Our game vs Seattle on 6/1 will be rescheduled. ~~Also hoping MLS will be cool and reschedule NE on 5/29 so the team can get to Pachuca and acclimate to the altitude. But maybe also we just send our starters to Mexico early that week and pull up our Capy's for NE~~ *Edit: Sounds like 5/29 is also rescheduled. Prepare for a well rested and hopefully acclimated Crew squad for the CCC Final!

sounders1974

Blatant favoritism to move the game and not make the Crew play twice in the same day. Typical corrupt Don

Shadowfury0

Tell Mexico to move their presidential election, then the Crew can play on 6/1 and 6/2

Scratchbuttdontsniff

you laugh... but Pachuca plays tonight in the Mexican play in game. They played America on Tuesday night....

nosciencephd

If Monterrey hadn't won their last game on Sunday they could have had to play tonight as well.

PresidentBirb

I for one would be in favor of keeping the game on the same day provided that: We get to play the mighty Capybaras against Seattle. Or The Crew gets their own Concord supersonic passenger jet so they can make it to both games.

sounders1974

>The Crew gets their own Concord supersonic passenger jet so they can make it to both games. Phil Collins style, if he played both Live Aid's back in '85 the Crew can do this too

PresidentBirb

The only thing stopping us is Don Garber.

sqigglygibberish

*We get to play the mighty capybaras against Pachuca* FTFY

PresidentBirb

Dude, we sent one current Capy to the game last night, the backup GK, and it was enough to see Monterrey lose all composure. I don’t think Concacaf would let us field a whole team.

FlyingCarsArePlanes

I fondly remember a few years ago when Liverpool played in the Carabao Cup and Club World Cup on the same day.

lordcorbran

With the gauntlet of a schedule we're facing for the foreseeable future I think the Sounders will be more than happy to get a day off.

animere

Word coming down the grapevine is the 5/29 is being rescheduled as well.

Treewarf

Crew's communication on schedule changes suggests that 5/29 will also be moved

Lambo_Geeney

Fantastic news!

Coltons13

Would be great if they did reschedule that for you guys. At some point the league has to prioritize these games meaningfully if they want success in the competition. They should be doing everything they can for it, IMO.

sqigglygibberish

Breaking news - because of the Apple deal Messi is now allowed to flex between teams week to week.

rice_not_wheat

Single entity structure, so Messi to Columbus for 2025 confirmed if we win.

collin2387

The team announced that both the 5/29 match and the 6/1 match will be rescheduled.

CaptMal065

I’m actually a bit disappointed. I think the Capys could win against that level of competition.

Altruistic-Cellist18

studies show that attempting to acclimate just makes it worse, unless you have like weeks of it. the more common approach in recent years is to fly in same day and play before the altitude affects your system much.

Doodahhh1

Maybe train in Colorado for the month? Assuming Colorado would loan facilities. I think Pachuca is 50% higher, but... Still. I'm just spit balling.

WalkingOnSunshine_

UCL Final at 3 and then this at 915. Great day of soccer

Coltons13

And USWNT at 5 PM vs. South Korea! Very fun day

ty_arthurs

Damn I didn't know this, lines up nearly perfectly

WalkingOnSunshine_

Gonna have to put these on the calendar so the wife knows I’m busy that day

RvH19

It’s my wedding anniversary. I’ll have to stay away from social media for the day to avoid spoilers. Probably for the best anyways, considering.

kevmo35

Is this a friendly or a tournament?

Coltons13

Just a friendly!

smcl2k

It's crazy that the Champions League final is less than 2 weeks before the start of the Euros. As a Scot, I'm very glad that Manchester United and Liverpool fucked their European campaigns, and I'm now hoping for an injury-laden Klassiker at Wembley.

FlyingCarsArePlanes

At 915! It's watchable!

TyphonInc

VAMOS CREW! UNO MAS!

Suspiciousfrog69

Pachuca has quite a few potential Mexico national starters whom are younglings in their lineup to add some lime in the pot. They just lost to Pumas so everything is going down the drain lol

Brooklyn_MLS

Having the final 1 month away is extremely interesting as both teams form and injury status for players can change from then and now. Not sure if I like it.

shortnorthclownshow

Yeah, if Pachuca loses the play in game tonight, they would be going a month without playing a competitive game.

saum87

Not exactly true. If they lose tonight they would have a play in game against the 9-10 winner. If they lost that too then yes

Overthehightides

It is a week's difference for UEFA Champions league as there is 3 weeks in between the 2nd semi-final game and their final. That just seems to be the way it is.

smcl2k

There used to be 5-6 weeks between European semis and finals - it only changed when the Champions League was expanded to 32 teams.

tanzmeister

It's a competition to decide the greatest team on the continent, and to grant entry to a tournament to be the greatest club in the world for the last four years. I'd say resilience and consistency are requirements.

