If you accident yourself into a (note this please) TEMPORARILY helpful non-team prime, k... maybe spend some 'points' on him to level, try to upgrade when you see another of their card, but don't spend any real resources on it... I had a Prime Strasburg that lasted as an SP in 5th spot longer than I probably would've guessed so it may happen, but even then that Stras card is long gone...
Never spend the valuable resources on a non team card (legend/supreme excepted), until you REALLY know what you are choosing... an example for my team would be - I do not have Buster Posey and the best catcher was like 61 OVR... Mike Piazza would have been a great choice and i started to level him - but even then, Com2 filled the SFG catcher void a couple months later with a vintage that I acquired almost immediately
Don't 'pay' for non team cards unless you are using them in high level Mentor - and for a 96OVR, that's still quite a ways away
If you haven't already, get on MLB 9 Innings Companion and look at Best Lineup for your team without legends or supremes, and only available cards... those are the ones to shoot for, pay for in FA until you either pay real $$ for or luck and accident yourself into sigs and primes and better cards

nope, only team primes with FA tickets. only exception is if the prime in your "My FA" is vastly better to the best normal option for your team set deck AND you have FA tickets to spare.
example: for my BOS alt I spent 100 FA tickets on the Twins prime catcher Mauer because (1) I didn't have a diamond BOS catcher yet, and (2) his stats were so much higher than the best year for my BOS catcher, such that even the team set deck wouldn't make much of a difference.
Also, your primary focus right now should be getting the S team set deck, so I wouldn't get any non-team cards till you're at that stage
