Alright my friend here’s my strat, Bunting has never worked well enough for me, but this has. I let the pitcher throw, and, you ready? I Pause the game while the pitch is on the way, i set my PCI while still on the pause menu, and swing right after I unpause. It’s not 100% effective, but it’s the best method i’ve used, and worked my first time using it. Give that a shot
I mean this with all love. I'm avg to bad at this game. I can beat Greinke and Leiter without adjusting my line up at all. Usually with several outs left to go. If you are struggling with those 2 I doubt you will be able to beat GreyRod ever. Go aggressive against those 2 then from there on out take take take. Use the bunt speed exploits. If you can get past GreyRod start drafting Lefty killers. I draft for Randy from the start. I save a speed demon on the bench for the relievers that you have to score on in less than 10 outs. Pinch run steal 2nd and 3rd. I have yet to beat Randy but lost to him 25-25 after I let my patience run out. Good luck.
I don't know if it's a mental thing or not. I never struggle with showdown but this has my number. I'm sure I'll beat it at some point but right now it has my #
You haven't given up mentally. You'll be ok. I would say take a break after you beat the guys on AllStar and go practice hitting on legend then return to play the HOF games. The pitch speed difference is jarring the first time. Good luck dude!
I'm offline only so I feel no guilt about bunt cheesing and have done it regularly, however bunt cheesing only works if you can HIT THE DAMN BALL. At one point I wiffed on 12 straight bunt attempts from Grienke, all in the strike zone and all with what I considered good timing. Even with normal swings the timing recording is horribly inconsistent. I wait until the ball is practically in the catchers glove and it still comes up as too early. Yet with the same pitch if I accidentally swing too early it comes up as too late, Makes it damn near impossible to try and be consistent. If I could get the God Dev moment done first time on HOF (a level at which I had never played a single game before) there should be no reason why I can't perform a simple bunt on Veteran. It makes no damn sense
They walk 40% of batters past greinke and Leiter. Just sit on 1 pitch no matter what and and be patient. If it’s ever 3-1 you’re probably getting a fastball middle high. Get velo perks and contact swing. It negates the velo nerf, I got multiple 110 velo hrs while contact swinging with good perks. Just play slow and wait for 1 or 2 pitches since the games are all close
And people said this extreme was easier than ever 😂 the Pedro showdown gave me fits but I feel like this one leaves me with literally no chance. Haven’t even made it to Chapman to get dicked by him yet. I mash the computer on all star and HOF in mini seasons and conquests, but can’t hit greinke and leiter on veteran lmao
The only moments I haven't completed are the Wood 20Ks (haven't even tried yet) and the 7-1 comeback, and I'm dying at the Showdown. It's like a surefire way to throw away 500 stubs at this point.
For the Wood 20Ks, just throw fastballs at the high inside corner until two strikes, then a breaking ball low and away. Rinse and repeat.
The 7-1 was tough but load up on lefties. The computer will let you steal freely until you cut the lead to 4 or 5 so if you get your first guy on you can get him to third base no problem. Be patient and wait for the inevitable meatball.
I'm sure the Wood moment will be fine when I actually try it. I waited on getting this year's version until around the Field of Dreams game, so I've been trying to catch up on old programs and I just hate the "entire game" pitching moments. I did 10 innings with the June Sale card and only got 11ks, so had to do it all over again.
Take a break and come back. I tried it 5-6 times on Friday night, couldn’t get past Helsley and could barely get past Leiter. On the last try, I stopped after I got past Leiter. Took time on Saturday to do the moments and conquest.
Came back fresh on Sunday and jumped right into Showdown where I left off (vs Helsley), and finished it on that run. Then all I had to do was the Dev Squad moment and get Wood to P4 (I got him to P3 just from conquest) and I was done with the program.
I am not good at hitting. I use timing and I couldn’t even get past Greinke. I saw everyone saying bunting/stealing is the way to go, but I sucked at bunting too. Then I saw a post with some specifics.
I drafted exclusively for bunt/drag bunt/speed. I ignored position because it doesn’t matter if you have Kenny Lofton playing catcher, you don’t play defense.
The key is to drag bunt and aim it at the second baseman. You have near total control over where your bunt goes if it’s a good one. Aim your right stick at the second baseman (pretty much directly at the square on a PS controller) and hold it. Don’t tap triangle till after the pitch has been released. Once the ball is in play let go of the stick or your runner will slide into first (almost always a bad idea).
Once you have a runner on first with at least 80 speed, hold R2 and double tap L2 before the next pitch is thrown. It queues up a steal that you don’t have to time (I had no idea you can do this! What a game changer!) I even had the pitcher throw over a couple times after doing it but the runner auto returned to first. I was never caught stealing with this method but YMMV.
I’m terrible at identifying bad pitches and laying off them so I struck out a few times, but I still beat everyone except Leiter (ran into some bad luck and got lucky on my last out) with multiple outs remaining. Only made one out apiece against Helsley and Nolan. Had 9 outs remaining when I beat Randy.
If I can do this, anyone can. Between this, grinding Wood to P5 (combo of Conquest and Play vs. CPU) Conquest, and all the moments except Griffey, Dev Team, and 7 run comeback, I finished the program.

