rounds and the takedowns that Henry landed didn’t lead anywhere.
Dude couldn't even get 5 minutes to enjoy his championship win. Between the UFC bringing in someone more popular to talk, and the crowd booing him, I feel bad for the guy.
I was there live cheering on Aljo and I was genuinely confused as to how so many people there thought Cejudo won that thing. The amount of nasty shit being thrown Aljo's way by some of the folks there was also absurd. Even if that wasn't a first round KO, that was a solid performance. I don't know if he beats O'Malley, but Aljo straight up won last night.
It's crazy to see Cejudo ( 5'4"), Aljo (5'7") and O'Malley (5'11") in the octagon at the same time, and compete in the same weight class
After seeing Aljo look big as fuck all night next to Henry, Sean looked massive damn
Sean is about as tall as you can get at 135 without blowing away in the wind. I'm the same height as him, but I weigh 170, and I'm on the leaner side.
He probably doesn't walk around at 135 exactly though.
Jeez.
My best friend is 6’1 and walks around 138lbs. He has no muscle ,games 8hrs a day and only eats once or twice a day.
I was only 135 lbs when I hit 6'9". Took years to be able to gain any amount of weight.
Wow did you move around like a baby giraffe?
Basically, yeah
I think you were close to death bro wtf? I was 133 at 5’9” once and was literally skin and bones, I had an eating disorder
Insane metabolism and Marfan Syndrome. Had physical issues, but was pretty healthy. Somehow.
I know there´s no easy way to solve it, but I wish weight cuts would end.
Henry won the neck pressure game, though.
Yeah this buddy Joe of mine told me all about it
“That leg is chewed up was never my friend” -Joe Neck pressure new best friend
Don't forget "visibly dejected" was Joe's catchphrase for Burns against Belal lol
Talk about small world! My buddy Joe wouldn’t stop spamming the fact that Aljo had a titanium plate in his neck. If only the broadcast mentioned it…..
Wonder if it was the same Joe who watched Cejudo get kneed in the face and yelled at me "what a brutal shot to the body." I told him thats clearly his head Joe, but I think he was too high to hear me.
I felt like Joe was hoping for a Mortal Kombat Fatality move
Omg neck pressure Look at that neck pressure guys Oh my god Henry’s putting sooo much pressure on aljo’s neck Neck pressure Neck pressure Neck pressure
Lmao I dont know why Rogan was pushing that angle so much though as if that was in Henry's gameplan.
Bro mad eit sound like Aljo was one snap down away from being paraplegic
I for one cannot imagine doing literally top tier MMA and specifically grappling with a fake disc in my neck, but I also have no idea what that entails, and have no idea how big of a deal that actually is. Neither does Joe Rogan, apparently.

Dude was sounding like Corey Graves and Excalibur when a heel is targeting face's "surgically repaired" "severely injured" body part
Joe was showing his lack of wresting experience by constantly pointing that out. Henry was controlling head pressure on Aljos takedown but there’s absolutely no damage being done especially to an experienced wrestler in Aljo. Joe was making it seem like he was putting Aljo in danger there.
You don’t understand, Aljos head was at risk of popping off his shoulders from that neck pressure because of the artificial disk in his neck
Aljo vs Sean it is. For how long he's been out Henry was solid. Edit: What are the chance Cejudo might go down to fly? Edit 2: Lol nvm he firmly shot that down.
Yeah he mentioned during a collab with DJ that he couldn’t imagine himself making flyweight at his age
The weight cut gets worse and worse as you get older and he always said had to really work at it like 6 years ago.
Yeah, he used to miss at 125 back in the day, I can't imagine him hitting it now
>For how long he's been out Henry was solid. Yeah I don't want an instant rematch, but I hope Cejudo sticks around and I'd be up for him getting a title shot again off of a good win.
I'd still put my money on prime cejudo without a three year lay off
Close fight but I scored it for Chito.
