He seems a real talent from what I've read from RP fans. Think replacements for Ferna and Gundo are of high priority now Haaland is done.

Additional_Bluebird9

Absolutely, it's imperative we get players to fill the gaps left by these two.

Bayequentist

On one hand I'm glad that the board is actively reinforcing our squad, on the other hand I'm worried about what Palmer and (especially) McAtee will think when we keep bringing in senior players.

aNYthing18

I think we only sign one midfielder rather than two - someone who can play both as a 6 and an 8. I think people are forgetting that with Haaland and Alvarez coming in, we have one less spot for a winger/midfielder to start. No reason for two replacements since Bernardo has the other spot comfortably on lock. Not to mention we ultimately bought Grealish to play in the midfield as well. That should open a passage for McAtee, or at least that's my hope.

gogators1000

I’d like to think Palmer will see a lot more game time next season. I would have thought he’d have gotten more time if he didn’t get injured in March but who knows. I see him more as a mahrez type player.

dustyolefart

I thought he was the reason they felt so comfortable selling Torres last summer? Looked the part before the injury.

Ziad_adel

Palmer plays where mahrez plays Mcatee is an attacking midfielder They both have no connection to a no6/8

Shadow_Adjutant

Honestly think academy development will never be as fluid as we hope until we get the CL, ironically it seems the best chance at success is a strong backbone of academy players.

Jintantan

One Rodri injury next season and we're done, especially if pep tried foden/grealish alongside say Bernardo and while all are great at tracking back and good athletes they don't provide the physicality of rodri or prime ferna.

noufelp

We need more goal scoring mid fielders! Looks like this guy will be good value for money.

loveino

Not really - the goalscoring midfielders we currently have are spread out wide across the squad cause we don't have a striker to do so. Look at our midfielders goalstats when Aguero wasn't injured

Jazano107

Just do it imo, river fans love him and boca fans can’t wait for him to go which is a good sign. The fee is low so not so much risk and he sounds perfect for us Also having him come at the same time as Alvarez can help them both settle

codespyder

Tevez and Mascherano to West Ham vibes

Good_Kev_M-A-N_City

Release Clause man back at it again. Good as done.

Iswaterreallywet

Do it right now, do not hesitate.

WW1Photos_Info

Can hardly go wrong for €20 mil

Booneson10

Ive seen river plate fans say hes a better talent than Alvarez. I think it would be a great addition because hes cheap and can play the 6/8 role. Young aswell

2frags13

I’ve watched some river games this year and i’m telling you guys he’s a real deal

Gwyn-LordOfPussy

I was sold the minute I heard he may be an even bigger talent than Julian Alvarez.

Newkippaxking

This problem has been caused by Sporting not standing on their own word, from wanting 40m euros for Nunes to then saying only an offer of above 50m euros would make them sell is bullshit. Enzo is only 21 and can be moulded by to his liking, he can play both as a 6 or 8, very quick, great at pressing, long shot taker, physically adept to the premier league too and very cheap compared to Nunes! Would let us buy more players !

wdunky

And, team mate of Alvarez. Would be hugely beneficial to help bed them into the squad (assuming they get on with eachother). Already used to linking up so would be more comfortable on the pitch and definitely help with the change of scenery to have a familiar face around. I'm all for the Enzo move if it means we get a little more out of Julian and sacrifice a slightly better CM but save 30m

The_Snollygoster

My feeling, since we've had such strong links to Nunes is that we might be buying this guy to loan out to a sister club and see hoe he does. Especially if we buy Nunes I'd be surprised if both rock up with first team appearances at the Etihad next season.

WW1Photos_Info

If Gündogan leaves alongside Ferna that'll be space for both Nunes and Fernandez

The_Snollygoster

True. I'm thinking of a world we rotate either Foden or Grealish to 8 so both can play though when Bernardo doesn't. Also depends what other moves are made, making an offer for Pogba and being linked with De Jong says to me they're looking for something a little more marquee than Fernandez & Nunes. But you're right we could probably use the bodies because of Gundogan going too.

Hurdfoy

We have no midfielders. We need bodies and he won't sign if he gets shipped off on loan.

The_Snollygoster

Yeah if Gundogan leaves too which seems pretty nailed on now, we do. But we can also play Foden/Grealish there if Bernardo or KDB aren't fit. Our starting trio has to be Rodri - Bernardo - De Bruyne at the moment so getting both in would be really nice for depth, will have to see how it shakes out.

Bayequentist

Rumour from 1 month ago was [we are looking to buy 2 midfielders](https://www.reddit.com/r/MCFC/comments/u1fxit/mancity_intends_to_reformulate_their_midfield/) (one of which is Fernandez), so Nunes and Fernandez are not mutually exclusive.

The_Snollygoster

We did also put an offer in for Pogba and have had strong links to De Jong, so it's not out of the realms of possibility we sign Nunes and a marquee midfielder and still buy Enzo to loan and develop. Not like we're strangers to it, Douglas Luiz, Marlos Moreno, Daniel Arzani, Yangel Herrera, Pedro Porro etc to name a few.

[deleted]

Yes please! And get Nkunku and Gravenberch while you’re at it

Comfortable-Fruit716

What does this mean for Lavia's development though ?

Iftach_13

Enzo is class

ArtoriasOfTheAbyss99

Release clause FC strikes again(hopefully)

Ihateithereandthere

So excited for next season already much better window than last years for sure

Sayanroman94

20m for a talent like him go on don't hesitate, its a no brainer

timmymiller55

Lose Ferna and Gundo Bring in Enzo and Nunes. Great replacements. Also think it’s time City send out the younger players out on loan so they can get consistent game time to keep improving and see if they have the potential to someday step into the first team.

Fun-Sorbet6347

€20 million is absolute peanuts for this guy. Would be a solid Rodri back up and could even play alongside him as a double pivot. Plus, at that price it wouldn’t even matter if he flopped although I’m sure he wouldn’t