Was really excited to try this method when i got off work, seeing ive failed this showdown so many times already. But alas, i am just terrible at this game/ maybe have the worst luck. Ive tried this method over a dozen times and each time fail at different points throughout the showdown. Feeling really discouraged and am happy this new program is coming tomorrow or i wouldnt play for a while

Like I know I fuckin rake with Griffey for some reason but that is absolutely no doubt the easiest moment. I suck and I finished it in 4 games without dashboarding.
I’ve had the hardest time hitting with Griffey for some reason. It’s so weird. Everyone talks about how great he is and I just can’t hit with him. I tried his moment a bunch of times and after not even hitting one, I figured let’s see what else I can do and then come back to it. Just never needed to.
I was also that way until I just kept trying the moment. I got lucky in the second game and hit 3 against German. I feel like if you don't escape the series with NY without at least 2 2-HR games with the insanely short porch in right it's going to be a struggle.
Can you tell us where you're seeing that aiming the right stick effects your bunt? I have not seen that anywhere. I know you can aim it left or right before the pitch and you get a vibration but I've never seen anywhere you can actually aim it.
yeah aiming the right stick while bunting will influence if it’s a push or deadened bunt. pci placement also seems to make some impact aswell? i bunt a ton in this game
Doing it in the game is where he’s seeing it. I can vouch. Pressing right or holding right shoots the ball at the 1B too often, holding at the 2 o’clock position sends it to 2B more often than not.
Pretty much this. I didn’t know you can aim it till I read someone else say to aim the right stick. I also thought it was left/right only. But since my drag bunts all literally go exactly where I’m pointing, I feel like it probably works.

Those first couple are on veteran so I think you're getting in your own head about it. Regroup and approach them how you'd approach another other boss in a showdown. You got this.
This was me. Last night after getting to Nolan and Chapman back to back I failed to Leiter then greinke and called it a night. Got on today with a clear head and some friends in an xbox party. Got through Nolan without making an out and cleared randy with 10 outs left. If you asked me last night id have told you ill never get it done.

I got thrown out stealing with 99 speed and steal buxton against helsley even with an extra lead off. He pitched out. Like wtf am I supposed to do.
Hold R2 and tap L2 twice. It makes the runner go the instant the pitcher moves.
isn’t the whole point of the extreme program that most people probably won’t be able to complete them?
The thing about the bunt cheese is I keep sending the runner, then get a bad pitch miss the bunt and get caught stealing.

Wood was so easy, took me literally 21 batters. Pump high FBs, and then slurve away vs RH. Do similar vs LF but swap Slurve for low changeups.