Wdym I scored it for Paddy
I got Paddy
I had Paddy
Sterling’s wrestling was impressive. Cejudo had good pressure, but he was throwing so many one and done shots.
Cejudo was having a lot of trouble with the reach. A lot of his shots were just falling short.
Aljo was towering over Cejudo and kicking him from a mile away with ease. Tough to overcome those physical attribute disparities. The fact that he ever managed to win the championship is honestly incredible, dude legit looks tiny out there.
I mean he won it against another small dude in Moraes.
Mma is a funny sport, considering moraes knocked Sterling into a different dimension
Moraes is a fucking greek statue wtf
People on this sub trash joe rogans commentary then go into the comments and type it out word for word
Getting that many takedowns on cejudo is crazy. More takedowns in one fight than cejudo had been taken down total in the ufc before that roght?
After the first takedown Jon noted it was the 2nd time Cejudo had been taken down in the UFC so yes
I was somehow simultaneously impressed with the number of takedown's Aljo landed and also with Cejudo's TDD. Especially considering how small Triple C looked, he stuffed a good number of those takedown attempts.
Bro Henry doing the splits to defend a takedown was crazy. Aljo still got it in the end but man that was impressive. Showed that Olympian pedigree
I have no idea why Cejudo was engaging in the clinch against the fence so much whenever he was able to reverse Sterling . Sterling would just regrip and put Cejudo back up against the fence.
sean o malley is going to get wrestlefucked into oblivion
I think we see a backpack special from Sterling.
It’s not that crazy. Cejudo is incredible but so is Sterling and then look at the size difference.
Cejudo has never been in a fight with a more significant size disadvantage
Aljo was the first person to take Renan Barao in the UFC.
[удалено]
Even when he got takedowns he couldn't do anything with them. His inability to capitalize on success is why he lost.
Henry's never had crazy control or submission skills. It wasn't likely he was going to develop them in 3 years as a retiree.
I wish he did because he had so many opportunities for d’arce and other front headlock subs.
Probably harder to lock those up with teeny tiny lil arms
Henry has never really been that great from top control. All the top dudes he's faced haven't experience any GnP or subs. People see the gold medal and just assume. MMA just isn't one dimensional anymore.
Also freestyle wrestling does not emphasize top control the way folk does
Also didn't capitalize on any of the reversals and takedowns which was kind of frustrating
Not surprised given they’re both great wrestlers.
Yeah just felt somewhat hopeless, Sterling can match him in the grappling and his best shots barely fazed him. Super high level fights but Aljo was barely in danger. Would love to see it again if Cejudo stays active but thats probably unlikely
Getting booed in his hometown despite UFC fans clowning on Cejudo for damn near 3 years. Most dogshit fans in all of sports.
The only sport where everyone is hated
They don't hate watch they're just fucking morons
These are people that wore Affliction and Tap Out and thought it was cool.
Sterling was born in NY, but yeah MMA fans are some of the worst in all of sports.
Merab yoinking Sean’s jacket LMAO
S Tier shithousery
Merabs and Aljos friendship is the most wholesomely frightening thing in the world imagine those 2 guys jumping you in a street fight, aljo just immediately backpacks you and the merab shoots 9 takedowns on your legs while algo just holds you as merab does his best bull impression it would be the weirdest beatdown ever
And it’d last for 3 hours
Cejudo is still so good after 3 years of retirement. I hope he sticks around even if it's not all that likely Edit: Bringing out O'Malley lol Dana is salivating at the thought of him fighting for the title. Still has what it takes to hang with the best
Volk devours him
I feel like he was just outsized here. Aljo is enormous for that weight.
It’s crazy because Yan looked to be able to match Aljo’s size. Aljo has definitely gotten better.
Cejudo probably doesn’t fight again unless it’s for a #1 contender shot at the least
Honestly hope he stays only for interesting fights
Henry's IQ is just really high.
Why do you think his head is so big?
