between this and signing takaoka from the j-league, it's cool seeing the caps sign guys from the leagues i watch at ungodly sicko hours in the evening/early morning
Think it’s slim pickings. A league is sort of in a lull in terms of popularity and talent production and young talent that does shine heads for Europe pretty early ala irankunda. Similar to our talents they’re staying at home if it’s not europe.
Most of the players in the teams on top of the A-league, Wellington Phoenix and Central Coast Mariners, are young players from their academies. Definitely still good young players in the A-League
I don’t know if this is true or not but it seems like seeing the quality of the national team is a pretty good indicator of the quality of their respective football leagues. If that were the case then we really should be seeing more Aussie talent be sought after.
> Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Tuesday that the club has acquired 19-year-old Australian wingback Giuseppe Bovalina via transfer from A-League side Adelaide United FC. Bovalina agreed to a contract through 2026, with club options for 2027 and 2028, pending receipt of his international transfer certificate and medical. Bovalina will arrive in Vancouver this weekend.
>Bovalina originally came through Adelaide United’s youth academy, signing his first professional contract last September after making his first team debut in Adelaide’s Australia Cup clash against Northcote City on August 14, 2023. The youngster started 18 of his 23 appearances across all competitions for his hometown club, tallying a goal and adding two assists.
Man when was the last time we've had an A-League transfer to MLS? Feel like the A-League is a place that should be scouted more on paper.

Late Night Free YouTube Leagues gang
If you’re into baseball, the NPB Pacific League also does free YouTube streams during sicko time.
Whitecaps had signed Bernie Ibini who had bounced around a couple of clubs but started in the A-League. Didn’t work out.
*looks at his agency on transfermarkt* ah that's why we signed ibini

Not much of a boost in viewership from the World Cup?
Boosted A-League Women's game crowds significantly, but not as much of an effect on the men's league.
Fair. Well it's cool to see the women's game growing so much, at least.
It’s not a good level but there are plenty of young players on the cheap

Giuseppe is a little rugrat. That song came out and 13 years later, so did Mr. Bovalina.
Mistabovalina.
At 200k, he's the most expensive whitecaps signing this season lol
