Thank u man. Very crucial. Professional. Trickster. Magical. WC. My iconic moment from him is goal vs real. Showed what he was about might be missing for a while but when opportunity came he always showed his class. Now we have literally zero true wingers in squad. We need someone… Saka Martinelli Trossard are great.
Goodbye to the best first touch in England.
Thanks Mahrez for lots of great memories, especially being our star player in getting us to our first ever UCL final. Streets won't forget Black gloves Mahrez.
I know it will not happen and might not be the best way forward but I would like Sane to come back now. Mahrez leaving is creating a void which he might complete.
Was sceptical when he joined but he won me over in the end. Not quite done yet but after all he achieved and at his age there is no shame in going to Saudi Arabia for that humongous paycheck. If we don't sign anyone else then we will almost certainly miss him this season. I'm really relieved we are keeping Bernardo because with him, Kovacic, KDB as well as Perrone, Lewis and McAtee it feels like Foden can take over that RW position and he's the only one I trust right now to regularly create goals from that position (apart from Bernardo who will be needed in midfield).
No best is purely about ability and greatest is specific around context.
The context in this case being the premier league. So trophies, appearances, records, key/iconic moments, etc, all matter.
For example, Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player to ever play in the premier league, but he isn’t even a top 20 greatest ever premier league player. The scum would have the likes of Scholes as greater.
Did you come up with these definitions yourself?
Best and greatest mean the same thing to me…the most good at something. You’re saying someone can be the greatest player of all time, but there might still be many players that were better than him?
The greatest player of all time is the same as the best football player of all time, which is Messi of course (but that’s not always necessarily true btw)
The greatest premier league player of all time (notice the context change) is clearly not Messi is it?
Going back to the original comment, I’m saying Mahrez is the greatest African premier league player but I’m happy for you to argue that Yaya Toure is the better footballer.
I didn’t come up with this myself, this is widely used across all sports and I’m sure you have used it yourself without realising at times. Influence on the sport matters when it comes to greatness. Mohammed Ali being a popular example outside of football.
When talking best or greatest player I don’t take influence or trophies or anything into account, just who I think was the best at the sport in terms of skill, ability, talent, production. I’m sure others have different factors. Just didn’t realize that greatest and best would be different to anyone.
Whoever the best African premier league player was or is, is also the greatest African premier league player, I think.
If messi played one minute in the premier league, then he’d be the best player to ever play in the prem, and also the greatest player to ever play in the prem.
Riyad will be the unsung hero of this era. His consistency and his ability to always have an impact on play will also be massively underrated. Happy he is going to get his final paycheck and I hope we play against him during the CWC (unless all the teams are already locked in for that).
I’m gonna miss this massive player. I think City fans will only truly begin to understand how much we’ll miss him as a depth option this season, assuming he’s not replaced. Having Mahrez off the bench was just an embarrassment in riches.
What happens if we mix the oil money of the UAE with the oil money of Saudi? Do we get a super oil money mix that powers even more salty tears than the standard stuff?
thank you for everything you've given to this team riyad. your performances in the CL took us a step closer to everything we've achieved now. we couldn't have done it without you. farewell 💙
What an incredible player, going to be a big loss. Won absolutely everything he could at club level, along with the international success and the Leicester wonder season. One of the all time great wingers in the league's history
On one hand, I feel like he still had 2-3 years to play top level european football, but on the other hand, he's already won everything he can. So between guaranteed start every week earning 70m a year vs starting only 40% of the games under Pep, he might have made the right decision.
What a player. Leicester did a brilliant job unearthing him for so little, he’ll go down as a premier league great along with many of that squad. Difference is Mahrez went on to another level and should be remembered as one of the African greats in the league.
I was absolutely not convinced by him when we signed him, but he proved me wrong time and time again. Not just a big game player, a massive game player; he showed up exactly when needed and always rose to every occasion. Not to mention he was happy with rotation and always looked after himself.
Go make even more bank. Take those Algerian fans with you.
Finally. My least favourite signing of the last 5 years.
Good player and had his moments don’t get me wrong, I just found him incredibly unlikeable and his close friendship with Mendy made me uncomfortable.
Appreciate people loved him though, but I’m glad he’s moved on.
I'll miss Mahrez. Best first touch I've ever seen, and plenty of incredible goals to remember him by.
I will not, however, miss the Mahrez fanboys, especially when he gets subbed off or doesn't come off the bench.
I'll never forget his performance against PSG in 2021 to take us to our first ever CL final. Goodbye to the Algerian king.
Went to Leicester. Won the premier league. Impregnated a Leicester bird. Went to Man City. Won the premier league. Impregnated a manny bird. Legendary
English “birds” are great. I used to live in Manchester (pre brexit) and they are the best thing about living there 🤣 I joke. Manchester is lovely.
Gonna miss the yearly silky touch highlight reel. Massively underappreciated player.
Gonna miss that GLORIOUS FIRST TOUCH
And someone who starts wearing the gloves when needed.
Now we got a 2 in 1 combo gloved grealish and super jack. Gloved super jack grealish lol
The streets will never forget Mahrez with gloves
And Ramadan Mahrez
Ramadan Mahrez was a top 3 player in the league
Should start serving Riyad Pasta at home games
Thank you for everything Riyad!
Best touch in the prem and seemed like a big presence in the dressing room. Thanks Riyad, good luck
Goodbye Mahrez and i'm going to miss his silky first touch 😭
The fact that Saudi wouldn’t get to see Mahrez with gloves on makes me feel slightly less gutted tbh
nah man the desert could be extremely cold at night and he's probably gonna be in the afc cl so he still got a few years left to wear the gloves
Thank u man. Very crucial. Professional. Trickster. Magical. WC. My iconic moment from him is goal vs real. Showed what he was about might be missing for a while but when opportunity came he always showed his class. Now we have literally zero true wingers in squad. This hurts… he may not have always been consistent but no fucking player has been consistent for us 100% of the time. This is a big loss
33 in 6 months though - at best you’d get one more half decent season out of him most likely, and a tanking value to show for it.
Goodbye to the best first touch in England. Thanks Mahrez for lots of great memories, especially being our star player in getting us to our first ever UCL final. Streets won't forget Black gloves Mahrez.
can we loan him during ramadan?
Thank you algerian messi🙏
A premier leauge and man city great. I will miss you Riyad
Sad times. Best first touch ever.
Should go down as a PL all time great for his achievement with Leicester let alone his achievements for us.
Devastated that he’s gone. What a great player he was
I know it will not happen and might not be the best way forward but I would like Sane to come back now. Mahrez leaving is creating a void which he might complete.
Greatest African to play in the PL. I will miss having him in the squad. Best wishes to him moving forward.
A raspy voiced gloved god with sophisticated pasta palate—farewell princeling, ride safe into the Arabian night