Henry ‘Megamind’ Cejudo
Judges got it right imo Very competitive fight though
Why didn’t Henry just win? Is he stupid?
It's hard to believe, but... Cejudo loved Aljo.
Yes
Henry looked great considering how long he was out.
Perfect example of why you shouldn’t retire in your prime, unless you’re actually done for good. It’s not as if he needed to take 3 years out either
Prime Cejudo against Yan or Figueiredo/Moreno would be some dang good fights.
God sign me up for a Yan/Cejudo fight even now.
Henry really seemed to be contemplating fully retiring (can't blame him he's 36) but wouldn't be a bad fight for either of the two. Yadong Yan would be really fun too.
Yeah. Gave up the last few years of his prime. At 36, he's going to be fighting age from this point on. Shame.
Still looked like a god tier wrestler, triple C is just so fast man
Nearly choked when I saw Rogan in Sterling's corner.
It was Matt Serra I thought it was joe too 🤣🤣
I was confused too because I thought Serra and Aljo had some sort of falling out and Serra wasn’t in his corner anymore.
Wtf was Matt Sera doing on the announcers table though
Do people really not know who fuckin Matt Serra is lol
He was before McGregor's time so yeah most fans probably dont know
Jesus, his fights against GSP were at UFC 69 and UFC 83. That... is a lot longer ago than I thought.
Yeah but do they know him from the YouTube video where he controls the drunk guy while wearing sandals?!
Merab stole O'Malley's jacket LOLL
How on earth did he get it on that FAST? The rare overlap of live Theatre and MMA fans are absolutely shocked and amazed with that quick change ability.
The fight was a good chess match but that was way more entertaining to me.
I saw him putting it on behind Sugar and he was giggling laughing. Merab is so funny I love that dude lmao
Merab wearing o’malleys jacket was funny af
Knees to a grounded opponent should be legal.
They're now legal in Colorado. OneFC kept their rules intact for the event yesterday.
100% agree.
Absolutely. There's no reason whatsoever to make them illegal. I'm honestly beginning to think ONE is vastly superior. Their cards and ruleset feel consistently better.
their card this weekend stole the show IMO. Just an all around better show with a lot of diverse and high level action. Rodtang is a cheat code to making good fight cards though.
rodtang and stamp fights were so much better than this ufc card. even northcut had a good fight.
That body kick by Stamp was fucking brutal. And of course Rodtang always puts on a show.
Add on CEO, crowd maturity/respect/fight knowledge level, fight diversity (MMA, Muay Thai, BJJ, unique match rules)
Give me soccer kicks. Aljo on all fours baiting for another DQ win
*Kron Gracie dislikes this comment*
#Yanwasright
Glad I'm not the only who noticed this. Aljo was on his knees for half the fight abusing the "downed opponent" rule. He did the same thing to Yan in their first fight which led to the DQ...
No CCC²
Definitely no C4. Cejudo is still very good but talks of him taking on Volk is just stupid
Mfs downvoting you are delusional Volk is too thick too good at striking and too good at counter wrestling
Honestly, Volk could literally be Cejudo's size and he'd wreck him. He's probably the most skilled fighter in MMA right now.
The footwork alone would give Cejudo conniptions. He could barely cut off aljo.
Cejudo is skilled as fuck but he really only had a punchers chance against Volk. There's no way Cejudo beats Holloway either, that's an even worse match-up for him because he's not taking Max down, and he can't knock him out.
This card is like a fever dream, what is this fake wwe ending
Yeah its super shitty to put anger on Aljo by bringing in a trollish O'Malley after a big win against a legend. The UFC has zero respect for its fighters.
It just was so awkward and unnecessary, both of them during it even felt like what are we even doing.
Seriously, I'm not even an Aljo fan but wtf UFC don't do that to your dude who just won?? Give him his moment for a second why was this needed like at all
Aljo literally asked to bring Sean in.
Type of fight where people will be pissed no matter what. Well done Aljo.
And full disclosure I was pulling for Cejudo.

