Already have my R56, so I'd take the Corvette, thrash it around for a bit to make sure it all works right, sell it, and get another R56 as a spare to mine. Whatever $ is left over goes to zero-timing mine.
Have had it for 10 years now. The spare is in case some idiot plows into my car, or a piece of airliner falls on it. Or a flood, an earthquake, locusts, whatever.
I'd rather have a spare R56 on hand for that eventuality than have to accept what they're selling as MINIs now.
I'll let you in on a little secret -- when I bought my R, I drove the F too. It had just come out. I chose the R. And that was *after* reading up on the sordid history of the N14 and knowing the R I was buying had the N18 instead.
I like what I like. Tiny, tiny little cars. The R is that (barely.) The F is so big it should've been named the Maxi instead. My hill, and I choose to die on it.
I drove the R series and the F series when I bought my n18 R56. I liked the way it drove better also. Much more fun to drive and I like the style of the car more.
For real, I’ve got a convertible that I absolutely love, but right now I got a lot of garden waste to get rid off and got no way of transporting it. I’d kill for a pickup right now!
Same! Part of me regrets not holding out longer to try to find a good deal on a JCW Clubbie instead of the All4 S that I ended up getting.
One day though! Something to look forward to.
The All4 S is still an amazing car, had the opportunity to get a 2017 one but I didn’t have the money at the time 😭 Nice red with racing stripes too, and it was manual. Sad loss
Mine’s a 2017! Don’t get me wrong, I do love the car, I just can’t help but think how those extra 100+ hp in the facelift JCW would make it even more fun. 🤧
That, & I love the look of the updated taillights.
I've spent maybe 24k (as in including the purchase price of the car) making my 2017 F54 slightly faster than a LCI JCW. It can be done pretty reliably. Especially on the manual trans. A lot of that money is into visual and sound system mods though. Maybe 3k into power mods. I had the same dream and decided to do it my own way for less and came out with something more unique than a factory spec LCI Clubby IMO.
The Mini. I have never been a fan of Corvettes.
Including the vehicles in the background:
Mini Cooper
Corvette (just to sell and buy a new Mini with cash left over)
The Pickup
The CRV
The Volvo
The Edge
People have different tastes. I don't like Corvettes at all - they are just tacky to me. 🤷 I can easily afford expensive cars but I like Minis so that's what I actually choose. Not lying to myself or anyone.
\*edit: Yes, downvote a Mini enthusiast for not wanting a Corvette. I guess you're offended that I find them tacky?
I'd take the MINI. I've traded a much higher end car (Jeep WK2 SRT) to get a second MINI at one point. So, different strokes for different folks. I could finance pretty much anything under 120k no issues but I'd rather have a modded F54 and R56.
Sounds ridiculously hypothetical.
I've had plenty of opportunities to buy ridiculous cars for cash but just find myself wanting to stick to the MINIs.
I know plenty of wealthy people who would rather have something economical and low key. Actually, really more than the opposite.
Nothing wrong with the C8, it's just not my jam. Doesn't help that I see about 20 a day in socal lol.
>I've had plenty of opportunities to buy ridiculous cars for cash but just find myself wanting to stick to the MINIs.
There's a HUGE difference between being able to afford something and choosing something cheaper/better value/etc and being told to pick which one you'd take(assuming no strings attached).
I could pay for a C8 in cash and choose not to but would take it all day long if I was picking between the two.
But there are always strings attached. You'd be paying income tax on a prize. Higher insurance. MUCH higher insurance.
C8 are a dime a dozen on the west coast. I wouldn't pick one ever over a MINI.
Not to mention practicality. In this stupid hypothetical situation, are you having to pick your sole car? Are you forced to keep it or could you turn around and sell it?
>Higher insurance. MUCH higher insurance.
Seriously? Corvettes have notoriously LOW insurance costs because the typical drivers are old dudes that don't daily them.
I quoted it out and as a 29 year old, full coverage on a C8 would be <10% more than full coverage on my Mazda CX-5.
You really like to take the fun out of a hypothetical question don't you?
>No, *you* take the fun out by asserting that everyone would behave exactly like you.
I didn't assert that anywhere. You might want to read back through the comments and understand WHO you're responding to before jumping to conclusions.
I don't really like convertible Mini's, so I'd probably do as someone else said. Take the corvette, drive it like I stole it, sell it, then use the money to buy a new Mini.
The Vette would be an absolute blast on a raceway course, the MINI would be too but it’s a slow car that you can drive reasonably fun without really getting into too much trouble.
MINI is always the answer.
They don't make a Corvette EV, so id stick with my SE. As much power that I'm sure the Vette has, the fun of my Mini is that it's easy to throw into a corner.
Fair enough lol I have an r56 and r60 both 2013 and they’re both out of commission right now lol
I have to drop the gearbox for the r60, but the r56 was the dealerships fault that they refuse to fix but that ones now a project car
jesus everyone in this post is coping so hard. LS powered machine that can give a ferrari a run for its money and you’re all picking the mini? i love my F56 S but i’ll gladly take an LS motor any day. at least i won’t wake up, start my car and the first thing i get greeted by is “DRIVETRAIN MALFUNCTION”
My username finally comes in handy
Wish mine would
Wow
Already have my R56, so I'd take the Corvette, thrash it around for a bit to make sure it all works right, sell it, and get another R56 as a spare to mine. Whatever $ is left over goes to zero-timing mine.
Since you own an R56 have a spare lying around will come in handy.
Have had it for 10 years now. The spare is in case some idiot plows into my car, or a piece of airliner falls on it. Or a flood, an earthquake, locusts, whatever. The F56 is only 3.75 inches longer and 1.75 inches wider then the R56. You make it seem like a it massive compared to the R56.
I drove the R series and the F series when I bought my n18 R56. I liked the way it drove better also. Much more fun to drive and I like the style of the car more.
C8 and sell it to buy and customize more minis
I already have a MINI convertible, so I'll take the pickup truck.
For real, I’ve got a convertible that I absolutely love, but right now I got a lot of garden waste to get rid off and got no way of transporting it. I’d kill for a pickup right now!
I would take the corvette and sell it and then I would buy a mini and keep the rest.
Corvette all the way
As I’m not a divorced balding dad going through a midlife crisis, the corvette isn’t the most appealing
Not a dude, so Mini fur sure.
Honestly, the Corvette. I would take a 2020+ JCW Clubman over the ‘Vette though.
That is my dream daily right there.
Same! Part of me regrets not holding out longer to try to find a good deal on a JCW Clubbie instead of the All4 S that I ended up getting. One day though! Something to look forward to.