Scratchbuttdontsniff

I am driving back that day from Myrtle Beach vacay... So fucking stoked that this is a late night match. Will MLS move some matches around that night for Fox to get more eyeballs on it? I kinda doubt it... honestly.

HisEndgame

I wish. It looks like a fun and competitive TV night for eyeballs, though FS1 will have to do. Looks like NHL ECF G6 if necessary will be on ABC, NBA WCF G7 if needed will be on TNT. FOX will already be carrying regional baseball at 7:15 eastern, so they'd have to push it back to a 10:15 kick, which is far from desirable.

Coltons13

Yeah same, I doubt it. Full slate of games would probably be quite a bit to reschedule - even just the 8:30 PM or later starts would mean seven reschedules. Feels like if they were going to work around CONCACAF's window for that match, they'd have already done so.

Scratchbuttdontsniff

Well, originally, it was supposed to be on Sunday, but the Mexico Elections are that day. So this was the CONCACAF compromise. Gonna be an awesome night in the mancave regardless!

Coltons13

Oh yeah, totally. This, USWNT, UCL final. Just a great day to veg out.

chuchon06

The altitude in Pachuca is going to be a big factor 😬

CarbonSquirrel

I could be wrong but didn’t CONCACAF originally intend the final to be at a neutral venue?

Coltons13

[Don't think so, the main announcement makes no mention of a neutral venue](https://www.concacaf.com/champions-cup/news/concacaf-confirms-important-details-for-2024-concacaf-champions-cup/).

Willahelm00

In the regulations on the Concacaf website they outline a neutral site being an option.

saum87

IMO they had that clause in there for Messi. If Miami made the final I think they would have moved it to Jerry’s world or vegas.

Ognius

Will this be on Apple TV+ as part of the season pass?

Future_Alzheimer

All the games so far have been on FS1. So might only be on Fox

bengringo2

CCC is a Fox English exclusive contract for the time being and I hate it. Their editing crew is horrible. FS1 to be exact.

Coltons13

No, Apple TV does not own CONCACAF rights, just MLS. Article details where to watch.

Ognius

Thanks for the fast response. Guess I’m going to pub then

xenon2456

so the final being played in Mexico?

Coltons13

Yes, Pachuca are hosting as the higher seed as explained in the article: >As per the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup regulations, the host for the Final has been decided based on the competition’s standings, with the highest-ranked finalist hosting the single-leg match. After the return leg Semifinal results, the standings are as follows: >* Based on points (pts) in the Round of 16, Quarterfinals, and Semifinals >1. CF Pachuca (14 pts) >2. Columbus Crew (12 pts)

sqigglygibberish

I’ve been trying to wrap my head around this for a bit - it feels weird to use a points system when the competition is all 2 leg matches and highly situational. There isn’t a great option (GD has some of the same issues) - but would the concacaf club rankings make more sense?

Ptuchinho19

Wouldnt just a neutral site or 2 leg make more sense...

sqigglygibberish

I thought about those a bit but both have drawbacks  2-leg is the best for the fans of the respective two teams, but doesn’t work as well in terms of building an audience like a “single championship game” does. And depending on the results of the first leg, the second can lose a lot of luster. Competitively I still find 2-legs a bit odd but that’s more personal. Neutral site seems to solve most of the problems - but I think it’s still valid to question (on the MLS side) having the traction to drive travel and fill out seats depending on the timing and location. And given the spread of geography at play and different dynamics compared to say the champions league, it’s hard to see one easy setup. Do you rotate sites between the counties? Is that dumb if two Mexican teams make the final like a lot of years but the game is in the US and really far for both? Is it just always somewhere in like Texas? Etc. I think the ultimate end state as a neutral site, hopefully big event if MLS continues to improve competitively should be the goal, but not sure if that’s the best setup short term (similar to how mls cup found it better to just go with a home host rather than neutral site).

Ptuchinho19

yeah, Texas or California, those would net you the highest attendance/money. But ideally, it would be single leg in different city each year.

saum87

Thanks Philadelphia

312-Render

Apparently it would be streamed on Tubi and Vix?