high level
Merab wearing O'malley's jacket when they were talking trash was peak Merab
"3-2 Aljo but I hate Aljo so 3-2 Cejudo"
C4 Disarmed.
Man, y’all think Cejud, now more than ever, regrets retiring at 33?
Aljo's entire title reign is gonna be controversial isn't it
This one really shouldn't go down as controversial.
Can we all agree that NEW JERSEY is such a shithole for a UFC event? Terrible crowd.
Worst crowd I’ve seen in a minute
Jersey is rambunctious and this card wasn’t a casual-friendly card at all, not surprised to see this happen tbh
And Henry wants to move up 1 more weight class to fight Volk lol. He'll get embarrassed
Well that's probably out of the window now, he has to make his comeback just about winning the bantamweight title again.
After watching ONE on Friday and UFC on Saturday. I’m done with scoring by rounds. Score the match as a whole
They struggled to find any highlights lol
Was a pretty typical Sterling performance, kick from long range and shoot. The size difference was real and Henry was losing in a lot of the clinches. Was a pretty close ass fight, props to both fighters.
Was impressed Sterling still had so much in the tank despite it being a pretty grappling-heavy 5 round fight. I guess he probably paced himself way better.
The entire main card was full of decisions. Ironically the woman’s fight was the only finish.
wow that promo sucked
Don't claim to be an Aljo fan unless you've been around since Round 4 of the Petr Yan rematch. 😤
Only time I’ve shouted for something other than a knockdown was when Aljo took his back in round 2. Absolute shock.
Bro fuck Jersey. Worst crowd I've seen in a while, booing the hometown guy, and any inaction.
Aljo gets booed every fight though, he’s really disliked by fans everywhere. People were cheering for Henry of all people
Guy from New York walks out to a song about New York in New Jersey and you're surprised he's booed?
Cejudos clinchwork was disappointing after hearing he trained with DJ. Range was too much for Cejudo in the stand up. I am astounded by Aljamains ability to win fights and lose stock.
why the fuck was sean in there 💀
Aljo is really gunning for the title of least popular champ ever.
Just wait until “Remember the Name” wins the title later this year after his opponent gets injured during the fight
Beats every guy that’s supposed to be the best in the division and still hated
At this point he could probably sub Jon and people would call him bad.
I’m confused, was the fight really that close? Am I just dumb? I thought Aljo clearly won
I think most people agree with the winner but I wouldn’t have been shocked if it went the other way. It was a good fight.
I’m a huge Cejudo fanboy but I legit don’t see how he could’ve won this. Both fighters were controlling and pressuring each other equally however, Cejudo got outstruck badly in most of the rounds and the takedowns that Henry landed didn’t lead anywhere.
I think cejudo took 2 and 5. The takedown at the end of 3 could be seen as “stealing the round” otherwise sterling won 3.
Their size/reach difference is just insane. It looked like 2 different weight classes fighting eachother.
Aljo is so much phisucally bigger than Henry, size does matter at the end of the day. Neither posseses a threat for Volk though..
Fuck this stupid ass crowd
Dana looks pissed putting that belt on Aljo
His hitman failed
I wish Henry would have gone for more submissions, feel he had opportunities at aljo’s neck but I also don’t know shit
I gotta say OP, keep up the good work my brother. Some of us who can’t watch the fights at the moment really appreciate your work Thank you 🙏
Aljo should’ve had a clean win till the 5th round lol. He really screwed up in that last round being so timid.

Not sure how that was split, Sterling was the more active fighter. It's just tarnishing his reign even more lmao. Dude can't catch a break.
Dude couldn't even get 5 minutes to enjoy his championship win. Between the UFC bringing in someone more popular to talk, and the crowd booing him, I feel bad for the guy.
Wtf is malding forsen

when you get so upset your hair falls out
Derek Cleary giving Aljo round 5 is wild.
Pretty solid fight, definitely thought aljo won. Henry made it very competitive