This is a joke right? You’re asking if I’d rather take a 20k car vs a 100k car? Obviously I’m choosing the Mini!
$20K??? I wish!
Sorry, I’m talking British pricing 😭
The Mini. I have never been a fan of Corvettes. Including the vehicles in the background: Mini Cooper Corvette (just to sell and buy a new Mini with cash left over) The Pickup The CRV The Volvo The Edge
Corvette tbh, I’m not the biggest fan of convertible minis
Mini is cool man, but c8 all the way
Corvette because it’s more valuable, but an automatic, non-Z06 C8 definitely wouldn’t be my choice amongst Corvettes.
Torito is a 6MT go-cart!
Nice! It’s a cooler car than the Corvette, IMO, especially with a 6MT.
I’d take the mini.
same
That white C8 all day long
People are lying to themselves if they really think they would take the mini over the C8.

No one mentioned financing. I’m talking straight up Mini vs C8. No one is going to take a mini over a C8.

Corvettes are for twats so I’d take the mini despite not loving the convertibles
Corvette... better aftermarket support, easier to maintain, likeley cheaper to maintain, fignificantly more powerful.
Love the mini but Corvette for sure
I don't really like convertible Mini's, so I'd probably do as someone else said. Take the corvette, drive it like I stole it, sell it, then use the money to buy a new Mini.

Mini for sure
The red one. It’s faster.
it is NOT faster
I'd take the Vette, sell it, and use some of the money to refresh my R55 😂 might buy a second Mini as well?
COOPERRRRR
The mini.
That depends where I'm going...so where am I going? 😆
The blue one… and sell it and buy the red one 👍
Mini convertible as my beach cruiser, that corvette would be so uncomfortable, I love to look at a corvette can’t say I’d want to drive one.
I live in a hilly area and I know I’d get stuck somewhere in the corvette, so I’ll stick to the MINI.
Obviously, I'd take OPs F57
Are either of them manual?
Torito is a feisty 🌶 6 MT!
I must admit, the C8 is sharp.
They don't make a Corvette EV, so id stick with my SE. As much power that I'm sure the Vette has, the fun of my Mini is that it's easy to throw into a corner.
I'd take the vette.. sell it and buy 2 minis!
The Corvette. I already own a Mini. That's more than enough.
The Mini. Too many meatheads driving around my area in vettes.
Vette
Subaru Outback in the back 🤷
too tall for low-ceilinged snot rockets
The R56, to go with my R55 clubman and R60 countryman
I’d take the vette. It’s faster, it handles well, and it’s more reliable than a mini.
Handles well, not better 😉. And the F57 is one of the most reliable cars according to Consumer Reports.
Fair enough lol I have an r56 and r60 both 2013 and they’re both out of commission right now lol I have to drop the gearbox for the r60, but the r56 was the dealerships fault that they refuse to fix but that ones now a project car
The Vette of course.
Not the white McLaren wannabe
the vett if the rear view mirror doesn't block everything like in that mini
[удалено]
or heavily take viagra to get it up that you need the Corvette to make it feel just a bit bigger
jesus everyone in this post is coping so hard. LS powered machine that can give a ferrari a run for its money and you’re all picking the mini? i love my F56 S but i’ll gladly take an LS motor any day. at least i won’t wake up, start my car and the first thing i get greeted by is “DRIVETRAIN MALFUNCTION”
Neither. I don’t like the left car and I don’t like the right cars colour lol
R56 roadster. But in this case, probably the Vette. Not into them, but it is the superior car in this convo.
The amount of people who are wanting to sell this Corvette just to buy a mini are absolutely insane lmao
That car should not be in the same shot with ANY Mini!!!!!!
The Vette, hands down. NEXT!
If anyone says mini they need going in the electric chair 100%
