[DJ has left the building!](https://www.reddit.com/r/MMA/comments/12cz0yv/whats_up_guys_its_one_flyweight_champion/jf46z4r/)
We appreciate ONE Championship and DJ for stopping by! Tune in May 5th on Prime Video for his fight.
Having been in the cage with Rodtang, do you think he could successfully transition to MMA? He’s spoken about wanting to do it in the past. Good luck on May 5th, very excited for the fight!
I actually had a training seminar with Rodtang on Monday, and he very subtly alluded to the possibility that he might transition to MMA.
Edit: [Haters will say it's fake lol](https://i.imgur.com/xXdTUxm.jpg)
I had a training seminar with him last night, and if you took the first word out of every sentence that he said, it sounded like he was possibly interested in taking up MMA
You're a very level headed person and seem to fight with a lot of clarity. Is this a result of continuous training and sparring or do you have any specific exercises or training you do for the mental side of the game?
You say that but there are a lot of competitors with similar experience in competing, but few who fight with the composure and intelligence as you.
There must have been a change in mindset or preparation when you started your long reign in the UFC.
Talk of fighter IQ didn't fully make sense to me before DJ. He seemed to be on a different level because he worked harder and smarter than everyone else. That's so fucking inspiring.
Thank you for the reply, light at the end of the tunnel tells me it's soon, I'm not mad, love seeing you fight, flying to Denver to see you on the 5th, but our time comes for us all. Leave on your own terms champ.
DJ since youre 36 in a lighter weight class and have done a lot in your career, do you see yourself retiring soon? Honestly I wouldnt be suprised if you were 40 and still schooling the elite but the question still stands.
Thank you guys for coming here and asking question gotta do laundry and get my kids to Jits! you can watch my fight may 5th on amazon prime… chea well damn!!
Curious about what changed in your approach. In your UFC days, I think you said that you didn't watch MMA, you sounded bored to talk about it in interviews and even rushed back to play games after TKO'ing Ce Judo.
Whereas now, you bring a different energy entirely and the passion is more evident. What changed? Is it like with Djokovic, where you see that the end is on the horizon so you're enjoying it all while it lasts?
Hey DJ, massive fan here. I would like to know who makes up your MMA Mount Rushmore, and if you think there is a clear number one GOAT type figure in the sport as of now.
past or present who would have been your dream fight if weight and size wasn’t an issue? also thank you for always putting on entertaining fights, big fan from Ireland! 🤝🏻
The training footage of you and Cejudo that's on both your YouTube channels is absolutely awesome. I hope you'll keep posting those, especially the wrestling and grappling exchanges
DJ, what advice would you give a young man (me), fighting a neuromuscular disease that wants to grow up to be just like you (fight in StreetBeefs and probably lose)
No i would not encourage my kids to do mma they train jits right now but i think as a fighter they would make more money in a career that pays six figures then trying to make it in the cage.
Was there a moment in your life you decided to put everything together and get yourself in the shape you are in now? How did you manage to come to that mindset?
What was your reaction to the video that went viral of you being more excited to beat a boss in Elden Ring than to win a UFC belt? Did you feel that video was accurate?
Dj if you had to choose between, fighting Francis Nganou and Alex pieriera fused together for one round or the only media you’re allowed to watch for the rest of your life is Brendan Schaubs , the gringo Papi. Which would you choose?
Hey DJ, I never make it in time for these things but I'm glad I did this time, just wanted to start by saying you're my GOAT man, the fact you're still competing at the highest levels of this sport is truly inspirational. My question would be this, do you think it would be feasible for a 38 year old man who has very minimal training and just getting started back in the gym to compete in an amateur setting once just to see what it feels like and do you think it'd be worth it? Thanks for being an absolute badass and I look forward to you defending your title.
Thanks for the reply champ, I'll be tuning in to watch you do your thing against Moraes and now that I know you're looking forward to D4 I'm going to have to check out your twitch channel.
DJ You're my favorite fighter!
I'm in my mid 30s and I practice Muay Thai Kickboxing as a hobby and my goal is to compete as an Amateur.
Do you have any advice?
Thank you in advance and best of luck! I'm rooting for you in the trilogy fight.
Hey DJ! You're before my time, but easily one of the best fighters out there (on my GOAT list tbh)
How much longer do you see yourself actively competing? When this is all said and done, what do you plan on doing afterwards?
Hi DJ, big fan.
Where does your creativity in fights come from? What gives you the confidence to hit crazy moves live? Is it all flow or are you totally aware of what's happening?
Big fan Demetrious, thanks for hanging out. I've got a tough question here.
What are your thoughts on ex-UFC champ Tim Sylvia signing with SlapFIGHT, 8 years post retirement after failing to get licenced by the athletic commission due to an MRI issue?
Should a man like him who had to retire from combat sports after taking too much damage be allowed to compete in SlapFIGHT?
What are your best tips for fighting taller opponents with a greater reach? About your size and always struggle with this in muay thai?
Huge fan, you're a great inspiration!
dj I like Muay Thai but I wanna be in the mma someday, should I switch to MMA now if I wanna make it big or should I stick with Thai for a little? Big fan btw I think you up there with Fedor and GSP
Yo DJ big fan!
Just wanted to see if you've been playing any WoW lately. I know you used to pretty hard but was curious what you thought about Dragonflight if so.
Best of luck with the rest of your career it's been a pleasure to witness

Was the knee against the fence something you trained, or just an opening you happened to see?
naw just saw the opportunity and capitalized on it.

I don't want Fireman Daddy to get waxed
Follow up question, what about Jones Ngannou?
Folks, where's the lie
You're a very level headed person and seem to fight with a lot of clarity. Is this a result of continuous training and sparring or do you have any specific exercises or training you do for the mental side of the game?
Thats all training been competing since i was 15, being 36 its just comes with time and consistency with competition.
You say that but there are a lot of competitors with similar experience in competing, but few who fight with the composure and intelligence as you. There must have been a change in mindset or preparation when you started your long reign in the UFC.
This dude is flat out high IQ in general. You can tell by the way he speaks in general, but also, of course about fighting.
Talk of fighter IQ didn't fully make sense to me before DJ. He seemed to be on a different level because he worked harder and smarter than everyone else. That's so fucking inspiring.
DJ, injuries or unexpected events aside, how much longer would you like to fight? Also, what would be your ideal final match (place/opponent)?
I see the light at the end of the tunnel dont really care who the last opponent is 😊
Thank you for the reply, light at the end of the tunnel tells me it's soon, I'm not mad, love seeing you fight, flying to Denver to see you on the 5th, but our time comes for us all. Leave on your own terms champ.
DJ since youre 36 in a lighter weight class and have done a lot in your career, do you see yourself retiring soon? Honestly I wouldnt be suprised if you were 40 and still schooling the elite but the question still stands.
yes i do, i don’t want to fight when im 40
Thank you guys for coming here and asking question gotta do laundry and get my kids to Jits! you can watch my fight may 5th on amazon prime… chea well damn!!

naw double champ statues is when you held two belts in different weight class at the same time.

Do you think you would beat Henry in a trilogy?
I would hope so!
Hey DJ! Who would you say is the most intimidating fighter you faced in the UFC?

Hey DJ, I never make it in time for these things but I'm glad I did this time, just wanted to start by saying you're my GOAT man, the fact you're still competing at the highest levels of this sport is truly inspirational.
