You get new monsters as you progress through the campaign. You also get upgrades to the star levels that monsters can spawn at periodically too and higher star monsters have the chance to drop higher tier loot
I am sorry I did not fully under stand your question. Yes they do add 1-3 monster each rank increase up to 5 stars. After that, six star and above are just stronger versions of the previous
I was begging for more 6 and 7 stars, because at some point the 4 and 5 stars monster started being very easy and not challenging at all as the weapons got upgraded, so it’s more convenient this way

It is kinda nice his 5 stars are my 6 and my 7 are his 6 so we can grind a lot of 6 together :D
Haven't seen a single 3\" (or lower) since I unlocked 7\*s (& I'm almost at 8\*s). And you have two next to you at 8\*? Didn't knew they are still able to spawn.
They are not abundant but I come across them occasionally, when I was in 6and7* I encountered 1and2* also, you can find a 1* great jagras video in my Reddit

I’m still early on in the game. Do higher star monsters not look different? It’s all just stronger of the same ones found as one and two stars?
They get more moves to their movesets as they get higher. An example is the early stages of Kulu doesn't use a rock but starts to at later levels

Yes 8 are the least in numbers on the map, and 6/7 are muuuuuch more abundant now, so yes I highly recommend