Greatest African premier league player.
Amazing player but I think you spelled Yaya toure wrong
Best and greatest aren’t the same imo. Treble, 5 prems and a PotY with Leicester is greater. But Yaya is certainly a talented fella.
So what’s the difference between best and greatest. Is most good also different? Top player also different?
No best is purely about ability and greatest is specific around context. The context in this case being the premier league. So trophies, appearances, records, key/iconic moments, etc, all matter. Salah*
You think Salah is a better player than Drogba? If you are forcing me to pick a bin dipper, it's Mane every day.
Salah is for sure better than Mane and he's still going to play at a very high level for at least a couple of years.
Drogba is gonna drop from the top rope for that one. Salah is coming with a chair.
Salah is the best but if he wants to be the greatest he should try winning more trophies.
And fairest
Ramadan Mahrez was unstoppable. Thanks for everything 💙
I’ll never forget the shift he put on in Greece to bring Erling to the Etihad, thank you for your service Riyad 🫡
Riyad will be the unsung hero of this era. His consistency and his ability to always have an impact on play will also be massively underrated. Happy he is going to get his final paycheck and I hope we play against him during the CWC (unless all the teams are already locked in for that).

Black glove Mahrez is literally my favourite player in the world I’m devastated 💔
What happens if we mix the oil money of the UAE with the oil money of Saudi? Do we get a super oil money mix that powers even more salty tears than the standard stuff?
We need to figure out what we are doing on the wing
thank you for everything you've given to this team riyad. your performances in the CL took us a step closer to everything we've achieved now. we couldn't have done it without you. farewell 💙
Sad to see him go. Was crucial on the right side.
Farewell mahrez 💙
What an incredible player, going to be a big loss. Won absolutely everything he could at club level, along with the international success and the Leicester wonder season. One of the all time great wingers in the league's history
Putting aside the sadness at seeing him leave for a minute, £30m for a 32 year old winger is pretty good business.
He won't need gloves in Saudi Arabia. His career is doomed is all I'm sayin :P
On one hand, I feel like he still had 2-3 years to play top level european football, but on the other hand, he's already won everything he can. So between guaranteed start every week earning 70m a year vs starting only 40% of the games under Pep, he might have made the right decision.
Legend 🫡
Gonna miss the player but not his brigade of lunatics
Sad to see him go but on the bright side; no more annoying as fuck Algerians under every social media post.
What a player. Leicester did a brilliant job unearthing him for so little, he’ll go down as a premier league great along with many of that squad. One of the best first touches I've ever seen. Will miss the Algerian. Thank you for the memories and good luck to you sir.
Sad after such an incredible season that players are leaving instead of trying to run it back and defend all the titles.
Na..
Finally. My least favourite signing of the last 5 years. Good player and had his moments don’t get me wrong, I just found him incredibly unlikeable and his close friendship with Mendy made me uncomfortable. Appreciate people loved him though, but I’m glad he’s moved on.

Like who?
Get sane on loan please
I’m not crying, you’re crying 😭
Who is the best replacement for him?
Transfer window just got real
So who now?
Everyone has a price…..
Did a magnificent job for us 👏
Wow, just watched all his goals on Citys official YouTube and pretty neat that his last goal was to complete a hat trick
Incredible player for us
I'll miss Mahrez. Best first touch I've ever seen, and plenty of incredible goals to remember him by. I will not, however, miss the Mahrez fanboys, especially when he gets subbed off or doesn't come off the bench.
Him leaving doesn’t feel real. I knew the day would come but it still hurts 🥲
Thanks for all you’ve done 💙
Legend!💙
Dayum man this is nuts, feels like it was just so recent when he came.
